A Family for His Tiny Twins Page 16

by Josie Metcalfe

The way he was looking at her, pleasure in what he was seeing clear in his face, was so flattering that she nearly forgot what she wanted to ask.

‘It’s nothing, really. Just…’ She dragged in a quivering breath, silently cursing her ignorance. ‘Is it always like that?’ she demanded in a rush, afraid that he was going to laugh at her lack of knowledge. ‘Is it always like…like the biggest firework in the world exploding inside you, but instead of blowing you apart, it makes you feel as if you become part of each other, so you don’t know where one person ends and the other one begins?’

‘Only if a couple is very, very lucky,’ he said fervently, a heated glow seeming to radiate from those beautiful green eyes.

He arched his hips again, and when she realised that he was watching intently for her reaction, this time she countered the move, deliberately pressing her body down on his.

‘Oh, yes!’ he breathed, and she could see from the pulse at the base of his throat that his heart was starting to beat as fast as her own. ‘Definitely lucky,’ he said as he gently rolled her until they were lying side by side, and she realised that in this position neither of them would be dominating the other.

For just a second she was still, probing her feelings and finding that all the old terrors were gone in the arms of the one man she knew she could trust.

‘I’ve a feeling we’re about to get luckier, Gideon,’ she said as she deliberately rolled onto her back, pulling him so that he was on top of her, then wrapping her legs around him to hold him in position when he would have lifted himself away from her.

Experimentally, she arched her hips and the result was so pleasurable that she felt a wide smile creeping over her face, a smile that only grew wider when he thrust deep in return.

‘In fact,’ she murmured distractedly as she gave herself over to delight she’d never dreamed of, ‘I think our good luck is going to last for the rest of our lives.’
