Seduction in a Suit: An Office Romance Collection

“I know it’s a challenge, but it is for your safety.”
“Sometimes I feel like I’m better off without it. I don’t think I need it and I know as an adult I can forfeit it.” Asthe adult child of the president, I didn’t require secret service protection. It was entirely up to me if I wanted it the protection. In the back of my mind, I knew I could make it stop and avoid Evan all together, but was that really what I wanted?
“But, I don’t want you to. Times are getting more and more frightening, and I want you as safe as possible,” she stressed. “Come with me really quick.”
I followed her through the empty halls. We left the historical part of the White House behind for the modern office complex. There were still a few people around who greeted us as we came in contact with them, until we arrived at a door.
“Every day, thousands of threats are sent out our way. This is where we keep them.” Mom opened the door and flipped on a light. The storage room was filled floor to ceiling with file boxes. “They’re filed by who the threat is against. This corner over here,” she pointed to the large pile of boxes to the right. “They are all for you.”
“All of these!” I was shocked as I approached them. I ran a finger along one of the boxes.
“I have only seen a handful of them. Some threats just wish for us to die. Other’s explain exactly how they want us to die. Then there are the gruesome ones that involve torture and even rape. It is disgusting and because of all this this, I want you safe. I know you’re annoyed with it all, but it has to be a part of your life. I’m sorry you have to feel this burden, but it isn’t forever. I just don’t want to lose you.” There were tears in her eyes and I saw her desperation for my safety.
I knew there were crazies out there throwing around threats, but I never understood they were so severe. Hell, I never knew there was an entire room filled with the insanity.
“It’s fine mom. It is and this puts everything into perspective for me.”
Mom smiled at my understanding. She pulled me into a tight hug.
“That’s my girl. Now, you better get home. Tomorrow is Monday and back to work.” She just had to remind me.
“Ugh,” I groaned childishly. Mom laughed. “Being your daughter is already a fulltime job. And I work a job on top of that. I’m exhausted.”
“Be President of the United States, and then talk to me about exhausted,” Mom pointed out as we left the storage room behind.
Mom walked me out to my coat and we said our good-byes before I strolled outside, where I found Evan waiting. I gave him a soft smile, only to provoke one from him that made me weak at the knees. thankfully, he opened the door to the SUV and I hurried into the backseat.
We rode along with the radio on very low. I could barely tell what song was coming through the speakers at a whisper, but it was something to break our silence.
I had a new understanding for why Evan was around. He had a job to do and I respected that. It was definitely difficult to forfeit my freedoms and embrace the almost prisoner like feeling, though.
Maybe what bothered me the most was the attraction that drew me to him. It was so incredibly strong and yet we both appeared to work against it. Evan had definitely distanced himself from me since Baltimore. We’d found the line and nearly crossed it.
“Home sweet home,” Evan’s voice came from the front seat and jolted me from my thoughts of him. I glanced up to realize we’d pulled in front of my townhouse.
Evan as always, got out of the SUV and came directly to my door to open it. I gave him another smile upon him opening the door. He looked me over. His blue eyes almost looking directly through me. I froze, but only for a split second.
I composed myself and took his hand to exit the car.
“Thank you, Evan,” I said softly into the freezing night air.
We approached my front door and he opened it. I removed my coat and tossed it over the coat rack. It was nice to be inside my warm home. I turned to see Evan watching me as if he was examining the aspects of my every move. I shivered.
“Good night. Back to work tomorrow,” I toyed around with the button on my sleeve. I felt like a shy school girl around him and I was definitely not shy on a normal basis. He made me meek.
“Sleep well, Kaitlyn. I won’t be here in the morning, but I will see you tomorrow.” Evan informed me before he turned and walked toward the spare bedroom which had now become a secret service command center of sorts.
Every now and then I would sneak a peek inside while passing to see all of the computer monitors everywhere. They had left the bed and seemed to use it on occasion.
I dragged myself up the stairs and into my bedroom. It was quiet without having Michael around. Normally, he and Dad would spend the entire night talking sports before we’d come back to my place. His latest subject was his reelection. His campaign was in the early stages and he was very enthusiastic about it and his new campaign manager, the woman I’d seen come out of his office, Paige Ross. She was apparently one of the best and he raved about her whenever he got the chance.
I kicked off my shoes and slipped out my dress, which I left discarded on the floor as I began in the direction of my master bathroom. Flicking on the light, I strolled to the shower and turned it on before unhooking my bra.
Relief flowed through my body at the loosening of the undergarment. I left it discarded on the counter as I pulled my panties down my legs and kicked them in the direction of my laundry basket.
By the time I stepped in the shower, the entire bathroom was engulfed in warm steam. I allowed the hot water to run over my limbs. My eyes fluttered closed as I relaxed into the hot stream.
Only one face came to my mind, Evan. I saw him there standing in his suit. Everything about him fiercely screamed to me. He was incredibly sexy, intelligent, strong, and a force to be reckoned with.
I wondered what awaited under his suit. I’d felt the strength of his arms and knew he had to have a body that was deliciously toned. The thought of running my tongue up his hardened abs caused me to twist my legs together.
Growling, I found myself frustrated at the attraction I had for him. He and I were both off-limits, yet my body craved to know him in a more intimate way.
Hands gripped my arms and my eyes shot open to find Even actually standing in front of me in my shower. He was fully dressed and as the water ran over my body it soaked his black clothing.
“What the hell!” I shrieked as I tried to push him off me, panicking, but he only held on tighter as he dragged me from the shower.
“Security alert. I have to get you to a secure location, now.” Evan’s voice was stern as he picked me up with ease.
“Can I get some clothes. I’m fucking naked!” I shouted as he jogged with me in his arms. I kicked and pushed against his chest. “Put me down!”
“You have ten seconds, then we have to get out of here,” with a nod I accepted.
The second he allowed my feet to the ground, I was off. I yanked open my dresser for panties and I yanked them up my wet legs. I managed a t-shirt before he was grabbing me again.
Everything went in a blur as he carried me out into the cold and to one of five SUVs waiting. I shivered as the car jerked into motion. Evan fought to secure me in the seatbelt.
All the cars went off in various directions and I realized immediately it was a diversionary tactic. My heart was pounding in my throat and ears as I watched my neighborhood fly by.
We sped through the streets using police sirens to cross busy intersections. Suddenly, we were in an area I didn’t recognize and the car dimmed its lights. We were driving blind through the darkness. I swallowed hard, but a hand took mine. Evan laced his fingers with mine and gripped my hand tightly in reassurance.
“We’re here,” the driver and another member of my detail informed us.
Evan took charge. He unhooked my seatbelt and took me by the hand once more. Upon the door opening, I shivered in the harsh cold. Evan took off his coat and wrapped me in it before he picked
me up as he’d done at the house. I’d never gotten the chance to put shoes on.
Men spoke in hushed voices as he approached a door. Evan keyed something into a pin pad, and the door unlocked with a clank.
He carried me down the stairs and the large door we’d entered shut behind us. We were completely alone as Evan navigated a dark hallway that I instinctively knew was underground.
A few moments after entering the other door we entered a room. Evan flicked on the lights before allowing me to my feet.
I stood, barefoot, in just a t-shirt, panties, and Evan’s suit jacket, which was still damp from him pulling me out the shower.
“This is one of the many bunkers in and around D.C. to keep you and your family safe in the event of an emergency or threat,” Evan informed me. He was incredibly formal. My protector.
“Where’s my family?” I was anxious as I studied the plain room with concrete walls.
“They are in the bunker under the White House, but as your home is further, I was instructed to bring you to this location,” Evan recited as if it was scripted.
There wasn’t much to the room at all. A table sat in the middle of the room with a few chairs, there was a refrigerator, and a microwave in the corner. I spotted a cabinet in the corner and wondered what was in there. A bench lined the wall opposite the cabinet and I knew that was where I’d likely be sleeping.
Evan stood at the door. He was like a statue on guard. I sighed and casually strode to the cabinet. My hope was that it was filled with booze. Instead, when I swung it open I found a TV and remote. At least it was something.

Evan
I watched her every move. Her body was like a piece of moving artwork as she strolled to find the TV. I was grateful for the bit of distraction there was. This particular bunker was not stocked like others I’d toured in the past. It was plain and almost an afterthought compared to those closest to the White House.
My mind couldn’t stop rewinding to the moment I’d seen her in the shower. The water ran over her every curve as she stood with her eyes closed and body relaxed into the spray. Her teeth bit down on her lip as she sighed in deep thought. I hated to disturb her and I had also wanted to watch her longer, but I couldn't.
“Would you like a drink?” I asked Kaitlyn as I saw her taking the remote control for the TV. She was stunning even in her state. I didn’t think there was a time when Kaitlyn wasn’t absolutely beautiful.
“No, thanks. I guess I can watch a bit of TV until I can get out of here.” She hugged my jacket around her as she took a seat on the bench across from the television.
“I don’t think it will be fairly soon,” I informed her.
“Why?” the question dying on her lips the moment she managed to turn the TV on. “Multiple bombs found in vehicles near White House,” she read aloud, turning frantically in my direction, her eyes were wide with fear and anger. “I need to talk to my parents.”
“It’s not possible.” It was difficult to hold my ground with her, but I had to. Her safety —and my job— depended on not allowing her to break down my walls.
“Evan, please. I need to know how they are,” her eyes pleaded, no begged me. The tears built into the ducts of her eyes were threatening to spill over. I swallowed hard to keep from breaking. “I need to tell them I’m okay. I want to call Michael and let him know I’m okay.”
I walked over to her, though not too quickly because I didn’t want to scare her. I sat down next to her on the bench and put an arm around her. My hand rubbed her shoulder.
“I can’t right now, but I can assure you that your family is perfectly safe. I got the word on their condition as we arrived. You can call Michael when we get out of here. Don’t worry. I’ve been through this and it passes. I promise.”
Kaitlyn nodded before her head rested on my arm. I held her even tighter as we both stared at the scenes playing out on the TV. A reporter was stationed blocks from the White House at a safe distance.
“Tonight, Mom showed me the room where all the files of threats are kept. I couldn’t believe there were so many. For the first time, I actually got scared about what the next four years could hold for my family, and myself,” Kaitlyn admitted as she snuggled closer.
I inhaled, she smelled like pure lavender with a touch of jasmine. Not being able to help myself, I took another whiff of her delicate scent.
“There are some crazies out there. My job is to keep you safe from them.”
“I know that now.” Kaitlyn peered up at me. I gave her a small smile before I planted a kiss on her forehead before I pulled her to my chest.
Shit, had I crossed the line? Hell, if I knew. I only knew one thing, giving Kaitlyn that sense of security was the most important part of my night’s mission.
We watched the news footage as it unfolded.
“This is sick. You know?” she finally broke the long silence. “My mom only wants to do what's right for the country. She's trying to rebuild this nation back up after that racist crackpot ruined so much. She works day and night to make sure every American can have the best life offered, and people want to do this to her and my family. You know she works constantly? Dad says if he wakes up and she’s not there, he can take a stroll to the Oval Office and find her hard at work in her pajamas. She’s so dedicated to this country and I just wish people could see it.”
Tears dropped onto my shoulder. Kaitlyn was in pain and just knowing that hurt me. She didn’t deserve pain. Not a girl like Kaitlyn. She was destined to not just be a success, but to do so in such a respectful way. She took after her mother in so many ways.
She sighed and wiped her tears away.
“Four years,” she said. “It’s worth it. Not just for my mom’s happiness, but for the country. She’s good for it and the naysayers will eventually see it as I’ve seen it my entire life. What about you?” she nudged me.
“What about me?” I inquired.
“Your family. What are they like? You know all about mine already.”
“You’re asking about my family?”
“I have four years minimum with you by my side. I think I should know a little more about you. Don’t you think?” She was right. In the past, I eventually got to know the people I worked for and Kaitlyn was no different, but the thought of getting close to her was frightening. I’d never wanted to break the rules with anyone else–only her. “Any siblings?”
“A sister,” I answered plainly.
“Older or younger?”
“Older.”
“Did you get along?”
“Yeah, she and I were… are very close. She lives with me in fact.”
“Really? Wow.”
“Yep, she and her four kids.”
“Four?” Kaitlyn looked astonished. “Busy house.”
“You have no idea. Two preteens, a seven-year-old, and a four-year-old. It’s hectic, but I wouldn’t have anything else.” I grinned when I thought about the family I had at home. There were days where it was too much, but others I couldn’t wait to get back to all of them.
“They make you happy, I know it. I’ve never seen you smile this much.” Kaitlyn grinned up at me. I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and allowed my fingers to hover over her cheek. She looked away. Damn, every moment with her got harder.
“You should get some sleep,” I insisted. “I know it isn’t the best accommodations, but you should try.” I picked up the remote and clicked the television off. She didn’t need to see more, it would only make her more anxious than she already was.
Kaitlyn nodded and yawned. She laid over the cold metal bench, while I positioned my coat to keep her as warm as I could. Her head ended up on my lap, but I didn’t mind as I stroked her soft hair.
“Evan,” she whispered.
“Yeah,” I answered.
“Thanks.”
I didn’t say anything in response, but continued to stroke her curls as she drifted to sleep. She looked angelic as she slept, a beauty wrapped in my
jacket. I smiled, because I knew in the end, I was fucked.
We didn’t get the all clear until after two in the morning. I picked a sleeping Kaitlyn up in my arms and got her out of the bunker and into the back of the awaiting SUV. Amazingly she slept the entire way back to her place. I didn’t want to wake her up, but I would have to.
My hand rubbed over her delicate shoulder. She let out a moan as she stirred from her slumber. I watched her eyes flutter open, showing me the beautiful brown.
“It’s over, and you’re home,” I told her as she began to look at her surroundings.
“And my family?” she inquired immediately.
“They’re all fine. It’s almost three in the morning. Let’s get you to bed,” I scooped her into my arms and held her close to keep her warm in the freezing temperatures.
I sprinted to the door and got us inside. My buddy Colin was waiting to relieve me of my duties. The day had been a long ass one, and my bed was calling my name all the way from Virginia.
I could have put Kaitlyn on her feet the moment we entered, but I took the initiative to carry her upstairs and into her bedroom where I finally let her down. She peered up at me before she handed me my jacket.
“I guess I don’t need this anymore,” she said sweetly.
She peered through her long eyelashes and I had to hold myself firm. Her eyes, along with her curves, were begging me to touch her. With one wrong move, I would be out of a job, and I couldn’t risk it, but Kaitlyn was making it hard.
“Er...thanks. I should get going. Colin is on shift now. I’m off for a couple days,” I told her, and her face went long.
“Oh,” she said softly. “Well, thanks.”
“No problem. Goodnight, Kaitlyn.”
She gave a small smile as she pulled the covers back on her bed, and I began to her bedroom door. I just made it over the threshold into the hallway when I heard her voice.
“Evan,” she called out.
“Yeah.” I turned to see her sitting in her bed.
“I feel stupid, but can you stay? I’m filled with anxiety from the night and I’d like some company while I fall asleep. Please.” It was impossible to say no to her simple request.
