‘Just about how we had a conversation on getting married,’ I said.

His eyes widened. ‘You told her.’

I nodded. ‘Did I say something wrong?’

He shook his head. ‘No, it’s just that Anita isn’t going to like it.’

‘I know,’ I said. ‘But I can at least try to correct the matter by being humble and apologizing. Even though I know she won’t apologize back.’

‘She definitely won’t,’ he said. ‘Why are you doing this?’

‘I told you; I want to fix it,’ I said, taking his hand. ‘It’s upsetting you, this whole situation. You don’t need that, coming home and getting back into the swing of things. You don’t need this stress.’

He looked to my lips. ‘There are other ways to relieve stress.’

‘I bet you’re thinking of a very specific one.’

‘You weren’t in the mood last night,’ he said, leaning into me and brushing my hair off my shoulder, kissing at my neck.

  I leaned into his kisses. ‘It’s true, I wasn’t.’

‘What, you still aren’t?’ he asked. ‘Because I have half a mind to tie you up again.’

  I smiled. ‘I guess I’ve been a naughty girl.’

  He laughed.

‘Are you OK with me seeing Anita?’ I asked.

‘I don’t like that I won’t be there,’ he said. ‘I guess there’s not much I can do about it, though. If you feel that it will make things better, then there’s no harm in trying. Things can’t really get worse.’

‘God, I hope not,’ I said.

He stared at me for a moment. ‘Lie back.’

  ‘What?’ I asked.

He stood, taking off his towel, revealing his manhood in all its glory. I could only smile, doing as he said.

He got on the bed, my legs spreading as he got on top of me, his body hovering above mine, though I could feel the heat sinking into my skin. He leaned down, kissing me, sucking me into the moment as his tongue flicked against mine.

I stroked down his sides until I got to his waist, pulling him towards me, my sex already pulsing.

He pulled up my pink T-shirt, kissing my bare stomach. My hands went to my jeans, unbuttoning them eagerly. He helped me pull them off as I grabbed hold of my T-shirt and pulled it over my head.

He looked at my bra and panties, smirking.

  ‘What?’ I asked.

‘They’re pink,’ he said, before kissing my cleavage. ‘I didn’t think you owned pink underwear.’

‘I know your affection for the colour,’ I said, my hand resting on his shoulder as he kissed down my stomach again.

‘Not quite that pink,’ he said between kisses.

He pulled off my panties, stopping. ‘I want you to do something for me.’

  ‘OK...’ I said, unsure.

‘Tomorrow night, I want you to wear the vibrating panties,’ he said.

  ‘Tomorrow night, at Mister Brody’s?’

  He nodded. ‘Yeah.’

‘Are you nuts? You want me to orgasm in the middle of dinner?’ I asked.

He smiled a little. ‘Yeah, actually.’

‘Maybe we should wear it in public somewhere else first, you know, the mall or something,’ I said. ‘We haven’t even tested it out yet. Same with We-Vibe.’

‘Tomorrow night will be the perfect time to test it,’ he said.

‘We don’t even know how loud it is,’ I said, shaking my head. ‘I never thought I’d say it, but I’m drawing the line. I’ll wear it if we go to dinner just you and me, but not at an important dinner like Mister Brody’s. It’s rude.’

‘All right,’ he said, ‘but you want to try the We-Vibe now?’

‘Sure, I already set it up to charge.’

He got off the bed hurriedly, walking to the dresser. The device was charging in the dock, the little light on it a solid green. He pulled off the case, taking the toy out. ‘It’s really soft.’

‘Let me feel,’ I said. ‘Ooh, it is. Silky. I like it.’

‘So,’ he said, looking over the box, ‘the dick-shaped part goes on your clit while the flatter end part goes against your G-spot.’

‘I know,’ I said, ‘I read about it online. Apparently we need lube.’

He took the hint, grabbing the lube from the top drawer and tossing it at me. ‘It has different speeds, so you should put it inside so we can figure out which you like best.’

‘OK,’ I said, putting lube on flat end. ‘You know, a little self-lubrication would be good, too.’

He smirked, putting the remote for the toy on the bed. He lay down on his stomach, his face in my crotch, inches away from my sex. He slid his arms through my legs, holding onto my thighs as he gave a long lick.

‘Ooh boy,’ I said, my legs starting to shake.

‘I love it when you shave,’ he said, staring at my most private parts.

‘Well, I’m not going to let myself get hairy,’ I said, ‘Save for the top part, I like having hair there.’

He looked me over. ‘Not that you can see much of it because it’s blonde.’

He didn’t give me time to answer, his tongue diving inside of me, giving a long lick to my clit. He ravaged it, licking and sucking, making my whole body tense with pleasure, getting so close to coming that I was going to scream. I would always be quick to come when Quinn went down on me, no matter how many times he did it – and he did it a lot.

He pulled away from me, pulling his arm out from under my leg. ‘I think you’re good now, give me the toy.’

I handed him the device. He pushed the button on the head of it, nodding as he felt the powerful vibration; though it was pretty quiet. He inserted it, the tip resting on my clitoris, the flat end inside me.

The head on my clit was powerful, making me grab hold of the sheets, my legs shaking as I felt that sharp, pleasurable pain sink right down to my toes.

  ‘Good?’ he asked.

  I nodded. ‘Oh yeah.’

‘How’s the G-spot part?’ he asked.

‘Could be a little more powerful,’ I managed.

He grabbed the remote, which had four buttons; one on the top and bottom that turned the vibration up or down, one on each side to change the pulse. He switched the vibration function, turning it up, a stronger vibe making my G-spot spring to life.

‘Ooh boy,’ I said, throwing my head back. ‘You better get inside of me before I come; it’s gonna happen quick.’

He scrambled up, quickly putting himself inside me, the intense feeling of being so full making me let out a whimper.

  ‘Oh, shit,’ he said, ‘Whoa.’

I could feel the ridges rubbing against my G-spot, the vibration pulsing, moans being drawn out of me. Quinn wasn’t doing any better, his ragged moans filling my ears.

‘Oh shit,’ I said, the clitoral stimulator making me call out, feeling the orgasm building. ‘Oh, I’m going to come, Quinn. Shit, don’t stop.’

He sped up and I started to come faster, the orgasm building and exploding before I could try to stop it. I moaned loudly, calling out, the orgasm rocking through me from my head to my toes. It didn’t take long for Quinn to join me, our ragged breathing filling the room.

I started to feel a little pain from my clit being attacked by the vibration, pushing Quinn away, taking out the toy and turning it off.

‘We,’ he panted, ‘will be using that again.’

I put it down, my chest heaving as I tried to calm my heart, which beat a mile a minute. ‘Yeah. How did it feel for you?’

  ‘Pretty amazing,’ he said. ‘You?’

‘Pretty amazing,’ I said. ‘I think the vibrating panties are going to pale in comparison.’

His right brow lifted. ‘You could use it instead. It’s quiet enough, and I’ll have a remote.’

I thought about it. ‘Yeah, I guess. I’m still not wearing it tomorrow night, though.’

‘Just gives me incentive to take you out to dinner,’ he said. He leaned in and kissed me playfully.

/>   ‘You need incentives now; I guess I’m a bore at dinner,’ I said, wrapping my arms around him.

‘Ah, I just don’t like people,’ he said, ‘but you seem to enjoy it.’

‘It’s nice to go out once in a while, but we tend to go out more often than most, so it’s a lot nicer when we take nights like these and stay in,’ I said with a little smile. ‘If you don’t like going out to dinner we can always stay in. I don’t need wining and dining. I’m a sure thing when it comes to you.’

He laughed a little. ‘A sure thing. I guess all those roses were a bit much.’

‘I had to put vases of them everywhere. I don’t know what to do with them all,’ I said, ‘but I love every one of them. And I loved coming home to you naked and waiting for me. It was a nice change.’

‘You don’t get out without me that often, so I took the opportunity,’ he said.

‘Hmm, yeah. We’re kind of stuck at the hip, aren’t we?’

‘Probably my fault,’ he said. ‘I don’t get much time with you during the day any more, can’t go down to the thirtieth to see you.’

‘Way to make me feel bad,’ I said, letting go of him.

He grabbed my waist. ‘I don’t want to make you feel bad about it; it’s just a fact.’

‘Do you want me to get another job?’ I asked, seriously.

‘I told you; I can find you one,’ he replied.

I shook my head. ‘No, I want to know if you want me to get another one.’

He looked in my eyes, taking a moment. ‘Only so you’ll be close.’

‘Not because you think I should have my own money?’ I asked.

‘What? Where did you get that?’ he asked.

‘I don’t know,’ I grumbled. ‘I keep thinking maybe I should get a job to get Anita off my back, but I guess there are few choices she’ll approve of.’

‘Unless you were to get some executive position at a company I’m not affiliated with, you’re pretty much S.O.L.,’ he said.

I crossed my arms. ‘I guess it’s a moot point then. Like I could get an executive position.’

‘You could,’ he said, ‘I could hire you at my company, but that still looks bad.’

‘And you’d really only make a position where you could get at me and bang me,’ I said, trying not to smile.

‘Yeah,’ he said, not even trying to lie. ‘You don’t need to impress her.’

  ‘I know,’ I said, ‘I know.’

‘I’d rather you didn’t impress her,’ he said. ‘Because then you’d be up to her standards and one of them. I want you to only be up to my standards, and, so far, you exceed them... most days. Sometimes you do stuff that drives me crazy.’

  ‘Like crying?’ I asked.

‘Yeah, actually,’ he said. ‘I don’t really know what to do when you’re crying other than hold you.’

‘That’s all you need to do,’ I said, snuggling up to him.

‘You know, us fucking in the den was pretty hot,’ he said. ‘We should do that more often.’

‘I’ll keep that in mind,’ I said with a smile.

‘Maybe we should use the We-Vibe and you do that move again,’ he said.

I smirked. ‘You just come up with the dirtiest ideas. I love it.’

  Chapter Thirteen

I was unsure how this evening was going to go. I mean, I knew it was going to be dinner, but Donald Vandermeer was going to be there and I was pretty unsure of him... OK, I didn’t like him. Not enough to go straight to hate, like Ellie Peterson, but still not liking him. I had a feeling he was going to make sure something was going to happen, something not so pleasant for me or Quinn. Especially Quinn.

We walked into the dining room, the silvery dining table seating twelve. Little sculptures sat here and there as well as expensive art on the walls.

I had been to Mister Brody’s before and it was just as glamourous then, the room so large that at least twenty people could stand around comfortably. Of course, Quinn wasn’t too comfortable being in the $28 million dollar mansion. I now knew why; he would have a huge mansion if it weren’t for Donald Vandermeer.

I was hoping I was dressed appropriately, my dress pink with black piping around the waist and neckline, as well as before the little sleeves on the shoulders. It went just past my knees, hugging my curves.

I tossed a curl over my shoulder as Quinn and I stood by the dining table.

‘So,’ I said, turning to him, ‘this should be fun.’

‘Is that sarcasm?’ he asked, smirking.

‘A little bit,’ I said. ‘This dining room is huge.’

‘Would you rather I live in a large house like this?’ he asked.

I thought about it, shrugging. ‘I don’t know; the condo is already huge, too big for just two of us. It would feel like a waste of space.’

He nodded, taking in what I said. ‘So the condo is too big?’

‘Well, just for two people, but I wouldn’t want you to sell it or anything. It’s home now; I can’t imagine living anywhere else. Why are you asking?’

‘Nothing,’ he said, shaking his head.

  ‘Quinn,’ I said.

He sighed. ‘This is exhausting, telling you what I’m thinking. Do we really have to do it?’

  ‘Yes,’ I said, nodding.

‘All right,’ he said. ‘I was wondering if you would prefer a larger house for the future.’

‘The future? How do you mean? We don’t want kids, so it’s not like we’d need the space,’ I said.

‘I didn’t mean children, just... for after we get married, if you wanted to move, start over,’ he said, obviously struggling with not only how to word it, but the discomfort of actually saying it.

‘Start over? Why would we want to start over?’

‘I don’t know,’ he said, shaking his head.

I leaned into him, kissing his cheek. ‘I like the condo. No need to upgrade when we already have the best.’

He nodded, trying not to let a smirk loose. ‘Good. Finding a house would be tedious.’

‘You’d really find one if I wanted one?’ I asked.

  He nodded again. ‘Yeah.’

  ‘You spoil me,’ I said.

‘You have no idea,’ he said, looking up as Mister Brody walked into the room.

Mister Brody was shorter than Quinn, a little plump, though his face was kind and he had a nice smile. He always seemed to be smiling, at least around me. Quinn mentioned that Mister Brody liked me because I was pretty, which was probably the case. He was older, much older, probably close to sixty.

‘Ah, Mister Quinlan,’ he said. ‘Miss Fournier, how lovely to see you!’

I smiled. ‘Your house gets more impressive each time I see it.’

‘Thank you,’ he said, nodding. ‘Keeps the wife happy. I’m sure Quinlan will know what I mean soon enough.’ He winked at us.

I tried not to laugh, Mister Brody looking over my shoulder.

‘Ah, Mister Vandermeer,’ he said, walking around Quinn and I to the doorway where Donald stood, Ellie Peterson on his arm. ‘And Miss Peterson.’

Ellie wore a red, figure-hugging dress. Donald wore a red tie to match, his suit a simple black, but probably expensive, as was Mister Brody’s.

‘Mister Brody,’ Ellie said with a smile. ‘I hope you don’t mind that I accompanied Donald.’

Mister Brody shook his head. ‘No, not at all; the more the merrier. I believe we all know each other, so why don’t we sit? Junior will be down in a minute.’

We all took our seats, Mister Brody at the head of the table as I sat to his right, Quinn beside me. Donald sat to Mister Brody’s left, right across from me, Ellie to his left.

Mister Brody looked to me. ‘So, Miss Fournier. How is the writing going?’

I nodded. ‘Very well. I’m still waiting on word from my agent, but I’ve been doing work in the meantime.’

‘Hopefully events like these don’t interrupt your process,’ Mister Brody said with a little smile.

>   I shook my head. ‘I tend to take the weekends off, have a little break. It’s also the only time I get Quinn to myself.’

‘Lucky man,’ Donald said, his eyes on me.

I looked away from his gaze, smiling to Mister Brody.

‘Quinlan,’ Mister Brody said. ‘You were off for a while, how have you settled in?’

Quinn nodded. ‘It’s been busy. I’d say I’m still trying to settle in, trying to catch up on things, but I’m confident where I am.’

Donald had a sadistic grin. ‘We all have our little slips.’

I looked to him, my brow furrowing. I felt like asking him what he meant by his comment, my gaze going to Ellie. I tried to shake it off.

Quinn kept his sights on Donald. ‘True. But it’s how we bounce back that dictates our strength.’

‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger?’ Donald asked.

  ‘Indeed,’ Quinn said.

Donald looked to me. ‘Others can sense the weakness.’

I glanced to Quinn before looking back to Donald. ‘Everyone has weaknesses,’ I said. ‘It’s how we overcome them that matters.’

Mister Brody nodded. ‘I agree with Miss Fournier.’

I looked to Quinn. Point for Team Quinn!

‘It’s a cut-throat business,’ Donald said, picking up his glass of water. ‘The wolves will smell blood. We wouldn’t want our business reputation to be tainted by such a thing. Would we, Quinlan?’

  OK, point for Team Donald.

My eyes flickered at Ellie, catching that stupid smile once again. I noticed how silent she was. Something in me knew she had told Donald something. Had Anita told Ellie about Quinn going to rehab?

‘I suppose not,’ Quinn said, keeping his cool. ‘What business is it of theirs, though?’

Mister Brody nodded. ‘It’s hard keeping personal topics private in our business.’

‘Everyone seems to try to exploit them,’ Quinn said, his eyes on Donald. ‘Use them for their advantage.’

‘When it’s so easy, who can resist?’ Donald asked.

I was thankful when the servers came into the room, bringing our food, placing salad in front of us. I looked up as Daniel Jr. walked in, putting his hands up.

  ‘I’m sorry; I’m late, I know.’

‘You’re actually right on time,’ Mister Brody said. ‘We only just started.’
