  “Do you feel me, Ulixes?”

Nodding, he dipped lower and licked from the base of Kallon’s cock to the very tip, lapping at the thick veins running along the bottom. “Yes, and do you feel me?”

“Umm, put me in your mouth again, baby. I want to come down your throat.”

Ulixes thought he might shoot his own seed against the mattress. That sexy, husky voice had his cock bouncing against his belly and demanding attention. Reaching down, he clamped on and began pumping hard against the rigid flesh. He could barely get his words to release.

“I want to hear you screaming my name.” He easily slipped him all the way back in until he couldn’t take another inch.

Kallon latched on to the back of his neck and rocked his hips to match the quick bobbing of his head as he sucked and licked his mate to a writhing, grunting frenzy. His own cock was on fire and threatening to erupt at any second. Releasing it, he slipped his fingers through their combined sweat and slid two deep into Kallon’s ass. He heard Kallon grind out his name before his back arched off the bed. Muscles locked in a vise grip around his digits, and cum erupted down his throat. Over and over he swallowed, sucked, and licked, until Kallon fell limp against the sheets.

Rising rapidly, he straddled Kallon’s hips, clamped on to his own cock, and started stroking furiously against his screaming flesh.

“Look, Kallon. See what you do to me? I’m so hard for you. I’ve never been this free.” Grunting, he felt tingles rush up his spine when Kallon rose to one elbow, reached out, and palmed his nut sac. He massaged and pulled gently on the tightened flesh as his eyes locked on the show he was giving him. Kallon’s voice came out silkily and sensual.

“That’s it, baby. You like that I’m touching you. I can see the chills lifting across your skin. Make yourself come. I want to see it all over my body. Do it, Ulixes. Shit! You’re so fucking sexy. That looks so good, baby. Harder.”

Mesmerized, he watched as Kallon grabbed the end of his long braid, reached up, and brought the tail toward his heaving chest. He locked his jaw tight and felt him swirl the soft hair against his left nipple. He lost complete control. Cum shot up in long streams and landed on Kallon’s pecs, and he grunted from complete pleasure meltdown. Angling further down, he pumped furiously and watched the glistening fluid pattern along his tight abdominals and hairless groin. The sight of his seed marking the flesh of his mate had him moaning loud as he squeezed out the last few drops. A deep satisfaction suffused his senses as he watched Kallon slowly rub his seed into his skin, granting a silent acknowledgment that he belonged to him.

Releasing his sated cock, he lowered and caught Kallon’s lips with his own. He drove his tongue into his mouth and tasted himself within. The scent of cinnamon and spices wafted to his nose. Growling, he cupped the strong jaw and angled his head for a longer, deeper penetration. Pulling away, he looked into his flushed face and told him the truth.

“I love you so much, I feel like I’m going to explode.”

Kallon smiled, his pale green eyes glistening with a soft sheen.

“I feel the same way. I love you, too, Ulixes Memnon Dionysus.”

Eyes widening, Ulixes twisted and lowered to his side. “You know my full name?”

“Yes. You intrigued me from the moment I saw you step from the van when we took Luna from the hospital. I had to know as much as I could. You took my breath away. The emperor was kind enough to reveal it when I thanked him for granting you citizenship.” Leaning forward, Kallon placed a gentle kiss to his lips then pulled back. He looked down at his chest and grinned.

“Let me jump in the shower, and I’ll be right back. I have something for you.”

  “You do?”

“Yes. I’ve had it for some time now.”

“Oh. Okay. May I join you in the shower, Kallon?”

  “Absolutely.”

Managing, with great difficulty, to keep their hands off each other, they were clean and back in the bedroom in under an hour. Propped up against the headboard, Ulixes watched curiously as Kallon opened the closet door and reached up to the top shelf. Ulixes bit his lip as he watched the long blond braid sway across his bare back and sculpted ass. He conjured images of it wrapped around his wrist as he took this beautiful male from behind. Pushing the tempting thoughts aside, he tried to concentrate on what Kallon was doing. He pulled a large black box out and turned around with a shy smile on his face. He approached the bed and set the gift on his lap.

“I put this in here last night when you were outside. I hope you like it.”

Ulixes laid his hands gently on top of the box and ran his thumbs back and forth along the expensive covering for several moments. He felt tears biting at the back of his eyes and tried to get his shit together before he looked up. Confident he wasn’t about to unman himself, he whispered what he’d never shared with anyone.

“This is very special to me, Kallon. No matter what lies inside, it will always be cherished.” He heard Kallon’s soft chuckle before the mattress dipped and he sat next to him on the bed.

“How can you say that? You haven’t even opened it up yet.”

Finally able to lift his eyes, Ulixes shook his head.

“No, you don’t understand. I’ve never received a present before. The closest that anyone ever came was Lucien bestowing Insedi citizenship on me.” Kallon’s eyes widened.

“You’ve never had a present? Not even for your birthday?”

“No. We were too poor for such things. We were lucky to have vegetables from the garden. Gifts were luxuries for the wealthy.” Kallon took a deep breath, presented a brilliant smile, and then patted him on the forearm.

“Well, then. This is cause for further celebration. We’ve completed another milestone.”

Damn, he loved this male. He’d shoved right past that awkward confession and left his pride intact. How had he gotten so lucky to have this beautiful Insedi as his partner? Surely, the gods had finally found favor with him. He smiled when Kallon tapped the top of the box.

“Go ahead. The suspense is killing me.”

Laughing, he lifted the lid and set it to the side. Reaching inside, he pulled out a heavy object wrapped in blue silk. Peeling the shimmering material aside, Ulixes gasped when he saw his initials intricately embedded in the dark, fine-grained leather of the rectangular box. Setting it on his lap, he lifted the latch on the front and opened it up. This time, he couldn’t stop the tears. He let them flow. There was no control for them, and he didn’t really care anymore. Kallon had seen the worst side of him. Why shouldn’t he know how much this particular gift, his first, meant to him? It was priceless. He felt a comforting pat to his thigh and Kallon’s soft words.

“It’s a box to keep your chess pieces in. The inner material is suede, and each piece has its own slot. You’ll not have to worry about them rolling aimlessly about and chancing that they may chip when you travel with them.”

Ulixes nodded, but couldn’t lift his eyes or speak a word.

“I know that your chess pieces are very special to you. I could tell that by the way you cared for them after we played that first time. The way you lovingly wiped them down before putting them away made me think there was a story surrounding them. I thought they deserved a worthy resting place.” He closed his eyes when Kallon gripped his forearm in alarm.

“Oh, gods! I hope I haven’t offended you. Perhaps their current box is special as well? I’m sorry if I assumed too much.”

Ulixes set the case aside, reached over, and pulled Kallon into his arms. He buried his head next to his and whispered against his ear.

“No, my love. It’s perfect. Absolutely perfect. You have no idea what this means for me.” He relaxed when Kallon’s palm glided gently across his back.

“Tell me then. I’d love to hear the story, if you don’t mind.”

Scooting over, he patted the mattress. “Sit beside me while I share it.” Clasping Kallon’s hand, he brought it to his lips and gave it a soft kiss before
pressing it to his chest.

“I’ve told you of the visits I had with my little brother. Each time the troops passed through, I’d quickly find them and we would spend hours together by the marbled fountain in the center of town. It was the busiest part of the village, and my mother figured that father wouldn’t see us. He preferred to stay away from the bustle of the square. It wasn’t until after I’d fled Protonecis that I learned my brother had passed away a year after I’d last seen him. One of father’s plow animals had kicked him when he’d gotten too close. He died instantly.” He felt Kallon’s hand tighten.

“Oh, gods! That’s horrible. I’m so sorry, Ulixes. This is beyond tragic.”

“Yes. It wore on me for quite a while. It was yet another thing for which I blamed myself. You know, had I still been at home, would a different scenario have played out that day? I know now that thinking that way was ridiculous. There was nothing that I could have done.” He kissed Kallon’s knuckles in thanks.

“Anyway, I discovered the news of his death because I had, with the help of the emperor, contacted the Protonecis senate about relocating my family in case Basilius thought to seek revenge on them in my absence. They discovered that my father had abandoned the farm shortly after Tarnian’s death and left my mother to fend for herself. She was in failing health when they found her. She sent a dying message of love within a sack containing nothing more than forty chunks of marble. The message from my mother let me know that Tarnian had collected the shards from broken areas around the fountain where we visited. He’d told mother that he did so as a reminder of his brother until he could visit again.” Ulixes cleared his throat and tried to keep his voice even.

“That damn near destroyed me, Kallon. It was so fucking sad from every angle. I’d been teaching him how to play chess with small rocks and sticks. He’d told mother that perhaps one day he and I could fashion his find into chess pieces and then we could play properly. I’ll not lie to you. I cried for two days after reading her note. I took the marble and had a full set crafted in his honor.” Ulixes turned and looked at Kallon’s sad face.

“Now you know why your gift meant so much to me. You’ve not only honored me, but my brother as well. You make me feel whole again and that I belong somewhere. I never thought it possible. Will you do me a favor, Kallon?”

At the quiet nod, Ulixes slid down on the bed and turned to his side. He rested his head on the pillow and lifted his arm. “Will you lie with me here and let me hold you while I sleep?” Kallon reached forward and traced his thumb across his cheek, wiping the tears away that he hadn’t even known had continued to fall.

“I would love to.” He scooted into his arms and rolled to where his back smashed up against his chest.

Wrapping him in a strong grip, Ulixes smiled when Kallon placed a soft kiss against his hand and then tucked it under his chin. He could feel the low rumble of his words as he spoke.

  “Ulixes?”

  “Yes?”

“You know that you don’t just belong to me now, don’t you?”

  “What do you mean?”

“You’re Insedi now. Not just a citizen, but also a true Insedi warrior. You belong to Insedivertus as well.”

Hugging him close, Ulixes kissed the side of his neck. “Since the moment I stepped onto this beautiful planet, I knew that I should be. Thank you for making it real.”

“I love you, Ulixes. Sleep, my love. I’ll join you in your dreams.”

Ulixes closed his eyes and slept the most peaceful rest he’d had in his entire life. He was finally home.

  Chapter 30

Caelius felt like shouting in happiness to the pre-dawn sky as soon as his feet stepped onto Earth. Rhia’s arms were wrapped tightly around his waist, and her nose was buried against his chest. Lowering his chin, he placed a small kiss to the top of her head and gently squeezed her.

“We’re here, baby. You okay?” He felt her head bob up and down, but she didn’t step away. That suited him just fine. He could stand here all day and let her cling to him. If he’d ever felt like a fully-grown male that could protect his mate, this moment in time was the real deal. The necklace’s recognition of her as his other half had sealed that forever. She made him feel powerful, in control, and in love. He smiled when her muffled words drifted to his ears.

  “I like this.”

  “Like what?”

  “Standing here, holding you.”

“Me, too. You want to hang out and just dance around for a little bit?” She giggled and lifted her head. Gods! Those piercing gray eyes and beautiful smile turned his insides to mush. She had so much power over him, and she wasn’t even aware of it. If she asked him to reach out and quickly pull the sun above the horizon, he’d give it his damn best to make it happen.

“That sounds fun, but I’m going to pass. My stomach is screaming, so if you can point me to the nearest diner, then you’ll make me the happiest woman on the planet. Well, this one anyway.” She gave him a little grimace and his stomach dropped.

“Ah, shit! I should’ve fed you before I dragged you away. I’m so sorry.” He stepped back and clasped her hand. “Come on. Let’s get out of here and I’ll find us some place to eat.” She smiled, and he led her down the trail. Rhia patted him on the arm and he glanced back. She had a curious look on her face.

“Why weren’t there any guards here, like the other one?”

“We don’t need them permanently posted. They come in every two hours and check the site. The emperor decided that if someone got this far in and was waiting to pounce on anyone stepping out, then our secret wasn’t so secret anymore. The guards are stationed at the entry roads, and they roam around the property. It’s best to catch any intruders that far out instead of focusing here.”

“Hmm, good point. So, exactly where are you taking me? We’re in the middle of nowhere.”

Caelius pointed to the end of the canyon wall several meters ahead. “The helicopter is around that corner. They’ll give us a quick lift to the other site where we can pick up my car.”

  “Ah. Good.”

Several minutes later, Caelius stood at the transport site and released a resigned sigh. The helicopter wasn’t there. Neither was the Suburban. “Well, hell. I was in such a hurry to get you back I obviously didn’t plan well enough. I should’ve sent a message through first so they’d know we were coming.”

“Can you do that mind-call thing Tana told me about and let them know we’re here?”

Shaking his head, Caelius pulled her toward the canopy that hid the transports from the air. “I wish I could. I don’t know which warrior is on post right now. We’ll just have to wait until they get back. I’m sorry, sweetness. Your tummy will have to wait a bit.” He felt her pat him on the back.

“No worries. Let’s just kick back on these lawn chairs and enjoy the sunrise. I’m sure they’ll be here soon.”

Dragging two chairs together, he sat and clasped her hand. The morning air was cool, and the sight of the sun just barely peeking over the horizon was breathtaking. He loved how Rhia could sit very still for long stretches of time and not say a word as they enjoyed the quiet moment. She had such great patience. He should learn from her. He smiled at the thought that he would have hundreds of years to do that very thing. As soon as he got her back home he had plans to finalize the mating. He wanted her to be totally his, no questions asked. He shivered in excitement and felt his cock twitch at the thought.

  “Hey, Caelius?”

  “Yes, sweetness.”

  “It must be very hard.”

Blinking rapidly, he glanced over to her and felt a twinge of relief that she wasn’t looking at him. He pulled his T-shirt a little further down to hide his semi. Damn, he couldn’t control himself around her. She was just so fucking sexy. “What?”

“To keep this place a secret. It looks like we’re hundreds of miles away from anything, but doesn’t the constant flying in and out cause any concerns for the authorities? The government’s a suspicious
bunch. Have you guys ever been questioned?”

“You’re very smart, Rhia. We’ve been lucky so far. That’s why the emperor doesn’t want to take any chances. Plans are underway to build a tunnel system between the two vortex sites. When it’s complete we’ll be able to go immediately underground far from here so it’s not so obvious. From what I’ve heard, there’ll be one arrival point for vehicles, and then a rail system will pick up or drop off as needed.”

  “Sort of like a subway.”

  “Yes.”

“Excellent. When will they start building this? I can’t even imagine how difficult that’s going to be.”

“Two weeks, I think. Yes, it’s going to be very elaborate, but I’m sure that the plans will be precise. Our Trejani is very clever.” He watched her nod her head. He leaned closer to her and grinned.

“Speaking of clever, how long did you follow me, Rhia?” He felt his cheeks stretch tight when her face flushed pink. She turned to him and grimaced.

“I was wondering how long it was going to take you to ask me that. Okay, I confess. As soon as you drunk dialed me, I was on the next flight to Los Angeles.”

  “Really?”

“Yup. I caught your show in Hollywood and stayed on your tail from there.”

Caelius squeezed her hand. “Well?” Her eyebrows rose.

  “Well, what?”

  “Did you like it?”

  “You know that I did.”

  “No I don’t.”

“You just want to hear me say it, don’t you?”

  “Yep.”

“Okay, fine. You made my panties wet. I got jealous when the other girls started touching you, so I left before I jumped on one and started pulling her hair out. Happy now?”
