One Summer in Montmartre

At the airport terminal, Ingrid and Jean Paul remained entwined until the last second, and parted with promises of the tweets, texts, emails, skypes, and phone calls they'd make.

Greg was standing outside a book shop, mobile in hand, when Ingrid flew at him. He hugged her and looked up at Anna.

He was so familiar. He had been her life's companion, the chosen, the beloved. She read the questions in his eyes, in his demeanor. Had the trip helped her in any way? Was she still marooned in grief? He would always stand by her as he'd promised on their wedding day, but the journey had become more difficult, more burdensome of late, than either of them had anticipated.

Greg moved Ingrid aside as Anna reached him. He opened his arms, and she moved into his embrace, feeling the relief in his body. He released her and looked at her. "You must tell me all about it."
