2 Pocket Full of Posies

Charlie gave me a strange look when I arrived at Holly House. He was a perceptive guy and was probably wondering how I had left without him noticing. I gave him a small nod and headed for the elevators before he had a chance to question me.

I tiptoed back into the condo and hung my robe in the hall closet. I wasn’t sure if the others had made it back from celebrating yet, but I didn’t want to wake anyone. The hounds were curled up on the living room floor. They stirred and Coreen lifted her head to sniff the air before nuzzling in closer to Saul. I slipped back into my room. The sight of Bub lying naked on my bed brought a grin to my lips. Truthfully, I had been a little worried that he might not be waiting for me when I got back.

I stepped into the bathroom and quietly stripped out of my jeans and tee shirt before patting my face down with cold water at the sink. My nerves were still a little twitchy, but they were settling. I looked up at the mirror with a sigh, truly grasping my exhaustion and relief.

“One day at a time,” I told my reflection. “We’ll get through all this and laugh someday.” I raised an eyebrow, knowing that the laughter was more likely to be induced by madness at the rate I was going.

“Lana?” Bub stirred in the bedroom.

I clicked off the bathroom light and crawled back in bed with him. He curled an arm around my middle and pulled me in tight against his chest, nuzzling his chin against my neck.

I grinned and closed my eyes. Cuddling with a demon had to be somewhere near the top of my list of most crazy things that I was least likely to ever do. But tonight, it felt like the perfect kind of crazy. Who knew what the morning would bring? I didn’t anymore. And for once, I didn’t care. It was time to stop worrying so much and start enjoying some of the crazy life was throwing my way.

  Acknowledgements

Holy cow. This book took forever to finish. I’m sure it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I’ve moved several times, gotten married, had a baby, and juggled a few graphic design jobs on the side. Nope. Couldn’t be that.

To my awesome readers, who have continually asked when this book would be finished, thank you. I’ll admit it. Life got so hectic at times, I actually forgot I was writing it. If you hadn’t kept reminding me, this book would still be under construction. You pulled me through. You are the reason I still fancy myself a writer. You rock.

Justina Roquet, my beautiful, brainy seester, thank you for your editing expertise, yet again. School may be out for the summer, but you kept your red pen out of storage just for me. You’re the best!

Thanks also goes to my supportive husband, family, friends, and the cupcake girls. You make me feel like a rock star, even on my worst days. And finally, thanks to my online followers. Some of you make me feel like a maniacal cult leader, but I kind of like it.

If I’ve missed anyone, go ahead and send me an angry email at angela@angelaroquet.com and I promise to thank you from the bottom of my heart next time.

Book 3 of Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc.

Lana Harvey, the new captain of the Posy Unit, is having a hard time settling into her new position, especially since demon rebels keep trying to sabotage her and her colleagues’ harvests. No one seems to know how they’re tracking the reapers, but Lana is determined to discover their secret with the help of her new boyfriend, Beelzebub. However, the investigation is interrupted by Meng Po, who comes to Lana demanding that she fulfill a promise. Lana soon finds herself in the midst of the fickle Fates who run a soul recycling plant, the Three Fates Factory, in Limbo City. If she’s not careful, they just might recycle her.
