Katie felt heat burning from her core and yelled as Jacob began to move his finger inside her. She was tight and ready to come. He hooked his finger as he slowly pulled out and pushed back in, lengthening it to touch her sweet spot. Her inner walls clenched his finger tight and he could feel hot liquid flowing from her center to ease his penetration. The fact that she couldn’t control her response was beyond beautiful to him.

“That’s it, sweetheart. Let everything fall apart.” Jacob’s own shoulder muscles contracted and bunched up tightly. He was desperate to hold it together for her this first time.

He pushed a second finger inside and the burning stretching was too much for her this first time. She whimpered once and came hard, convulsing. Wet heat soaked his fingers as he pumped slowly in and out until she came, shuddering and clutching him by the shoulders. She cried out his name. He increased the speed and felt her vagina tightly close around him.

Jacob could feel that her heartbeat was a steady and out-of-control staccato. He stroked her clit once with his thumb before withdrawing his fingers. Her panties were now soaked and stretched over her swollen flesh. He kissed the soft skin of her belly, moving up to rest over her body. He could see the single tear leaking from under her eyelids and a faint sheen of sweat covering her body. He kissed her cheek and nuzzled her neck. His own breathing was also out-of-control, his body wound just as tightly, but there would be no release for Jacob tonight. He felt overwhelmed by her genuine release.

Jacob waited until both he and Katie were breathing as normally as possible. She was so quiet, almost too quiet, and he worried that maybe he had pushed things too far. He felt her shiver slightly. His dick was still hard and pushing into her left hip. He couldn’t help it and hoped she wasn’t worried about having to do something about it as a return favor.

He brushed her damp hair away from her face before speaking. “Hey, there. You okay?” Jacob leaned on his elbow and searched her eyes.

“Um, yeah…yes, just a little overwhelmed right now.” Katie sucked on her top lip nervously.

Jacob decided he needed to address a few things. He gently stroked and kissed her shoulder. “Okay. Let me just take care of something and I’ll be right back.” He moved to get up, but Katie held him back.

“Um…I could, if you want.” Jacob hoped he didn’t look surprised, but gently pried Katie’s stiff hands from his arms.

“No, Katie, not tonight. Let me take care of this. I think it would be too much right now, for both of us.” Jacob grabbed a throw blanket that had fallen to the floor and wrapped Katie up in it.

“Really, Jacob, I don’t mind.” Katie half sat up, shivering with nervousness, and the temptation was too sweet. Her hair was mussed and wild. He could smell her musky scent that was all too addicting.

Jacob kissed her on the forehead. “Let’s take things a little slower and save that for another time.”

  “Oh, okay.”

“Uh, if you need the bathroom for anything, there’s one over there.” Jacob nodded to a dimly lit hallway and open door to the right of the large living room.

“Thank-you.” She shyly looked away, towards the bathroom.

“I’ll be right back,” he said. Katie watched him head for what she supposed was the master bathroom. As soon as he left, she looked down and felt her body still humming from the high of coming so hard. She must be totally disheveled. Her hair felt a bit tangled and she looked for her pink bra, finding it under the coffee table. Her dress was on the other side of the couch. Katie definitely felt wanton, but didn’t know what to make of Jacob’s slight rejection. On unsteady legs, she stood up and went into the bathroom.

JACOB SHUT THE DOOR TO his private bathroom and leaned against it. The mirror reflected his dark eyes, pupils dilated, hair wildly sticking up, and tiny unintentional scratches on his shoulders. He smoothed his hair back into place. He couldn’t go back in there and explain to Katie that he felt guilty having her suck him off because he knew more about her than he was saying. She would find it scary and creepy. What woman wouldn’t be freaked out by a guy who was, kind of sort of, stalking her? It was becoming a totally unfair situation. He would risk losing her if he told her the truth now. How could he know if she wouldn’t run to the police or her news station to expose him, and possibly his closely-knit friends, as an off-the-books government agent? She would want justice for her friend, Tully, and rightfully so. He groaned into the wall and looked heavenward for answers that wouldn’t be coming any time soon.

Katie cleaned herself up and winced at how tender she felt between her legs. It had been a long time for her, but her body still hummed in a new way. She looked at her reflection in the bright light of the bathroom. Her hair was disheveled, and her makeup was completely gone and was replaced by a slight sparkle in the eyes of a woman well and recently loved. She tied her dress snuggly around her middle, knotting it securely. She wouldn’t mind a repeat act with Jacob, but she felt like she also needed a reprieve to think things through. She tried to tame her hair, and splashed her face with cool water. Her legs felt wobbly, like a newborn filly, and she was beginning to suspect that she could fall for Jacob quite easily. Katie was quick to repair her appearance and went back to the living room. She checked the wall clock and noted that it was past 12:30am. She looked out the glass windows at the sparkling lights of the “city that never sleeps”.

Jacob took a deep breath and lifted the toilet seat. Only one way to man up now, he thought. Instead of terrifying his “not yet girlfriend”, he decided he better start working on his shitty karma, starting with his aching dick. Who knew that jerking off could be classified as a noble act? It must be somewhere in the orientation spy shit manual that Eli forgot to give him. Jacob thought back to Katie’s high-pitched girly whimpers that she tried so hard to repress, and her hot fluid gushing into his hand. It truly didn’t take much more thought beyond that and, with a few good strokes, Jacob was releasing himself into the lonely porcelain bowl. He had to stand close to the wall and lean on his one arm, catching his breath against the cool marble wall. He cleaned himself up, changing his clothes and checking on Hauk. He was blissfully snoring, pillows from his bed thrown to the floor and paws crossed over his big nose.

He went back into the living room and saw Katie with her back to him, looking out the window. Her silhouette showing her slender form, he came up behind her and loosely put his arms around her. Being so much taller, he was able to rest his chin on top of her head. They stood like that for a few minutes, and he took in her scent and heartbeat.

“You have a wonderful view of the city.” She leaned back against his warm chest.

“I like the view in here better.” Jacob didn’t know how the words came so easy to him, but he meant them. She laughed and turned in his arms, hugging him. She laid her head on his chest, and it nearly broke him.

“Do you think those photographers are still outside?”

“I don’t know, but probably not. I think they got the photos they wanted and left. If they are still downstairs, you could stay the night and I’ll drive you back in the morning.” Jacob rubbed Katie’s back, reassuringly. Quietly, she looked up at him. Jacob could sense her brain was wrestling with his offer. He rubbed the worry lines from her temple, answering her unasked question, “I promise, Katie. I’ll even sleep in the guest room.”

Her expression was slightly comical and slightly less trusting. “But I would have to leave at some point and they might always be there. If you don’t mind, I should get back home.” Katie began to ponder what the heck she had gotten herself into.

“Of course I don’t mind. You’re a brave girl. I’ll grab my keys and take you home.”

  “How’s Hauk?”

He laughed. “Sleeping soundly and has taken over my bed.” Just like you’re taking over my heart, he mused.

He grabbed his keys and they headed to the garage. Jacob immediately stiffened when he saw the black SUV parked a few spots down from his jag. Katie looked up and felt sl
ightly alarmed since the photographing incident was just hours before. “It’s okay. Just some other tenants of the building who must have been out late.” He guided her to the car.

“Oh, I guess I didn’t realize the building had other tenants, too.” He held the door open, watching the car and Katie slipped inside.

“Yeah, sometimes I wish it didn’t. Don’t worry about my neighbors, though. They have been carefully selected to be discrete.” Jacob nodded to Eli in the SUV and got Katie secured in the car before getting in on his side. Great. Wonderful. He’d have to deal with that when he got back, too.

The ride to Brooklyn was quiet, but in a relaxing way. She was starting to feel sleepy and did her best to not yawn during the twenty minute ride. By the time Jacob parked outside her brownstone, he had to gradually nudge her awake. Cupping her shoulder, he brushed her hair back from her face, tucking it behind her ear. “Wake up, sweetheart. You’re home.”

“Oh, sorry. I didn’t realize how tired I was getting.” Katie took a deep breath, trying to wake herself.

“That’s okay. Maybe next time I’ll just keep you at my place.”

Katie laughed and turned towards him. “I might be okay with that, you know, next time.” Katie leaned over to Jacob and kissed him. Initiating things, she pulled his bottom lip into her mouth and Jacob could feel himself responding fast.

“Easy, Katie. I might just drive this car right back over the bridge and not let you out.” She laughed and knew that Jacob was back to being his playful self.

“So I was thinking that, maybe on Saturday, you and that adorable dog of yours could come over here. Maybe explore Prospect Park a little or go for a jog.”

“I’d like that. How about I bring breakfast and a Frisbee.”

“That sounds great. I hope 8:00am isn’t too early. The park can get a little crowded after 9:00 and the forecast is calling for a nice warm-up. I don’t like running when it’s too hot.”

“It sounds perfect. I’ll see you then.”

On her still wobbly legs, Katie got out of the car and made her way up to her apartment. Jacob waited until she got inside before leaving. He raced the jaguar back across the bridge so he could meet with Eli. He was zipping through neighborhoods, finally pulling into the secure garage. He parked in his spot and got out. Eli got out of the SUV, nodding briskly. It felt like ripping a Band-Aid off every time he spoke with his brother; annoying, but necessary.

  “Jacob.”

“Let’s get upstairs. I’m tired and you’re not here to be social.” Jacob growled out the words because he was in a foul mood. One, because Eli really was keeping tabs on him at this point and two, because it brought home the reality of his dangerous association to Katie.

“Grumpy much, my brother? I was hoping you’d have gotten her out of your system by now.” Eli followed Jacob and stopped short as his younger brother turned around, glaring.

“Do not fucking go there, Eli.” Eli put his hands up in a peacekeeping gesture and followed him into the elevator. Jacob entered his dark apartment, turning lights on as he went. Hauk came out of the bedroom, stretching and waiting for Jacob to acknowledge him before whining and thumping his tail on the floor.

“Geez, you have a sex fest here tonight?” Eli looked around, taking in the uncharacteristic mess of Jacob’s loft. Couch cushions were thrown around and the coffee table was askew.

Jacob ignored his brother’s question. “Eli, say what you want or get out.”

“I need your cooperation, Jacob.” Eli placed another manila envelope on his counter.

“I’m really starting to dislike your gifts, Eli. It’s not my birthday and nowhere near Christmas.”

He took the envelope and dumped the contents out, more photos sliding from the file folder inside. Images of a vaguely familiar warehouse slid out. Grainy photos of Jacob carrying Katie out of the building and getting into the SUV were shown. More photos showed Jacob bringing an unconscious Katie into Mercy General Hospital hours later.

  “What the fuck is this?”

“More photos from an encrypted source, only now they’re fucking mocking us because they were there that night and, whoever they are, they know.” Eli shrugged, frustrated.

Jacob hit the counter with his fist. “Obviously someone’s been up our asses from the beginning.”

“I realize that, but there’s nothing I can do as far as identifying the sender. Nick is still working on it, but he’s also tied up out west right now.”

“And I can help you how?”

“Rick Chambers wants to meet, and I have a feeling he’s going to put pressure on us to get Cosovo.”

  “That CIA prick?”

“The one and only. I would need you to fly out immediately, though. The team is going to need someone to man the technical side of things and get Intel on Cosovo. I have a feeling Chambers is the one keeping tabs on us for leverage.”

  “How immediately?”

  “Like tomorrow, Jacob.”

“I’ll fly out Saturday. I have to wrap some things up and I can’t leave Katie hanging unprotected.” Jacob was trying to mentally figure out how to explain his absence. “I don’t want her to feel uneasy, and I’m starting a relationship with her whether you like it or approve of it. I’m not letting her go.”

Eli grunted at Jacob, but nodded. “I can leave some men behind and put them on the clock.”

Jacob shook his head. “No, I don’t want her followed. The paparazzi is bad enough.”

“My men aren’t the fucking amateurs the paparazzi employs. I doubt you lovebirds have even noticed my guy on you,” Eli countered. “Fuck off, Jacob. You’re still my pain in the ass baby brother and it’s for your safety as much as hers.”

“I was thinking that if I don’t need Hauk for the mission, I might ask if Katie would want to take him for the weekend or, better yet, stay here. At least my loft has actual security and, soon, most of the team will be living here.” Once Jacob declared his intentions Eli went ballistic.

“Are you fucking crazy? The Tower has all sorts of restricted floors for our business. Julian’s lab and Intel operations are here. It’s one thing to bring her here to screw around, but another to ‘keep her here’, as you put it.”

“Look, Eli, she’ll only have the code for my penthouse and she can’t access the other floors from this elevator. Only the other tenant floors are accessible, and I doubt Lulu will be inviting her over for tea or to spar krav maga.”

“Lulu is going with you knuckleheads. She’s the bait.” Eli laughed.

“You’re all crazy. I hope she’s not arguing with Julian this week because I don’t want to deal with either of them.”

“I’m sure Nick can moderate them just fine. I need you to run the surveillance, though.”

“Yeah, whatever.” Jacob ran his hand through his hair, tiredly tapping his pants.

“Fine. I will email you further details.” Eli left and Jacob wondered what Katie might say when he told her he had to go out of town on “business”.

Friday morning came all too soon for Katie. She fell into a deep sleep after Jacob had brought her home. Her dreams were hot and when she woke up, she forced herself to stand in the cold shower to clear all the thoughts from her head. She could very quickly get herself lost in Jacob, and she was barely finding her own solid footing right now. As she stepped out of the shower, her phone was ringing. It registered out of state on her caller ID, but the number was familiar so, wrapped in a towel, Katie picked it up and started her coffee maker.

“Kathleen Marguerite Wilson, why am I seeing inappropriate pictures of you on page six?” Her mother’s tone of voice brought her back to being a little girl. She imagined her mom, Mary Kathleen Wilson, small and formidable and beginning her well-prepared lecture.

“Um…good morning, Mom?” Katie poured herself a cup of coffee and downed the scalding liquid, audibly groaning as she took in what her mother was saying. Her phone beeped, indicating that another call was coming in.

“Is this how you tell your family that you’re seeing someone? Kissing on a street corner?! Your Aunt Mary almost had a heart attack.” Half-listening, Katie downed the rest of her first, badly needed cup of coffee. Mary Marguerite was her mother’s sister and her Grandmother had a thing for the holy mother and called her children by both their first and middle names.

“Sorry? Listen, Mom. Work’s calling so I have to go. I’ll call you in a bit.” Katie winced, knowing this was not the end of the conversation, and pushed the “call waiting” button.

“Katie! Oh, my god, you minx! I just got my paper. Jacob moves quickly.” Trevor feigned shock, but sounded like he was giggling and trying to growl like a cat at the same time.

“Trevor, I haven’t even seen the paper yet and my mother just called. How bad is it?” Katie poured a second cup of coffee and sat on the couch. She had the urge to bury her head in a sandbox.

“Well, you look very fashionable. Thank god you’re in the magenta wrap dress. Jacob is holding you just right because the camera angle really nips your waistline in.”

“Trevor!” Katie was ready to snap.

“You guys are standing on the corner of his block and it’s a full kiss.” Trevor could hear Katie whimper. She remembered every aching detail. His hands on her hips, arching her back just so, his lips opening her mouth as his tongue made contact and slid in, his hand slowly sliding up her back and into her hair, tangling the loose mass of curls.

“Really?” Fanning herself, she contemplated a second cold shower.

“Obviously, my love, he has his tongue in your mouth. However, I must say it looks like you’re both enjoying yourselves immensely.” She swore Trevor was getting as excited as she was.

  “My poor parents.”

“Well, page seven gets better because the two of you are running into his building. He’s so protective. I bet women will be swooning with envy, or plotting your early demise.”

“Just wonderful. I bet Lindsey will be one of them. Why can’t I have a normal life, Trevor?”
