Jayda smiled grimly. “That’s something we should all do.” She looked at the gathered crew and support staff. “It’s my intention to learn as much as we possibly can from this rock. Commander, as soon as Shay determines the reason your boots were unaffected, I’d like you to escort a larger tech team back to the derelict.”
“We’ll remain on short-term readiness, Admiral.”
“Good. If that’s everything?”
“Permission to keep weapons locked on the enemy vessel, Admiral?”
“Granted, Captain. But if you fire without my express permission, I will throw you out of the airlock, one piece at a time. Is that clear?”
“And if it attacks us?”
“In that event, you will do your utmost to weather or avoid such an attack. I hear you have a competent helmsman?”
“Yes, Admiral.”
“Then I will expect a spirited ride, but no shooting.”
“Yes, Admiral.”

Who is Kalvin Thane?
Kalvin Thane was born in 1976 and grew up in Billings, Montana.
He was very excited to find out about the opportunity that Amazon gave authors with the ability to self-publish.
He has always enjoyed science fiction novels, which is why he chose to write in that genre. Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game had a huge impact on Kalvin's life, but it wasn't until later in life that he became a voracious reader. In college, he borrowed the Star Wars X-wing Legends series from a friend and hasn't stopped reading fiction since.
