“Will you think I’m a big man-whore if I tell you I bought the twelve-pack at the drugstore yesterday?”

“I want you so badly,” she said.

“I want you, too, darlin’.” He reached over her head and yanked the bedding down with one big paw so she could scramble under the sheet. The party hats were in his overnight bag. “Hang on. I’ll be right back.” He crossed the room on a run, banged his shin on the coffee table, and let out a “Shit!” But he managed to grab his bag.

She sat up, the sheet falling away from the perfect breasts he remembered. He couldn’t wait to get his hands—and his mouth—on them again.

  “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

He grabbed the box of condoms. “I’m fine.” His shin hurt like a mother, but what was a bruise when he was about to make love to a woman he hadn’t been able to forget for the past ten years?

While he was at it, he grabbed the still-chilled bottle of Riesling from the coffee table he’d just crashed into. He could think of some interesting uses for the wine, but they would happen a little later. Right now, he was going to get back in that bed, suit up, and make sure she enjoyed herself.

Cameron pulled him back into the nest of pillows and blankets with her, shoving the sheet off so she could see his leg. “Let me see.” She bent closer to get a better look. “It’s all red. Are you sure you didn’t hurt yourself? It might be a little swollen—”

“It’s fine,” he told her. “Don’t worry about it.”

  “Doesn’t it hurt?”

  “Hell, no.”

He ripped the pull tab right off the box, grabbed a foil-covered condom, and tossed the rest of the mangled box onto the nightstand next to the bed, tearing open the foil packet with his teeth. Attempting to roll the slippery latex disc onto himself and kissing her at the same time took more dexterity than he possessed at the moment.

  “Shit,” he muttered. “They’re tricky.”

SHE HAD TO grin. Seeing someone typically so in-charge fumble with a condom was adorable. “I’ve got it.” She took it out of his fingers.

She held it up, noted which way she needed to roll, and pulled it over the head of his penis. She knelt in the bed next to him. Instead of rolling the condom on with her fingertips, though, she pushed him onto his back and used her mouth to make sure it was on correctly. He groaned. He moaned. He begged.

“Jesus. Where did you learn—oh, hell, I don’t give a shit. God, that feels good,” he said through slitted eyes and clenched teeth. He speared his hands into her hair, but he let her decide where she was going next instead of pushing her head down. She took the head of his penis into her mouth, swallowed, and heard him gasp.

  “Want more?”

“Fuck, yeah. Your mouth—” He groaned again. “That feels—Jesus!”

It took a few more minutes to make sure the condom was secure, and she swirled her tongue over his thick, long penis as she slowly inched the latex to the root. She cupped his balls in her hand, too, gently manipulating them as her mouth moved over him.

An already excited and aroused man grew even more so, and she heard him say, “Jesus, Cam, I can’t hold it, I—Fuck!”

HE’D TRIED EVERYTHING. Multiplication tables, thinking about Sharks defensive sets, remembering the last meeting he’d had with his financial advisor. Nothing helped. Her mouth was warm, wet and soft, and she seemed to know exactly where he wanted it and what he wanted her to do with it. Then again, anywhere on his penis worked for him. The oral stimulation combined with the visual of a naked, gorgeous Cameron in daylight was more than any guy could withstand.

At least he hadn’t made a mess.

She sprawled across him. He cupped her ass in one palm.

  “How’s your shin?” she asked.

“Darlin’, my shin’s the last thing on my mind right now.” He let out a breath. “I—I—God. I came so hard.”

He saw the flush creeping over her cheekbones again. She was an intriguing mix of siren and sinner, but he remembered that, too. “I’m glad you liked it.”

“There isn’t a guy in the world that wouldn’t like it.”

She propped herself up on one elbow and didn’t meet his eyes. “I read about putting a condom on a guy with my mouth. I wondered if it really worked.”

He let out a chuckle. “Uh, yeah.” Knowing she’d tried something new with him sent a thrill through his entire body. He felt a little embarrassment that he couldn’t last under her onslaught, but there wasn’t a guy on the planet that wasn’t going to make sure she had even more fun than he had. First, though, he needed to make a pit stop. He reached out to kiss her again.

“I’ll be right back,” he said.

He got rid of the used condom, wiped himself off a little so putting the next one on wouldn’t be such a pain in the ass, and hurried back into the bedroom. She was resting against the pillows. She’d pulled the sheet up and over herself. He got back into the bed and wrapped his arms around her again. Their mouths fused. He thrust his tongue into her mouth the way he wanted to bury himself inside of her, and he felt her tongue slipping against his.

Before they got into the car this morning, he thought about slow caresses and teasing her until neither one of them could stand it anymore. He’d enter her slowly. He’d move languidly. He’d take his time, and he’d let things build. Maybe he could try that next time, because right now, his penis had other plans. He pulled one of her nipples into his mouth while his hand strayed over her torso, moved over her belly, and traced through a small patch of pubic hair.

“Oh,” she said. He felt the little pearl between her legs. It was already slick. He rubbed one finger around it. “Oh. Oh, that feels good.”

He was about to make it feel even better. He sucked harder on her nipple. She arched against him, and he saw her reaching up to rub the other nipple he didn’t have in his mouth with her free hand. She still loved nipple stimulation, and he was going to make sure she got as much as she liked.

He stroked two of his fingers through the wetness between her legs, rubbed a little more on her clit, and she let out a long moan. Her head tossed on the pillows.

His greatest fantasy was still watching Cameron touch herself. His dick seemed to love it, too.

She was still rolling her other nipple through her fingers, pinching and manipulating it. He stroked his tongue over the hard nipple still in his mouth, and he reached a little lower. He slid two fingers into her, found her clitoris with his thumb, and stroked in and out as he rubbed her. Her legs fell open.

Her moans gave way to “Oh, God, don’t stop. Please don’t stop.”

He pulled his mouth off her nipple. “Tell me what you want,” he whispered.

“I want you to fuck me. Hard,” she said. “I want to come.”

  “Just once?” he enticed.

“No. Over and over. God. Please!” she cried out.

Her hips were moving, slamming against the mattress. He teased her clit with the heel of his hand, stroked his fingers faster and faster inside of her, and grabbed her nipple in his mouth again. She bit her lower lip, and he felt her tensing.

“I know you’re there. Come for me, Cameron.”

He was still pounding into her with two fingers. Watching her touch herself and listening to her beg him to fuck her was the hottest thing he’d ever experienced.

He felt her clenching around his fingers, and she let out a shriek. He saw the tell-tale flush of orgasm spreading across her face and upper chest, the smile that turned up the corners of her lips. He felt her body relax against him. She looked dazed. Even more, she looked sated. For the moment. He wasn’t done yet, though.

She stretched, clasped her hands behind her head, and let out a satisfied sigh. “Amazing,” she said.

He gently extracted his hand. He reached back, grabbed another condom, and managed to put it on without help this time. “You’re about to feel even better.” He pulled her legs open again. He was inside her with one long slide, and she wrapped her le
gs around his hips. She reached out to grab his ass.

“I remember this,” she said. “I remember you.”

Oh, hell, yeah. It was even better than it was before, if that was possible.

“Faster,” she said. “Oh, God, faster.”

  “You want more?”

“Yes. I—I want you. More. Harder!” she cried out. She half-sat and wrapped her arms around him again. He leaned down to kiss her and moved faster. She raked her nails down his back and cried out, “More!”

He was only too happy to accommodate.

He flipped her onto her belly, pulled her up onto her knees, entered her from behind, and kept thrusting. The best part of this position was the fact he could play with her breasts and her clit. He lightly bit the side of her neck.

“Do you know how many times I’ve dreamt about fucking you? I’d wake up hard as hell,” he said into her ear. “I’d dream about how you feel, how you smell, the noises that you make when I’m deep inside you. I dreamt about how you tasted.”

His fingers rubbed her clit. He thrust into her again and again. He was pretty sure she was so far gone she couldn’t say anything in response, so he kept talking. “I wonder how many times I can make you come in a day. Let’s find out.”

“Oh. Oh! Don’t stop,” she cried out.

He was still pounding into her, still playing with her clit with one hand, and he felt the contractions of her orgasm gripping him. She let out another loud cry. This was so much more than two bodies doing what bodies were designed to do. He could have sex with anyone, but he was making love with his sweet Cameron.

She brought him off, too. He came so hard he saw stars. He felt her slump into the bedding, and he wrapped his arms around her waist. He was still inside her. He wanted to stay.

Zach snuggled closer to Cameron as he tried to catch his breath. He nudged the hair off the side of her neck and kissed the exposed skin as he spooned around her. She slid her fingers through his. He reached out, grabbed the balled-up sheet from the foot of the bed, and tossed it over them.

“That air conditioning is frosty, isn’t it?” he blurted out and immediately wanted to hit himself with something. That was all he could come up with at a time like this? She probably expected something tender and meaningful, and he had a whole bunch of nothing right now.

Actually he did have a few things, but now he was the one who felt a little shy. He knew he didn’t have the words to tell her how thrilled he was she took the lead, or how he could encourage her to do it again. Making love with her again was even better than every erotic dream about her he’d had over the years. There was no greater aphrodisiac than being with a woman who let you know how much she wanted you, except for a woman who let you know she wanted you again.

He felt himself slip out, despite his best efforts to stay.

Cameron rolled over in his arms and traced his lower lip with one finger. “I had fun.”

  “I did, too.”

He watched her bite her lower lip. She was a little tongue-tied, too. She glanced up at him through her lashes. He pulled her closer with one arm and freed the other to cup her cheek in his hand.

“You know I have to kiss you now,” he whispered.

TWO HOURS LATER, hunger and thirst drove Zach and Cameron to temporarily abandon the bed. They’d have to clean up the foil wrappers on the rug next to Zach’s side of the bed. It was a good thing she’d bought the big box, too. She couldn’t stop the grin that spread over her face again.

They pulled on hotel-provided white terry robes and padded into the living room in search of the picnic basket. Zach pulled perishables out of the mini-refrigerator. Cameron popped a few grapes into her mouth as she spread the bounty across the coffee table.

“No PB and J?” Zach joked.

“Not unless it’s organic.” She pulled out a sliced loaf of crusty bread and nodded at a selection of toppings. There was more sliced fresh fruit, a bag of sweet potato chips, a green salad with dried cranberries, walnuts and feta cheese, dressing, olives, and a package of grilled chicken. There was a package of salted caramels, and another container of some type of cookie bar she’d never had before. She popped the lid on them and held it out for Zach.

  “Dessert first?” he said.

  “Always.”

He pulled a bar out of the container and held it up to her lips. “Take a bite.”

Normally she would refuse what looked like a calorie-laden treat, but she had to try it. She almost moaned aloud as chocolate ganache, coconut, and buttercream frosting exploded on her tongue. She held the bar up for him to take a bite, too.

“We’re going to have to talk the chef out of a few more of those before we leave,” he said. “They taste almost as good as you do.”

They made a respectable dent in the food. Zach poured them each another glass of wine. Cameron tucked her legs beneath her and put her almost-empty plate on a side table. Zach shook the container of cookie bars at her again. “There’s two left.”

“Let’s leave them for a midnight snack,” she said.

“Perfect.” He cleared off a place on the coffee table and put his feet up. “So, darlin’, I believe I promised you we’d have a conversation about a couple of things.”

  Chapter Nineteen

  * * *

THE SUN WAS still high overhead and streaming through the windows of Zach and Cameron’s suite. It was a perfect day on Whidbey Island, but they wouldn’t be going outside right now. It was time for what Zach knew might be a pretty uncomfortable conversation.

He and Cameron were still perfect for each other in his opinion, but there were a lot of problems to work out before they could ride off into the sunset together. She was worried about whether or not his sisters would accept her if their relationship continued to develop. He wasn’t especially happy to have to deal with her dad again in any capacity. Her job and her family kept her on the other side of the country. Even if the Sharks were willing to trade him, he was not going to uproot his family to play on the East Coast. When the family and geographical issues got sorted out, they could discuss the ongoing problems with the programming director of PSN being a greedy, uncaring ass who exploited them both for his own ends.

She got off the couch, opened the mini refrigerator door, and pulled out a bottle of sparkling water. She waved it in his direction. “Would you like some, too?”

  “That sounds great.”

She grabbed another bottle, returned to the couch, and handed it to him. They were both stalling, but he knew the longer they put it off, the worse it would be.

“Let’s start with the easy stuff,” he said as he reached out for her hand. “I want you. I want to stay with you.” He hauled in a breath. Suddenly, he felt like a teenager asking the prettiest girl in his class on a date, with all the accompanying nerves and adrenaline rush. Maybe he should try to keep this light. “Would you like to go steady, as my grandma would say?”

She burst out laughing, but her eyes softened. “I want you, too. I missed you and I—” She scooted closer to him on the couch, pulling her legs up beneath her and leaning into his side. “Then let’s go steady.” She reached out to kiss his cheek. “Does this mean we’ll be together on national holidays?”

  “Absolutely.”

“So, what does this—a relationship—look like for us?” she asked.

“We’ll hang out. We’ll date. We’ll have fun together. What do you think?”

He saw her lips curve into a wistful smile. “I’m pretty sure I’d like that. So, we’ll hang out together and see what happens?”

His voice was soft. “I’m in it for a lot more than ‘seeing what happens’ between us, Cameron. Are you, too?” He caught her hand in his much bigger one and brought it up to his lips to kiss her knuckles.

  “Yes,” she whispered.

He had to kiss her again. Truthfully, he never wanted to stop kissing her. Her mouth was so soft against his, and he felt her arms slide around his neck. She even managed to not club h
im with the sparkling water bottle she still held, which was nice. Mostly, he couldn’t get enough of how she felt, how she tasted and how he wanted to take her right back to bed. If he did, though, they’d never get any of the stuff between them out on the table, and it needed to happen.

“Speaking of hanging out, I would really like it if you would come over to my house and have dinner with my sisters and my grandma after my game this weekend,” he said. “I’ll get a day off, and I’d like to spend it with you.”

“Zach, your sister Whitney can’t stand me.” She tucked her legs beneath her again and took a sip of water. She didn’t meet his eyes.

“That’s not true. My sisters are angry about what happened before. I told them they need to give you a chance, and the only way that’s going to happen is if you all spend some time together.”

She finally looked at him, but the smile slid off of her face.

“I’m not sure having dinner with them is going to work. At all.”

“Just once. Will you have dinner with them once? If it doesn’t work, I’ll accept the blame.”

“Maybe we should let them get used to the idea first,” she said.

He cleared a spot on the table and propped his legs on it. His shin still ached a little. It was nothing compared to how he felt at the look on Cameron’s face. She wasn’t happy. She set her bottle of water on the end table next to her and folded her arms across her chest.

She heaved a sigh. “I don’t understand. Why is this so important to you?”

“I realize it’s rude to answer a question with a question, but when was the last time you spent any time at all with your family? How did that go?”

She tightened both arms around herself and looked at the floor. “I saw them at my sister’s wedding. It was fine.”

“That was several weeks ago. Do you visit often? Do you spend time together, or do you only see them once or twice a year, or whenever your dad decides to fly in somewhere?”

  “We’re all pretty busy—”

“Not too busy to spend time with the people who are always in your corner,” he said.
