“I loved you from the moment I met you. That emotion scared the hell out of me and made me think you were too good to be true. Too many people have left my life when I loved them. My mother first and then my father, I didn’t want the same thing to happen with you. So I ran. Your words hit too close to home. I was so used to taking care of everyone.”
She took a deep breath. “That when you wanted to take care of me I thought it some fluke and that soon you’d tire of me and leave anyway. So I left—”
Nico interrupted her. “You left before I could do the leaving.”
She nodded her head. “Yes, that way I wouldn’t be hurt. I love you. I’m sorry I didn’t trust that you cared for me and truly wanted to take care of me.”
“I more than just care for you, Cinda A. Rella. I love you every bit as much as you love me. I want to be the one who gives you your happy ending. All you have to do is let me. Will you?”
The tears fell freely now and she sobbed, nodding her head. “Yes! A million times yes.”
“Then we have a wedding to plan.”
“Wedding?”
“You didn’t think I was just talking about being fuck buddies, did you? I mean that’s all well and good and we definitely are going to do loads of fucking. That’s not all I’m offering. I want to marry you. Will you marry me, Cinda? Take my ring and my collar?”
“Yes, I will take your ring and collar, Master Nico, and hold them near and dear to my heart.”
He kissed her soundly, and she wrapped her arms about his neck, kissing him hungrily. Whoever thought there was no such thing as a happy ever after hadn’t ever met one such as the good Doctor. Life had a way of coming together when the magic known as Doctor Fairee became involved. She had much to be thankful for and a wedding to plan.
