You tell anybody, and I'll kill you. The voice of her father matched the rhythm of her pounding head. The winds picked up a violent strength, pushing her around.

I'll kill you. Her father's voice repeated as she relived him kicking her in the stomach and punching her in the face. Dizziness overcame her. She bent over and vomited. Bad memories evacuated her body like the bile that was escaping her lips. She wiped her face, careful not to over exert any motion that would incite the dizziness again. She continued to walk toward the distant light.

Had she only kept her mouth shut and pretended she didn't see what she saw maybe she wouldn't be here now. She ached to be ignorant of everything that had happened. Regret set in and she wished that her father hadn't seen her spying on him. But even so, she knew she couldn't keep quiet any longer. Growing up in that house was horrifying. She couldn't let her baby sister stay there any longer.

At least she got her to safety. Kadyn reasoned that no matter what happened to her, at least her sister would never experience her father's wrath again. That's all that mattered now.

The land was reasonably flat and the grass growing from on it had been eaten by the cattle on the farm, but Kayden was having a hard time walking a straight line. She tripped on a root and stumbled trying to catch herself before falling into a patch of worn grass.

Her ribs pressed against her internal organs, making it hard for her to breathe, while both her legs cramped. She contracted her body into the fetal position willing the pain to go away as her migraine intensified. Flashbacks of being beaten at the hand of her father played over again in her head.

She pressed both of her palms to the sides of her head and squeezed hoping that if she applied enough pressure, she could stop the dialogue of abuse. She laid there holding her ribs, feeling the dirt on her face and praying that the pain would stop, but the chilling winds wouldn't let her stay there for long. Each gust of wind brought with it a biting cold that froze her extremities. She was losing feeling in her fingers and toes and knew that she needed to keep going. She wouldn't put it past her father, being the mean son of a bitch that he was, to double back and finish her off.

She planted her knees and one hand on the earth. Supporting her weight, she stood up using her other hand to hold her ribs. A wood fence with round posts was only a few steps away. If she could get over that the house was just on the other side. She focused on taking one step at a time until she reached the fence. She bent over and slid between the slats. As she brought her right leg over, her left leg gave out and she fell to the ground.

It was useless. Her legs wouldn't work for her anymore. The pain increased and she cringed as she let out a loud groan. Undeterred, Kayden crawled for the house. She felt herself getting closer. Despite her vision being blurred, she saw the door to the home was open with the screen door allowing light to shine outside. A surge of hope ran through her. She thought she might actually have a chance. She prayed that the homeowner would take pity and help her.

Exhausted, Kadyn could no longer pull her own body weight toward the house. Her vision became more blurry. She wasn't sure but she thought she saw a figure coming toward her. She reached her hand out into the darkness toward it as everything went black.

  Chapter 2

Max Collier stood on his front porch looking at up into the night sky. Eighteen months in this body and he was still learning how fragile the human body was. Being a farmer was fine. It allowed him to stay away from most of the other people in town. No one seemed to notice that he had taken over this man's human form. Apparently, the real Max Collier was an introvert who tried to stay away from as many people as possible because nobody ever came out looking for him.

Farm work was tough. Being a cattle rancher was a huge job, and from the intelligence he got from his crew before coming here, they certainly didn't tell him everything he needed to know. Fortunately, he wouldn't have to wait much longer before returning home and leaving this body.

He used his host’s lungs and inhaled a deep breath of chilly air, before slowly exhaling. As his chest expanded to take another breath, he heard a low groan from out in the field.

Startled, his head snapped in the direction of the sound as he grabbed his rifle. The light from the house was preventing him from seeing very far, so he squinted to get a better view.

Stepping down off of the porch, Max moved closer to the sound. He saw a shadowy figure on the ground. From a distance it looked like it could have been a sick cow. He almost immediately dismissed this as it was too small. A calf, perhaps?

The closer he got, the more clearly he could see. Lying on the ground was long, curly, blonde hair. He realized it was a human female. The realization she was crawling toward him, her arm reaching in his direction, startled him to move faster toward her. She mumbled something and then fainted.

Her body was lying face down in the dirt. He looked around to see where she came from, but saw nothing. His alien senses did not detect any other humans, and with the house being surrounded by acres of land several feet from a dirt road, he knew there was no one else was around for miles. How did she get out here?

He moved her hair away from her face, noticing immediately her beauty. As his fingers brushed her cheek, he could feel the blood running through her veins. Her heartbeat was faint but still pumping. And then there was a shock. The surge of electricity that ran through his body was both somewhat painful, yet exhilarating.

  Dammit.

He didn't have his gloves on. That was one of the drawbacks of contact with other human beings. The experience of touching them was 1000 times more sensitive than a human’s touch. Usually he was able to prevent that by wearing gloves and staying away from people, but he knew he was going to have to touch her if he was going to help her.

  Focus, he thought.

He surveyed her injuries and checked her pulse. The shock of her electric aura intertwined with his, creating the euphoric feeling that deepened the longer he touched her. He released her as if he had been shot.

Her injuries were serious and if something wasn't done right away she could die. There was no time to take her to the hospital. The only thing he could do was take her inside.

He used her clothing to cover his hands before picking her up, careful not to move her too much and injure her further. Her head nestled into his shoulder, her soft groan intensified his need for her.

Not now, he said, frustrated with himself.

  Chapter 3

"Where is she?" Kadyn's father wrapped the leather strap around his hands holding it tight and walked toward her.

She tried to run but her movements were slow and he gained on her. She felt the strap against her neck as her father pulled on both ends tightening it.

"You're no daughter of mine. I'll kill you." The words stung in her ears.

Holding on to his hands, she released a gagging sound as her airway was forced shut.

Kadyn jerked her head up startled, and looked around realizing she had been dreaming. Disoriented, it took her a minute to realize she was sitting in a bath tub filled with hot water.

  Naked.

Wet hair adhered itself around her heart-shaped face. Reality slowly dawned on her that she wasn't alone. Had her father returned and taken her back to his house? She didn't recognize the bathroom she was in. This was a bigger, nicer bathroom than anything her father had ever had.

  Then who brought her here?

Kadyn surveyed the room looking for any hint of the pale pink tank top and jeans she was wearing. There weren't any clothes. Only a white towel hung on the door across the room.

Kadyn grabbed the edge of the tub expecting her legs to support her body weight, but was surprised when they didn’t. She winced at the pain of her injuries and slid back in the tub. Disorientation turned to panic as she realized she couldn’t move. She grabbed her leg and began massaging and pounding on it, willing it to move.

The noise interrupted her, and she realized she wasn't alone in this house. She used her
upper body to bend over the side of the bathtub and flopped onto the floor of the bathroom. Crawling as fast as she could toward the door, she reached for the towel but it was too late.

  He walked in.

  Chapter 4

Max walked into the bathroom and found her on the floor sprawled out wet and naked. She looked like a trapped wild animal to him. He couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she looked despite her wet hair stuck to her face. She grabbed a toilet brush and tried repeatedly to stab him with it. If he hadn't realized how terrified she was he would have had to laugh at the absurdity of the situation. But he knew it wasn’t funny. She was in pain and he needed to see to her injury.

"Stay away from me!" She said.

"I am trying to help you," Max replied.

He was unsure whether to pick her up and put her back in the tub or leave the room, but he knew that she couldn’t move by herself. He leaned down and put his hands underneath her, relying on his gloves and his long sleeve shirt to protect his skin from hers. She screamed hit him repeatedly over the head with the toilet brush.

He set her down gently in the tub noting her confused look.

  "Sit still, Kadyn,” he said.

  Chapter 5

Kadyn's eyes widened. She stopped protesting and looked at him. Her surprised look was obvious to Max. How did he know her name? Had she said it before she blacked out? Did he know her personally? She had never met this man, but he seemed to know who she was. A shot of fear stabbed her heart. Could he be a friend of her father’s? Is that why he dumped her so close to his house?

"How do you know my name?" She demanded.

Max looked at her blankly. His jaw jutted out in a staunch, stoic pose as if he were a Greek statue made of marble and devoid of feeling.

"How did you get out here?" He asked.

Kadyn tried to fill in the blank spots in her memory, but many parts were still foggy and confusing. She kept seeing flashbacks of fighting with her father kicking and punching her, but she couldn't make out the timeline as to when this event happened.

"I was dumped here." She responded cautiously.

  "By who?" Max asked her.

Kadyn could tell he wasn’t going to answer her question without her answering his first. A sharp pain in her left rib made her groan as she massaged it with her hand.

"If I tell you, will you tell me how you know my name?" She asked.

  "I might." He said.

"Might?" Kadyn wondered what kind of game he was playing.

  "Yes, might."

Seeing as she was naked in the tub at a stranger's house injured and unable to move, she didn't feel she had many choices.

  "All right." She said.

Max kneeled down by the tub next to her. His black hair and tanned skin complemented his cerulean blue eyes. The adrenaline pumping through her body up to this point prevented Kadyn from seeing how incredibly attractive he was. It wasn't the time or place to think such things, but she couldn't help notice there was something about this stranger who made her feel safe.

"My father did this to me." Her eyes drifted downward focusing on the water.

  "Why?" He asked.

"Because I found out something about him that he didn't want anyone to know."

She withdrew her hands from the water and looked at them. Her fingers were starting to prune from being submerged so long. She splashed water on her face and rubbed it into her cheeks.

"If you've lived in this small town for any amount of time, then you know my father. Our family name isn't exactly the best in the county." She added.

"Well, I just moved here about 18 months ago and being that I'm so far away from town. I haven't exactly met the welcome committee yet." He looked at her grinning.

She raised her eyes to meet his and saw that his toothy white smile made her feel a little better.

"So, how do you know my name? And why do I still not know yours?" She asked.

"Max Collier, ma'am." He gave an acknowledging nod in her direction.

She almost blushed at the country gentleman, she saw before her. It was strange. She was sitting in a tub full of water completely nude, but his gentlemanly manners were what was making her blush.

"Max Collier, why am I in this tub?" She asked.

He gazed at her, took his gloves off and rolled up his sleeves. "Water is a good conductor."

She gave him a confused look.

"You have a couple of broken ribs and some internal bleeding. If we don't fix it, you could die." He said.

His calm manner unsettled her. She hadn't realized her injuries were that serious. The way he was talking with her made her feel they had all the time in the world. She even forgot for an instant that she was in pain.

"How do you know that?" She was getting nervous now.

"Please, just trust me." He said.

He got on his knees and leaned against the tub, putting his hands in the water. He touched her legs, slowly moving his hands up her thighs. Kadyn's body tensed as a surge of pleasure permeated throughout her entire flesh. In one instance, she no longer felt pain. Quite the opposite in fact, it was one orgasmic explosion generating from the tips of her toes all the way to the hairs on her head. She closed her eyes and leaned back against the tub. Small groans escaped her lips as she tried to cope with the intensifying pleasure. It was like tiny explosions forming in all areas of her body going off all at once. She was no longer self-conscious about her body in front of him. The sensations were so great that she could do nothing but focus on not losing total control.

She opened her eyes slightly and found him staring at her. Her gaze turned to her own body and realized that her skin had a yellow glow to it. He was doing something to her, but she had no idea what. She was paralyzed in ecstasy.

  Chapter 6

He knew there was no easy way to tell her who he really was. Humans had a hard time understanding the concept of extraterrestrial beings. The last thing he needed was to draw attention to himself, especially since his mission was almost complete.

But this was a special situation. She needed his help and truthfully, he didn't want to see her hurt. There was something about her that evoked a primal urge to claim her. When he found her, she seemed so innocent and vulnerable.

She kept pushing how he knew her name. The truth was, he didn't until he touched her that first time. It was easy being of his advanced intellect and capabilities to read her mind. Human contact was the catalyst for bringing out all of his special powers. And because they were so sensitive to touch, it was easy to yield the electric energy that helped heal their own bodies.

One of the major side effects was an overwhelming sense of pleasure for both of them. Rather than answer her questions, he decided to sedate her in a manner of speaking. When she awoke, she would be completely healed, and he would still have questions to answer.

He waited for her to reach unconsciousness before pulling her out of the bathtub. He carried her to the bed and laid her out covering her with the sheets.

The healing process had one downside. It could be physically addictive for the body. He shut the bedroom door, walked out and sat down on the living room couch. His hands were shaking as he tried to focus on getting rid of the urge to take her fully. To mate with her now so close to the end of his mission would be a mistake. He couldn't leave any trace behind when he left.

Still, he couldn’t leave her alone now that she was in danger. When she woke up, he was going to get to the bottom of why her father hurt her.

  Chapter 7

"Can I help you?" Max stood in the doorway, looking at a stranger on his front porch. The man was in his late 50s and had a couple of guys standing by the truck.

"Yeah, have you seen a woman come around here?"

His southern drawl made it difficult for Max understand him at first. He stood there, the cigarette hanging out of his mouth waiting for his answer.

Kadyn could hear his voice from the bedroom where she was. The door was closed, so she put her e
ar up to it to listen. It was her father, she was sure of it. Her breathing became laborious as she fought to stay calm. She was frozen in place afraid that any movement could give her away.

A silent prayer escaped her lips that Max knew not to tell him she was here. There wasn't much she could remember about last night, except that she shared what felt like an out of body experience with him. All she remembered was talking to him before an overwhelming sense of pleasure radiated throughout her body. It was so unbelievable that she couldn't take it all in. The next thing she remembered was waking up this morning.

As she stood there with her ear against the door, she realized that her legs worked again. She could move them and could even put all of her weight on them. She felt no pain at all.
