Somebody Else (Somebody, Nobody Duet Book 1)

Bacon? Eggs? Toast?
I crept into the kitchen and stood with my jaw dropped.
Ben was shirtless with a dish towel thrown over his shoulder. Cooking. Breakfast.
“Hey, Kinsley,” he said. “Good morning.”
He quickly turned and dove for the coffeepot. He poured a cup and handed it to me.
“Good morning,” he said.
“Ben…”
“I was going to do breakfast in bed, but you’re awake now.”
“I can see that,” I said. “I thought you were at work.”
“Not this morning. Not worried about it.”
He turned and went back to the stove. I slowly put the coffee mug on the table. My eyes went to my phone. I bit my lip, wondering if Brice had gotten back to me yet.
I walked to Ben and touched his smooth and muscle laced arm.
“Hey.”
“Yeah?” he asked, looking at me.
“What is this?”
“What?”
“I know we talked a little… but you can’t just throw everything to the wind.”
“Why not?”
“Ben, it won’t last,” I said. “You know that. We are who we are here. We need to talk everything out…”
“Exactly what I was thinking,” he said. “And have a sense of something new. A new path, right?”
“Yeah, right,” I said. “There’s so much…”
“Of course there is,” he said. He turned the burner off and pushed a pan of scrambled eggs away. He spun around and put his hands to my hips and walked me back to the table. “There’s so much we need to talk about. So much we need to figure out. But one thing that doesn’t change is what we feel.”
“I know that,” I said.
“New path, right?” he asked.
“Yeah…”
Ben grinned as he reached into his pocket. He reached for my left hand and peeled my fingers open. I felt something touch my hand as he stepped back.
When I looked down and saw the diamond ring, I gasped for a breath.
“I didn’t want to be the cliché guy and do it on Christmas Eve or morning. Then things got… I don’t know. But we have a new chapter ahead of us, Kinsley. You. Me. Our future. And our pasts.”
I looked at Ben, shock rippling through my body.
He gently touched my face. “So, what do you say, Kinsley? Are you ready for another adventure in life?”
My heart finally exploded, once and for all.
The clash happening in such a wicked way.
And before I knew what I was doing… I started to nod…

Hey darlin’
This is an epic journey we’re on together now, darlin’. I’m sure a part of you wants to give me a well deserved smack across the face for what just happened, but I promise you, it’s worth it.
This story really began a long time ago for me. You know I put myself into these books, but this one is really a lot for me. I wanted to explore just how deep a second chance romance could go… and what would happen if that romance was challenged by a new love. I never intended it to have the feel of some love triangle, but here we are.
The question is now… what is Kinsley really going to do here? She’s got a simple, calm life right in front of her. A street that’s easy. Comfort. A chance to rest almost peacefully in life now. But at the same time, there’s something so truthful and meaningful with Brice, how do you just walk away from that for good?
If you’re reading this on publication day of SOMEBODY ELSE, you only have to wait a short time for the release of NOBODY ELSE. If you’re reading this after the publication date… well, the next book is waiting for you right now.
I can never express my thankfulness and love for you, darlin’. The support you give to me. The way you allow me to bring these stories to life. And your amazing messages and emails… the ability to stay connected while you’re reading and after you’re done reading is truly one of the greatest things about this life I live.
As always, feel free to email me with comments, questions, your review… or just to say HEY… JaxsonKidman@gmail.com.
Much love,
- Jaxson

DEAR EVERLY
Dear Everly,

She works at our daughter's preschool. Everywhere I go, she's there. My forever is changing now... I'm falling in love with her. Loving her means forgetting you. Loving her means letting you go. Loving her... means everything to me.
I love you endlessly,
Jake

AND AS PART OF THE ‘TRUE HEARTS COLLECTION’…
EVERY OTHER WEEKEND
Every other weekend, my mom gets a break. At least that’s what she tells me. My mom has a new friend too. I’ve only met him a few times. She tells me she only sees him every other weekend. It’s nice to see her smile. She used to be sad after my dad decided he wanted to live somewhere new, by himself, and only see me every other weekend.
My mom’s new friend makes her happy. I think they want to see each other more than every other weekend. Which doesn’t bother me at all. I just want my mom happy. I’m pretty sure everything is going to be okay, like my mom always tells me.
Except now, something happened. My mom is crying again. When I ask her why, she says her new friend won’t be coming around anymore - not even every other weekend. And that my dad is sick again and he won’t see me every other weekend either. I gave her my favorite toy to make her not cry, but I don’t think it’s going to work.
My name is Sam, and I’m just a kid, and maybe this isn’t my story to tell.
