  “V-v-very good, Lord.”

  The shadow man’s head whipped around and he stood motionless, staring at something beyond the confines of the room. “That bitch is here…” he whispered, stepping back deeper into the shadows. “And her pet Texan.”

  “Should I send them away, Lord?” Peterson stood, wiping the back of his hand across his dry mouth. He didn’t know why the Egyptian woman scared his master, but it was enough to scare him as well.

  “Ha!” The shadow man scoffed. “You don’t have that sort of power. She comes closer! I must go.”

  “Yes, Lord.”

  “And Peterson,” the shadow man’s attention focussed back to the senator. “You know you can call me by my name.”

  “Y-yes, Archangel Constantine.”
