Intrigue at Haven's Crossing Page 13

by Kyleigh Drake

Kim had a smile on her face, so that made her feel a little better at least. Master Kip gave Blake a microphone so everyone could hear what he was about to say. Before he turned it on, though, he looked down at Myka and said, “I need you to kneel, sweetheart.” Her first thought was to ask him right here in front of everyone? but she decided to do as she was told. She knelt down before Blake, and then she looked down as he had taught her to do. She stayed like that for at least five minutes and couldn’t see what Blake was doing, because she couldn’t look up.

The microphone was now on. There was silence in the room, except for Blake’s voice. “Myka, look at me,” he said. She raised her head and looked into his eyes, still unsure of what was happening. He looked into her eyes for several seconds before speaking, and when he did, he was speaking only to her. It was like no one else was in the room. “You have intrigued me from the very beginning, Myka, and my life has not been the same since I met you. It wasn’t long before I knew I had fallen in love with you and knew that I wanted you as my own—forever. You have made my life complete, and from this moment on, I will never ever let you go.” He reached out and took something from Master Kip. “I am giving you this collar tonight to symbolize our bond and to ensure that everyone knows—you are mine and mine alone.”

Myka looked at him, in awe of the words he had just spoken. The collar he held before her was breathtaking. It was an infinity-style necklace made of light-blue rectangle links connected by little, dark blue rings with a heart-shaped padlock made of white gold in front. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen in her life, and she couldn’t wait for him to put it on her. As he fastened it around her neck, she whispered in his ear, “May I speak?”

He nodded his head and held the microphone so she could speak into it. When she looked into his eyes, a tear ran down her face. She was so overcome with emotion that it took her a moment before she could actually say the words. “You have allowed me to be a part of your life and taught me about the world you live in. You have shown me how to trust and to believe—not only in you, but in myself as well. I vow to you that my life is yours and I belong to no other. You are the Master of my heart and my soul, and I will wear your collar with honor and joy.” The tears were streaming down her face by the time she had finished because the words she spoke to him were truer than any words she had ever spoken to anyone else in her life.

The crowd erupted in shouts and applause that lasted several minutes. Blake held out his hand to help her stand up and then held her close, kissing her fully on the lips. Her legs were weak when he finally broke away from her and rubbed her bottom lip with his thumb. He looked out at the crowd and raised his hand, causing silence to fall over the room. He then knelt down in front of Myka on one knee and looked up at her. She started to kneel as well, until he shook his head at her and smiled. “I have never loved a woman as much as I love you, Myka Lambert. I kneel before you now, not only to proclaim my love for you, but to ask if you would do me the honor of being my wife forever and always.”

Myka began to cry again as he took out the diamond ring, but he didn’t put it on until she nodded and said through her tears, “Yes, Blake Lawson. I will marry you.”

With her answer given, cheers and shouts again erupted throughout Intrigue. Blake stood and kissed her so deeply that it touched her soul.

He then looked down into her eyes and whispered, “I love you, princess.”

She smiled up at him through her lashes, knowing that all was perfect in this one moment in time, and said, “I love you, too, Master.”
