Tightening her legs around his waist, Jess felt his cock pushing against her slick folds. Her hands began to wander underneath his shirt. Just as she suspected Aedan was rocking a serious six-pack. She slid her hands around his back and his muscles tensed as he thrust against her. Jess was so wet that he slid back and forth between her lips with ease. She managed to moan out, “condom.”

  “Shite, you’re right.”

“I have some in my bedroom nightstand.”

“No worries,” Aedan reached into his back pocket and pulled out his wallet.

“Well look at you, all prepared.” Jess tried not to think of what this might mean and just stuck to being thankful she wouldn’t have to wait much longer.

“It’s been in there for ages; not something I planned or something.”

Sheathing his cock in latex, Aedan allowed his jeans to fall around his ankles and repositioned himself between Jess’s legs. She crisscrossed her legs behind him and pulled him closer. He lined up his cock with her pussy and slowly began to breach her. Jess moaned as he pushed farther and farther into her, gasping as she felt herself stretch to accommodate him. After he was finally seated, he rested his forehead against hers. Jess had to have more, was craving more and began to pump her hips to feel more of his magnificence. Taking his cue from her, Aedan began to push into her harder and faster.

“Yes, please, yes, fuck me,” Jess moaned out.

“Ah, so good, so fucking good,” Aedan gasped as he put his hands on her hips and began to plunge into faster and harder.

“Oh Aedan, yes, so close, so close.”

Jess felt the crest of the wave. She so close the crashing over the edge, she just needed one more thing. “So, close, I need, I need,” she moaned. Her words were swallowed up by the closeness of her climax. As if he knew exactly what she needed, he placed his hand between them and began to rub her clit.

It only took seconds; a blinding supernova exploded behind her eyes, completely blanking her vision. Aedan jerked and spasmed as he filled the condom with his release. They were both panting hard as they came down from their respective orgasmic highs.

“Wow,” she said with a smile, staring into Aedan’s eyes as their foreheads touched.

“Wow, is absolutely right.” As Aedan pulled out of Jess, she immediately felt bereft at the loss, and let out a little disappointed mewl. “Don’t worry, it won’t be the last time we do that,” he said, pressing his lips hard against hers. Aedan went to dispose of the condom and helped Jess down from the counter.

Grabbing their beers off the counter, they walked back into the living room and plopped down on the couch. Aedan pulled her back against his chest and wrapped his arm around her. She felt him playing with her curls, twirling them around his fingers.

“That was a wonderful way to cap off this evening.” he said with a kiss to the top of her head.

“I’m glad you had fun,” she said peeking up at him.

“More than fun; definitely more than fun.”

Aedan stared into Jess’s eyes after one of the most explosive sexual experiences he had ever had in his life. He didn’t like to brag, but there had been quite a few wild nights back in his early football days. It had quickly lost its luster and that wasn’t his type of thing anymore. He didn’t pick up women at bars, but with Jess it was different. From the beginning, he could see she wasn’t like other women. The way she stood up for the waitress, the way she just sat quietly people watching, and how she seemed so open to him. They had no trouble finding things to talk about, but were also comfortable just basking in each other’s presence, not saying a word.

Sitting in her living room, drinking a beer, listening to some great tunes and enjoying her company—that was something he had never been able to find in a relationship. Coming to the States had been a great idea. Getting away from all the hounding back in the UK and coming to a place where most people didn’t get a shite about football made it a lot easier to just have a relaxing time.

There were a couple of people that seemed to recognize him since he had landed, but they were few and far between. Jess certainly didn’t seem to know who he was and it was a breath of fresh air. He'd been worried when he’d introduced himself that she might recognize the name, but the blank stare and friendly handshake put his mind at ease.

Ever since he’d joined the football development league when he was fourteen, he’d been the center of attention. Once he joined the Premier League things took off in a stratospheric manner. He hadn’t realized how much he needed to get away from it all until this moment. He was just Aedan and she was just Jess.

Jess peeked up at him then, eyes shining, “What’s got you so quiet all of the sudden?”

“Nothing much, just wondering how long it will be before you try to kick me out of your place.”

“Nah, you’re not getting away that easily; you’re stuck with me here tonight. Unless you need to go, I mean, I understand if—” Jess moved to sit up, but Aedan held fast and pulled her back down onto him.

He placed a finger to her lips. “There is no place I would rather be than right here with you. And I’d love to stay the night.”

After two more albums, they finished their beers and Jess led Aedan into the bedroom. It was creeping up on midnight, Aedan’s jet lag was hitting him hard. He let out a big yawn.

“Sorry,” he said, pulling off his shirt.

“I’m not complaining. I'm usually in bed by ten, so this is way past my bedtime.” Jess pulled off her dress and bra and walked over to the dresser. Aedan swallowed when he finally saw her naked after their kitchen romp. Her body was beyond amazing—curves in all the right places. He couldn’t wait for round two. Holding back another yawn, he started unbuckling his jeans.

“I don't imagine you'd like one of my oversized t-shirts to sleep in,” she offered.

Aedan let out a short laugh. “I think I'll stick to my boxers if it's all the same to you.”

“Just trying to be a good host,” she said with a teasing smile, pulling the t-shirt over her head. It fell to her mid-thigh and she was a vision—like every guy’s pin-up fantasy. While sleeping naked next to a beautiful woman was always a plus, seeing her a bit covered up would making unwrapping her that much better.

Jess climbed into bed, pulled back the duvet, and scooted over to make room for him. What an invitation. She patted the bed and Aedan slid into cool sheets that smelled like lilac. This bed was heaven. Turning over to face Jess, Aedan couldn't help but reach out and brush the hair back behind her ear.

  “Hey,” he smiled.

“Hey yourself. You look like you're going to pass out any second. Don't worry, I won't be offended. I'm sure jetlag can be a real bitch.”

  “You have no idea.”

She kissed him on the forehead. “Sleep.” The was the last thing Aedan remembered before exhaustion pulled him under.

  5

The morning sun was streaming in through her window when Jess opened her eyes. Sleeping past 6 am was a miracle in and of itself. Jess stretched, her muscles deliciously sore, and remembered why she was a bit more tired than usual. Their initial romp was followed by another in the middle of the night. Apparently liquid courage lent itself to waking quite randy in the middle of the night.

Jess remembered waking up sometime after 2 am and taking Aedan into her hand, savoring his velvety smooth rod in her hand as it strengthened and lengthened during her ministrations. It was only a matter of time before he woke up, “Now that is quite a way to be woken up in the middle of the night,” he said drowsily with a hungry gleam in his eye.

“You were sleeping so peacefully, I thought I would have to make it worth your while to interrupt you,” Jess said with a sleepy smirk.

“I’d say it is more than worth it. Get up here,” he pulled her across his body and dove into her mouth, taking her breath away when he pulled her closer and ground himself against her core. He made short work of her nightshirt and pulled himself out of h
is boxers before thrusting up into her with reckless abandon. She rode him hard, and he squeezed her breasts in rhythm to his thrusts. Jess moaned his name and they both came together for a quick and hot session before drifting back to sleep with satisfied grins on their faces.

It was an evening she was sure not to forget for a long time. Jess tried not to overthink this. Aedan was just in town for a little bit; he would probably try to get out of there as soon as possible after his accent got him laid last night, but Jess wasn’t going to make it into a big thing. Seize the day and all that; just have some fun and stop analyzing.

Jess felt the bed beside her, smiling as she thought back to the night filled with great company and amazing sex. It was empty. She sat up holding the sheet to her chest and glanced around the room. Aedan’s pants were gone. Slumping back in the bed, Jess felt a little dejected, but tried not to let it get her down.

Of course, one night stands aren’t exactly known for sticking around once the sun came up. Just then, she heard the banging of pots and pans and a filthy string of curses. Pleasantly surprised, she smiled and grabbed her nightshirt that had been discarded earlier.

Pulling them on, she shouted out, “having some trouble out there Mr. McConnell?”

“Ah shite, I was trying to surprise you.”

“I’m just glad you didn’t burn the place down,” she said as she walked into the room.

“I happen to be an excellent cook, but your fridge selection is quite atrocious,” he said from behind the kitchen island. He had prepared quite a spread.

“Well I’m not much of a cook myself, so it’s mainly the essentials: ketchup, ramen, oranges,” she said eyeing the items on the island. “And I definitely did not have ninety percent of any of this in my kitchen.”

“I’m quite the early riser normally, so the flight has just made it worse. I went out and picked up a few things so that I could make you a nice breakfast. I'm glad there was twenty-four-hour grocery nearby.”

“Did you actually make croissants or are those from the tube?” Jess spied some uncooked crescent-shaped rolls of goodness sitting on the stove on a cookie sheet.

“I can’t have you eating those crap grocery store ones. I checked them out and they were not up to par.”

“You seriously made these?” She picked up strawberry from a bowl and moved around the island to get a closer look at the pastry.

“Once you slap together the butter square it’s really not that hard. Carbs are my friend this time of year, so I indulge a bit here and there.”

“You weren’t kidding about knowing how to cook,” Jess said, propping a hip up against the island as she pulled apart a steaming croissant.

“Definitely not kidding and your kitchen is pretty great to work in. No clutter at all ... almost like it’s never really been used,” he gave her a cheeky smirk then turned back to tend to the items he was preparing.

Jess gave him a slight hip check at the dig about her cooking and plopped herself down on one of the stools at the island. She knew when to stay out of the way of someone who was going to feed her. Especially since the closest she usually came to a home-cooked meal was when she ordered Thai.

“The only thing that’s a pain in the arse—"

“Other than me?” Jess said as she ate another strawberry, moaning slightly at just how good they tasted. Aedan faltered a bit at her moan, almost dropping the baking sheet he was put in the oven.

Turning back to her, he replied, “Yes, other than you. Is that this damned light over this island is way too low. I’ve cracked me head about five times already. Whoever hung this is a complete moron.”

“That’s what you get for being tall.” Sticking out her tongue, she grabbed another strawberry and discovered there were raspberries as well. Sweet!

“It’s not meant to be this low! I’ll raise it a bit later.” He grabbed the cookie sheet with the croissants on it off the counter and put them in the oven

  .

“Planning on sticking around for a bit, huh?” she asked, devouring the fresh fruit in front of her. Aedan paused and looked at her, flushing.

“Well, only if you’re OK with it. It’s the weekend, so I figured we could do something today, but I’m realizing now that that was a bit presumptuous of me. Sorry, I ... I can get out of our hair.” He moved to turn off the burner on the stove.

“Aedan, stop. Don’t you dare stop cooking after making me anticipate this delicious breakfast you’re making me.”

She stood up and walked over to him and wrapped her arms around his waist. “I’m really glad that you’re here and I would love to spend the day with you.” A smile broke out on his face that lit up the whole room and brought back those butterflies in Jess’s stomach. He pulled out a large bowl and started cracking eggs into it.

“Grand, I’ll just put on some bacon. What do you like in your omelet?”

“I’m partial to cheese and veggies, so feel free to surprise me.”

“One omelet surprise coming up, then.”

After a leisurely morning breakfast, a bit of making out and some serious groping Jess decided that they should actually get out of the apartment. “I’m being completely serious right now when I say those were the best croissants I have ever had in my life.”

“Thank you,” he said, bowing his head.

“I’m serious. All of it was amazing, are you sure you’re not a chef?”

“No, not a chef, I just enjoy cooking and have a lot of down time.”

"In that case, you can have all the down time you want while you’re here, I’ll eat anything you cook. That omelet was so light and fluffy. The last time I tried to make an omelet it just turned into charred scrambled eggs.”

“I’ll be sure to never let you make me breakfast, then,” he quipped.

“That would be quite wise on your part. I think we should get out and I can show you around. Anything in particular that you want to see?”

“The Smithsonian. That's the big D.C. thing, right? Whenever I’ve come to visit my family before, we never do too much touristy stuff and the last time I made it here for a non-work visit was maybe ten years ago.”

“Definitely, then. The thing is, it's actually about twelve different museums. And I’m sure some things have changed since back then. Let’s go for Air & Space and American History Museum. Those are the staples. Did you want to stop off where you're staying and change?”

“Yeah and I should probably check in with my Aunt. Don't want her thinking I've been kidnapped by a crazy American. I'm staying near Metro Center, I think. It sounded central.”

“Perfect, it's right in the middle of where we need to be. Let's head out.” They got dressed, Aedan in his walk of shame clothes. Jess grabbed her keys and purse and they were on their way.

They hopped on the metro to get to Aedan’s hotel, which turned out to be a pretty swanky one. The pair headed up in the elevator to Aedan’s room. His room was bigger than her apartment. Jess stared at the place, a bit gob smacked. “You went all out on the hotel, huh?” Aedan paused and blushed a little.

“When I travel for work I collect all of those points and stuff, so it really wasn’t that bad. And they screwed up my reservation, so I got this plush upgrade. Plus, if I didn't get my own hotel, I'd be sharing a twin bed with my cousin and it's not exactly been my cup of tea once I reached eleven years old.”

“Nice that the hotel tried to make it up to you.”

“Make yourself at home. This is partially a work trip, so you can even steal some minibar snacks.”

“I’m definitely not going to be the one to get you fired over some thirteen-dollar peanuts. I’m good.”

Aedan stood in the doorway to the bedroom with a towel wrapped around his waist and Jess’s mouth got noticeably drier. “No worries, I’ll be quick and we can be on our way.”

While Aedan grabbed a quick shower, and changed his clothes, Jess sent a message to Sam, who was of course still in the office.

  J: What’s
up?

S: Completely slammed and hating life right now. I slept in my office and my mouth tastes like a bird took a crap in it. I hope you had fun and sorry Meg and I both bailed on you.

J: It’s OK, I had fun. See you this week?

S: If you see me this century I’ll be lucky, but I think I can swing Tuesday. Work for you?

J: Yeah, works for me. I’m going to check on Meg later on this afternoon.

S: Lovely, catch you later. Trying to pay attention to all of these briefs and my eyes keep crossing.

Then a text to Meg, hoping she was no longer incapacitated.

  J: How you doing?

  M: I’m dead.

J: I didn’t realize my cell service reached into the 10th circle of hell.

A pleasant emoji combination was returned.

M: You’ll pay for that. I’ll be sure to infect all of your bedding with my plague.

J: Remind me not to invite you over to my place for at least the next 48 hours. But I was thinking of stopping by later this afternoon. You up for it?

M: Sure, if I don’t answer the door I’m probably lying on the floor dried up like an old prune and you can have my purse collection.

J: Ha, I’ll be sure to remember that.

M: Going to crash, see you later!

Aedan strolled out of the bedroom, his hair still wet and his curls in complete disarray. He looked as delicious as ever. Jess had to clench her hands to fight the urge to go run her fingers through it.

“Ready?” He held out his hand to help her up off the couch.

Jess pocketed her phone and grabbed his hand. “Let’s do this!”

They spent the day exploring the city. They started at the jam-packed Air & Space and American History Museums, then stopped off for a carousel ride on the Mall. All of the parents seemed to hold their kids just a little bit closer at the sight of two grown adults on the horses. They had a laugh at all the staring. They talked about their families; Jess’s sisters were living in Singapore and Sydney and Aedan had a younger brother that was still in secondary school. They talked about Jess’s incredibly complicated-sounding work as an actuary. Aedan initially thought it might have had something to do with birds.
