“I’ll take your word for it on that one,” I said.

  “So?” she asked.

  “So what?”

“Do you want to use one of the condoms we have? Or no?”

I looked up into the eyes of the woman I’d desperately fallen in love with. The woman that had come into my life two and a half years ago and flipped it on its head.

I basked in her green eyes as her blonde hair cascaded down her back, long and strong and ready for my fist to wrap up within it. I could feel her heat growing against my pelvis as my cock began to rise. Her lips were traveling closer to mine as her body dipped down into my grasp.

She hovered her lips only millimeters away from me before I shook my head.

  “No,” I whispered.

  Chapter 12- Paige

My lips descended onto Zach’s as his hands drifted up my back. His fingertips unhooked my bra silently before brushing my shirt over my head. My breasts settled in front of his face, and he took one in his hand.

He wrapped his lips around it as his blue eyes stared back up at me.

I loved the feeling of his tongue and how it circled my nipples and pulled them to painful peaks. I loved the way he nipped at them, pulling them out slightly before he released to watch them bounce back. My hands tangled up in his luxurious hair as his hands massaged my thighs. He was moaning into my skin, sending shivers down my spine as I rolled my hips down into his.

Gripping my ass, he lowered me onto the couch. His lips kissed down my body while his hands unbuttoned my pants. He slid my clothes down my body and tossed them to the side, then reached his hand out to help me sit up.

“Ready to sit on your throne?” he asked.

My body shivered in anticipation as he removed his shirt. His rippling muscles left me breathless every single time. I reached out for his abs and allowed my fingers to cascade down them, taking in each chiseled separation of his muscles that he kept toned just for me.

I started imagining what it would be like to have a child with Zach, what it would look like for him to cradle our newborn child in the hospital. I thought about our daughter or son nuzzling into that chest of his, playing around on his stomach as he laid on the couch with them. I thought about watching him run around and play with both of our children and how in love they would become.

Zach’s tongue pulled me from my thoughts, and his hand pressed down onto my pussy. He pulled my folds upward, exposing my clit to the cool air, and he blew on it. I shivered as I melded into the couch, my hand clutching his as the other ran through his hair. His eyes flickered up toward me as his tongue dipped down, flicking just the tip of it. I jumped at his motion.

His lips descended on me and sucked me in. I could feel his tongue pressing into my clit as my hips rolled into his face. My heels dug into the carpet as his tongue swirled around my pussy, drinking my juices down and humming in sweet satisfaction.

I felt my body jolting as I thought about being pregnant, my body swelling with Zach’s child as my feet spread and my hips ached. I thought about how he might enjoy my pregnant body. How lazy our sex would have to become in order for me to enjoy it. I thought about riding his cock as he held my pregnant stomach, praising my body as he cradled my stomach lovingly. I thought about waking up one morning to feel his hands splayed around my stomach, just like he had splayed them out when he had walked through the door.

My legs straightened out as that coil wound tighter. Electricity was leaving me breathless as my body surged with want. Images of Zach pounding into my pussy bombarded my vision. Images of him helping me out of bed because I was rotund with his child brought tears to my eyes. I saw him rocking his newborn child. I saw him changing diapers.

I saw him smiling at them as they graduated preschool, and I saw tears in his eyes as they graduated high school. I saw him dancing with Blithe at her wedding, holding her close and murmuring into her ear that it wasn’t too late. That if she wasn’t sure of her decision, all she had to do was say so. A protector until the end. That was what I saw in Zach.

  “Oh, shit. Zach. I’m coming.”

He buried his tongue deep into my body as my juices spilled onto the couch. His tongue rushed up my slit, licking up every last drop of me he could. I could hear him swallowing. I shivered as his tongue flicked my clit one last time, reminding me of the pleasures that were to come.

I collapsed onto the couch in a fit of breathless pants as Zach kissed the insides of my legs. I closed my eyes and allowed the sensation to sweep over me. Goosebumps covered all the corners and crevices of my skin. No one could love me like Zach could. No one could make me feel as safe as he could. No one could make my body feel the way it did or protect me the way he could or provide for this family the way he was.

He would make a wonderful father, and I couldn’t have asked for a better man than him.

I heard Zach stand up as he pushed his pants to the floor. I opened my eyes and found his erection standing tall and proud in my vision. He dipped down toward me and encompassed my lips, allowing me to lick my essence off his skin as I moaned. I loved the taste of myself upon his tongue and how his sweat intermingled with my arousal. He pressed me deeply into the couch as his chest settled against mine. Then he slowly dipped me to my side and rolled me onto my stomach.

“Oh fuck, yes,” I said with a whisper.

“Give me those hips, beautiful, and let me do all the work.”

My skin tingled from the sound of his voice as I lifted my ass into the air. I planted my hands into the couch cushions as he painted his precum on my ass. I groaned at the sensation, my pussy wanton for his cock to be within it. I wanted to pull him deep into my body and hold him there until he gave me everything he had brewing in those balls of his.

“I need you,” I said breathlessly. “Please let me feel you.”

He swiped his cock between my pussy folds, gathering my dripping juices on his skin. He pressed the head of his cock into my entrance, a moan escaping from my lips. No matter how many times I felt him and no matter how many times he pounded into me, he could still make me shake.

And oh, how my legs trembled.

His hand reached up and wound itself into my hair. He pulled my head back, just enough to pick my face up off the pillow. He sunk himself down to his hilt and held himself there, groaning as my pussy fluttered around him. I could feel my juices dripping down my slit, leaking onto the couch below us as my body yearned for him.

“Making these children with you is gonna be so much fun.”

His words didn’t even have time to hit my ears before he was pounding into me. His cock sloshed in and out of my pussy while his balls smacked my clit. I braced myself against the arm of the couch and pushed back into him, my ass jiggling for his viewing pleasure. He tugged on my hair, pulling whimpers from my throat as my body sparked with pleasure.

“Holy hell, Zach. Fuck me harder.”

He released my hair and planted his hands on my lower back. I lifted my leg up and snaked it over his shoulder. I could feel him scooting closer to me as my body shook. His hands held my hips as his cock sank deeper into my body. My pussy was crying out for mercy, wanting its release as desperately as I wanted him. Zach placed kisses on my ankle as he rubbed my ass. Then he lifted his hand back and cracked it against my skin.

  “Yes!” I moaned.

He smacked my ass again, and it shivered my body. Over and over again, his hands came down onto my skin. I could feel it burning as my pussy throbbed around his cock. I loved it when he got aggressive, when he lost himself in me so much that he lost control. I could feel the animal rising up in him as his cock pulsed against my walls, growing in size and foreshadowing its end.

Then Zach pushed my leg off his shoulder, wrapped his arms around me, and pulled my back flush with his chest. His lips found my ear and slowly began to nibble. He moved his hips in time with his licks, taking it slowly as I shook against him. His hands played with my nipples as my hands wove into his hair, and suddenly, the animal
turned into a lover.

His breath was hot on my neck as I rolled my hips back into him. My ass cheeks were on fire, but his sweating skin felt so soothing against me. His cock slid into my body, shivering my legs as Zach held me close to him. His hand trailed down toward my folds, parting them with his fingertips and swirling around my pussy.

It wasn’t long before I was coming on his cock and collapsing in his arms.

  “Zach. Oh shit. Oh yes.”

He rolled his hips deeply into me, riding out my orgasm as his cock began to twitch. His hips stuttered against my skin, and I smiled as I leaned back into him. I turned my head and captured his lips, my throat swallowing his groans as he finally met his end. His cock pulsated within me, releasing hot streams of cum that filled my body to its breaking point.

We collapsed against the back of the couch, our lips still intertwined as he slid from between my legs.

“I love you, Paige,” he said. “And if you want to take the house from my father, then we’ll take it. Or at least we’ll take enough money from my inheritance to get any kind of house you want.”

Tears of joy crested my eyes, and I turned around and threw my arms around him.

  “Are you serious?” I asked.

“I want a family with you,” he said. “And I want it no matter how I have to get it. If you trust this decision, then so do I because I trust you just as much as you trust me.”

I buried my face into his neck as tears of happiness leaked from my eyes. “I love you so much,” I said breathlessly.

Our bodies sank onto the couch as he held me close to him.

“I love you too, Paige. I love you, too.”

  Chapter 13- Zach

  Two Months Later

Blithe and I drove to my father’s condominium in Brookings with one thing on my mind. Today was the day I would talk with him about the house. I told Paige two months ago that I would talk to him, but things got so hectic that it fell to the wayside. My father had a stroke that almost killed him.

I had gotten a phone call from the hospital in the middle of the night from the doctor. I had flashbacks of my mother’s body being carried out of my childhood home, and Paige was the one that encouraged me to go.

I took as much time off as I could before I had to go back to work. Then Paige traveled to his house and took my place. We eventually brought him back to Brookings to continue looking after him, but we could both tell he wasn’t doing well.

His motor skills weren’t what they used to be. His speech was still difficult to understand, and he was using a walker to get around. It took him much longer to pull memories from his past so he could relive them, and sometimes, he needed help eating.

It broke Blithe’s heart to see him that way. Night after night, she would curl up next to him, petting his cheek and telling him to feel better. I had no idea how to explain to her what was going on. How was I supposed to explain to her that a blood vessel in her grandfather’s brain had burst?

Paige and I took shifts. We hired an in-home nurse to stay with him in the condominium when neither of us could be there. Paige allowed her art to fall to the wayside again in order to take care of my father, and it hurt my heart. I knew she was stressed. I knew she was suffering. I knew she was doing the bare minimum when it came to taking care of herself.

I could see the grease stains forming at her hairline sometimes. I could see the bags underneath her eyes sagging more than usual. I could see the handfuls of beautiful blonde hair in the garbage can. And when I woke up to the sounds of her crying in the bathroom this morning, I knew enough was enough.

I told Paige to take the day to herself and that Blithe was coming with me to my father’s. Paige crawled back into bed. and I placed a kiss on her forehead. She drifted off back into a deep slumber, her red eyes puffing up with the force of her tears.

I readied Blithe to go see my father before we headed out the door, bracing myself for the conversation about to take place. Something in our lives had to give.

Taking Blithe’s hand, we entered the lobby of the condominium complex. The front desk attendant greeted us as we made our way to the elevator. We rode all the way up to the top floor as Blithe chattered next to me, but I wasn’t focused on what she was saying at all.

Instead, I was rehearsing my speech in my head.

“Good morning, Mr. Harte,” the nurse said.

“You know you can call me Zach,” I said.

The woman nodded. “Your father’s doing very well today. He’s eating on his own and getting up out of his chair without his walker.”

“That’s wonderful news. When did that happen?”

“For the first time, last night. After Mrs. Harte left.”

I still loved when people referred to as her Mrs. Harte.

“I think your father should be able to recover almost fully,” the nurse ventured. “It will just take some time.”

“Zach, is that you?” my father asked.

“Grandpa!” Blithe took off running for my father, her arms wrapping around his legs.

“Hello there, little one,” my father said. “You ready to play?”

“Actually, I was hoping we could talk,” I said.

My father’s eyes rose to mine before he looked down at Blithe. “How about you go with Miss Pinkett to pick out a movie in my room, huh? Once your dad and I are done talking, I’ll come join you.”

  “Awesome! Thanks, Grandpa.”

“Come on,” the nurse said. “Let’s go find a good movie to watch.”

I watched Miss Pinkett take my daughter’s hand as my father walked up beside me.

“I still think she’s more than your nurse,” I said, grinning.

“Well, we wouldn’t want to ruin a beautiful lady’s reputation with such rumors,” he said.

I wrapped my arms around him and gave him a massive hug. “I hear you’re having a good day.”

“The first good day in a couple of months, I’d say. Now, what is it you want to discuss?”

  “Wanna sit down?” I asked.

I followed my father out to his deck that overlooked the ocean. We sat there for a long time, just taking in the view. I enjoyed times like this with my father: moments of silence where the two of us were simply experiencing the same moment together.

“What’s on your mind, son?” he asked.

“I want to talk to you about that offer you made me the last time we were at your house,” I said, keeping my gaze trained on the ocean.

My father turned his eyes to look at me. “Have you made a decision?”

“I have. I mean, we have. Paige and I want to start a family, but we just aren’t at a point where we can. Money’s tight, and the things Blithe needs are becoming more and more expensive.”

“Have you talked to your work about giving you more hours?” my father asked.

“I have, but they’re very family oriented. They know it’s important for me to have time with Blithe, and the overtime they schedule is usually on the weekends. I told them to keep me in mind, but they haven’t called.”

“What about Paige? How is her art coming along?” I glanced over at my father. He nodded. “Ah. Put on hold for me.”

  “It’s not like that, Dad.”

“I can’t help you if you’re not honest with me.”

I drew in a deep breath through my nose before I nodded. “Yes, she was just about to start trying to rework her business model a bit before you had your…”

I couldn’t even say it without tears cresting my eyes.

I cleared my throat. “We want to start a family. Well, grow the family we already have. I want to have a child with her. I want to give Blithe a sibling. But I didn’t take enough of my inheritance to be able to do that.”

“The house is yours, son,” he said.

  “Just like that?” I asked.

“Just like that. You find the home you want, and I’ll buy it for you. Or, just take more of your money from the trust. Take it all. It’s yours. Yo
urs and Mrs. Harte’s.”

I blinked as he said that. I wondered if it pained him that I had changed my name long ago.

“There isn’t… anything you want in return?” I asked.

I met his eyes for the first time since we’d sat down on the balcony, and I could see the hurt my words caused in his eyes.

“You’re a much better father than I ever was,” he said. “And when you and Paige decide to have another child, that child is going to be lucky to have a father like you. It takes a great deal of courage and confidence to ask someone for help. To admit that you’re struggling and that you need someone to reach down and help you out of your hole. I wasn’t strong enough to do that when I was raising you with your mother. I turned to alcohol to fix my problems. But you?” Tears rushed to my father’s eyes as he turned them back out to the ocean. “You have your mother’s strength.”

“You’re a good father now,” I said. “And that means just as much.”

“A boy needs his father growing up.”

“He also needs him when he’s grown.”

He turned his eyes back to me, and a tear trailed down his cheek. I could see my father’s lip trembling, the emotion encompassing his entire body. His shoulders began to shake, and without thinking, I got up and stood in front of him. I helped him out of his chair and pulled him into my arms, feeling him hold me close as he cried into my shoulder.

Tears I didn’t know I needed to shed barreled down my face, and as the ocean crashed behind us, we cried over our past. We cried over the death of my mother, and we cried over his wasted life. We cried over what had happened between us, and we cried over the hurt and anger we carried.

I kept hearing my father murmur “I’m sorry,” over and over again into my shoulder, and with every apology that poured from his lips, I hugged him tighter.

  “I love you, Dad.”

  “I love you, too, son.”

I helped him back into his seat before I quickly wiped at my tears. I cleared my throat and sat back down, my eyes peering out over the ocean again. I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders. I felt the last of the rift between my father and me finally close. His hand was resting on the table between us, and I reached out to take his hand within mine.
