by Brooks, Sarah J.

Mia’s black hair tumbled across the pillows as she raised both knees upward and dug her heels into the soft mattress. Her fingers teased and pinched her hardened nipple, making her squirm on the bed and moan louder.

A small smile played on her soft lips as the hand in her panties found her black neatly trimmed hair and worked its way to her damp, moist and needy place. Mia bit her bottom lip as a finger discovered her slick wet heat, and she closed her green eyes, imagining Cody’s finger in place of hers.

Her hot, wet sheath was so slippery as ‘Cody’s’ finger slid with ease slowly in and out. God if only it were truly you here now doing this to me ... Mia raised her firm ass from the bed and plunged her finger into her wetness faster and harder, wishing all the time that it was actually Cody’s throbbing hardness that was pounding her.

She moved the hand from her breast down to join the other one with the task of finding her swollen clitoris, which with years of practice wasn’t tricky.

With one finger pounding her tight wetness and another one rubbing her aroused clitoris frantically, it wasn’t long before Mia came with a soul-shattering intensity. She tried in vain not to scream and hoped nobody heard her as wave after wave of ecstasy ran through her slim body.

On shaky legs, she stood up, went to the bathroom and turned the shower on, smiling to herself at the thought of her orgasm while imagining Cody thrusting deep inside her.

She had to pull herself together before tomorrow when she would see him again.

“Thanks Eliza for filling my head with thoughts of Cody being hot!” she mumbled as she pulled her damp bikini panties off and removed her top, letting her pert naked breasts bounce free.

  2. Chapter Two

  Supper was an uneventful hour.

Mia sat with her new found mates, Eliza and Dwayne, and tried not to blush when Cody’s name was mentioned.

She was dressed in skinny jeans, a tight-fitting white T-shirt, and sneakers with her black hair up in a high ponytail. Mia looked more like a teenager than a 24-year-old woman.

“So how’s the story going?” Dwayne asked.

“Slowly!” Mia sighed, sipping her fruit juice. “Trying to pin Cody down to do an interview is friggin impossible.”

“I’d sure like to pin him down; I know that! For an older guy, he’s pretty damn hot,” Eliza said laughing and winking at Mia.

“Jeez girl, you’ve got a one-track mind, and by the way, your boyfriend’s sat literally here,” Dwayne snapped.

“Seriously, I dunno what you see in him, and he’s only 32-years-old, hardly that old!” Mia was desperately trying to play the whole Cody being hot thing down.

“What you don’t see his muscular body or his cool hair or piercing blue eyes?” as Eliza finished her question, Dwayne stood up so abruptly that he nearly pulled the tablecloth and all their supper dishes off the table. He scowled at Eliza and then stormed off.

“A bit of advice girl to girl; don’t speak about another guy like that when your boyfriend’s with you as it won’t go down well.”

“Shit, sometimes my gob opens, and I speak the words without even thinking about it, Mia.” Eliza looked genuinely upset. “I better go after him; look, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

She stood up and chased after Dwayne. Eliza was a very pretty young girl with a short pixie hairstyle, which was dyed a striking platinum pink color. Her face was pierced in multiple places, but the look really suited her, and she pulled it off to perfection.

Dwayne was more conservative in his appearance but still trendy with his roughed up brown hair and his urban fashion sense. Mia hoped they could sort out their differences as they seemed a sweet couple; she felt partly responsible due to her being the reason that Cody was brought up in their conversation tonight.

Left alone at the table, she picked up her cell phone, always handy when you suddenly found yourself on your own. Mia texted her mom. Their relationship was good; actually, her relationship with both her parents was good. She was one of the fortunate ones from her high-school gang, as her parents’ marriage had stayed strong throughout the years, and they’d remained together.

‘Hey Mom just checking in’ Mia texted and waited for her cell to beep, which took less than a few minutes.

‘Hey how’s it going in Banff?’

‘Good. Bit tricky blending in with a gang of teens but it’s all good ☺’

Mia had shown her mom how to text and was proud of her for using the ‘text language’ now. Her dad wanted nothing to do with the age of technology and scoffed at all of it; he didn’t even own a cell phone.

  ‘So any cute guys there?’

That’s it Mom, as always straight to the point

‘No not really and as I keep saying 2 u I’m not looking 4 anyone’

‘Sure you’re not love but that’s the time it could happen and u find someone’

‘Yeah okay Mom whatever. I’m going now as must finish supper’

She signed off, and instantly felt guilty for lying to her mom. Mia had finished supper ages ago, but her mom had a habit of rubbing her up the wrong way. In her mom’s eyes, if Mia was alone, then she was lonely, and it was as black and white as that.

The truth was that although Mia missed the companionship of a guy in her life, and obviously the physical aspect, she didn’t mind her own company. Guys generally irritated her after a while, and normally her dry sense of humor would scare them away; she could be so sarcastic at times, it could be hurtful.

Mia connected her earphones to her cell and listened to Nickelback rocking out some tunes as she made her way back to her room.

She waited for the elevator to arrive and was taken aback when it did and Cody strolled out with a teenage guy at his side. Mia recognized the guy as Shane, one of their gang. He was around 17-years-old with short spiky blond hair and, like Eliza, face piercings galore.

Shane looked awkwardly at the ground when he spotted Mia waiting for the elevator; he scuffed his sneakers along the floor, and Cody simply acknowledged her existence with a small embarrassed-looking smile. Mia just smiled sweetly and continued into the empty elevator.

Why so awkward? They obviously didn’t expect to be seen, but what were they doing so much that they had to hide it? Being a journalist gave Mia an overactive imagination and an inquisitive mind, but all she could come up with was perhaps they were simply discussing tomorrow’s hike. But then why discuss that upstairs in Shane’s room? Something didn’t add up, didn’t feel right.

Whatever was going on was nothing to do with her at the moment; of course, if a story were to be revealed later down the line, then that would be very much to do with her.

Mia pressed the button for the first floor and turned her cell volume up.

She made it to her room, and after sorting her clothes for the morning, she fell into the soft bed exhausted from the day’s activities. Sleep evaded her, though, and at 3 a.m., Mia was sat bolt upright in bed pondering over Cody and Shane once again. She leapt out of bed and made a note of the date and what she’d seen. A good journalist always kept a notebook and pen handy.

Mia soon fell asleep once her mind was at rest that she’d noted down the key facts, just in case they were needed later on.

The next day dawned bright, and once Mia had wrestled with her alarm clock, she crawled out of bed still bleary-eyed from her lack of sleep the night before. After a quick wash, she stepped daintily into a pair of sexy low-rise Chantilly lace panties in a gorgeous peach shade. The front was a mesh design, and Mia’s neatly trimmed black hair could just be seen through the panties.

As she placed her delicate lacy bra over her nipples, she noticed how sensitive they were, but before her mind could begin thinking about Cody in a sexual way again, she hurriedly finished dressing.

A pair of khaki colored Capri pants were her choice for hiking, teamed with a pale green T-shirt, which made her eyes pop, and a strong pair of hiking boots over some thick socks. Yes, it was August, and yes, she’d probably be too hot, but she rememb
ered Cody’s words about the shaded areas of the trail, and she needed a good pair of boots for the hike.

Her long black hair was put up to keep her neck cool. Mia had put it into a messy bun with a few wispy bits of hair left loose around her small face to soften the look. She didn’t wear much makeup but had applied some waterproof mascara, the same as yesterday and a coat of lip salve to her full lips, making them shine seductively.

She popped her thin raincoat and cell in her backpack along with her beloved earphones, notebook, and pen. Tying a gray hoodie around her slim waist, Mia was ready to face the day ahead, and after a final glance in the mirror, she left her room to head downstairs for breakfast.

As soon as she entered the dining room, she spied Eliza waving frantically from the table that they sat at last night for supper, no Dwayne. Mia waved back and then proceeded to fetch her breakfast before joining Eliza.

“Hey, no Dwayne?” she asked a little awkwardly as she sat down opposite Eliza.

“Nope, he’s just getting dressed and said he wasn’t hungry,” Eliza replied, staring intently down at the cereal in the bowl in front of her.

Mia felt uneasy, “Hey, Eliza, look I’m sorry I feel kinda guilty here. It’s my fault Cody even came up in the conversation yesterday.”

Eliza looked up for the first time, and Mia could see that she looked tired and pale. “It’s cool, Mia. Dwayne’s had an issue with Cody since we got here; personally, I think he’s jealous of his money, and then of course I began saying he was hot, and it all kicked off from there.”

“Are you guys gonna be okay?”

“Yeah, we’ll be cool. Dwayne can be jealous at times, but I’ve only got eyes for him Mia, and he knows that.”

Mia smiled at the young girl. She’d grown to like Eliza.

The girls ate the rest of their breakfast in silence and then made their way to the lobby where the others were all waiting for Cody. Mia noticed everyone was dressed in much the same way as her, so that made her feel more comfortable.

She saw Shane standing alone, and as soon as he caught sight of her, his eyes dropped to the floor, and he started to shuffle his feet once again.

There was no time to dwell on the fact that she obviously made him nervous and had no idea why because, right at that moment, Cody walked into the lobby with his arms filled with cold drinks.

“Morning gang, grab a drink, and we’ll head off,” he said as the teenagers began crowding around him. “One at a time, jeez, queue up will you.”

Mia had to snigger as the scene in front of her eyes was really quite funny.

Cody was standing completely surrounded by unruly teenagers pushing and shoving each other to get close to him; it was as though he’d told them he’d got $500 to give away and the first one to reach him got the cash.

“Mia,” he mumbled as he handed her drink to her.

“Cody,” she replied looking up at him. At around 6’2”, he was tall compared to her, and she felt dwarfed by him. There were no other words spoken between them, and Mia went to join Eliza.

“Dwayne over here!” Eliza shouted as her boyfriend joined them all in the lobby.

“Watch stop did it, Dwayne?” Cody asked, making Mia cringe, probably not the best timing in the world Cody as Dwayne’s already pissed at you, mate.

“Something like that,” Dwayne muttered as he took his drink and joined Eliza and Mia.

“Okay, folks, we’ll be heading out in a minute. We’ll be taking a minibus ride heading west from here along the Trans-Canada Highway then on the Bow Valley Parkway for approximately 11 miles. Not a long bus ride. Our hike will be quite easy as we’ll begin on a trail to the lower falls, this mainly travels through the forest and then along catwalks running alongside Johnston Creek. Now, whether we continue to the upper falls depends on how you’re all doing with your fitness levels,” Cody said.

“We’ll all be fine, won’t we guys?” one of the gang shouted out, which was closely followed by a resounding cheer from everyone else.

“Yeah, well we’ll see as the elevation levels will alter considerably on the trail to the upper falls as you make your way up through the forest,” Cody replied. Mia could see he was becoming weary of the way the teenagers weren’t taking the hike seriously, but at the end of the day, they were just that, teenagers.

The bright yellow minibus was waiting for them at the front of the building; Mia cringed at the huge red letters along the side of the bus screaming the words ‘Thrill Seekers.’ There was no way you could hide the fact that you were from the adventure center, that was for sure!

With a heavy heart and a big sigh, Mia climbed aboard the bus. She wasn’t dreading the hike and knew it’d be an easier day than the previous rafting one, but a day out in the wilderness with Cody barking orders didn’t exactly fill her with excitement.

She made her way to the back of the bus and found all the seats taken, what is it with buses? You’re only cool if you sit at the back.

“All full by the looks of it, Mia, you’ll have to sit here,” she heard Cody’s voice shout out, and as she turned around, she saw him pointing to the empty seat beside her at the front of the bus. Mia looked up and caught Eliza’s eye, who winked at her.

“Doesn’t look like I’ve much option does it?” Mia muttered as she plonked down beside Cody.

“Nope, not really, though you can always stand if you’d prefer!”

God, I’d so like to wipe that smug grin from your face!

“Excuse me I’ve got to get up,” Cody said within seconds of Mia sitting down.

He squeezed by with his ass literally inches from Mia’s face; she smiled to herself thinking how much Eliza would love to be in her position right now. Cody’s foot slipped, and he momentarily fell backward and ended up sitting on Mia’s lap.

“Shit sorry!” he whispered, obviously embarrassed by the whole situation. So Mr. I’m so arrogant and cocky has a shyer side then? Mia felt as though she’d literally stumbled across a piece of priceless treasure with this information. Had she just found her secret weapon? As a journalist, she soon learnt that everyone had a weakness, and this weakness usually granted you access to a story if used correctly.

She could use Cody’s shyness very much to her advantage.

A muscular athletically built guy standing at 6’2” being shy was a rare find indeed, and one Mia was prepared to grasp firmly with both hands.

She smiled cheekily to herself as at the exact moment she was thinking about grasping his shyness firmly with both hands, Cody raised himself up from her lap and carried on by with his tight buttocks once again in front of her face.

Damn you Eliza and all your sexual thoughts of Cody. Mind you, Mia had to admit that as arrogant as he might be, Cody was indeed a sexy guy. She wondered what type of woman he’d go for, obviously an outdoor type but would she be a blonde, redhead or perhaps a black haired beauty like herself?

“Shout out when I say your name guys,” Cody said, once he’d gained his composure while standing in the aisle.

The adventure group was very keen on taking a register twice over when they were out on trips, once when they left the center and again upon leaving wherever they were to return to the center. This coupled with all their head counts ensured nobody was ever lost. Mia thought it was a bit over the top really, but then again the center, well Cody primarily, as it was his center, were responsible for the teens that stayed with them.

Mia scooted over to pinch the window seat from Cody as it made it a lot easier for him to have the aisle seat anyhow.

“Cheers!” he said as he sat down next to her.

Mia waited for the cocky comment regarding her pinching his seat, but it never arrived: for once, Cody was courteous without being arrogant.

  3. Chapter Three

It was a beautiful drive along the Trans-Canada Highway with stunning scenery. Mia’s work was mainly based in and around the province of British Columbia; she had no reason to be in the province of Alberta. She’d v
isited the Rockies once or twice before but was always wary of the wildlife; generally, the bears would avoid people, but incidents had happened, and people had been injured or even killed.

“Not long now gang!” Cody yelled back up the bus.

The teenagers cheered loudly, and Cody chuckled; he really was showing her a different side at the moment. It confused her slightly, but she liked this kinder, more fun-loving side of him, it made him more human.

Her heart kept skipping beats, and the kaleidoscope of butterflies in her tummy fluttered each time he moved beside her. She’d never experienced this with him before and felt suddenly quite alarmed by the intensity of her thoughts. Was she actually falling for him?

Cody’s leg brushed against hers as he shifted in his seat.

“Oops, sorry!” he whispered. “These seats aren’t exactly made for anyone bigger than an ant!”

Mia giggled and fiddled nervously with one of the wispy strands of black hair around her face.

“You have a nice laugh—you should let it be heard more often,” he said. Where was the arrogance? Mia was accustomed to the arrogance; she could handle that, but this new softer side was tricky for her, it was bemusing.

“Cody, Alice’s going to throw-up mate,” a young guy’s voice shouted from the back of the bus, totally ruining Mia’s magical moment.

“Shit, okay, I’m on my way,” Cody leapt up grabbing the sick bag from under his seat, which they all had. Should Mia offer to help or should she stay in her seat and not get in the way? She decided on the second option and remained seated.

Minutes later, Cody raced by, heading toward the driver, Mia watched him as he spoke to the driver. Cody was wearing a pair of dark denim blue jeans, neither a skinny fit or loose, just a straight leg cut. He wore dark brown hiking boots and an orange and black checkered shirt tucked into his jeans, which was unbuttoned just enough to reveal some of his smooth chest. It was a long-sleeved cotton shirt, and the sleeves were clinging to his bulging biceps as he positioned a hand on the back of the driver’s seat.
