I quietly laugh.
“So tell me, beautiful girl...” he says, bringing his hand to my neck and splaying his fingers over my jawline as my eyes absorb every bit of him.
“Are you ready to be my wife?”
The words float between us for a few moments as our eyes and hearts talk to each other. My mind screams the answer a thousand times.
He leans to me and kisses me softly, his arm tightening around me and pulling me into him.
I melt in his embrace.
“Thank you for giving me the answer,” he murmurs against my lips. “You are mine now,” he quietly says as the wind chimes start dancing in the night.
Wrapping us in their sweet sound.
“You knew this would be the end for us, didn’t you?” I ask, getting lost in his eyes.
His lips curve into a soft smile.
“You were always mine even back then when you spent your nights in that little room of yours, spinning thoughts and words, fidgeting in your chair, restless. I knew what you were missing. I had been missing it too.”
My fingers softly brush his chest.
“I was restless because I was waiting for you. And that’s why I was daydreaming about you even before I met you.”
He lowers his mouth to mine.
“I know,” he breathes into me. “I saw you in my dreams as well,” he mutters.
And then our lips connect, and the world spins away as the wind chimes dance and clink and sing again, swinging in the autumn breeze.
