  CHAPTER ONE

Scarlett couldn’t stop thinking about the other night, and she found herself puzzled. After another session of mind-blowing, life-altering sex with Charles, he had scrambled out of the bed like it was on fire. He seemed ashamed of what had happened between them and tried to leave - again. His constant up and down state of moodiness was making her dizzy. Desperately, she’d begged him to stay, but Charles had insisted that he needed to go. She was nearing the point of no return and feeling as if they were in an endless cycle that was leading them to their ultimate demise. Despite the connection they made last night when Charles had broken his silence about Julia, Scarlett still felt like she was driving down a dead end road. When she confronted him about his Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde persona, he cited that he needed to go meditate before his first client who just so happened to be a crisis patient.

When he stalked out of the bedroom, Scarlett had merely laid in bed, not knowing what to think or where to turn. Her heart ached for Charles and for herself. There were so many questions rolling around in her head that it nearly gave her a migraine, but where were the answers? The only thing Scarlett could think of doing to make things better was to find a way to disconnect from reality for a little while; something that could be for just the two of them. Maybe a getaway of some kind. Something that would bring them back to the connection they had when they’d first gone to the cabin together. It seemed so long ago now.

Her eyes looked past the haze of steam rising up from her freshly poured coffee and sighed. Last night, Charles had cried. She’d rubbed his back as he poured his soul out to her. It was the sensitive, emotional Charles she’d come to love and look forward to. Then that beast inside of him crawled out and fucked her like she loved it; hard, fast and unrelenting. There wasn’t a surface in her house they hadn’t blessed and not a single impromptu toy they hadn’t used. Her stomach flipped, and her sex tightened in response to the memory. It had been incredible. He was such a contradiction in terms. Rolling her eyes skyward, she wished he didn’t have such an affect on her, but at the same time, hoped it would never go away.

Deciding to forego reading, her usual morning go-to, Scarlett picked up the remote control and turned on the television. It was Sunday, and so there was hardly anything on except for infomercials. She flipped through the channels aimlessly, Charles still taking up most of her brain capacity, when something flashed on the screen. Quickly, she backtracked, and her eyes opened wide. It was an airline commercial advertising luxury trips to none other than Thailand. The lush resort sprawled out before her eyes as the camera panned across the white sandy beach into waters as blue as Charles’ eyes. Scarlett found herself enchanted.

This had to be the answer she had been searching for. She kept her eyes riveted to the screen as the infomercial continued to show her the way. All the times Charles spoke of his time in Thailand came flooding back to her. He had talked so highly of the Asian medicines and practices that had shaped him, made him who he was. Having learned the best alternative therapies for a healthy mind and body, it was part of what he offered his patients. Charles believed there were other ways to overcome demons than to pop a pill twice a day, and it was that hopeful, helpful part of him she loved best. A smile spread across Scarlett’s face.

Sitting down in front of her computer, coffee by her side, Scarlett began a Google search for Luxury Spa & Ayurvedic resorts in Thailand. She had heard of couples going on retreats to exotic places to rekindle romance or to work on their emotional connectivity. This was the exact thing Charles needed to get to the root of his problem and perhaps she’d find out more about herself as a whole. Having never been the type to buy into spiritually based solutions, Scarlett found her mind opening to the possibility that something like this could work. Charles and all of their experiences together were so new; what were a few more new experiences thrown into the mix? If she didn’t try everything to make it work between them, she might as well throw in the towel now.

Suddenly, one search result sprang up and caught her eye. It was a couples retreat on Koh Samui Island called Sensimar. The lavish resort had it all; a minimalist décor with tropical appeal right along one of the most gorgeous beaches she had ever seen, and all the things Charles held so dear to him. It was a no-brainer. She went through all of the packages and found the one best suited to them as a couple; yoga classes, meditation, spa access, healthy food, and most importantly - adults only. Without the slightest hint of hesitation, which was odd as she never did things brashly, she booked the package and paid for it in full on her credit card. If this was what they needed, what Charles needed to move past his feelings of burden and guilt where Julia was concerned, then so be it.

Feeling a sense of accomplishment, Scarlett pulled out her phone and texted Charles. She knew Charles was a dominant man, to put it lightly, and there would be plenty of time for domination later, but today things needed to happen on her terms. She held her breath as she typed with both her thumbs going a mile a minute.

We need to talk. Let me know when we can meet. I have a surprise for you.

Closing her computer, Scarlett padded barefoot to the living room where she sat comfortably against the soft cushions of her reading chair and gazed out the front window. She sipped her coffee slowly and leaned her head back. With the pale sun shining through the window as it hit her face, it almost felt like the world was full of fresh and new possibilities. For the first time in a long time, Scarlett felt excitement coursing through her veins at the prospect of a new adventure.

Now, she just needed to get Charles on board.

  Two weeks later . . .

With a smug sense of satisfaction, Scarlett watched the seat belt sign finally go dark in the airplane. It had taken a lot of convincing and some out of character seduction techniques on her part to get Charles to agree to the trip. Once she had him convinced though, Scarlett soon began to see another, more enthusiastic Charles. She liked it very much.

Leaning back in her oversized, plush seat, Scarlett was so glad she had decided to splurge on First Class. Charles had also been pleasantly surprised. He held her hand between them and sighed contentedly as the quiet hum of the plane filled their ears. It was dark outside by now, and most of the passengers had turned in for sleep. Normally, Scarlett would have been in bed at this hour, but instead, she was heading to Thailand with Charles. Her body hummed with excitement – and tension.

They had taken off in silence, but now that they were free to move around if they liked, Scarlett felt like she could almost breathe again. She took slow, deliberate sips of the drink she had ordered to keep her calm on the flight, as she didn’t normally do very well on planes. As a matter of fact, she and Frank had stayed in the US for their honeymoon, opting to drive to Niagara rather than fly somewhere more exotic. It left her with an uneasy feeling knowing that they were suspen
ded so high up in the middle of the sky with nothing above or below them. Thoughts of crashing brought moments of anxiety into her brain, and she found herself wondering what would happen if something went wrong.

“Nervous?” Charles murmured, leaning into Scarlett’s space. He had finally broken the silence.

“I’ve never really been a fan of planes,” Scarlett replied, her voice tight with nerves. “I don’t know why.”

“Is there anything I can do to help you take your mind off it?” Charles whispered.

Suddenly, his hand began to slip up the inside of her leg before sliding against her covered sex through her pants. Scarlett’s eyes shot open, and she bolted upright, quickly glancing around to see if anyone could have seen him.

“What are you doing?” She hissed, swallowing around the moan that was threating to burst from her throat.

“Taking your mind off your fears,” Charles said huskily, rubbing her slowly between her legs, which she had parted involuntarily.

“We-we’re in p-public,” Scarlett stuttered as her eyes drifted closed with pleasure.

“Technically,” Charles breathed against her ear. “We’re on a plane, and everyone is either asleep or getting there.”

She opened her eyes and found him staring at her, those piercing blue orbs wandering over her body possessively as he rubbed her slowly, deliberately with a firmness that made her heart rate speed up. Glancing around slowly, she noticed that there were only a few surrounding them still awake and they were either buried in their books or engrossed by their laptops and movie rentals. Scarlett bit her lip, her eyes traveling to the hand that was driving her near to madness.

Charles pulled one of the blue blankets from the cubby in front of him and shaking it out, placed it gingerly over their laps. He lifted the armrest between them and pushed it back behind their shoulders. Shifting in his seat, Charles moved closer to Scarlett until their arms were pressed firmly against each other. He slid his hand back across her thigh and began to slowly, quietly unbutton her jeans and bring the zipper down.

“A stiff drink is always helpful to calm your nerves,” He whispered in her ear, his breath causing the hairs on her head and neck to stand up. “But this is a much better way to relax.”

Sliding his hand down the opened front of her jeans, he slipped his fingers beneath the waistband of her white panties until he found the sensitive wet flesh beneath. Turning her head slightly, their lips met in a slow, lazy kiss as his fingers skillfully plundered her aching center. Their tongues tangled together softly as their mouths melded in a sensual joining that had her spreading her legs even further. Wanting to return the favor, she slid her hand into his lap and cupped his hard cock through his jeans.

“Do it.” He demanded against her lips in an intense whisper. “Take it out.”

He was rubbing mind-numbing circles around her swollen clit making her pussy wetter than ever before. Perhaps it was the fact that they were in public, on a plane where they could get caught at any moment, or maybe this was just the effect Charles had on her. Scarlett practically ripped open the fly of his jeans, making his hips jump before she dove her hand inside, pulled him out and slowly began to stroke him up and down.

“Like this?” She gasped softly against his lips as his fingers touched a particularly sensitive spot.

“Just like that,” He hissed before claiming her mouth in a soul-searing kiss that made her toes curl.

The plane disappeared and everyone else around them as well. It was just them; Scarlett and Charles, suspended in mid-air by physics as their bodies pulsed against one another. It became warmer beneath that blue blanket as Charles slipped his fingers into her wet entrance. She felt her muscles tightening and found her grip on his cock getting tighter as her hand moved more quickly. The release was so close, she could taste it on Charles' tongue as he probed her mouth, fervently exploring every cavity available to him.

Her thighs tensed when he curled his fingers inward and found her g-spot. He rubbed firmly, and her mouth fell open against his, making a silent O. Her pussy gripped his fingers in a vice as she came. Charles swallowed any sound that may have escaped her lips with his mouth and before long, she could feel the stickiness of his release on her fingers. Biting her lip with a smile of satisfaction, she looked around quickly. When she was satisfied no one would be the wiser, she lifted her hand from beneath the blanket, brought her fingers to her lips and held Charles’ eyes hotly as she licked them clean.

Thailand was about to catch fire.

  CHAPTER TWO

The Sensimar Samui on Koh Samui Island was nothing like Scarlett had ever experienced before. She had stayed in nice hotels, but this was something entirely different. The sleek and modern hotel surrounded by the tropical lushness of Thailand had to be seen to be believed. It was a chic jewel amidst the palms facing one of the most beautiful oceans she had ever laid eyes on. A sense of calm and wonderment began to settle deep into her chest, and for a split second, she was at her most peaceful. Their room faced the turquoise ocean overlooking a private pool and sundeck on their patio. It was nothing short of breathtaking. Its minimalist décor was both romantic and centering.

“Scarlett?” Charles called to her almost apprehensively.

Scarlett had been so taken by the view from their patio that she had hardly heard him approaching. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she took a deep breath as she felt his arms encircle her waist. She smiled. “Mmm, yes?”

“This,” he breathed into her ear. “Is spectacular.”

If she could have done cartwheels, she would have made Charles dizzy with them. Her insides were frantically celebrating while her mind instantly went into overdrive. Biting her lip, she leaned her head back against his shoulder. “So, I did good?”

Charles chuckled, the sound making the fine hairs on her arms stand on end. “Yeah, Red. You did really good.”

The sound of her childhood nickname coming from his lips made her heart do flips, and she felt herself go hot. It made her feel like she was – his. She turned slowly in his arms and found her eyes locked with his. They emulated the ocean at her back, and she could see the waves dancing in them. His skin was flushed, and he was smiling bigger than she’d ever seen him smile before. Standing on her tippy toes, Scarlett pressed her lips to his, cradling his cheeks in the palms of her hands and kissed him with everything she felt in her soul.

He molded Scarlett’s body to his, and she felt him harden slightly against her belly. When she pulled back, she smiled at him and arched a brow in his direction. “Thank me later?”

Clearing his throat, one of his fingers playing with the thin spaghetti strap at her shoulder, he nodded his head, a wicked smile on his face. “Maybe.”

Charles quickly went into professional mode and stared down at their itinerary. “Okay, we need to eat and get to the main lobby if we’re going to make it in time for our first day trip.”

“Should I change?” Scarlett asked, peering out the patio door to the gorgeous panoramic view of the ocean sparkling in the sunshine.

“M-hm,” Charles murmured with hardly an upward glance. “It’s hot out there, you’ll die of heat in those jeans.”

Scarlett heeded his warning and quickly changed into some trendy cargo shorts she’d picked up for the trip and a lovely white boho blouse with embroidered flowers at the neckline. The cap sleeves were more than enough to cover her shoulders and keep her cool at the same time. She slipped on her sneakers and began braiding her unruly hair which was misbehaving terribly in the humidity.

They made their way to the Beachfront Restaurant for breakfast. As they had hardly any time to sit and eat a leisurely breakfast, Scarlet piled her plate with some fresh fruit. She was about to get a table when Charles stopped her.

“Wait,” he murmured before grabbing a fresh bagel and slathering it with a generous helping of butter and then a creamy white substance. He placed it on Scarlett’s plate with a smile and winked at her. “You’ll want some
of that.”

Cautiously, Scarlett picked up her bagel and took a small bite before her eyes flew open with delight. “Oh, my goodness! What is that?!”

“That,” Charles chuckled before leaning in a licking what Scarlett could only assume was some of the white cream at the corner of her mouth. “That is coconut jam.”

Scarlett took another bite, this time bigger than the last, and closed her eyes in ecstasy. “Charles, where has this been all my life?”

He shrugged, moving past her toward a table. “Thailand.”

They wolfed down breakfast as quickly as possible and then hurried to the main lobby of the hotel to meet their tour guide for the day. A lovely, charming woman named, Sanoh. She quickly walked them through their itinerary one more time and then led them to their taxi. Thailand flew by them from the car window as the wind whipped casually against their faces. Scarlett tucked some errant strands of hair behind her ear and smiled at Charles.

“I’m so excited to be sharing this with you,” She expressed happily.

Charles smiled at her and Scarlett caught a glint of something mischievous in his eyes. “You have no idea. Sanoh said we’re going somewhere very special.”

Holding out his arm to her, Scarlett accepted his invitation and slid contentedly beneath its shelter where he fitted her comfortably against the side of his body. He smelled like the fragrant soap from their hotel room and man. Charles had an undeniable scent that drove her mad. Scarlett had always laughed at the women who would tell her how much they loved their man’s smell. Now she understood what they meant. It drove her wild. If they weren’t in the taxi with their petite tour guide, Scarlett would have leaped into his lap and fucked him right there; driver be damned!

The car came to an abrupt stop, and they were ushered out of the taxi into a throng of people going to and coming from Lamai Beach; some holding bags full of souvenirs and some closing their eyes in pleasure as they nibbled on something sweet from the market lining the pathway they were on. The closer they got to their destination, the more Scarlett found her brows knitting together. People were giggling and snapping pictures. She noticed one of the rocks looked exceptionally like – well . . .
