“I think so.” Blake nodded. He broke his gaze from mine and gave equally hard stares to Connor, Emily, and Bella.
“Mrs. Hartford spoke of making friends,” Mr. Steinberg said. “I’m sure you’ll find a nice group right here in this room.” There were no empty desks, so he pulled a chair from the side of the room. “Until we get you a desk of your own, you can sit with Nate. I think the two of you will get along really well. Nate can introduce you to Connor, Emily, and Bella.”
“Thank you, Mr. Steinberg.” Blake grinned as he took a seat next to me.
I leaned back in my chair and tried ignore the way Blake was staring at me.
We’d destroyed the journal, and yet, we’d come to the Scaremaster’s ending after all.
Blake and his friends lived happily ever after.
