“Don’t talk to me about grandchildren.” Dare could see Finn was getting upset. “I’ve lost count of the number my kids have presented me with.”

“Do you ever think, daughter,” Emmet waved a hand towards the stage, “that it was your little nutjobs that started all of this!”

“In the name of God, Da, how do you figure that?”

“Paul made his fortune teaching people to weld bits of metal.” Emmet sucked his lips as he thought. “He has all those millions of followers on YouTube now. Maggie got ahead because you introduced her to Tim Liner – and you met him because of your nutjobs. Your two sons were catapulted to fame because they were seen on screen wearing your nutjobs and the world went crazy.” The jewellery arm of Finn’s business made a fortune. Finn designed and made the original items before they were sent out to factories to mass produce. “Dare has a job keeping up with the demands for your designs. Yes,” Emmet nudged her gently, “the more I think about it, the more I believe none of us would be where we are today if it wasn’t for your nutjobs.”

“Would you whist, old man!” Finn didn’t want to talk about it. “The star is on the stage.”
