“Why are you getting ready?” she drawled.

“Your sister is on her way over with Christian. We’re going out to Shenanigans. A party in our honor.”

  She sat up. “What?”

“Toryn wants to show his appreciation.”

“Oh.” She climbed to her feet and started for the bathroom.

“We don’t have a lot of time.”

“I won’t be long.” She was back a few moments later.

He moved behind her and guided her to the walk-in closet. Her clothes were all there.

She turned to him, her brow pinched. “You moved me in?”

He bit his lip, then blurted out. “We don’t have to hide. I want you to live with me. Your apartment is nice, but my place is warded. Please, move in.”

A laugh escaped. “You should have asked before bringing my stuff over.”

  He nodded, ducking his head.

She caught his face and dragged him in for a long kiss. When she pulled back, she breathed, “Yes.”

  “Really?”

She nodded. “I can’t imagine being anywhere else.”

“Then get dressed, and we’ll be back here tonight, in our bed.”

“Mmm, I like the sound of that.”

“Hurry. They’ll be here soon.” He pulled on his clothes and took his shoes to the living room.

She found a dress and did her makeup. She entered the living room in time for Delilah and Christian to arrive.

Delilah looked past Brent and slipped inside, rushing to her. “You look gorgeous.”

  Brent nodded. “Very.”

“Thanks, and you look lovely. I don’t know why we’re having this party,” Amelia muttered.

“Does it matter?” Brent asked. “Toryn likes to celebrate. And he saw a reason after last night.”

She laughed. “As long as it doesn’t wind up like Scotty’s party, I can handle it.”

“Heard about that. And you were human then,” Delilah teased.

Amelia ducked her gaze. “I was fine. I stayed out of the way then.”

Brent snorted. “You broke a bottle over one siren’s head and stabbed a second with the rest of it.”

She lifted a shoulder. “I simply defended myself. I didn’t wade into the battle. I tried to stay out of the way.”

He grinned. “I’m glad you stayed out of the way. Now, you would slaughter them all.”

“Whatever,” Delilah said. “Are we going?”

  Brent nodded. “Definitely.”

Christian shook his head. “Tonight will be fun. Nothing too crazy.”

  * * * *

Brent held on to Amelia’s arm. It felt good to have her at his side. No more pushing her away, no more hiding the truth. She accepted everything about him.

They stepped into the bar, and everyone cheered. She ducked her gaze and moved closer to Brent.

  “They’re here for you.”

  “And you,” she whispered.

“Us. We finally get to be together in front of everyone. No more hiding.”

She turned to him and planted a kiss on his lips.
