Robby nodded. If Mommy said that’s the way it would be, then it would be that way.

Emily backed out of the door with her children behind her. She took off running so the doctor couldn’t stop her. She lifted Francesca into her arms as she ran, knowing that Robby would stay by her side.

Emily went into the town square and looked for her husband.

Oliver was meeting with a few men who wanted to build up the industry again. They were investors. He spotted his wife and son running and searching for him. He also spotted a doctor walking swiftly towards them.

“Em! I’m over here.” He waved his hands so she’d see him.

Emily ran to him. “Oliver, this child is supposed to go to an orphanage. I want to keep her.”

Oliver took the child out of Emily’s arms and looked at her.

“I saw her, and I had to have her,” Emily confessed.

“I know that feeling,” Oliver muttered.

In the meantime, the doctor had reached them. Oliver’s colleagues were smirking at them, but everyone knew that Oliver loved his wife more than his money.

“I want to adopt her. She needs us,” Emily told him.

Francesca rubbed her head into Oliver’s chest. She wanted to have a family. She wanted a mommy who would tuck her into bed at night and a father who would take care of her and see to it that she was safe.

“Mr. Keaton, your wife thinks that she can adopt this child who she just met.”

Oliver stopped him from continuing. “I understand that this child doesn’t have a family. We’ve always wanted to adopt another child. Why not this one? My wife has strong feelings for this child. My lawyer will see to it that the necessary paperwork is completed.”

“This is very unconventional,” the doctor complained.

“We were never a conventional family, but we’re a loving family. This child will be taken care of and loved for the rest of her life. You don’t have to worry doctor. We always wanted a large family. We’ll take care of her.”

“Thank you, Daddy,” Emily laid her hand over her new daughter’s head and over her son’s head. Her children.

“Yes, thank you, Daddy,” Robby repeated his mother’s words.

  “Thank you, Daddy,” Francesca repeated.

Everyone laughed, thinking how cute Francesca was.

“I guess it’s official. We just adopted our first child. Promise me, you won’t grab onto the next one and run with him or her.”

“I can only promise that I won’t if it isn’t necessary.”

Oliver threw his head back and laughed. “That was a very honest answer.” He squatted down to Robby. “What do you have to say about your little sister?”

“She’s perfect, like a little angel.”

“Exactly like her mother.” Oliver agreed with his son.
