Hetch (Men OF S.W.A.T. #1)
Page 13
“Are you wet, Liberty?" I ask, already knowing the answer. There is no fucking way she isn’t as turned-on as I am.
“Yes,” she sighs, her fingers working herself to the brink.
“How wet, sweetheart?”
“Dripping.”
Fuck me.
“Is it for me?” I reach down and adjust myself in my jeans. I could easily take the few steps toward her and take over, but something about delayed gratification has me holding back.
“Yes.” She whimpers and her hips start to move in rhythm. Even though I can’t see her finger gliding between her pretty pink folds, I can picture her glistening for me.
“Show me your fingers.” She groans in frustration but still complies, presenting me with a pussy-juice-coated index finger.
Fuck me, I need it in my mouth.
Done with delayed gratification, I step forward, spin her around, and wrap my lips around her finger. She tastes sweet with a hint of spice. It’s all it takes for me to drop to my knees, spread her bare lips wide, and lick from her opening up to her clit.
Fuck, how could I miss her taste? It’s only been hours.
She cries out in pleasure, the sound echoing around the room. Again, I repeat the action, this time ending with a light nip on her clit. Needing to make something clear, I pull back and look up at her.
“Liberty?” She looks down, her face flushed with want, her body laced in need. “Did you really think I'd have a woman in my bed the same day I was in yours? The same day I had you coming on my cock?” I know I said we were fooling around this morning, but even if she didn’t feel the same connection as I did, surely she doesn’t think I would fuck another woman.
She comes back to herself to answer. “Honestly?"
“Yes, honestly. Always be honest with me, babe.”
“Then yeah.”
Her answer guts me more than it should.
“Jesus, sweetheart.”
“What do you expect, Hetch? Ever since I’ve moved in, you’ve had a bevy of women in your bed. You said you weren’t looking for anything serious. I come home and see you standing there hugging a woman, all rational thinking left.”
“I’m not gonna lie, Liberty. This morning scared me. I’ve been through my share of women. That's my baggage, but believe me this, if I’m with someone, I’m only with them.
“But you said—” Her confusion matches my own as I take a minute to think about my next words.
“I know what I said, Liberty, and maybe at the time I meant it, but now, now I’m not so sure.”
“You’re saying you want more?” Her hand reaches out and cups my jaw.
“I don’t know what I’m saying. I don’t even know what’s happening here, except I want you. Clearly more than once. You’ve gotten to me. More than I care to admit.”
“I know the feeling,” she whispers, placing us both on the same page.
“So we take things slow. No labels, no decisions, and no one else.”
Jesus, exclusive with a woman? What the fuck am I thinking?
My heart falls into what I assume is my stomach as I wait for her reaction. The lust swimming in her eyes is replaced with something else like she too is analyzing me for my reaction.
“Okay.” She finally answers when the silence grows heavy. The word is simple, uncomplicated, yet more complex than I care to admit. Deciding now isn’t the time to consider what I just proposed, I cut all conversation and continue to eat her out.
Only when I've made her come twice with my mouth and cock another three, do I truly realize how deep I am.
Fuck me, Sterling was right.
Hook, line and sinker.
“Team A will breach the front entry, and Team B is on rear,” I tell Fox and Hart as we do surveillance in preparation for the high-risk arrest warrant we’ll be executing later today at one of The Disciples known hangouts.
“Let me guess, you want Team A?” Fox asks from the backseat in our unmarked SUV.
“How did you know?” I almost laugh at his scowl, not feeling one bit guilty about it. The dog that guards the perimeter of the old house looks like one mean son of a bitch, one I want nothing to do with.
“’Cause your pansy ass is scared of dogs.”
“There was a dog?” I ask, keeping my face straight.
“You’re a pussy,” he grumbles under his breath, ultimately letting it go.
The purpose of today is to do a tactical reconnaissance. On top of detailed plans provided by the detective working Liberty’s case, I wanted to get some groundwork of the area and see what, if any, obstacles we might come up against, i.e. big fucking dogs. And also see if there are any lookouts we need to be aware of.
Ever since the night Dominic and his boys threatened Liberty, I’ve been doing some digging, speaking to a few boys down in the gang unit and turns out, while Dominic is a smaller fish in the grand scheme of things, he still has ties to some seriously dangerous men higher up the food chain. And because, like most street gang leaders, they leave the hard work up to their “soldiers”, we’re going to have a hard time pinning anything on him. Doesn’t mean we’re not going to try. Today we begin the first round of trying to flush the fucker out and get something on him.
“ETA this is going down?” Fox continues to jot down his notes.
“Tommy wants to go in after dark.” Warrants at night work a little differently. While we do have the element of surprise, suspects can get away a little easier.
Richard “Tommy” Tomelson is head of the narcotics unit. His boys have been sitting on this place for a while now. If he thinks going in after dark is our best play, then we will.
“There goes my night.” Fox sounds relieved more than annoyed.
“Don’t know if you’re happy about it or not.”
“Vanessa is coming around to pick up some shit.”
Vanessa is Fox’s ex-wife. Wicked witch of Trebook as Fox has been known to call her. I’ve personally never met her, but from the stories I’ve been told, she definitely lives up to the name.
“You still having issues with her?” Hart asks after I tell him to head back to the base so we can brief the two teams.
“When am I not? She’s just trying to get in my head. We’ve been divorced for two years, and she still finds a way to come over every few months.”
“Seems like she has you on a short leash, Fox.” I weigh in on his situation. I’m not as experienced in the relationship department as these guys; my longest relationship was in high school when I was head over ass in love with Amy Theo. I chased her for weeks before she finally relented and let me take her out. We lasted two years until her dad took a job across the country and left. We tried the long distance thing for a few months, but it never worked out. Since then, I’ve played the field and had a few girlfriends, but nothing serious enough to interest me in settling down.
Until Liberty.
“She thinks she has me on a leash. She comes around, throws her attitude around some, and then ends up in my bed.”
“You’re a sick bastard.” Hart shakes his head in laughter.
“She may be a bitch, but she’s a good lay.” He shrugs, not in the least apologetic about it. “What about you, boss? Sterling thinks you’re holding out on us with the sexy neighbor of yours.”
Fucking Sterling and his big mouth.
It’s been two weeks since Liberty caught the wrong idea about Kota. Two weeks of sleeping in each other's bed, fucking every chance we’ve had.
Two weeks of falling deeper into the rabbit hole, falling off the face of the earth, and only showing my face for work, or when Liberty complains I don’t feed her enough.
Two weeks of telling myself I’m getting in too deep. Too fast.
“Sterling doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about.” I shut the line of questioning down.
This week I officially received the promotion I’ve been waiting for: team leader of Trebook’s tactical unit. To say I was shocked would be an understatement
. To say I wasn’t happy would be a lie. The team wanted to make a big deal out of it, celebrate the appointing with a big night out, but I wouldn’t let them. While I may officially have the job, I still need to prove myself and keep my head above water in my new role.
These last few weeks have really put me on my ass. Since my chat with the lieutenant back at the training base a few weeks back, I’ve done a lot of thinking and realized I’ve worked so hard for this position, and the only person fucking up any chance of me succeeding is me.
“You’re fucking whipped, admit it. You haven’t been at The Elephant for two weeks.” Hart weighs in on the conversation just as I see two teenage boys in a heated argument out the corner of my eye.
Is that Mitch? I twist my body back as we pass them, hoping for a better look.
Shit, I think it is.
“Who are these little punks?” Fox asks, picking up on my interest in them.
“One of them lives over at Boys Haven I think. Double back, Hart,” I order, hoping it’s not Mitch but some other kid who looks like him. Hart doubles the block in record time, before slowing and pulling up beside them.
It’s the hoodie he’s wearing that seals the deal. The black and red symbol on the back of his shoulders flashes in my mind from the night I found him leaning over Liberty.
Fuck, it is him.
“Hey, Mitch, what’s happening?” I ask as I step out of the cruiser, interrupting their conversation.
“Ahh, nothing much.” Mitch steps back, his eyes frantically sliding from the three of us to the punk next to him.
Okay, this doesn’t look too good.
“You remember me, Mitch?” I ask, knowing full well he knows who I am. I’m the guy who convinced him to make a report against his brother.
“Yeah, you’re the douchebag officer who has the hots for Liberty,” Mitch retorts as Fox snickers off to my side, but I don’t show any emotion.
The little shit.
“Yeah, something like that. So what are you doing on this side of town, Mitch?” His shoulders slump at my question, his hands gripping on the sides of his worn jeans.
“Just walking along, minding my own business.” He shrugs like it’s no big deal, but I can tell in his panicked eyes something’s up.
“And what about you, what’s your name?” I direct my gaze to the kid standing next to him.
The kid barely looks eighteen and thinks he has enough swagger to give me attitude.
“I don’t have nothin’ to say.” He evades my question, his brown, sunken eyes not quite meeting mine before the little punk-ass starts to walk off, calling Mitch along with him.
“Mitch, can I have a word with you over here for a minute?” Hart steps into their path, cutting off their retreat.
“What for? Is he under arrest?” The thug steps forward, only to retreat when my hand finds my holstered Glock.
“He’s not. I just want to have a chat. You stay there,” I warn, giving Fox the nod to keep an eye on him.
“Nah, Mitch. Don’t go with this pig. This is some bullshit.”
“It’s okay, Victor.” Mitch steps forward, allowing me to speak to him privately.
“What’s going on, Mitch? You in some kind of trouble here?” I lower my voice, so the little fucker Victor can’t hear.
“I’m fine. Honestly, but you should probably go.” He loses his attitude and shows his vulnerability.
Something is definitely up. This kid Victor is either packing or has something on him.
Something I can hold him on and possibly get some information traded.
“Does Liberty know you’re out and on this side of town?”
“No, and you can’t tell her.” I look over and see Fox and Hart keeping Victor occupied and out of the way.
“You know I can’t do that, bud. Now, does this kid run with Dominic?” His nonverbal reply tells me what I need to know.
“Okay, I’m taking you back to Boys Haven,” I tell him, motioning him over to my cruiser.
“Please, Hetch. Don’t do this. I have this sorted.” I’m sure he thinks he has it sorted, but I’m 100 percent certain he most definitely does not.
“Get in the car, Mitch. I’m not gonna argue with you.” I open the back door and motion for him to get in. His scowl tells me he’s pissed, but I can’t be worried about it right now.
Once I’ve closed the door, I turn back to Fox and Hart just in time to see Victor take off.
“Fox keep on him. Hart, stay with Mitch.” I don’t wait for his reply, but take off after Fox while calling it in. “331. We have a pursuit on foot.” I catch up to Fox without breaking a sweat and overtake him as Victor cuts through a backyard.
“Go around and cut him off,” I shout out to Fox, watching the little fucker jump the fence. I follow him up, dropping to my feet while he clears the next fence.
“Remind me why we’re chasing this fucker?” Fox’s irritated voice comes over my lapel radio, and I smirk, knowing deep down he secretly likes this shit.
“’Cause the punk runs with The Disciples and we still need to get a lock down on Dominic,” I pant back, keeping up my chase.
“So, for pussy. Got it.” I ignore his jab, scaling another fence into a second backyard. Victor keeps his lead, clearing the third fence as I clear the second.
Little fucker is fast.
Upping my pace, I make it over the third fence just as I catch him crawling up underneath the house of an unsuspecting family.
“Come out, Victor, you have nowhere to go!” I shout, reaching for my flashlight and shining it under the house.
“I got nothin’ to hide. I don't want no trouble,” he calls out, just as Fox meets me around the back.
“Then don’t make us come under there, Victor,” Fox warns, his flashlight finding him first. He’s in the back corner, back to us. Either searching for a weapon or dropping his stash.
My bet he’s dropping his stash.
“Victor, we can play it two ways. You can come out, slowly making no sudden movement, or we can send the dogs in there.”
“Don’t send the dogs, man,” his shaky voice pleads back.
“Aww, look at that, Sarge, he doesn’t like dogs either.” Fox snorts, enjoying this way more than I am.
“Then slowly come out, with your hands up,” I shout, keeping my gun trained on him.
“This is fucking bullshit.” He starts cursing as he crawls his ass back out. After a few choice words, he clears the house, and I step in closer, ordering him down on the ground.
“Hands behind your back.” Fox wrestles him to the ground, and I follow him down.
“What am I under arrest for? I didn’t do nothin’” The dumb fuck tries to fight us, suddenly more brave than ten seconds ago.
“Quit resisting.” I grunt, digging my knee deeper into his back.
“I ain’t resisting.”
“You are. Relax your arms.” It takes a few a minutes to detain him, but eventually we get him.
“What the fuck were you thinking, Victor?” I ask when he’s calmed down and secured.
“I swear I didn’t mean to run. You just rolled up on me out of the blue,” he grunts out his reply as Fox pulls him up to his feet, giving him a full pat down. “I was scared.”
“You have something to be scared about?” Fox asks when he establishes he’s clean.
“Nah, man, I’m on the straight arrow.”
Straight arrow my ass.
“Well, you're not on the straight arrow today. You’re going to jail.”
“What the hell for?”
“Well for one, making me run and two, for whatever we find up under the house.”
“What? That’s some bullshit. I didn’t put nothin' under there.” He denies any wrongdoing, but guilt is etched all over his face.
“What’s up under the house, Victor?” I ask again.
“Nothin’, I’m innocent.”
“347. We have the perp in custody. We’re gonna need a K-9 unit out here." I cal
l in for the dog unit. If there’s anything up under the house, they will find it. Almost immediately, control radios back with confirmation and an estimated time.
“I have the dog coming out, Victor, so we'll know for sure then.”
“I swear I didn't drop anything.” He holds his ground, not admitting to anything.
“Good, so my dog isn't gonna find any drugs up under the house then?” I push, knowing I’m gonna find something.
“No, I mean, if there is something under there, it isn’t mine.”
“You think there are drugs under there, but someone else put them there?” I bite his play.
“I mean, maybe. I-I think I saw something.” He shrugs like it’s no big deal.
“You saw something?” It takes everything in me not to shake the fucker out of his stupidity.
“Yeah, I mean maybe.”
“How much are we talking about?” Fox steps in when he notices how hard I’m finding it to keep it together.
“Maybe, I don’t know, looked like a gram. Maybe two.”
“And you didn't touch it?” I gather myself enough to keep up the interrogation.
“Well, I mean, when I crawled up under there my hand might have touched it.”
Seriously, you can’t fucking make this shit up.
“347 to control, cancel the K-9.” I decide to go up under the house on my own. We still have Mitch in the back of the cruiser to take back to Boys Haven and the less paperwork I need to file, the better off he might be in this.
“You remember where you saw it?”
“I can’t be sure, but maybe up in the back corner somewhere.” Fox can’t hold his laughter this time, and if I wasn’t worried about Mitch getting caught up in this bullshit, then I’d be laughing right along with him.
Fortunately, a few minutes later, it becomes clear we have something to hold over Victor when I find about five grams of cocaine up under the house. If we’re lucky, we may be able to get Victor to shed some info on Dominic. Unfortunately, it means Mitch may be in more shit than the poor kid can handle.
Not the news I want to give Liberty.
“Look what I found, Victor,” I call out when I crawl back out from under the house.
