Mercy's Battle (Mercy Ashby Book 3)

He ignores me as he lifts my shirt up to examine the gash on my side. He breathes a sigh of relief, making me frown. What? Did he seriously think I’d be gutted that easily?
“That was stupid,” he snaps, glancing up to meet my eyes. “Next time, just fucking listen for once in your life.”
“What is the big deal?” I snap back. “I’m fine. They’re just flesh wounds. I’ll heal in three hours, at most.”
“The big deal is that you’re fucking pregnant, Mercy!” He shouts.
My mouth drops as I gape at him. “Uh, what?” I ask, sure I heard him wrong. He had to be wrong. There’s no way. . .
Talon rubs his hands over his face. “You’re pregnant.”
I look at the others and see similar looks of shock on their faces before turning back to Talon. “How the hell could you possibly know that?”
Talon snorts as he runs his eyes over my face, his expression softening a little bit. “It’s in your scent. It’s a subtle difference, but it’s there.”
I shake my head. “No,” I say slowly, “there isn’t a difference to my scent at all.”
“Your scent changed after we brought you back, you smell like a mixture of all of us. Earlier tonight, I noticed that your scent changed again.” He runs his eyes over me before he places his palm against my stomach. “There is no mistaking the scent of a pregnant shifter, Mercy.”
“B-but I’m not a shifter!”
“You weren’t. You’re part shifter now.”
I take a shaking breath before looking back at the others. Their faces are still shocked, but there’s something else on all their faces too. They’re happy. My heart races as the words Talon is saying finally sink in.
I’m fucking pregnant.

Acknowledgements
First and foremost, my family, mainly my kids and my husband. Thank you for being there for me while I stressed about how the book was going and if I would be able to produce a good enough book.
My beautiful girls, even though you’re included in the first I had to add another spot just for you three. You guys have to deal with a spacey, busy mama, and I love that I’m able to sit down and cuddle with you guys while I write. It’s my favorite time of day when you all crowd around me for some snuggles while I work.
Aspen Winters, my coauthor, my friend. You’re one of the best people to have around and to have on my side and I couldn’t be prouder to have you as a friend.
Amanda Perrie, the seriously best PA a girl could ever ask for. Thank you for helping me with keeping my schedule straight and trying your best to help me through whatever I’m going through so that I can have the strength to keep moving forward. You go above and beyond and I’m beyond thankful that I have you in my life and have met you. Best day ever! I can’t wait to actually meet you in person.
Amanda’s other clients that she PA’s for, I love you all and I’m so happy that we’re such a close knit group. I couldn’t imagine my life without all of our conversations not having you guys at my back and I can’t wait to meet you all!
To my girls in the Uterus Demon Slayers, you guys slay me daily. The shit we talk about half the time should never be repeated but you guys have my back just as I have yours and I love you guys for it. If we all lived on the same continent I’d say we all need to get together, but that may not happen for years to come haha.
My beta’s, you guys save my life every book I write. Thank you.
My Hussies! I love you all so much and I couldn’t ask for better readers and the support you all show for my work. Thank you
