He whirls me around, lifting me off and the ground, and we fall over on the bed. “How about now? How about a little engagement sex?” he whispers, against my ear, his hot breath driving me wild.
“Engagement sex it is.” His eyes heat up as he puts my legs around his hips. Heat pools in the bottom of my stomach as I feel his cock bulging against my panties.
How did I ever hate Callan Goldsworthy?
It’s a cold morning when we get to the plane with all of our friends around us. I get so cold, I stuff my hands into my pocket. I feel something scratchy brush against my hand. Ouch.
What’s this? I pull out my right hand, to find a folded, crumpled up piece of paper.
I don’t remember putting this here.
I unfold it, and my jaw drops as the blood rushes to my head. I’d know that penmanship anywhere. No one else I know uses cursive like that. No fucking way.
I love you, baby sister. Live the life you were meant to live. Keep this note to yourself.
How long has this been in my jacket? I washed this jacket last week. I gaze around the airport with tear-filled eyes.
“Princess?” I hear from next to me.
I turn around and gaze at Callan.
She told me not to tell anyone. Callan isn’t just anyone. I pull him away from our friends and shove the paper into his hand.
He glances at the paper and then up to me. “And you’re sure this is real?”
“It is,” I insist. He hands the paper back to me and I stare down at it.
Somewhere, out there. My sister is alive. I wish I could see her and tell her how much I miss her, but I’m satisfied with this tiny note.
For now.

I wonder why Callan and Mera had to run off to Kardenia so quickly. I hope that everything’s okay.
They said they’d be back Monday morning when we leave for Cancun.
I didn’t want to come to this party. I would’ve rather stayed in my room all night long. But Luella and Ashlynn are always dragging to them.
Tonight we’re at AAA or the lion’s den as I call it. I hang by the door like I always do, away from the epicenter of the party.
The music is pounding and everyone’s laughing and excited for the coming week. I wish I could get excited. If there’s anything I know for sure, it’s that my vacation will be spoiled by him again.
Kardenia was great, but everywhere I looked. Boom. There he was.
No matter how much I tried to chase him away, it hasn’t worked yet.
He doesn’t remember and I don’t want him to remember.
Sighing, I look down at the empty red cup in my hand. Might as well get another drink.
I step inside the kitchen and fill it up with the generic beer.
As I go to turn around, I bump right into a hard chest.
I glance up to find glittering brown eyes staring down at me.
Ugh, and here he is.
I push my glasses up my face.
“Move.”
But he stays still, an immovable wall. He snatches the cup right out of my hand and drinks all of the beer. He smacks his lips. “Thanks. I was parched, Gem.”
Angrily, I turn around and fill my cup up again.
When I’m done, I feel him pressed right against my back. “Stop standing so close, Noel.”
“Are you going to go out with me?” he whispers.
“No!” I yell. “Never. Why don’t you get it through your head? It’ll never ever happen.”
There’s silence behind me. I feel the loss of his warmth against my back so I turn around. His brown eyes aren’t glittering anymore. They’re completely dark.
As dark as they were the very first night he asked me out and I embarrassed him in front of everyone. He leans his head down and instinctively I move my head away.
“There will come a day that you will want and need me. And I look forward to that day, Gem.”
As if. It’ll never happen. I won’t allow that to happen.
He backs away, hands in his pockets.
I will never get along with Noel Hardington.
This series will continue with The Nerd and the Bully and it’s on pre-order here.
