  So he had.

Selicia had come after her, and Harli had run, and Michael had known all about it and done nothing.

Levi hated him with a fury that scared him. Here's hoping I never run into him again.

"There are so many flowers in here, it's starting to look like a botanical garden," Kim said, smelling the latest basket sitting on Harli's bedside table.

"Yeah. I don't know what we'll do with all these." Levi dug into his hamburger. "Harli hates it when flowers die."

  "Cemetery."

"What?" His head jerked up, food forgotten.

  Kim and Jace both froze.

Harli's eyes fluttered open and landed on Levi. "Hi," she croaked.

He screamed. Like a girl. He jumped to his feet and ran around her bed. Kim, ever the rational one, ran to the hall to get a nurse.

Harli watched them before her eyes slid closed again. Desperate to keep her with him, Levi kissed her gently on the forehead.

A small smile lit her face.

Harli had come back to them.

  ROCKER BOY SONG

  Written by Josh Allred

  [Verse 1]

Since we were young, we'd only had one dream

And I swore I'd make it all come true

You'd circle every place you'd want to see

And I finally found a way to show them all to you

And I didn't mind the constant buzzing of the stage because...

At least I had you by my side

And you'd just smile through all my mistakes

And I never took the time to see the pain those smiles hide

  [Prechorus]

And I don't know why it took so long before you left

Not one time I put you first and not one promise that I kept

Thought I was doing us a favor, but now I see I got it wrong

As I would drag you by your love for me through this world you don't belong

  [Chorus]

  You stood strong

  You hid your scars

Until I finally pushed too far

And I can't blame you now for leaving how you did

I asked you to be more than what you are

  [Verse 2]

I felt the swarming haze of digital surround me

As it gave access through our door

Became a slave to all of their demands

While you just laughed and said, "Boy, this is what you asked for"

  [Prechorus]

And I don't know how it took so long before you left

Not one time I put you first and not one promise that I kept

Thought I was doing us a favor, but now I see that I was wrong

As I would drag you by your love for me through this world you don't belong

  [Chorus 2]

  But you stood strong

  You hid your scars

Until I finally pushed too far

  And I still hold on

  To what we had

But no song I sing could ever win you back

And I can't blame you now for leaving how you did

I asked you to be more than what you are

  [Bridge]

Oh, I lost you in the song and dance

  The grandeur of the circumstance

Only thing I can't afford to lose

  And I don't deserve a second chance

Oh, why'd I ruin all our plans?

And wait too long to give a damn?

You mean more to me than what you are

And without you now, I'm less than what I am

  [Chorus 3]

  You stood strong

  You hid your scars

Until I finally pushed too far

And I can't blame you now for leaving me

'Cause you knew all too well that I was weak, oh

  You stood so strong

  And hid your scars

Until I finally pushed too far

And maybe one day, we'll be friends again

But never feel the way we did back then no no

  No no

  No no

I can't make you love me again

  [Final Chorus]

  But you stood strong

  You hid your scars

Until I finally pushed too far

  And I still hold on

  To what we had

But no song I sing could ever win you back

And I can't blame you now for leaving how you did

I asked you to be more than what you are

I asked you to be more than what you are [2x]

  About the Author

WENDY KNIGHT was born and raised in Utah by a wonderful family who spoiled her rotten because she was the baby. Now she spends her time driving her husband crazy with her many eccentricities (no water after five, terror when faced with a live phone call…). She also enjoys chasing her three adorable kids, playing tennis, watching football, reading, and hiking. Camping is also big: her family is slowly working toward a goal of seeing all the National Parks in the U.S.

You can usually find her with at least one Pepsi nearby, wearing ridiculously high heels for whatever the occasion may be. And if everything works out just right, she will also be writing.
