“It needs a wash,” I said. I’d slept in it the night before. And I’d worn it to sleep and to his mother’s house the day before that.

  “C’mon…just for a bit.”

I crawled backwards and then got off the bed at the foot. I fetched it from the suitcase, climbing back on top of him. I put it on. It didn’t smell funky, thankfully. His hands went to my hips.

I leaned over and kissed his eye, which looked a little bit sore and bruised, and then I ran my hand up his side where he had that long scratch, reached down and kissed it. And then he had my face in his hands and brought my lips to his. His tongue chased mine and he groaned.

“Fuck, you’re sweet,” he told me, and I smiled against his lips.

I drove my fingers into his hair and I rubbed my crotch along his shaft. He sat up, me straddling him, and yanked the sweater and tank top up to rest over top of my boobs. His mouth moved in and he licked a nipple.

I got lost in that for a second, my head rolling back. But then I pushed him to his back and yanked the panties to the side and guided him to my entrance. I moved slowly, letting him ever-so-slowly sink inside.

He gripped my hips and watched as my body sheathed him.

His eyes were ablaze. I’d bet mine were, too.

His hand moved away from my hip and his thumb slid past the elastic of the panties to my clit.

“No,” I grabbed his hand and put it back to my hip. “This time, it’s all about you,” I said.

His lips parted, and his eyes were ablaze.

And I gyrated slow, tightening on the inside, making it all about him. Watching his reactions to see what he liked. Loving the look on his face, the way his lips were parted and how his chest rose and fell as he watched me, as he felt what I was doing. And liked it. I slid my hands up his torso as I kept rocking and swaying my hips, and toyed with his nipples, his nipple ring. I started kissing his throat. I sucked, and he groaned. I tightened my inner walls and he groaned again.

I was getting so turned on by seeing the effect I was having with what I was doing to him.

“You markin’ me as yours?” he asked, huskily, his pelvis moving in time with opposite gyrations, his hands tightening on my hips.

“Mm.” I released his neck, seeing a bright red mark where I’d sucked. “Is that what you’ve been doing to me? Hickeys and teeth marks, sweatshirts with your name on them?”

“Mm hm. Never wanted to do that before.”

  “No?” I asked.

“Uh uh. Can’t even tell you how I felt seeing my name on your back. Fuck, baby. Want my name on everything you own.”

  Wow.

“Tell me what you want, how I can please you…” I invited, goosebumps all over me.

“Deeper, but slow, baby. Nice ‘n slow. Squeeze my cock with your pussy again.” He moved my hips with strong slow movements, showing me what he wanted.

And it felt so good, I made a whimper noise, feeling like I might come. I had to not come, I wanted this to be about him. As I did Kegels with him inside me, I got close, dangerously close.

I slowed a little, so I could stop my body from doing what it wanted to do, and he flipped me over onto my belly and took over.

  “Hey,” I said, “Wait…”

He gave my neck a hot, wet long kiss, and then grabbed my hips.

“Wanna see the back of this shirt while I take you.”

  “Rider...” I breathed.

“Gonna come with you,” he said. “Let go, gorgeous.”

“I---“I shook my head. I was trying to find the words to protest.

“Come for me,” he ordered, “I want you to. Let go. Don’t hold back with me. Ever.”

“I hold back with everyone,” I admitted.

“Give me time. We’ll get you there,” he said softly.

His fingers moved fast, cupping me, rubbing my clit. His pelvis moved fast. The shudders started. My legs were trembling.

“Gonna take you hard,” he told me, and holy cow, I got wetter.

I was flipped, and the shirt whipped off my head and tossed, then the tank top. His mouth was on mine and I felt it hit. It hit so hard I thought I was splitting in two.

“Riderrrrrr…” I breathed out as I let myself be split wide open.

“Baby…” he groaned as he spilled inside of me while my body bucked against my will.

And then he rolled us, so I was on top of him. I shifted half off and kept my head against his chest. His heart was beating in double-time. And it was a beautiful sound.

I closed my eyes, snuggled in, and fell asleep listening to it as it went back to that steady beating.

I jolted out of my slumber a few minutes later when he flipped me and put his head to my chest.

“Thanks, gorgeous,” he said, and kissed me on my lips, then kissed each of my nipples, then put his head back to my heart.

I ran my fingers through his hair in answer, as he used my chest like a pillow, until my hand flopped when I gave in to sleep.

When I woke up, I was alone.

I reached for my silenced phone to check the time and there were two missed calls from my Dad. It was 8:33. Where was Rider?

I got up and went to the bathroom.

When I got back, he still wasn’t here, so I decided to listen to my voicemails.

There were a few more angry voicemails from my mother from before I’d spoken to her, so I erased them. And then I got two voicemails from my Dad.

“Jenna, call me, please.” Was the first one.

The second one was a longer one. And it had been left a half hour before.

“We’ve seen the news and … call us as soon as possible. Your mother is out of her mind with worry, as am I. I need to leave for Nevada for a business trip. Please call me as soon as you can, so I’ll know you’re all right.”

I called him back immediately, feeling guilty. They’d seen the news; Jet’s murder would’ve been on the news!

My father answered on the first ring.

  “Jenna,” he breathed.

“Sorry, Dad. I didn’t mean to make you guys worry!” I said quickly.

  He took a big breath.

“What are they saying on the news?” I asked, figuring that might be a good way to approach things, rather than answering blindly.

“A thirty-year-old woman was found murdered at the gates of Dominion Moving and Storage in Sioux Falls yesterday. The news didn’t identify her, but went on to talk about how the location isn’t just the moving and storage company, that it’s also the headquarters for the Dominion Brotherhood Motorcycle Club. Where are you, Jenna?”

“I’m … uh… at that same Dominion Moving and Storage location,” I said.

“Excuse me?” My father’s voice went hard.

“I’m safe, inside the gates. The place is locked down like a fortress. I wasn’t here when Jet was found. And she was hurt elsewhere and dropped here. I’m safe, Dad.”

“And what is it you’re doing there?”

“Well…” I swallowed. Shit. I really should’ve gotten myself caffeinated before this conversation. And thought about how I’d handle this conversation.

The bedroom door opened, and Rider was coming in, wearing a blue t-shirt and faded blue jeans with his black motorcycle boots. Gray wool beanie on his head. Smiling. A black coffee mug with the MC’s logo on it in his hand. He jerked his chin up when he saw me on the phone. I was chewing my lip, a look of uncertainty on my face.

He passed me the cup of coffee.

  “Jenna?” Dad pushed.

“Thank you,” I mouthed. He leaned over and kissed my lips just briefly. “Morning, gorgeous.” He didn’t mouth that, so I winced.

  “Who was that?” Dad asked.

“Well Dad, that was Rider. My new … boyfriend.”

Rider’s lips turned up slightly. His eyes sparkled.

“And he has you there, why? Your mother said he wouldn’t give a straight answer, said something about your safety, and then we see the news, and Jenna,
we saw it last night, so it was a long night here and you didn’t answer your cell phone.”

I winced. Rider gave me a questioning chin jerk.

  “Help?” I mouthed.

“Put it on speaker,” Rider commanded.

I did, wincing and feeling panicky.

“I put you on hands-free, Dad.”

  “Mr. Murdoch?” Rider asked.

Just like that. I mouthed help and he helped. I could fall in love with this man.

  “Yes?”

“Dad saw the news,” I said quickly, “Jet’s murder was on the news and they were worried about me. All night.” I made a face of horror.

“Mr. Murdoch, my apologies,” Rider said, putting a hand on my back and rubbing it, soothingly. “We have had some difficulties with a rival club and they’ve gotten violent. Jenna’s safe and will continue to be safe.”

“Well, Rider, since we’ve never met, you can imagine how I felt hearing the news after Jenna’s mother told me that Jenna was with a Dominion Brotherhood member who spoke of her being in danger, up in the same city as a murder that appeared to be connected to the Dominion Brotherhood.”

  “I’m so sorry, Dad. I didn’t think,” I said.

“No, it doesn’t seem like you did,” my father said, sharply.

Rider’s body jerked back and then his eyes were angry.

“Sir, Jenna’s under 24-hour guard. She and others who are deemed at risk are all safe and will continue to be safe. I’ll give you my number so that you can check-in direct with me any time.”

“Rider, no offense, but nothing you’ve said has made me feel any less concerned.”

“Well, sir, would it help if I put you in touch with the lead investigator on the murder? I’ll get you his contact details. Our club is working closely with the police not only to get whoever did this behind bars, but also to ensure that no one else gets hurt. The rival club threatened my sister and Jenna directly and this was why I put her under protection.”

The phone was silent a moment.

“I see. All right,” Dad said, finally.

“I’ll send you my contact details and I’ll get you the name of the homicide detective. I’m happy to check in daily until this is over, should that put you more at ease.”

“That’d be good, son. You need my help making anything happen with the authorities, you let me know and I’m happy to wade in.”

I was staring at my phone. My mouth had dropped open.

Son? And offering his assistance? To a motorcycle club? My dad had met two men I’d dated and had been indifferent to them both.

  Son?

“Dad, I’m sorry,” I said. “I’m good. I told Mom that the salon is in good hands and---”

“Don’t worry about it, sweetheart. Glad you called. Now, I’ve gotta head to the airport or I’ll miss my flight, so I’ll watch for those texts. You need anything done for the salon before you get back, let me know.”

  “Uh, okay,” I said.

“You’ll have texts in a few, sir.” Rider said.

“Right. Paul; call me Paul. And Rider?” Dad asked.

  “Yes, sir?”

  “Take good care of her.”

“You have my word. Myself, my family, and my club are all keeping her safe.”

“Thank you. Bye for now. Bye, honey. Love you.” His voice changed when he started addressing me.

“Uh… love you, too, Dad. Have a safe trip.”

Wow. He didn’t throw I love yous my way, too often. A lump formed in my throat.

“Bye,” Rider said and disconnected the call and gave me a look.

  I was wincing.

  “I didn’t think,” I defended.

  “What’s this?”

“I checked my voicemail and he was worried. They were up all night worrying after seeing the news, and I just dialed out of reflex. I didn’t even think about how I’d have to answer questions. I should’ve known. My Dad never fails to watch the eleven o’clock news.”

“It’s good they’re in the loop.”

“Um, maybe not. Dad was being cool and all, surprisingly cool, that was probably my first ‘Love you’ from him this millennium. But not sure your assurances will help with my Mom.”

“Don’t worry about it. I’ll keep him in the loop. He can deal with her. You wanna come out and get some breakfast? Some of the women put on a big spread.”

I nodded, feeling a relief I’d never felt before, having someone take my back like this, shielding me from stress with my parents. Could I get used to this? Emotion surged through me.

“Your eye looks a bit sore. But, I thought it’d be worse,” I said.

“You should see the other guy,” he said, with a chuckle.

“Eesh. Have you talked to him?”

“Yeah. He’s acting like nothing happened. Hopin’ I got through.”

“Well, I think you made your point.”

“Been a long time since I decked him. Hopefully it makes him realize how far gone he’s been. I’ve usually got a lot of tolerance for his shit. But, he messed with Jojo and he was messin’ with you and that was not on. Especially not on a day like yesterday.”

“My hero.” I leaned over and puckered my lips. He leaned down to kiss me.

  “Sleep okay?” he asked.

“I slept great,” I told him, sipping my coffee. “You?”

“Yeah, me too. Loved waking up to you curled into me. The cute little snorin’ thing you do.”

  “The what?”

He snickered. “It wasn’t loud. It was kinda cute.”

  “I don’t snore!”

His eyes sparkled with mischief. “I’ll record it tonight.”

“Don’t do that.” I put my hand up.

“How else do I prove it?”

“You don’t. You go on thinking it’s cute, but you don’t mention it ever again, you do not record it, and you never ever tell a soul about it.”

He moved in and kissed me breathless. I went weak in the knees, even though he quickly got me vertical.

“So, what’s on for today?” I asked, what felt like fifteen minutes later, my lips sort of swollen and tingly, my knees wobbly.

“Today, we work more on takin’ those fuckers down.”

  “Oh?” I asked.

“Yeah. You and Joelle’ll hang out here and stay safe. We have a billiards room, a TV room. A gym. Between all that, you two should be able to keep busy.”

Fear lanced through me. What if he didn’t stay safe?

  “What are you gonna do?”

“Nothin’ for you to worry about,” he said.

  I raised my eyebrows.

“No offence, gorgeous, but you want plausible deniability.”

  “Yikes. That sounds like…”

“Like we’re going on the offence, yeah. We don’t lay back and take this shit. They broke a cease-fire. Their name is mud. They killed one of our women, ripped a prospect’s ass open, murdered another brother, put my sister in the hospital, took Ella, the list keeps on goin’. Not to mention what Mantiz threatened about you. That alone is enough for me to go to war. And we are declaring war. Let’s go get breakfast so I can get on with this shit today and get back here to you,” he said, like it was just as simple as that.

And I didn’t like being shut down like that, but I didn’t wanna react immediately, after all that was going on. I needed to process things. I was in foreign territory what with being a new member of this biker woman club. I needed my biker broad lessons.

“Gimme a sec to make the bed and get changed,” I grumbled.

“Aberdeen boys are goin’ home soon. You want one of them to fetch you some of your stuff?”

“Is that an option?” I asked, perking up.

“Yeah. Get Pippa to pack you a bag. I’ll get someone to run it back.”

I reached for my phone, so I could text Pippa.

“Oh. I need your other number,” I said. “So I can text you Dad’s contact details.”

  “The burner nu
mbers never get shared outside brothers. And I never use it for long anyway. I’ll get a new phone today. I’ll text your dad from your phone and send a prospect out for a new phone I can put my SIM card into. You need me, you text or call my regular number.”

He started to make the bed, so I dropped my phone and helped him.

  My mind was reeling.

  “Do me a favor?”

  I looked at him.

“When a prospect tells ya my phone is up again, send me that pic of you with your tongue inside that sexy donut again?”

  I tilted my head.

“Lost it when I trashed my phone. It’s gonna be my screensaver.”

My face split into a smile.

And then I went to get dressed, in yoga pants and a t-shirt, figuring I’d find that gym he was talking about. He pulled out a business card with the Sioux Falls police logo on it, so he could text my father.

Breakfast consisted of a mountain of fried food and a good number of people, including all the Valentine boys. Spencer had an ugly shiner and his jaw looked a little swollen on one side, but he was acting like nothing had happened. He’d even been trying to tease his sister, but she was subdued, not paying much attention to anyone.

After breakfast, the bikers all disappeared to go to ‘church’, their name for a club members meeting.

About an hour later, doing yoga, and in the middle of downward facing dog, I felt hands on my hips and some hardness pressed up against my butt. I jolted.

  “Hey, gorgeous.”

I breathed relief and stood up. His mouth went against the back of my ear.

“Puttin’ on quite a show, aren’t ya?”

“Hm?” I asked and saw that a bunch of men were walking by the area, which was in an open bit of warehouse space. This place had rooms, halls, open spaces, a combination of them, using a lot of modular walls and dividers. I guess my workout had coincided with the end of biker ‘church’ and they’d passed by on their way wherever they were going and saw me.

  “Turn around and kiss me.”

“I’m all sweaty,” I told him.

“Mm hm. I like it.” He sucked on my neck at the side.

I twisted so that we were face to face and put my arms around his neck and got up on tiptoes to give him a hot and heavy one.

He made a growly sound. “Mm. Good.”
