The men in the room watched me carefully, the same smarmy smirk on all of their faces. I didn’t want to give Buck the satisfaction, but I knew that step one was getting Roxy back safe and sound. Nothing else mattered.

“Fine,” I said, taking a deep breath. “You’re my new boss, Buck. And whatever you say goes. I am but a humble employee.”

  Buck nodded approvingly.

“Nice little touch on the end—I like it! See, Zaney, you’re gonna learn how nice it’ll be to have ol’ Buck in charge. I’m gonna treat you and the rest of your crew real nice, maybe even let this sweet thing of yours work behind the bar. I hear that little body of hers really brings in the tips. Maybe she’ll bring in even more in a miniskirt and a tube top, huh?”

  The men laughed.

“But I’m not doing a damn thing unless you let her go,” I said.

“Fine, fine,” said Buck. “I guess if you’re gonna play ball then I can too.”

With that, he ripped the tape off Roxy’s mouth before slipping the knife between her hands and cutting the bindings. Roxy burst out of her seat and ran towards me, throwing her arms around me as soon as she got close.

“You okay?” I asked, my eyes on the knife pinprick on her neck.

“Yeah,” she said. “He didn’t do anything to me. Yet.”

Then her expression turned very serious.

“Zane, you can’t do it,” she said. “You can’t let Buck win. Please, think about what you’re agreeing to.”

  I shook my head.

“No negotiations,” I said. “He got to you and threatened your life and the life of the baby. Buck won. I’m not going to keep fighting with him if that means your life is going to be in danger. I won’t risk it.”

The expression on Roxy’s face made it clear that while she understood, she didn’t like it.

“Buck won,” said Buck as he shoved the knife back into his belt. “Now, if those aren’t the sweet words I’ve heard in a good long while, I don’t know what would be.”

“I’m ready to be done with this,” I told Roxy. “We can both be safe, just like that.”

“Never thought I’d hear little Zaney talking so much sense, but I’m not about to look a gift horse in the mouth,” said Buck. “Now, you two can feel free to get the fuck out of here at any time. I’ll be in touch with the details of our little business transaction.”

Then, right on cue, a beeping sounded from my phone. I narrowed my eyes at Roxy.

“What the hell is that?” asked Buck. “What’s that fucking noise mean?”

“Roxy,” I said, staring deep into her eyes. “Stay close to me, no matter what.”

  “Wha—”

That was all she managed to get out before all hell broke loose.

A series of massive explosions sounded, the doors of the warehouse blasting off their hinges and flying into the open space. The men in the area had a moment to react, but it wasn’t enough to respond to what happened next.

A dozen and a half Marauders stormed the warehouse, guns drawn. They split up upon entering, all of them finding one of Buck’s men and pressing a gun to his head.

“What the fuck is going on here?” shouted Buck, his expression wild with anger.

  “Do it!” I shouted.

With that, the Marauders did their thing. With expert precision, they began taking out Buck’s men, downing them non-lethally with smacks of guns to the backs of their heads and punches to the gut. The place broke out into a wild melee as the Marauders and Buck’s men battled, occasional gunshots breaking out here and there.

Buck pulled out his knife and prepared to fight. But I wasn’t going to stick around, not with Roxy at my side.

“Get her out of here, Z!” shouted Motor, “we got this!”

I wasn’t too keen on letting the boys take the brunt of the fighting, but getting Roxy out of here was priority number one. I held her close and shielded her with my body, rushing out of the warehouse and back onto the city streets.

Once outside in the cool evening air, the sounds of the commotion inside became soft, muffled sounds. I looked over Roxy once again, making sure that she hadn’t been hurt as we ran through the melee.

“Are you okay?” she asked, her tone one of total concern.

  “I’m fine,” I said.

Across the street was a hotel. I pointed to it and spoke. “Get in there now, get a room, and don’t come out for anything. Got it?”

Roxy looked hesitant for a moment, and I could tell that she wasn’t feeling good about the idea of leaving me on my own to fight Buck. But she knew that there was nothing she could do. Roxy pulled me in for a hard kiss.

“Come back in one piece, please?” she said, tears in her eyes.

I nodded and she was off. I stayed on the street only long enough to make sure Roxy got into the hotel without any problems. Once she was safely inside, I turned on my boots and ran back into the warehouse.

The scene was one of total chaos. Fists flew through the air, gunshots rang out, and the sound of bodies slamming into one another filled the air. There had to have been around forty men in total fighting it out.

But there was only one that I wanted.

I made my way through the battle, fighting off Buck’s men as I had to. Reaching the middle of the warehouse, I spotted Buck, standing on the table, knife in hand, directing his men like some kind of leather-clad general.

  “Buck!” I shouted.

That got his attention. Buck turned his eyes to me, his expression murderous. He leaped from the table and pointed the knife at me.

“You’re dead, you fuck!” he shouted before breaking out into a full sprint and rushing towards me.

Buck cut through the air with his knife, bringing the blade down in a tight arc. I barely managed to dodge the attack, and a hot sting on my arm made me realize that he’d nicked me just a bit. Then Buck flipped the blade in his hand and raised it up in the air. He brought the handle down onto my shoulder, the muscle crying out in pain as soon as he made contact.

I staggered backward, my hand on my shoulder. A wild grin formed on Buck’s mouth—he saw that he’d done some damage, and he was ready to do more.

But I wasn’t going to let him. Buck flipped the knife back to blade-out and moved in for the kill. He stabbed into the air like a pirate with a rapier. I barely managed to move out of the way, but once I did I saw that Buck had put all of his weight into his stab and was now totally off-balance. I took advantage of the situation and threw a hard jab right into his jaw.

The punch connected perfectly, and I felt the sickening break of something under my fist, likely one of Buck’s teeth getting knocked loose. Sure enough, as Buck staggered to balance himself I watched as he spit a wad of blood onto the concrete floor of the warehouse, a gnarled yellow tooth in it.

“Fuck this!” he shouted. “Kill them! I’ll be back!”

With that, Buck turned tail and ran. His men watched him go, hollow looks on their faces as he ran out of the warehouse. The Marauders had been kicking ass far, but Buck’s crew seeing their leader turn tail and run was the morale hit that they just couldn’t take. I could see the fight leave Buck’s men at that moment, and I knew my men would have no trouble finishing things up.

But I couldn’t let Buck get away. Not after everything he’d put me through.

I shot a look to Rex and Motor, one that made it clear that I was going after Buck. They nodded in response before turning their attention back to the rest of the men. My legs pumping underneath me, I hurried after Buck, getting outside just in time to see him scramble onto his bike and take off down the road.

My ride was roughed up, but I was sure the old girl had more than enough in her to chase down that fucker. Hopping onto my bike, I gunned the engine and was off. Buck had managed to get put some distance between him and me, but I gained quickly enough that I was soon right on top of him.

Buck looked back at me with a wild expres
sion, one that was a perfect blend of panic and anger. It didn’t last long. I pulled my bike hard into his, the grinding noise of chrome on chrome cutting through the air over the growl of the engines. Buck’s bike wobbled wildly, and I could see that he wasn’t going to be able to get it back under control. His tires squealed against the road and I pulled back just in time to watch his bike careen into a dumpster on the side of the road.

A deafening crash sounded and Buck went flying, hitting the side of the building ahead of him. I didn’t even want to think about what it must’ve felt like.

I slowed my bike down and came to a stop. With a quick hop I was off the thing and on my feet. I kept my guard up as I approached Buck—even wrecked as he was, it was still hard to know just what he was capable of.

As I approached, I saw that the man was a fucking mess. His clothes were ripped and torn, gashes covered his body, and part of his cheek was ground down to wet-looking red.

“Fuck … fuck you,” he wheezed out as I approached.

Then, with the last bit of strength he had, Buck reached behind him and withdrew a gun that he’d had tucked into his belt. He leveled the pistol at me and cracked off a shot that I barely had time to dodge.

I’d been ready to show a little mercy, but that cut it. I dove forwards onto Buck and easily wrestled the gun out of his hand. Then I placed it against his chest and fired twice, his eyes going wide with the impacts.

One last breath escaped his mouth, and he was dead.

  It was finally over.

The battle was over. When I returned to the warehouse and stepped inside, I was greeted with the sight of the Marauders lording over the place like kings. Buck’s men had all been subdued, and the place was ours. We’d loot the joint later, and take whatever gear and sellable goods we could find, but for now we needed to put a nice little bow on what we’d done.

“Buck’s dead,” I called out, the attention of every man in the room on me. “Something to think about if any of you assholes are still thinking about trying anything.”

I paced the room slowly, my hands behind my back. I could tell by the expressions on the Buck’s men’s faces that whatever fight they still had left in them vanished as soon as I’d spoken the words.

“We’re gonna keep you all here for the day, just to make sure you don’t get any big ideas about trying any shit. And if you’re all good boys and help us get this place back in order so my men can finish taking it over, we’ll let you go. Got it?”

They nodded their heads slowly. I called Rex.

“Buck’s body’s a few blocks down the way. We’re gonna need it taken care of.”

  “Got it,” said Rex.

“Motor, you’re in charge of this operation. I got a pregnant woman to take care of.”

“Sure thing, Zane,” he said, an eager smile on his face.

He leapt up onto the table in the middle room and began barking out orders at Buck’s men. I took one last look over the place, knowing that I could count on my men to get things taken care of.

Without wasting another moment I rushed out of the warehouse and across the street to the hotel. The man at the front desk looked at me with a wide-eyed expression, and I realized that I probably looked like warmed-over shit.

“Girl just checked in,” I said. “Name’s Roxy.”

“Yes,” he said, turning his attention down to his computer. “She said she’d have a visitor. Room 340.”

I thanked him as he handed me the room keycard and I took off without another word. Minutes later I was bursting through the door of Roxy’s room, my heart pounding at the small chance of something having happened to her while I was dealing with the other matters.

But, thank God, there she was, sitting on the bed with a nervous expression on her face. Her eyes latched onto me as I arrived, and she jumped up from the bed and threw her arms around me.

“You’re okay!” she shouted, pressing her face into my chest. Then she let me go, took a step back, and looked me over. “And … you look like total shit.”

I stepped in front of the full-length mirror in the room and nearly burst out laughing when I took a look at myself. My clothes were scuffed and torn, my right forearm was covered with blood, and my face looked like someone had hit it with a bag of hammers. And now that the adrenaline was leaving my body, I began to ache with the pain of the punches I’d taken.

“Get out of those clothes,” she said. “You need a damn bath.”

“That … actually sounds pretty nice,” I said.

“That’s why I said you need one,” she said with a smile. “Now do it.”

With that, she ducked into the bathroom and turned on the tub. I slipped out of my clothes, my body aching as I bent over to take off my boots and socks. Soon, I was buck-ass naked and ready for my soak.

“Ready!” shouted Roxy from the bathroom.

I stepped in to see a suds-filled tub waiting for me. Dipping in my toe, I was pleased to see that the water was nice and hot. I gingerly lowered the rest of my body into the water, the heat feeling so good on my muscles that I could barely stand it.

“Now, doesn’t that feel better?” she said.

“Oh maaan,” I said, the water chest-high. “I feel like I’m gonna melt into a puddle.”

“Don’t do that,” said Roxy. “Might be hard to find you then.”

I sloshed around in the water for a while, letting the heat relax my muscles. After a time, Roxy grabbed a washcloth, soaked it in the water, and started to work on my injuries.

“Damn,” she said. “You really took a beating.”

“Crazy thing is I didn’t even feel it,” I said. “Buck got me with his knife, but the rest must’ve just been hits that I didn’t even notice.”

“Such a tough guy,” she said. Then Roxy looked away pensively. “Um, what about Buck?”

“We won’t have to worry about him ever again,” I said quickly.

Roxy nodded and went back to work. Soon she had all of the worst parts of my injuries cleaned up, and I was looking like a new man—for the most part.

“So …” she said, moving the washcloth further down, under the water. “You think there’s enough room in this tub for two?”

I smirked. “I think we can make it work.”

Roxy stood up and began slowly, sensually, stripping off her clothes. By the time she was down to just her bra and panties, my cock was already poking up through the water.

“I see part of you’s still in good shape,” she said, her eyes on my prick.

  “Always,” I said.

She stripped off her underwear and stepped into the tub. Roxy moved her body close to mine and kissed me gently on the lips.

“I love you,” she said. “So goddamn much.”

“And I love you too,” I said. “I’ll never let anything happen to you and our baby, no matter what.”

Her eyes now glistening with tears, Roxy nodded. Then her hand slipped under the water again, this time taking hold of my cock. I let out a long groan as she wrapped her fingers around my length and began stroking me slowly, the suds of the water lingering on my head.

“I hope you don’t mind if I get right to it,” she said. “Something about not knowing if I was going to see you again made me want you even more than I thought was possible.”

I said nothing, instead bringing her close and planting a hard kiss on her full, ripe lips. Then she backed off, a sexy little smile on her face. Roxy straddled me, positioning her body so that my erect cock was right in front of her. I took in the sight of her gorgeous body dripping wet, the suds hanging off her curves, her nipples hard.

She took my cock with one hand, lifted herself up, and lowered her body onto it. I entered her inch by inch, an expression of total bliss breaking out across her face as she impaled herself on my long, hard cock.

“Goddamn,” she moaned. “I don’t think I could ever get tired of this cock.”

  “I hope not,
I said with a smirk. “It’s the only one I got.”

She returned my smile as she leaned forward, resting her hands on my soapy chest. Then she began to rock back and forth, taking my cock into her again and again. The pleasure was so intense straight away that I worried I might not be able to last even a minute. But Roxy and I soon found our usual rhythm.

The sight of her on top of me was like nothing else. Her breasts bounced wildly as she rode me, and I couldn’t resist the urge to reach up and take hold of them, kneading her nipples gently with my fingertips.
