Porsche 911 chief August Achleitner emphasized that he and his colleagues planned every step in the evolution of the 997—from Carrera and Carrera S introduction in 2004 through GT2RS and Turbo S in 2010—in advance, carefully, and logically. Customers and enthusiasts can count on the same “Intelligent Performance” again from Weissach’s engineers and Zuffenhausen’s management when the next-generation 911 appears. It will be stronger, lighter, safer, and quicker. It will emit less carbon dioxide, slip through the air more efficiently, and require less fuel to achieve greater output. It will look familiar and familial. And it will astonish journalists and customers with its technology and its pure driving pleasure.
