"Now I see what you meant by these computers being different than the ones I'm used to," I said.
"And now we have to get into it. Somehow, I doubt it's going to be as simple as using his favorite food as the password."
Minutes ticked by as each of us tried to figure out how to access the computer. The tension was growing thicker in the room as we grew more and more frustrated. My brain churned, trying to come up with something, anything at that might help us. When the idea hit me, it almost took my breath away. All I needed was some time.
"Brielle, is there anything you can do to buy us some time? I need to leave the Tower for a little while."
"I can create a temporary shield of protection like I did at the fortress. I don't know how well it'll work at a distance, especially because you aren't Fae."
"That's fine. I don't need you to worry about protecting me. All I need you to do is keep all of you safe while I'm gone. I'll be back as soon as I can."
"Let me go with you," Bex said.
I shook my head.
"No. I appreciate the offer, but I need you to be here with the rest. The six of you will be safer together. Brielle, protect them as much as possible. Everyone, if the Prime and his crew show up, do whatever you have to do to keep him away from the computer. I'll be back as fast as I can."
I started toward the stairs and Aurora grabbed my arm to stop me.
"Hayden, where are you going?"
"To get help." I kissed her, then went back and kissed the other three women. "Stay safe. I'll be back as soon as I can."
Leaving them in the hallway, I ran through the tower at top speed, slowing down only when I got to the lobby and had to go out onto the sidewalk. I needed to get back to Solan City, but I wasn't going to have the time to make my way all the way through the city and use Ty's portal at Solomon's Fang. I was going to have to get creative. Fortunately, the bridge wasn't too far away. Driving would get me stuck in traffic, so I ran. When people weren't looking, I gave a blast of speed, so I arrived at the Brooklyn Bridge within minutes. I stare down at the water for a second, glancing at the side of the bridge to orient myself. When I found the right spot, I climbed up on the ledge.
And jumped.
