“What is it?” Odessa asked.
“I don’t know,” said Darden. “But it is weird. It’s even locked.”
Abigail was quiet. She stared at the door for what seemed liked forever. Memories started to dredge up from her tragedies. The door called out to her.
“Get away from it,” said Abigail.
“What’s wrong?” Darden asked.
Abigail stepped forward. She reached out her hand as she walked forward.
“Do you know why there is a door here?” Grifith asked.
“It’s Nikali’s,” said Abigail.
“How?” Odessa asked.
Then Abigail put her hand on the door handle. She could feel the arcan flowing through the door and connected with the others.
All the doors.
Hundreds of them. All built by the hands of Aul.
Abigail’s eyes went wide. “We have to go.”
“What’s wrong?” Odessa asked.
“There are countless of them,” said Abigail as she reached out with her arcan through the doorway. She could feel the connection, a network of doors that scattered across the entire Eluan Empire. “Hundreds of doors all scattered across Eluan. The Cylo Forest, the Capitol, Sier, the End Sea. Nikali can be wherever he wants. He can strike out at all of Eluan. We’re not safe anywhere.”
