Dragon Fire: Dragon Knights (The Sea Captain's Daughter Book 2)

Her father had put her practically under house arrest since he’d come home, and Gowan didn’t want to be the cause of any further hardship for the lovely Livia. If he could, he’d ask her to marry him right now and take her up to the Lair, but marriage among knights wasn’t such a simple matter. He’d learned, much to his annoyance, that it required the input and agreement of more than the usual two parties.
No, there were two dragons involved and another knight. And until Genlitha chose a mate, Gowan had no idea who the other knight might be.
It was a mess, to be sure.
As far as he was concerned, he’d made up his mind. He wanted Livia in his life. She was perfect for him in every way. But he had no idea if the other unknown knight would feel the same.
Genlitha tried to console him that the Mother of All had a hand, more often than not, in Lair marriages, but Gowan was skeptical. And impatient. All he saw were the obstacles. He didn’t see how they were going to overcome the biggest one—Genlitha finding her mate first, when she’d been unmated for hundreds of years already.
There was no guarantee that Genlitha would settle down in Gowan’s lifetime. Although his lifespan would be expanded by a century or more, if he didn’t die fighting, it was entirely possible Gen wouldn’t mate for decades yet.
Which didn’t bode well for Gowan and Livia’s chances of being together long-term.
He hadn’t known any of this when Genlitha spoke the words of claim over him. He wasn’t sure he’d undo it if he could. Being with Genlitha was…pure magic. But not being able to give Livia the kind of commitment his heart yearned to have with her… That was pure hell.
Livia let go of their hands and walked farther into the cave, raising her hands and spinning in a slow circle. She looked so joyful his heart lifted. How could his bad mood last when faced with Livia’s pure heart?
“Isn’t this place amazing?” she asked them almost rhetorically as she explored the cave. “We used to come down here when I was a little girl. Father always said this was the pirate’s cave. The dread pirate MacRobert’s hidden hidey-hole.”
“It might very well have been,” Seth said, looking around, as well.
“It might still be,” Gowan added, shooting them both a pointed look.
“Well, he’s not here now, so I say this place is ours for the next few hours at least,” Livia said, grinning as she walked closer to him.
“And what shall we do in our new domain?” Gowan played along as she put her hands around his waist and smiled up at him.
“We’ll think of something, won’t we?” Livia asked with that teasing light in her eyes that let him know exactly what she had in mind. Good. They were both on the same page.
But was Seth?
Gowan looked up to meet Seth’s gaze. Blue sparks lit his eyes as he watched Livia rubbing up against Gowan. Oh, yeah. Seth was on board too.
It was time for Gowan to go to work.
“Seth,” he said in a low voice. “Spread our cloaks on the softest sand you can find.”
Command came naturally to him, even more so in this sort of situation. He was glad Seth was secure enough in his own right to play along with Gowan’s dominant tendencies.
If only Seth were a knight…and his dragon partner was Gen’s mate….
Yeah, right. Gowan might as well wish for the moon on a silver platter. But it would have been good. He knew that already.
So he’d enjoy it while it lasted and do his best not to think about the future. He’d also do his best not to let either Livia or Seth think about it either. This time was for them—as a threesome—stolen away from the world, wrapped up only in each other.
Seth moved to take the traveling cloak from Gowan’s shoulders. Livia helped, untying the closures for him with her dainty fingers.
The cloaks Gowan and Seth had worn were specially designed to be both wind and water proof so that knights riding atop dragons wouldn’t be frozen by the cold air that blew in lofty heights or drenched by clouds. They were made of stout fabric that had been treated with some sort of waterproofing substance. Seth probably knew exactly what was used and how they were made, but Gowan only knew he wouldn’t want to fly without such protection.
The cloaks could double as a tarp while on the ground, and that’s the purpose they’d use them for today. A nice big tarp under them, with Gowan and Seth’s clothes on top to make it softer and warmer, while Livia’s clothes lay folded neatly a distance away, safe. If Gowan had his way, Livia would leave this cave dressed as beautifully as when she’d entered. Nobody would know by looking at her what they had been up to—especially not her father.
After the cloaks were spread to his specifications, making a nice large solid foundation, Gowan nodded at Seth. Both of them began disrobing, placing their clothing in strategic layers on top of the cloaks, concentrating mostly on the area where their upper bodies would rest. Livia tried to help, but Gowan ordered her away with a look, and she smiled up at him, complying, which made him want to grin.
She was a biddable little thing when it came to pleasure. That was something that pleased him enormously. And he anticipated a lot more pleasure shortly.
Livia licked her lips as the two men revealed their gleaming muscles bit by bit. She’d died and gone to heaven. Her dreams were coming to life. She’d spent so much time thinking about the few times all three of them had been together, she almost tried to pinch herself to see if this was real.
But she couldn’t have imagined the healing wounds and new scars on her boys. They’d both seen fighting during the battle for Dragonscove, and both had come out of it with injuries. Thankfully, none were too terrible, but they both had a few new scars. In Seth’s case, he hadn’t had many to begin with. He’d spent most of his life denying his warrior abilities.
It seemed he’d been making up for lost time since befriending Gowan, though, which had turned out well for the town. If not for Seth directing the cannons and leading the troops on the shore into battle when the pirates tried to storm the beaches, she didn’t think there still would be a town.
Seth had done more than anyone had ever expected of him to defend Dragonscove, but Gowan, too, had been part of it. He’d fought his share of pirates during the battle and had been an instrumental part of the harbor’s defense. Both of them were heroes—battered, bloodied, but going strong. She had never been prouder of anyone in her entire life than she had been of them in the aftermath of the battle.
It had been some days since the fight, but both men were still recovering. A few of the deeper gashes would take some additional time to heal and leave only a scar behind. She looked her fill at each and every inch of their bodies as they were revealed, planning how she would caress them and kiss their hurts. If they let her. Or, more accurately, if Gowan let her.
She shivered, anticipating his orders. She’d never experienced such pleasure as that time the three of them had been together in the Lair and Gowan had been in charge. She liked his bossiness in the context of the bedroom. He didn’t even try to order her around otherwise, but at certain times, in special circumstances—like when they were naked—she not only welcomed it but wanted it.
Like she wanted it now.
As she stood there, she realized her knees were trembling. Not in fear, but in anticipation.
Both men stripped to the waist, spreading their shirts out on top of the cloaks, and she realized they were sacrificing their clothing to make her bed. A warmth settled in her heart that was never far away when she thought about either man. Seth, with his blond good looks and boyish charm, had grown as she had, from the boy she’d loved from afar to this golden god of a man who now stood before her. A little battered from the fight he’d been in, but more handsome for it in her eyes.
And then, there was Gowan. A newcomer to their small world of Dragonscove. A compelling man in his own right. Hardened in ways Seth wasn’t, she found it a challenge to make him laugh, each one of his smiles prized. He’d seen hard things in his life. He
d lost his home and created a new one with his dragon partner. He seemed adorably unsure of himself sometimes, though she’d never let him know that she noticed. He was so new to being a knight he didn’t have that arrogance that some of the older knights from the Lair had.
Neither did Seth, though he took being around dragons for granted. It was clear that, to Gowan, being around dragons was still something new and magical. Not that Seth took any dragon for granted, but it was more like he was their kin…somehow. Like he loved them and understood them on a level Gowan didn’t but was striving to learn.
As Seth taught Gowan about dragons, Gowan taught Seth in return about being a fighter—and a leader of men. She could see it happening before her eyes, though she doubted either man was fully aware of the changes they’d each wrought on each other. They were a good team. Good for each other. She felt a little pang at the idea that they would have made an amazing fighting partnership…if only…
But she understood Hrardorr was scarred beyond the obvious injuries. He wasn’t ready for a knight. Most dragons went off alone after losing a knight and grieved for many years before returning to the fold to try again. Because of, first, his grave injuries and then blindness, Hrardorr hadn’t been able do that. The loss of his knight was still a fresh wound in his heart and his soul. To ask him to take a new knight so soon, and with him still unsure of his place in the world as a blind dragon, was asking too much.
She pushed the sad thoughts from her mind as Gowan and Seth approached, one on either side of her, intent clear in their eyes. In silence, they began undressing her, inch by delicious inch, taking their time.
As her shoulders were bared, they each kissed one. Gowan stood to her left and slightly behind while Seth was on her right, slightly in front of her. He met her eyes but then looked to Gowan as if for direction.
Oh, yes. Gowan was in charge again, and Seth was playing along. This promised to be mind-blowing.
Her blouse lowered little by little, Gowan and Seth both loosening the ties that held all her clothing in place. Her skirt fell to the floor, and she felt Gowan dip down behind her, pausing to bite the curve of her butt in a playful way that made her squeak before he coaxed her feet up one at a time, removing the skirt. He rose, and she was peripherally aware of him folding her skirt neatly and putting it well out of harm’s way while Seth freed her breasts and immediately began kissing and fondling them.
Gowan returned, and she watched him watching Seth sucking on her skin. The combination of Seth’s expert touch and Gowan’s dark eyes noting everything made her shiver…and want more. So much more.
Then, Seth moved to one side, and Gowan joined him, plying her body with gentle touches.
Seth went around to the back as he untied her drawers and took them off. He, too, seemed unable to resist biting her butt cheek on the way down. He lifted her feet gently, one at a time, and rose again, pausing to run his hands over her bare ass, dipping between her legs for a quick, almost ticklish, foray before he left.
He folded her clothing—the drawers and the blouse he held in his other hand—and placed them carefully down with the skirt.
As he walked back, he held her gaze, almost daring her to watch as he unbuttoned his pants and let them drop, along with his smalls. Her eyes widened as he closed the distance between them, his cock standing out at full attention, ready for her.
Gowan moved back when Seth moved in behind her. Seth lifted her hair away from her neck, bending to nibble on her ear and the soft skin of her neck while Gowan removed the rest of his clothing in front of her.
“Watch him now,” Seth coaxed, whispering in her ear. “See how eager he is for you? Like I am. How much we both want you?”
Seth played with her taut nipples while his breath fanned the sensitive parts of her ear and Gowan stood only a few feet away, lowering his pants, his cock jutting out, hard and ready like Seth’s, for her to see.
Seth pulled her closer, and she felt his hard cock against her skin. Then, Gowan moved closer, letting her feel his hardness against her lower abdomen.
“Are you ready for us, sweet?” Gowan asked in a low voice that made her want to purr. “I regret we don’t have all day to play here. What time we have is stolen away, and we cannot go as slowly as I’d like.”
He was apologizing? Now?
“It doesn’t matter. I’m ready,” she whispered, her voice ragged as her breathing went shallow with desire. “I want you now. Please don’t make me wait.”
“Is she ready, Seth?” Gowan asked, a twinkle in his eye as he looked at his co-conspirator over her left shoulder.
“I’ll check and see,” Seth growled, sliding his hand down over the curve of her ass and dipping his fingers into her wet heat.
She was more than ready. She was almost desperate. It had been too long since the three of them had been together in passion. She’d missed them so much. Her body had missed them…and wanted them.
“She’s wet,” Seth reported, in a rumbly tone that made her even wetter. He trailed his fingers up her back, leaving a cool line in their wake that mirrored the shivery sensation running up and down her spine.
“Is she?” Gowan asked, looking not at Seth now, but deep into Livia’s eyes. “I’ll have to see this for myself.”
And when he said see, he meant it. Gowan kissed his way down her body, dropping to his knees in front of her. It might seem a submissive position, but she had no doubt that Gowan was very much in control of their every move in this passionate dance.
His fingers spread her, his tongue licking out to taste. Her knees gave out, and she would have fallen if not for Seth at her back, holding her up, his strong arms under hers, supporting her as her bones melted in pleasure.
Gowan took his time, despite the fact that they had to keep this encounter relatively short. He gave her several small climaxes that only made her want more. Seth watched the whole thing, making her even hotter.
By the time Gowan rose again to his feet, she was ready to beg. He must’ve seen it in her eyes because he smiled then, satisfaction in his gaze as he kissed her sweetly, letting her taste her own flavor, faintly, on his lips.
“I believe she’s ready now, Seth. What do you think?” Gowan didn’t wait for a reply. Instead, he bent slightly and placed his hands under her butt, lifting her high in the air and making her gasp at the unexpected movement.
What was he doing?
Seth helped, supporting her from behind while Gowan moved her again, sliding her against his torso until her open legs met his hard cock. Holding her gaze, he lowered her slowly onto him, impaling her gently, watching her with an intensity she savored.
Seth remained behind her, but this moment was all about Gowan as he took possession of her body…and soul.
He seated himself fully, and she caught her breath. It felt so good to be filled by him again. Like she’d come home. Like she’d been incomplete without him and was only now starting to regain her balance. Though…there was still a little something missing. A little something that was about six feet tall with blond hair, and he was standing behind her.
The strength of Gowan’s arms impressed her. He was holding her as if she weighed nothing at all, though Seth was there, a safety net should he be needed. Or…that’s what she’d thought until Gowan gave Seth a small nod over her shoulder.
And then, she felt Seth’s hand move to her splayed cheeks, spreading something that smelled faintly herbal and felt deliciously slippery. Was he going to…?
Oh, bright stars in the heavens, he was. His fingers slipped inside, stretching her gently. First one, then a second followed, then a third. The sensations were indescribably delicious, making her want more, just as he removed his fingers and replaced them with something a bit more substantial…
Slowly—so slowly—Seth began to slide into the way he’d made so accommodatingly slick. His breath was warm on the nape of her neck while he worked his way inside the tight spot, the fullness of Gowan’s cock in her pussy making the fit exq
uisitely exciting.
She hadn’t done this with anyone but them. Would never contemplate doing it with anyone else. This was strictly for the three of them. A perfect physical union made tragic by the fact that it could never be permanent. But while she had it, she was going to enjoy it. This was one of the few times she could really let go and be herself—and allow her boundaries to be pushed in a way that helped her grow into the person she was becoming.
Without these two perfect men, she knew she would never have dared this much. She cherished every moment with them, and yet, she knew their time together was finite.
Seth seated himself fully, and then, Gowan dictated a pace that made Livia mindless once more. There was no today. No tomorrow. No beginning. No end. There was just the three of them, joined as one. Scandalously enjoying the carnal delights she would only ever share with these two men.
She reveled in their strength as they held her between them. She marveled at their skill, and finally, she gave herself up to the ecstasy, chanting their names as they pushed her to levels of pleasure she had only ever felt with them.
She was theirs. Body, soul, pleasure and heartache. It mixed in a wave of indescribable emotion that made the world spin.
When it began to slow, she found herself lying on her side, between Seth and Gowan, on the pallet the men had made out of their clothes. They were in a tangle of arms and legs, and she had no clear recollection of how she’d gone from them holding her up to them holding her on the ground, but she didn’t much care.
Her body was almost boneless in the aftermath of the brightest climax she’d felt in a long time. Not since their last trio session had she felt even close to what she’d just experienced.
She knew they couldn’t linger too much longer, but for the moment, she was going to enjoy snuggling with her lovers.
CHAPTER SEVEN
Gowan was basking in the afterglow of pleasure when Genlitha’s thoughts came to him. She was still down on the beach with the youngsters, but she’d kept lines of communication open with the Lair and the goings on in the Council session. The news wasn’t good.
