“What we need is a fourth,” Jake told them. “Brian is becoming very popular at school. We should invite him along.”
“Having a doctor in the group is always smart,” Ronald agreed.
“He comes from a family like mine, old money. Most of us are assholes,” Oliver joked.
Ronald grinned at his best friend. “One more won’t matter.”
“Ha ha.” Oliver shook his head at him.
“I’ll give him a call. Does tennis sound good?” Jake asked them.
“Sure, I’ve got a mean backhand. I play with my wife.” Ronald made a swinging motion.
“He forgot to mention that his wife usually wins,” Oliver told Jake.
Jake was looking forward to their addition. He’d become the third wheel on the wagon. It would be nice to belong to a group of men who understood and accepted him as being perfectly normal.
Oliver came home later than what he’d wanted. He went to Emily’s room to see if she was there. Nanny McKinney had fallen asleep on the sofa in their room.
Oliver grinned when he saw her. “Excuse me, Nanny McKinney.”
She woke with a start. “Emily?” She looked around.
“I don’t know where she is. I was wondering if you could tell me.” Oliver was trying hard to suppress his grin. He knew that Nanny was dying a thousand deaths because her employer had caught her sleeping on the job.
“She was doing her homework.” Nanny stood up and folded the blanket that was covering her. Emily must have covered her up while she slept.
“Let’s look around for her,” Oliver suggested. He wasn’t worried. The staff was still here.
“Of course, sir. She was probably hungry. I’ll bet she’s getting herself something to eat.”
Oliver nodded, agreeing with that logic. “My meeting went pretty late. She must be starving.”
They found her in the kitchen, and Oliver said good night to Nanny.
“I’m sorry that I’m late, baby.” Oliver leaned down to kiss Emily, but she moved away from him. “What’s wrong?”
“I think I might have eaten too fast.”
Oliver took hold of Emily’s face and moved her head so she was looking at him. She looked green. “Are you alright?”
Emily shook her head with shame. “My tummy hurts.”
Oliver pushed on Emily’s tummy slightly, and she gasped in pain. “I’ll get your shoes.” His first thought was that she was having complications from losing the baby. His second thought was her appendix.
“What for?” she asked, watching her husband leave the room. She got up and followed him into the hallway. He was getting her shoes out of the cloakroom.
“Come here, baby. I’ll put your shoes on for you.”
“Where do you want to go?” Emily didn’t want to go out. She wanted to go to bed. Oliver would leave her alone so she could sleep. He hadn’t made love to her since they lost their baby.
“We’re going to the doctor’s.”
“Amelia’s daddy?”
“Yes, to him.”
“Daddy, I need to go to bed. I’ll be fine tomorrow morning.”
“No. I’m going to get this checked out.” He helped Emily to his car.
Emily needed to confess that she wasn’t feeling well because she’d eaten too much. She’d taken the moment alone to enjoy not only her meal but also daddy’s. After that, the hole inside of her demanded more food. If she could have eaten a little more, she could have felt full for once. “I don’t want to go to the doctor’s, Daddy.”
“Tough.” Oliver pushed the button for the cell. “Call Brian,” he said clearly. The car placed the call.
“Hello, Oliver.”
“Brian, my little girl has a terrible tummy-ache. Can we come see you?”
“Of course, I’m at my office. I’m finishing up with a patient. You can come in immediately.”
“Thank you. I honestly appreciate this.”
“You’re welcome. I’ll see you soon.”
Oliver helped Emily walk into the doctor’s office. She was very reluctant to enter his office. She started to cry. This was going to make her daddy very upset with her.
Oliver thought that she was getting worse by the second. He was relieved to see his friend.
“Wait here. I’ll hurry, sweetheart.” Brian turned away from his wife, Amelia, and ushered his friend and his wife into one of his offices.
“Em has a tummy-ache. I found her like this when I came home from work.”
Brian smiled at Emily. “You need to lie down so I can look at your tummy.”
“You know that she recently lost a baby. This could be some sort of complication,” Oliver reminded him.
Brian nodded. Jake had told him about what had happened. Brian lifted up Emily’s dress, baring her tummy. He checked her over and pushed on her tummy.
Emily hated that she was so exposed to this stranger, even if he was a doctor. With her dress and slip up she was laying in front of him in only her panties.
She peeked at her daddy. He looked like he was going to be sick with worry.
“Emily, tell me what you had to eat today.”
“This morning I had cereal.”
“What kind?” Brian asked, kindly.
“Frosted covered oats with marshmallows,” Emily admitted. It was clear to her that the doctor knew exactly what was wrong with her.
“Is it an allergy?” Oliver asked, worried.
“I don’t think so.” Brian left his eyes on Emily. “What did you have for lunch?”
“We had cordon bleu with french fries.”
“And for supper?”
“Daddy was late so I ate the food the cook prepared for us. I was still hungry when I finished, and Daddy wasn’t home, so I ate his portion too. I was still hungry after that so I ate some cookies and the leftover cake that was in the refrigerator.”
“Emily.” Oliver said, not knowing what else he should say.
“I’m sorry, Daddy. I was just so hungry.”
Oliver looked at Brian.
“I’ll give you a prescription.” Brian left the room so they’d have a moment alone.
Oliver took hold of Emily’s slip and covered her up again. His lips were pressed together, and he was mad. She should have told him the truth at home. He adjusted her dress so she was covered.
Emily got up and walked to the door. She’d felt terrible before they came here, and now she felt even worse.
Brian filled out the prescription and signed it. He gave it to Oliver. “Oliver, give this to her, and an enema.”
“That isn’t all she’s going to get. Come on, Emily.” He took hold of Emily and yanked her out of the door.
Oliver stopped off at a pharmacy to pick up Emily’s prescription. He was mad at her. He’d never been this mad at Emily before. In fact, he’d never been mad at her before at all. The problem was Nanny McKinney. If she hadn’t fallen asleep, then Em wouldn’t have eaten too much.
“I can’t believe that Nanny McKinney let that happen. I should fire her and get someone competent to take care of you.” Oliver gripped the steering wheel tighter. He had so much aggression in his body, and he needed to hit something.
“It wasn’t her fault. I’m an adult. I should have known better,” Emily told him. She was the one to blame.
“If you’re an adult, then you wouldn’t need a nanny,” he snapped at her.
“I want my baby back,” she sniffled.
Oliver looked away from her. They never talked about the baby. “If I could, I would, Em. I swear I would.”
“Isn’t there some way?”
“Adoption, Em. Only adoption would work. I’m not going to get you pregnant again. I promised myself that I wouldn’t.” Oliver parked in front of their house.
“I never asked you to make that promise.” Emily got out of the car and slammed the door.
Oliver sighed. He didn’t want to fight with Emily. He needed to do something. They couldn’t go on this way. Emily’s overeat
ing was a call for help.
He got out of the car and unlocked the door of their house to let Emily in.
“Thank you,” she said as snobby as she could, as she passed him.
“You’re welcome,” he answered her nicely.
Emily looked over her shoulder at him. She was fighting with herself not to smile at him. They couldn’t stay mad at each other.
Oliver took hold of her hand and walked her up to their bedroom. “I got everything the doctor said you needed, baby.”
“Thank you, Daddy. I didn’t mean to embarrass you like that. I just didn’t know how to stop it once it was in motion.”
“I understand. It was partly my fault I overreacted and jumped to conclusions.”
Oliver opened a bottle of medicine and sniffed it. He was glad that he didn’t have to take it. “Yummy,” he said, pretending that it wasn’t awful as he poured the medicine into a little cup.
He held the cup out to Emily and hoped that she wasn’t as sensitive as he was.
Emily took it and drank it down quickly. She sputtered and fought to keep it inside as she gagged from the taste. “Water,” she said between coughs.
Oliver poured her a glass as quickly as he could.
Emily drank it, and then she looked at him. “That was awful.”
“I hope you feel better soon so you don’t have to take that again.”
“Thank you, Daddy.”
“Okay, Em. This goes up your butt. It will get rid of everything that’s pushing on your tummy. When your tummy has more room, you’ll feel better.”
Emily nodded at him.
“Let’s change into our pajamas, and then I’ll give it to you.”
“I’m sorry, Daddy.”
“I know. The question is why did you do it, Em?”
“I felt so empty. I was trying to fill the hole inside of me.” Emily couldn’t hold her tears back.
Oliver couldn’t stand to see her cry, and this was more than regular tears. She was crying because her heart was broken. “What can I do to make it better?”
“I think I’m the problem. You don’t like me any more,” Emily sobbed.
“No, Emily, you’re wrong. I like you too much. I’m scared to death that something could happen to you.”
“But why won’t you sleep with me?”
“If you get pregnant again, and something happens to you, it would kill me.”
Emily lifted her hands to her face and cried. Oliver was saying that he’d never touch her again.
“Baby, don’t cry. Tell me what I’m doing wrong.” Oliver tried to pull her hands away from her face.
“I’m lonely, and now you’re never going to touch me again. It would be best if I went back to the orphanage and worked as a nurse.”
“You’re not going anywhere. I think we’re having two different conversations here.”
“You need a wife who can give you an heir. If you never touch me, then I can’t do that.”
“Emily, I’m scared. I need more time.”
“Please, don’t leave me feeling like this, Daddy. I need your help.”
Oliver nodded. “Why do you want a baby so badly?”
Emily cradled her arms without knowing that she was doing it. “I believe that our child’s soul went back up to heaven. And now he’s waiting to come back to us.”
Oliver was a little dumbstruck. He didn’t know what he should answer. The way she said it made it easy for him to picture their child in heaven calling to them and wanting to be returned to them.
“I’ll think about it, Emily. I’ll honestly think about it,” he promised.
Emily nodded at him. She couldn’t ask for more.
Chapter 17
Oliver stopped off after work to get Emily flowers. He’d kept her home from school yesterday. He stayed at home too. Nanny had been given the day off, and the staff had been told to stay away from their bedroom.
Oliver and Emily made love all day, breaking only to satisfy their other appetite, the one for food.
Oliver had a good feeling that Emily would soon be pregnant. She was such a good wife, and they’d survived their first fight by listening to each other.
Oliver felt that it had been great coming inside of Emily. Before, he’d had to turn away from her, not wanting to get anything on her. But now, he came inside of her and kissed her. The slower ending to their lovemaking was a lot more romantic. It was also easier for him to get hard for her again. He loved being in her warm arms.
“Oliver, hello.” A long and thin woman stepped in front of him. She was wearing tight corduroy jeans and a tight-fitting short fur coat. She had straight blond hair. “Are you getting flowers for your wife?”
Oliver knew exactly who she was. They’d been a couple for over half a year. He went through a list of names that was in the back of his head. “Dakota, how are you?” He was proud of himself when he remembered her name.
“I’m good. I read that you’re married now.”
Oliver thought about Emily, and he had to grin. “Yes, I am.”
“Happily?” she asked.
“Yes, of course.” Oliver thought that was an odd question.
“I just thought that because you’re getting her flowers that you might be in the doghouse.” She glanced away, and then back at Oliver, giving him a coy look and sending him signals.
“No,” he laughed. “We don’t have a relationship like that. We get along amazingly well. Em is brilliant. I could never be mad at her. She likes flowers, so I get her some often. She’s an avid gardener. You should see our garden. It looked good before Emily added her touch, but now that she’s in charge of it, it looks fabulous.” Oliver could see in her face that she didn’t care. “Forgive me, I was rambling on. What’s going on in your life?”
“The usual. I’m happy for you, Oliver. You deserved to find true love.” Dakota could see that she didn’t have a chance with him. She’d hoped to become his well-kept mistress. Emily didn’t look like she’d been his type, but now it was clear that Dakota hadn’t been his type.
“Thank you. I hope you do too.”
Dakota smiled at him, thinking that she’d let a great man slip through her fingers.
Oliver went over to the cash register to pay.
“Hello, Mr. Keaton. I see you found something again. On Monday were getting another shipment of the orchids that Emily likes so much. Should I prepare a bouquet for her?” Mr. Keaton was a regular who came by at least twice a week.
“That would be fantastic.” He gladly handed over his credit card.
Oliver took the wrapped up flowers and left. He’d forgotten about Dakota already. He was already picturing Emily’s response to the flowers. She got excited each time. She didn’t take him for granted.
Oliver kissed Emily’s naked belly. Her legs were open, and he could see that she was wet and glistening for him. He laid his hands on her upper thighs feeling her softness and warmth. Then he drove into her, making her gasp.
“I love you, Em,” he said, finding the perfect position for thrusting.
Emily reached between her legs and squeezed his tight butt in her hands. She loved feeling them as his body worked inside of her. Making love with him was so special. Having to go without his penis the last couple of months had been very difficult for her. She knew that Oliver had suffered too. They needed this.
Emily lifted up her hips, trying to give Oliver easier excess and wanting to share her body with him as much as possible. “I love you too, Oliver. I’m so thankful that you picked me.”
“It was you or no one,” he said in her ear. He stopped thrusting and looked in her eyes. “I can’t even bear to think about what could have happened if you hadn’t been there. Without you, I’m no one.”
“Don’t say that, Daddy. I think you’re very important.”
Oliver smiled at her. “Your opinion is the only one that matters to me.” Oliver was lying on top of his wife. His penis was buried deeply inside of her, and he didn’t truly se
e her. He saw her full breasts that he liked to grab onto, and he saw her open wide hips that made him feel at home, but he didn’t see the tiny rolls that circled her body. He didn’t see her padded thighs. Her arms weren’t flabby when he looked at them. Instead, he saw arms that were there to wrap around him and cling to him. He didn’t see a chubby face, but ruby glowing cheeks and eyes that lighted up when he looked at her.
He saw his Emily when he looked at her, and she was the most beautiful sight in the world to him. She was the only woman he’d ever love.
Oliver lifted his hips up, pulling his penis back a little.
Emily pressed her hands into his hind cheeks, trying to push him back into her.
A moment before his penis was about to exit her, he drove back into her.
“Oh, Oliver.”
“That’s right, baby. Say my name.”
Emily snorted at him. Sometimes, he got very silly and made her laugh. But that was the difference between those kinds of women and a wife. A husband could joke around and be himself with his wife, and she laughed at him when he got silly. The women he dated before weren’t honest with him.
Secretly, Emily was glad that they hadn’t been good to him. This way she got him.
“I love you, Oliver.”
“And you love what I can do to you.” Oliver lifted up his upper body onto his hands. He looked down between them and saw that his penis was inside of her. “Hold on tight, baby. This will be some ride.”
Emily grabbed onto his wrists and opened her legs as wide as she could, knowing what was about to come.
Oliver’s body moved swiftly in and almost out of her, then slamming into her.
Emily’s head was thrown back as she panted and begged him not to stop. “Oh Daddy!”
Oliver stopped and gave her a kiss on her gasping jaw before he went back to thrusting. When he looked down where their bodies were joined, he saw that his penis was moving too fast for his eye to get a clear picture of it. He knew that his Emily liked this.
Emily’s fingernails sunk into his wrists.
Oliver watched her coming, knowing that he’d be the only man to ever see her this way. He took a break as she squirted her pleasure around him. When she did that, it made him feel like a fabulous lover.
