My mom leaves to get a cup of coffee. Jesus. Now I’m in for the Jordan inquisition.

“Why the hell did you lie to that officer, Shiv? That was so stupid. Someone is trying to kill you. It is not a joke.” Her eyebrows creases and she bites her lip.

“Look. I had to lie for my mother’s sake, but I have the officer’s card. I’ll call him later and explain everything.” I grab her hand but she pulls away.

“You better. Maybe we can just transfer for the last semester. That shit with Grayson and now this. It really isn’t an ideal situation to return to anyway.”

“I can’t run from this. That kind of thinking is exactly why I lied in front of my mom. Not all my classes would transfer and I want to graduate this May.”

“Your life is more important, don’t you see that?”

“We’ll figure this out over the break. Let’s just wait and see what happens. We don’t even know that someone tampered with the tire.” Jordan gives me an “Are you stupid?” look. “Okay, but I need to finish what I started. We will graduate from USC and then plan what’s next for us.” She gives me a smile that doesn’t reach her eyes. I try to sell her a confidence that I don’t truly posses. My heart is shattered and someone may be trying to kill me. Life has to look up from here because I can’t fall any further. At the start of the academic year, I was in a great relationship, lived with my best friend who I adored, had one more year to complete a degree I’m excelling at and excited about, and was ready to move forward with my dreams of starting my own business. A business in what, I don’t know yet, but the prospect was there. Then everything changed. Everything. My love life, my friendship with Jordan, my self-esteem. Will I still be able finish my degree on time so I can pursue my goals of becoming a business owner or will Vanessa decide to use her vindictive nature and indisputable evidence to destroy those dreams too?

S.R. Watson is a Texas native who resides in Houston with her husband and four children. She is an operating room nurse who has evolved into an author of Erotica and New Adult. She grew up reading the Sweet Valley Series (Twins, High, & University) among others. Back then she would use notebook paper to create stories and cut pictures out of her mother’s JC Penney catalogs for the characters she wanted to portray. She ventured away from reading and writing stories when she left home for college to pursue her BSN and then MBA, but picked up reading again in 2012. Her love for the stories written by her favorite indie authors made her decide to pursue own dreams of writing. Her novel Forbidden Attraction (Forbidden Trilogy) is the start of this journey and she looks forward to sharing it with everyone.

When S.R. Watson is not writing, she likes to read, listen to various genres of music, make handmade natural soap, and travel. She is down to earth, loves a nice glass of wine, and is addicted to watching the television series Scandal.
