Sold To The Athim Prince Page 16

Tiffany and I looked over at each other and grinned. Dereki walked over to us and took my hand.

“Princess Freya,” he leaned down to kiss my hand. “You’re absolutely stunning like Modric said you would be.”

“Why, thank you,” I said. “This is my best friend…”

“Tiffany,” Dereki said, walking over to her side of the chair. I watched as she basically melted into a pile of mush.

“Well, this is a nice surprise,” I whispered to Modric as he sat back down next to me. He grinned.

“It may not be completely innocent,” he said. “Since we’ve landed, I haven’t had a chance to get you by yourself.”

I smiled back at him. He was right. Since landing, Tiffany had been by my side the entire time.

“They look like they could be a cute couple,” I said. Tiffany and Dereki were already in deep conversation. Modric nodded.

“Dereki is my younger cousin,” he explained. “He has always wanted to be like me growing up. Now that I have a beautiful human wife, he wants one, too.”

I watched as Tiffany giggled and smiled with him. I had seen her around some boys before, but she never got along with them as quickly as Dereki. My husband might have been quite the little matchmaker.

I laid back in my chaise, watching the colors of the sunset dance in front of me. The colors were much more vivid than the sunsets on Earth.

  “This is gorgeous,” I said.

“It’s OK,” Modric said, “But there are more gorgeous things I would like to see tonight.”

“Down, boy.” I playfully swatted him. “There’ll be plenty of time for that later.”

Although I wanted to fool around with him again, I enjoyed the buzz I had, and the view in front of me. I felt like I was on a tropical vacation.

“So, do you think we should stay on Athim for a while?” Modric asked me.

“You already know the answer to that,” I said. He laughed.

“No more missions?” he asked. “You don’t like the crazy ex-girlfriends trying to kill us? Or the ship getting hit in the middle of space?”

“That would be a negative,” I said. “Let’s just stay here for a while.”

  He smiled at me.

“That sounds perfect,” he said. I climbed over to his chaise and sat on his lap. He ran his hand through my hair.

“Have I ever told you how much I love your hair?” he asked. I laughed.

“I kind of had an inkling,” I said. Our lips met.

“So, uh, we can see that you guys are busy,” Tiffany said. “We’re going to take a walk on the beach if you don’t mind.”

“I don’t mind!” Modric laughed. I nodded in agreement.

“Have fun you two!” I called, as they got up from their seats. Tiffany winked at me as they passed us by. She and Dereki left the balcony hand-in-hand.

“Alone at last,” Modric whispered to me. I snuggled into his chest.

“It feels good,” I said. “Really good.” We sat together in silence for a few minutes, listening to the waves crash against the sand. We watched below as Tiffany and Dereki walked across the beach.

“Good call,” I told him. He nodded in agreement.

“I know I said everything earlier,” Modric finally spoke. “But I really do mean it, Freya. You changed the way I look at everything. I have a whole new outlook on life.”

“Same with me,” I said. “I meant everything that I said at dinner as well.”

I looked up at him and he kissed me again.

“Are you ready to head to the bedroom?” He asked. I nodded. I was secretly eager to test out the bed, purely for sleeping reasons. It looked amazing when we toured it earlier.

“I just want to lay in bed,” I confessed, as we took the elevator to our room. Modric chuckled.

“I was actually thinking the same thing,” Modric said.

We reached our room and I fell into the pillowy bed.

“This is amazing,” I said, as Modric laid down next to me. We both sank into the bed.

“It is,” he said. I closed my eyes, feeling the wine buzz more and more by the minute.

“Thank you,” I said, leaning over and kissing Modric on the cheek.

“For what?” he asked, turning to face me completely. I scooted closer to him.

“For picking me,” I said. “You could have any woman you wanted, and you chose me, so I just wanted to say: thank you.”

He returned the kiss on my cheek.

“Thank you,” he said. It was my turn to question him now.

“For what?” I asked. He grinned.

“For allowing me to pick you,” he said. “For opening your heart to me. For being you.”

“You’re welcome,” I giggled. He gently slapped my ass.

“Go get ready for bed,” he told me. I jumped off the bed and into the bedroom. Modric had set out my usual pajamas on the counter – Yoga pants and a t-shirt. While I appreciated the kind gesture, I was ready to give them up for Modric’s type of pajamas.

“What’s wrong?” Modric asked as I came out of the bedroom.

“Nothing,” I said. “Closet is this way, right?” I pointed to the right of me. He nodded.

“I set your things out already,” he called out. I ignored him. I went into the closet. Like the rest of the rooms on Athim, it was larger than the one on the ship. I quickly found the lingerie area, filled with new goodies for me to try on.

There was a lot to choose from, but I grabbed the first outfit I saw. A green see-through nightdress that would make the color in my eyes stand out. I quickly took my sundress off and replaced it with the teddy. I brushed my hair out and looked at myself in the mirror. I was quickly becoming comfortable with wearing less clothing.

I couldn’t believe how much I had grown as a woman in the past few weeks. I had become increasingly more comfortable with my body, a large part of that due to Modric and the compliments that he showered me with.

I came out of the closet and met Modric’s eyes. He looked surprised, but pleased with my choice.

“Where are your pajamas?” he asked, although I knew he didn’t mind. I shrugged.

“Aren’t these pajamas?” I teased. It was reminiscence of our first night on the Athim ship together. Sometimes, I couldn’t believe how far we had come since that first night.

“Get over here,” he said. I jumped into bed and under the covers. The soft covers against my skin felt good. I stretched my arms and legs out, so that I was still close to Modric, but also had my own space in the oversized bed.

“What’s on the agenda tomorrow?” I asked Modric as I fluffed my pillow.

“What would you like to do?” he asked. “The possibilities are endless. We can go to the beach, we can go shopping, we can go into the main part of town, or we could just lay in bed all day.”

All those options sounded incredible to me. I wasn’t sure which one to pick. I had a feeling that I would never get sick of the beach, but shopping also sounded good, too.

“Do we have money for shopping?” I asked with a grin.

“Oh, I think we can scrounge some up,” he said, winking. “You don’t have to decide right now. You can sleep on it, Princess.”

“That sounds like a plan,” I said, as he turned off the lights. Although I was tired, I wasn’t quite ready to fall asleep.

“Modric?” I asked, making sure that he was still awake.

  “Yes?” he asked.

“Are you really happy?” I asked. I know he had made the speech at dinner, but I was still afraid that this was all a dream. I had never had something so good happen to me before, and I was scared it was all going to turn out badly.

He switched the light back on and looked at me.

“Are you crazy?” he asked. “Of course, I am! You know I’m an honest person, right?”

He was right. He was always honest with me, even if certain things had hurt, like his past with Idira.

“Why are you questioning it all of the sudden
?” he asked. I shrugged.

“It just feels too good to be true,” I said. “I guess I’m struggling with it a bit.”

He stroked my hand with his fingers. The sensation felt good.

“It’s not too good to be true,” he told me. “This is your reality now, Freya. You’re an Athim Princess with a husband who loves her. Sometimes good things happen to good people. I know you’ve had a rough past, but your future will be bright.”

Normally, I would have found something like this cheesy, but with Modric, it felt strong and true.

“I’m sorry,” I apologized. “My mind’s just racing right now. I thought I was ready to fall asleep, but I’m not. Maybe I should go sit on the balcony with my thoughts.”

The idea of walking on the beach had sounded good. In the past on vacations, late night walks on the beach allowed me to clear my mind and free my soul from the trappings of my father and my life.

Modric grabbed my hand and looked at me.

“You aren’t going anywhere,” he said. “I think I know a way that I can tire you out.”

“Oh, really?” I raised my eyebrows.

“Really,” he said, pulling me closer to him.

“What do you have in mind?” I asked, still playing the game.

“I don’t know,” he said. “Maybe we can start working on that family we talked about.”

I pretended to think about it for a second, but quickly grew tired of playing around. I licked my lips and smiled.

“That sounds good,” I said, kissing him. “Let’s work on that family.”

  Get It Here

We’re all in cages, counting ourselves lucky to be alive, let alone to still have our clothes on…

I’m imagining scalpels and labs and sci-fi nightmare fuel until I’m taken away and given as a gift to a grey-skinned alien with star-white hair, a scaled face, and the leathery wings of nothing human: Luras Darin.

Now I have to convince him, from the confines of this stupid white birdcage, that I’m not just some stupid animal so I can get out and find a way home.

I’m learning the language from scratch, but it doesn’t look like speaking will be enough…until suddenly it is, and I show him what humans can do when they’re alone in a dark room…

  Gifted To The Dragon King

  Get It Here

Captured. A slave. And then gifted as a pet to a callous, ill-mannered Dragon King.

And this what he calls “saving” me?

  BS.

Your girl here has a very high-end Navy training.

I could destroy him in an instant -just allow me to plan it.

Just have to resist a few more days.

He looks at me? I look away.

He gets close to me? I silence my heartbeat.

He touches me? I mute my breathing.

And if he catches me looking at him in his sleep?

  No. Let’s repeat.

  Resist. Resist. Resist.

No jawline, no chiseled body, no musky smell will dilute my mission.

I’m a strong woman. Super strong woman… I’m so proud of myself.

Damn it, he’s looking at me again…

  Can dragons read your thoughts?

  Sh$%^!!!
