They were afraid of the members of the Main branch of the Dark Moon Family Clan who were on Grandura, even though Divine Martial Sect also had a Main branch established on a Divine World. Their Main branch was too weak in comparison and was unable to help them in this situation by sending someone.
So the Grandura branch of the Divine Martial Sect was being bullied openly by the Dark Moon Family Clan.
The Dark Moon Family Clan was adamant about the marriage because of the Support Abilities of Life Attribute Martial Artists, who are valued for their ability to treat all kind of injuries and create pills that can increase the life spans of Mortal Realm Martial Artists. Life Attribute Martial Artists are indispensable for any powerful faction that wishes to maintain its standing, as even Mortal Realm Martial Artists with no hope of ever become Immortals can become one after using Life-span increasing pills. By these means, Life Attribute Martial Artists increase the power of their factions indirectly. All these reasons freaked out the Dark Moon Family Clan – they wanted Cynthia to join their Family Clan at all costs.
The other factions on Grandura were also watching the situation keenly, as everyone wanted Cynthia as a daughter-in-law. All of them were patiently waiting for Cynthia to turn twenty. If Rai was unable to successfully court Cynthia, the marriage agreement would lose its validity and they could then try to ask for Cynthia’s hand-in-marriage.
At that time, the rest of the factions would no longer be polite with the Dark Moon Family Clan if they tried to protest, as the marriage agreement between the Raffle Family Clan and the Dark Moon Family Clan would have lost its validity. They wouldn’t think twice about being hostile to the Dark Moon Family Clan then – and the Dark Moon Family Clan clearly knew that.
Ryan was relieved when he knew these things. He was so happy that he had a smiling expression for half a day, but he still had to worry about the tricks that the Dark Moon Family Clan might employ to get Cynthia to join their Family Clan. His Master had warned him that the Dark Moon Family Clan wouldn’t give up on Cynthia that easily.
The best part was that the Heaven Sundering Family Clan and Dark Moon Family Clan were not on good terms. Ryan was certain that the Heaven Sundering Family Clan wouldn’t have any problem if he made a move on Cynthia: on the contrary, they would be happy.
Currently, Ryan was sitting inside his Cultivation chamber and cultivating Fire Elemental Laws for the past few days. He had recently been concentrating only on Death Elemental Laws and Poison Elemental Laws, so his understanding in Fire Elemental Laws was lacking in comparison.
As Ryan was cultivating Fire Elemental Laws he felt some changes happening to the two variant flames inside his body. The Hell’s Fire flame that was vigorously burning around his Death Fire Dual Attribute Soul Core and the Devil’s Flame around his Fire Attribute Soul Core started to burn many times more strongly than before as his insights in Fire Elemental Laws increased.
A smile appeared on Ryan’s face, as his understanding in Fire Elemental Laws had finally caught up with his understanding in Death Elemental Laws. He could finally advance his Soul Cores to Mortal Lord Realm!
Ch.19
Ryan decided to advance his Death Fire Dual Attribute Soul Core before his Fire Attribute and Poison Attribute Soul Cores, as his understanding in Elemental Laws was finally way above the required threshold to advance to the next sub-realm. He started cultivating by converting Death Elemental Energy from Death Sword into Death Attribute Spirit Power until his Death Fire Dual Attribute Soul Core was filled with Death Attribute Spirit Power. Two-thirds was filled with Liquid Death Attribute Spirit Power, while the remaining one-third was filled with Gaseous Death Attribute Spirit Power.
Ryan started compressing the Gaseous Death Attribute Spirit Power in his Death Fire Dual Attribute Soul Core. Since Ryan’s insights in Death Elemental Laws were already beyond the threshold requirement for breakthrough to the Mortal Lord, the conversion happened easily and soon all his Death Fire Dual Attribute Soul Core was filled with Liquid Spirit Power.
Boom!!
His Death Fire Dual Attribute Soul Core successfully advanced to Mortal Lord Realm. His Death Fire Dual Attribute Soul Core was burning vigorously with violent Hell’s Fire Flame, and as well, an staggeringly dense Death aura covered it. Ryan could feel changes happening to his Death Fire Dual Attribute Soul Core. Soon, his body was covered in Hell’s Fire flame, Death aura and Baleful aura and he could feel his bodily toughness and strength increasing. The process lasted for quite some time. His Death Fire Dual Attribute Soul Core was wholly filled with Liquid Death Attribute Spirit Power, which was many times more pure than the Liquid Death Attribute Spirit Power he’d had in the Mortal Elite Realm. Ryan could now use Liquid Spirit Power directly, which would make his combat prowess increase manyfold.
Ryan could feel that his strength and powers had increased by leaps and bounds. His Soul had also strengthened manyfold and was now comparable to that of an Early Mortal Emperor Realm Martial Artist. That would directly affect the power of his Soul attacks. Ryan’s Baleful aura had also had a qualitative change, as it had become many times more potent and powerful than before. Even Early Mortal King Realm Martial Artists would have a hard time against it.
The capacity of his Death Fire Dual Attribute Soul Core had increased tenfold, which had alarmed Ryan, as generally a Normal Martial Artist’s Soul Core’s capacity increases fivefold.
“It is due to you possessing Asura Physique,” Yama reassured him.
“The Elemental Core of an Asura has a large capacity to hold massive quantities of Death and Fire Elemental energies. Since you have Asura Physique, your Soul Cores have undergone mutations allowing your Soul Cores to have a higher capacity than Martial Artists with a similar a Cultivation Level to you,” Yama explained.
Ryan’s mouth opened wide on hearing Yama’s explanation, but a jubilant smile appeared on his face soon afterwards. If he had more Spirit Power, then he’d be able to fight for longer, which provided an unrivaled advantage over other Martial Artists.
“So that’s how it is,” Ryan said. He still had a smile on his face as he thought of a different situation, where he would trump his enemies due to his possessing excessive Death Attribute Spirit Power.
Ryan was certain that now he could easily deal with Early Mortal King Realm Martial Artists and could contend against Mid Mortal King Realm Martial Artists in a fight due to the increase in his bodily strength and toughness.
The explosive power in his punches and kicks was powerful enough to lethally injure an Early Mortal King Realm Martial Artist. His body was so tough that now no Early Mortal Emperor Realm Martial Artist could injure him and Mid Mortal Emperor Realm Martial Artist would have a hard time injuring him. The Hell’s Fire Flame had become more violent and destructive, so Ryan could burn an Early Mortal King Martial Artist into nothingness extremely easily.
As Ryan was enjoying the moment, he felt a painful headache as if his brain would split apart. The pain lasted for only a few minutes, but there was no way he wanted to experience it again. He felt that his senses had become many times stronger than before – he was able to sense even the dust particles in the air.
It didn’t take long for Ryan to guess the reason for this: he had awakened his Soul-sense, which is an ability that is awakened by beings upon stepping into Early Mortal Lord Realm.
Ryan activated his newly awakened Soul-sense and expanded it to its maximum range. It spread for about ten meters. Ryan was once again stunned, but he knew the reason for that too. Generally, the range of the Soul-sense of an Early Mortal Lord Realm Martial Artist is about five meters, but Ryan’s was double that.
“Your Soul-sense is also different from that of a Normal Martial Artist. It is as sensitive as an Asura’s Soul-sense,” Yama said with a smile and Ryan nodded his head. He was euphoric. Since he had a powerful Soul-sense, he would have a better understanding of his surroundings, so it would be very difficult to launch a Sneak attack on him.
Soon aft
erwards, Ryan’s body was shrouded in Unholy black light and his eyes sparkled with excitement. Yama was also shrouded in Unholy black light and one of the numerous seals on his body was shining the brightest. Soon that seal disappeared, and the Unholy black light disappeared along with it. That signified the unsealing of an Innate Ability, and the moment it was unsealed the information regarding it appeared in Ryan’s mind.
The new Innate Ability was a support type Innate Ability, which boosted both attack and defense for any Undead creatures under Ryan’s control. It was a passive Innate Ability, which meant that it didn’t consume Ryan’s Spirit Power, and thus, by default, gave a boost to all the Undead creatures under his control. Ryan decided to call this Innate skill, Evil Boost.
“Yama, I’ve just unsealed an Innate Ability of yours,” Ryan said with excitement. Anyone could tell that Ryan’s current mood was exceptional. The Evil Boost Innate Ability would allow him to execute a lot of his plans with ease.
“I know. Let’s head to some Death land as soon as possible,” Yama replied with a laugh, as his mood was no different from Ryan’s.
“This ability will allow you to create a powerful army of Undead creatures,” Dargar said with excitement. Just thinking about Ryan commanding thousands of Undead creatures excited him.
“Yama’s suggestion is good. We should head for a Death land as soon as possible.
“Ryan, ask your Master for a powerful Master-slave Contract Martial Skill, which could be used on a variety of Undead creatures. Once you master that Martial Skill, then we can head to a Death land,” Earl said as he echoed Yama's suggestion.
“OK. I’ll go and ask Master for a Master-slave Contract Martial Skill after advancing my Fire Attribute Soul Core and Poison Attribute Soul Core,” Ryan said as he called out Caius.
Caius flew out of Ryan’s hair and Ryan passed him forty to fifty high-grade Poison Elemental stones. Caius quickly absorbed all the Poison Elemental Energy contained in them and started emitting exceptionally pure Poison Elemental Energy, which Ryan absorbed and then began cultivating Poison Elemental Laws.
The Poison Elemental Energy quickly converted into Poison Attribute Spirit Power. Ryan compressed the Gaseous Poison Attribute Spirit Power in his Soul Core, and it did not take long for Ryan’s Poison Attribute Soul Core to advance to Early Mortal Lord Realm. All his Poison Attribute Soul Core was filled with Liquid Poison Attribute Spirit Power – and its capacity was ten times more than that of a Normal Mortal Lord Martial Artist.
His Poison Attribute Soul Core was covered in an especially toxic aura, which then spread around Ryan’s body. This time Ryan didn’t receive any boost in his bodily strength or toughness and his soul didn’t get strengthened either. The toxic aura disappeared after some time, when Ryan’s Poison Attribute Soul Core successfully advanced to Early Mortal Lord Realm. The moment the toxic aura around his body disappeared, his body was covered in green light. Dargar was also wrapped in a similar light inside Ryan’s Soul World, and one of the seals on his body shone brightly.
A big smile appeared on Ryan’s face: this was definitely his lucky day! He had unsealed an Innate Ability of Dargar’s. Soon the green light disappeared and the seal that was shining brightest on Dargar’s body disappeared too. Ryan had gained an Innate Ability of Emerald Viper and the information about it appeared in Ryan’s mind.
This Innate Ability was an attack type Innate Ability, Hallucinating gas emitted by Emerald vipers. The gas would directly attack the minds of enemies provided their souls were weaker than Ryan’s. Their worst nightmares would become real right in front of their eyes, and if they remained under the effect of the Hallucinating gas for an extended period, then they might turn into retards.
“Dargar, this Innate Ability of yours is unbelievably terrifying. With it, I would be able to deal with side characters extremely easily,” Ryan said. He was so pleased with this Innate Ability.
“Well, this is an Innate Ability of Emerald vipers. It is bound to be overpowered,” Dargar said with a loud laughter. He was happy too as he now had another attack in his arsenal. Earlier, he could only rely on Emerald fog and his Asura body to fight alongside Ryan, but now he’d be able to use this new Innate Ability to take out enemies.
“Let’s call it Nightmare gas,” Yama suggested.
“I like the name,” Earl said in agreement and Ryan and Dargar also nodded their heads in agreement.
Ryan then started with the advancement of his Fire Attribute Soul Core. It happened without any problem and Ryan’s Fire Attribute Soul Core advanced to Early Mortal Lord Realm as well. Again, Ryan didn’t receive any boost in physical capabilities, neither did his soul strengthen, but Devil’s flame became more violent and destructive just like Hell’s Fire flame. Ryan could now use Devil’s flame to turn an Early Mortal King Realm Martial Artist into nothingness without him being able to resist.
Ryan was sure now that Early Mortal King Realm Martial Artists or other beings of similar cultivation would have no chance against him. He exited the Cultivation chamber and did not change his fake Cultivation Level. It still showed as Early Mortal Elite Realm, so if someone with a Cultivation Level below Mid Mortal King Realm were to mess with Ryan, then he or she would pay a heavy price for sure.
Ryan directly went to the living room of the mansion. His Master had been reading some books and other manuscripts for the previous two months. These books contained the medical knowledge of some Ancient Poison Martial Artist and his Master had found them recently while exploring some ruins. According to Raymond, the person who wrote these manuscripts and books was better than him in the field of medicine, so he would study them with the intention of improving his own medical knowledge and skills.
Raymond closed the book as he sensed Ryan approaching the living room. He had an expectant look on his face, as Raymond knew that Ryan had been trying to advance his Soul Cores to Mortal Lord Realm. If not for the camouflage ability of Death Sword, Raymond would have already perceived Ryan’s real Cultivation Level the moment he left his Cultivation chamber. Even Raymond marveled at the camouflage ability of Death Sword, as he was unable to sense the real Cultivation Level of Ryan no matter how hard he tried.
Ryan opened the door to the living room and saw Raymond smiling at him. Ryan nodded his head and smiled back, as he walked towards Raymond.
Raymond got up and patted Ryan’s shoulder and said, “Keep it up, Ryan. So long as you enter Late Mortal King Realm, I will personally take you the God’s Domain entrance.”
Raymond knew how heaven defying Ryan’s Physique was, so maiming a Late Mortal Emperor Realm Martial Artist wouldn’t be a big deal for him, as long he became a Late Mortal King Realm Martial Artist. This would increase his chances of dealing with Rai, as Raymond was certain that Rai would have a Cultivation Level of Late Emperor Realm or Early Mortal Sage Realm by the time the God Domain opened. Ryan would have to possess a Cultivation Level of Late Mortal King Realm at least, in order to deal with Rai. Otherwise, Ryan would have no chance of killing him.
“I’m sure I will reach Late Mortal King Realm by the time God’s Domain opens,” Ryan said, his voice brimming with confidence.
“Just keep working hard and you’ll undoubtedly reach your goal,” Raymond said. He was happy with Ryan’s performance in the past few months.
“Master, do you have a Martial Skill that could be used to enslave Undead creatures. I wish to create my own Undead legion,” Ryan asked. He was excited about the prospect of having his own Undead legion.
“I have, but it is not easy to create an Undead legion as there are many risks associated with it. Undead creatures, except for Evil spirits, become many times more ferocious after getting enslaved. They also go berserk regularly, and in that state, the Enslaving seals are unable to check their movements, so the Martial Artist loses control over them. The moment you lose control over them, they will try to kill you without a doubt,” Raymond explained to Ryan.
“Because of that, most Death Martial Artist
s prefer not to have Undead legions. They instead summon Undead creatures from Death lands around Grandura by using tempting rewards. The Undead creatures then temporarily fight for the Death Martial Artist for the sake of the tempting reward. After the fight, if the Death Martial Artist refuses to give them the promised reward, they will attack the Death Martial Artist,” he went on. Ryan was jubilant after hearing Raymond out, as he possessed Death Sword.
Raymond sighed as he continued. “I also don’t have an Undead legion. I too summon Undead creatures to fight along my side. It is safe and always works.”
He sighed again. “Back then when I challenged the Dark Moon Family, I summoned hordes of Undead creatures. The Dark Moon Family was almost annihilated by them, until those monsters showed up and slaughtered all the Undead creatures. The price I had to pay to summon that many Undead creatures was huge, but they did a satisfying job.”
“Master, but I’ve just unsealed an Innate Ability of Asura Dragons that gives me absolute control over Undead creatures enslaved by me, provided they are weaker than me. These Undead creatures wouldn’t be able to escape my control no matter how hard they tried,” Ryan said with a big smile.
The book in Raymond’s hand almost fell when he heard Ryan’s words, and he looked at Ryan with a stunned expression.
“Isn't this the Innate Ability that every Death Martial Artist dreams of?” Raymond thought to himself. He was unable to calm down. If Ryan had seriously unsealed such an Innate Ability, then he would be unrivaled in the future. He could have thousands of Undead creatures at his command. Such Death Martial Artists are respected and required in every faction, but there are very few of them which makes them extraordinarily valuable assets for any faction.
“Are you telling the truth?” Raymond asked with a serious expression.
“Yes, Master,” Ryan said with an equally serious expression.
