A Demon's Wings: Vice College For Young Demons: Year Three

By all rights, the room should have looked like a cheap, hippie den but it was done so tastefully that I admired the style. Though it lacked the lavish bordello feel of the Carnal Tower or the opulence of the Covetous Tower, the Idle Tower made me want to sit and stay.

Jin tugged me towards the stairs before I could indulge in my fantasy of faceplanting into one of the cloud-like, giant beanbags in the corner. His room was midway up the tower and the instant he opened the door, I grinned.

His window was open and on the ledge sat a large, fluffy tabby cat with a scowling expression. On his bed, a Siamese cat was curled up on messy sheets and it looked up with sleepy eyes at our entrance, eyes on Jin.

“Guys, this is my mate, Lilith,” Jin announced to the two felines as soon as he'd closed the door behind me. “Pet, this is Coco and Fudge.” He pointed at them respectively before moving to a large cage that took up the space beside the door and securing Doughnut inside with another handful of food.

His room smelled surprisingly clean for someone with so many pets; only the faint odour of sawdust from Doughnut's cage and Jin's own, masculine scent reached my nose. I imagined that the unshown in charge of cleaning the Idle Tower must have their work cut out for them with two cats moulting everywhere.

“Do you name all of your pets after food?” I asked, perching beside Fudge on the bed. I extended my fingers gently and the Siamese gave my hand a quick sniff, decided I wasn't exciting at all, and went back to sleep.

He walked over and lifted the disgruntled cat off the bed to make more room for us. “Of course.”

I bit my lip. “If you don't mind me asking, why do you love animals so much?”

Jin snorted. “Do I have to have a reason? Animals are simple, easy company. They don't judge and they wear their hearts on their sleeves. A better question would be: why wouldn't someone love animals?”

I watched and smiled as Fudge wandered across the room, cocked his head at Doughnut, who stared back defiantly, and then sat down to lick his paws. “Why indeed?”

“My father made me bring them when I was accepted here. Although, even he couldn't find a way to get Treacle over the wall without security confiscating him.”

  “Is Treacle another cat?”

“Nope, he's a very lazy goldfish and his tank is apparently a little too large to hide from security. I would introduce you but he's currently living in Blaze's apartment.”

I smirked at the hypocrisy of Jin calling anything lazy. “I really do need to find a way to get myself invited into this mystery apartment of his.”

“I think your Wrath mate is waiting for you to make the first move.” Jin watched as both cats, apparently annoyed at not having the room to themselves anymore, hopped out of the window. When they were gone, he closed the glass an inch and stripped down to his boxers before climbing under the covers. “I'm honestly surprised you haven't already stormed into his office and demanded Blaze stop holding back.”

I followed his lead, stripping down completely, and slid in beside him whilst I tried to gather my thoughts to answer. He was so warm and it wasn't long before I'd wrapped myself around him like ivy.

I must have been quiet for too long because Jin turned my face up to look at him. His brows were drawn in concern and his voice was quiet when he spoke. “Pet, you're not afraid of Blaze, are you?”

I shook my head instantly. “No, not like that. I know he couldn't hurt me…”

“Then what is it? Not that it's my business…”

My teeth worried at my bottom lip as I tried to answer. “What if I don't like it?” I whispered. “I hate not being involved in that part of his life but what if I try and I'm not what he wants? What if it's something that Blaze needs from me and I just can't take it?”

Jin shook his head. “Lilith, you're a Succubus. You're the personification of sex. More than that, you're Blaze's mate and he loves you.” I flinched at hearing the three words, even though Blaze himself wasn't saying them to me. “He does,” Jin insisted. “Even if you've forbidden him from telling you that he does. He's waited for you for years and there is nothing you could do that would disappoint him. Or any of us, for that matter.”

I snuggled closer. “You know, being your mate doesn't mean I'll automatically be the woman of your dreams.”

“Why not? You've already lived up to mine. I never in a million years thought Kain and I would find a woman who could accept that we'd want to share her in the long term. Most women see a threesome with us as a bucket list item, not a possibility for a long-term relationship. We got used to that, welcomed it, even. Then you came along…”

“And accidentally mated us all,” I finished for him.

He smiled and kissed me sweetly. “That was the best moment of our lives, Pet. Just like your mating Blaze was probably the best moment of his.”

I reached up and kissed him back, deepening the contact. When we broke apart, we were both panting. “I love you as well.”

He grinned, stroking a hand down my back in a caress that had me arching further into him. “I know you do.” He used my motion to capture my lips again.

I broke the contact with a playful glower. “You have to say it back.”

His smile never faltered. “I say it back every time I let you sit on my sofa. But, if three little words mean more than sharing my favourite nap spot, I suppose it can't hurt to say it.” He took my mouth again, rolling on top of me as he kissed me with lazy abandon. The erotic weight of his body, and the hardness I felt trapped against my leg, conspired with the lazy flick of his tongue against mine to distract me. “Lady Lilith Carazor, I, your humble Sloth mate, adore you beyond reason. I love you more than life itself and I promise to live every second of our immortality doing so.”

I giggled and silenced him with another kiss.

But he didn't stop there. Instead, his mouth trailed little lines of fiery kisses down my neck. “I." Kiss. "Love." Kiss. "You.” Our mating bond bubbled beneath my skin.

Then those beautiful, cruel lips of his found my nipple. I turned molten as Jin nipped, tugged and licked the tiny bud, his large, warm palm encompassing my other breast and squeezing with just the right amount of pressure to make me squirm. I rocked against the hardness of him, hissing in tortured pleasure as the action rubbed against my clit.

But he didn't let me continue. One of his hands left my breasts and slid up my leg to rest behind my knee. He gently pushed at the joint, bending my leg and forcing it upwards before doing the same with his other hand on my other leg. He spread me to the point where I was completely on display, then let his thumbs trace tiny circles into the skin behind my knee. I shivered at the vulnerability of my position then moaned as he moved his attention from my breasts to my core.

He spread tiny, butterfly kisses against my inner thighs, tormenting me as he occasionally strayed closer to where I needed him most.

“Jin!” I protested, as he teased me for the hundredth time.

He lifted his eyes to mine. “Yes, Pet?”

“I want more.” I shocked myself at the brazenness of my demand.

He smirked. “What my mate wants, she gets.”

His mouth returned to my centre, that talented tongue traced the outline of my sex, then circled my clit with perfect, agonising slowness. My hands flew into his hair as though magnetised, holding him to me as he stole my every rational thought. His tongue left my clit and I felt bereft for the briefest instant before it reappeared stroking at my opening, spearing in and out of me for only a few seconds before returning to my clit.

When my orgasm came, it left me shaking and limp. It felt as though I'd run a marathon, and yet every nerve ending I possessed came flaring back to life as Jin lined his cock up with my entrance.

He pressed into me slowly and I felt every single inch of him as he forged into me. When our hips finally met, I clenched around him and he cursed.

“Keep doing that and I'm not going to last long,” he warned.

  So, of course, I did
it again anyway.

He slowly dragged his hips back in revenge and the delicious friction made my brain go completely blank and my eyes close at the intensity of it all. His mouth took mine and I tasted my own flavour on his tongue as our mouths mimicked the slow fucking of our bodies.

I wasn't prepared for the moment he reached down the mating bond with a psychic pulse of love that sent tears to my eyes. It was like being embraced emotionally and physically at the same time, and it undid me. My eyes fluttered open in astonishment, locking with his in an unexpectedly tender moment that shattered my heart and my body all at once.

The force of my orgasm sent him over the edge. Pure power flooded me as his cock spurted hotly inside me and I managed to press a small kiss over his heart before the combination of energy, pleasure and exhaustion sent me into oblivion.

  Chapter 5

The only good thing about being the Head of House Carazor was that I no longer had to complete a mandatory work placement for the two months between the ball and the start of the next term. Instead, I was given an unused office on the third floor of the castle and expected to use the time to sort out the family affairs. That essentially translated to reading through the sixty applications to join my house and deciding whether to approve them.

The best thing about it was that the office had electricity and internet and it was completely unmonitored by the school. Maddox, my Professor and Grand Master of the Order of Shadow, had explained that, while in that room, I was The Lady Carazor and able to do whatever I wished and conduct all my business in complete privacy. The moment I stepped outside, I was just another student again.

The first day, I spent my time checking my human social media. Although, logically, I knew that humans forgot demons quickly, I still had to see it for myself to believe it. I also knew that my mother would have done her duty and taken over my social media with dwindling posts about my work in the 'family business.' Every demonic parent who permitted their child on those kinds of sites knew the law and was responsible for slowly fading us out of memory without arousing suspicion. But it was still depressing to stalk my old friends and see them happy and oblivious and my accounts deleted or inactive.

It was like the old me had never existed in the first place…

And in some ways, it did feel like my life had only truly begun when I came to Vice. My old worries about not going through my showing and panic about keeping my demonic nature secret from my human friends now felt like a memory of a dream I'd once had.

I wanted to be angry or sad about it but, at the same time, I wouldn't trade my new world for anything. I finally understood what my mother had been trying to tell me back then. My life now was so much more than I'd ever imagined it could have been and I could no longer go back to living like a human.

I didn't linger on those sites as I could have.

Instead, I spent most of my time video-chatting with Nelly. My best friend made for a pretty excellent personal assistant and that wasn't just me being biased. She'd already digitised the files and added her own annotations, including flagging up potential issues I hadn't even considered. If I took the wrong demon into my house, they remained there until another house accepted them. And if they offended a different house, I could be obligated to duel on their behalf to settle the matter. Worse still, if they pissed off the wrong person, I could end up with a feud that might last decades or more.

As it was, I was very fortunate that my grandparents had kept our House small and quiet, finishing off any feuds quickly and diplomatically. The Carazors hadn't feuded with anyone in over six hundred years. I only prayed I didn't mess that up.

I hadn't known how detailed the lineages the Demonic Church kept of each family were, until I saw an application from a demon who'd traced our blood relation back to 300 B.C.E. to convince me to take him. These people were taking a huge gamble, asking to be part of my house and assuming it would be better than their current one. But, with Nelly's severe vetting process, only ten of the sixty or so applications were approved.

Of course, the Knights and my mates were all approved automatically, which brought the total number of people in my House up to about a hundred. A hundred lives in my hands, many of them total strangers.

Just thinking of how much responsibility I now had was enough to make me shiver.

When I wasn't attending to official duties in my office, trying to understand the crazy demonic political system, chatting with Nelly or panicking about my first ever Assembly meeting which was drawing ever closer, I was alone. My mates were busy with their work placements, with Bane having drawn the short straw of assisting Professor Pruitt for two months (something I suspected was Blaze's doing).

I took to spending my free hours in the library trying to get ahead with my subjects or with Enzo, exploring the nooks and crannies of whichever city he felt like showing me at the time.

But even my Assassin had to work and his jobs often kept him away for days at a time.

So, I was dejected, but not surprised, to be getting ready for bed with only my imps for company, two weeks after the ball's disastrous end. I was wrapped in a towel and had only just reached into my drawers for my pyjamas when a soft knock at my door stopped me in my tracks.

I could feel that it was Daron and I started toward the door but a knock at my window had me pausing.

Bane, as well? I stood frozen, the towel slipping as my indecisiveness wasted precious seconds. I ended up using PK to open both and using my arms to tug the towel tighter around me.

Bane swung through the window just as Daron peeped around the open door. I felt their eyes trace lines of fire down my body and back up again. Daron coughed lightly and blushed, while Bane's gaze lingered at the spot where my breasts were pressed against the towel.

“Was there something you needed?” I asked him, trying not to let show how much that one, heated look affected me.

“Date night,” Daron stammered, his eyes studiously trying to remain focused on my face.

“And as far as Blaze knows I'm not involved,” Bane said, a cheeky grin lighting up his eyes as he finally dragged his gaze back to my face.

I gave him an eye roll and turned to Daron. “He crashed your date night, didn't he?”

Daron smiled. “He's only there to help with the logistics.”

I started heading for my wardrobe, then paused. “What should I wear?”

The two men were wearing casual jeans and shirts but that didn't mean anything.

“Something warm, in dark colours,” Daron recommended. “Those jeans that Nelly got you.”

I snorted because I knew he'd chosen those jeans because they happened to fit me as if they'd been painted onto my body. “Whatever you say…”

I ended up indulging the request but covering the jeans with a knee-length black coat, mindful of Daron's warning to stay warm.

I went for a pair of heels but my Envy mate was already there with some walking boots.

“Are we going on a hike?” I asked, slipping my feet into them.

Onyx and Ivory, having heard the commotion, appeared from their tiny house and buzzed around the room for a second before they settled by my feet. Ivory instantly began to tie the left shoelaces into an intricate bow but Onyx simply turned the right one into a skipping rope. My light imp confiscated it, almost starting a brawl in his effort to ensure my feet were bedecked in matching bows. When they'd finished, they flew up to my shoulders and settled, the entire debacle having only lasted a handful of seconds.

“Nope.” Bane made a popping sound on the last syllable, drawing me back to the conversation. “You won't guess.” He climbed back out of the window and then turned to Daron. “See you at the car.”

With that, he swung out of sight, leaving my Envy mate to offer me his arm. “Shall we?”

I smiled and took it, letting him lead the way out through the Gatehouse and into the waiting security car. Bane was in the back, so I took the passenger seat, buckling myself in as Daron started t
he engine. “So, Blaze approved this then?”

  Daron flushed. “Erm … well…”

“Blaze actually spent fifteen minutes going on and on about the assassins that came after you on your last date at the beach. Fortunately, our resident geek happens to have CCTV footage of Blaze streaking through Newcastle city centre on a night out in his youth.” Bane sounded like a cat who got the cream. “He blackmailed him with promises to show it to you and Rina if Blaze tried to prevent his courtship.”

“Even that won't be enough to persuade him this is a good idea if he finds out you're here too.” Daron rolled his eyes as he glanced in the rear-view mirror.

Bane didn't seem worried. “He won't find out and if he does, I'm only here to make sure you two are safe. I'm not breaking his rules.”

“What exactly are the rules?” I heard about them all the time but so far, all I'd gathered was that they involved Bane not being allowed near me without a chaperone.

“Too numerous to list,” Daron muttered. “Although Blaze has certainly tried.”

Bane chuckled. “He wanted to put one of those trackers humans use on their prisoners around my ankle. Fortunately, he was outvoted. Even Aeron's not that mad at me that he wants me tagged.”

I smirked. I could admit to myself that I was a little bit glad of Blaze's protectiveness, in this instance at least. As much as I believed Bane's sincerity, I was also aware of my own tendency to forgive too easily when it came to my mates. If Blaze's protectiveness became an issue, or I really disagreed with it, I'd put a stop to it. Until then, it was a nice cushion which prevented me from making any rash decisions about Bane.

“Aeron did vote for getting you confined to Vice's grounds though,” Daron reminded him.

“Yeah, but I think they both knew they wouldn't manage to enforce it.”

They kept discussing the rules the whole way there. The list was exhaustive—and included an unanimous group vote being required before Bane could sleep in the same bed as me.
