Instead he would be required to launch an attack on the vampires, giving the same message he had given to the wolves. Just thinking of Conner made him smile; remembering the moment his life force ebbed away. Time to feel that power again; he needed to remind them that they are not infallible. Incite chaos, and eventually their teams would weaken enough to be ripped apart by his minions when they arrived.

And here was his prey; he smiled at him in recognition.

"Hey, long time no see. Didn’t I see you at the wedding? Man they are a great couple. What are you doing wandering the streets at this time of night? It is not safe in this area."

"You are right of course, I just lost concentration and didn’t realise what time it was. Then I heard a noise down that alley. Now if I could just find my watch…" Pretending to search his pockets, his quarry couldn’t help but check the alley. Knowing that he only had a split second, he pulled the stake and plunged it into the man's chest, piercing his heart. He watched in rapture when the man's eyes opened wide.

"What….Why?" The man fell to his knees. He only had seconds to end this, using the end of his umbrella; he unsheathed the sword and sliced through the man's neck watching as his head detached from his body. Satisfied that his work was done he made his way from the alley, his steps rushing. Take that Vlad, now who's the stronger one?

Theo rounded the corner, the smell of blood drawing him, vampire blood. He stopped dead at the scene in front of him; he didn’t need to look to know he was too late. Lifting his cell he called Ben.

Vlad was going through the monthly reports, when Beth came in wearing a little blue dress and some killer black heels. Just looking at her made him think of bed, their bed to be precise. With a wink at Beth, he lifted his cell to his ear.

Beth watched as his face fell, just as she slipped her hand on his shoulder, he teleported. Vlad hadn’t even known that he had brought Beth with him. He had thought of Theo and here he was, in a dark, wet alleyway, the stench of urine hitting him at the same time as the sight penetrated his eyes. The night felt heavy, ominous as he took in the scene.

"No, no, no." Falling forward he looked at the head of Julian, the body a few metres from it. His friend of centuries was gone just like that. With a roar his body began to boil in rage. Julian's face stuck as one of surprise. Vlads face was one of devastation, Beth dropped to her knees in front of him, separating him from the sight. As Vlad cried, she held him, with the rain penetrating their clothing, running down their faces. He was gone, Julian had left them but Vlad would have vengeance.
