  About The Author

  Chapter One

Lily had always thought that there was safety in what she did. Everyone loved her craftsmanship. Even her parents were proud that she was taking care of the family. When aliens invaded, being able to take care of your family seemed like a foreign concept, but she was able to put food on the table. She was able to provide them some sort of comfort. Or so she thought. Everything soon would come crashing down around her, and she wouldn’t know what to do with it. Everything would change, as it always did, but this time Lily wouldn’t be sure if she could find purchase again.

You’d think that when an alien race came down, they’d need something like more slaves. They did, but that wasn’t here nor there in Lily’s world until she was taken. You think that they might need something like technology, but they didn’t. They didn’t even like technology despite having more advance technology than the human race had managed. They’d prefer to live in something similar to the middle ages.

There was even a caste system, and that’s how Lily figured out what they did need. She had become a seamstress with her talents. She had wanted to be a fashion designer, and this was the closest she could get. Her mother had figured it out as well. That’s why their family seemed to always have food when others didn’t. They started to sew what was needed. Robes for the court. Hiding in the dark seamstress room that they had in an old building that had almost no holes in it, which is more than most humans could say they lived in now, it was easy to forget who they were making these beautiful robes for.

Her family always tried to forget, but Lily didn’t want to. She couldn’t if she tried. She was all too aware that humans were little more than animals. She hadn’t been a toddler seven long years ago when aliens invaded. Her brothers and sisters, in that sense were spared. Yet, she knew that this would be the only world that they knew now.

A world of being a slave, and she wanted to let them hide away. It kept them safe, and that’s why she volunteered to go to the market so her mother didn’t have to risk herself. Her mother didn’t like to go out anyway, and Lily always loved the fresh air. This was still her planet. No matter who was on it or ruled it now.

There were times that Lily would hope that one day humans would take back the home that was there’s, but she then would remember that she was only a seamstress. I’m not even that now. The thought slammed into her painfully, bringing her back from her daydreams of the “Before Time”.

Now she had a collar around her neck that turned her into little more than a dainty doll. She could be repositioned and moved at the will of another, and the man that was sneering down at her as he picked her up to put her on the pedestal at the auction block reminded her how helpless she was. There were other girls and even men there in the auction block.

There were aliens milling about, and for the most part they were ugly. They had deep, black ebony skin that was darker than any race she’d seen on earth, and silver hair that seemed to glow white. There were some with no markings, others had gold and silver tattooed across their chest, and they had almond shaped eyes that were so human but filled with inhuman colors.

Eyes the color of blood, lavender flowers, yellow as bright as the sun, blue that seemed to glow and green that seemed to be nuclear. They were so humanoid in shape, but their colors were so far from it that it terrified her and enthralled her. The one holding her now had a muted red color, and it reminded her of the demons that many humans liked to paint these aliens as. They certainly acted demonic. Lily didn’t dare let her thoughts wander to where she’d end up.

Sex slave? Meat? She would have shuddered if she could have. The thought was too much, but it was only a dark rumor. No one had seen an alien actually eat anyone yet. She wondered if it was too close to cannibalism for them, but she dismissed the thought. She knew they didn’t view them anywhere near the same. Maybe if she was lucky she’d be just a house slave, but Lily couldn’t ponder her future.

She just tried to recede deep into herself so that she didn’t have to keep her eyes open. They seemed to close. The only luxury the collar around her neck allowed. She was able to close her eyes and recede into herself until she heard nothing, saw nothing, and was sitting in the only place inside herself that would be hers for long.

  Chapter Two

When Lily finally did open her eyes, she couldn’t quite pinpoint why she was doing it. There was a large part of her that never wanted to never open her eyes again, but even with the circumstances, there was no way that Lily could give up that easily. Maybe she knew he was staring at her before she opened her eyes, bu
t when she did all she saw was him. His skin, black as the night and yet blacker, was more than enough to give him away as an alien, but she was staring into rainbow colored eyes. It was like a galaxy of color had exploded in those eyes, and it took her breath away for a moment. She didn’t know what to do. She knew the rumors.

Only the royal bloodline in their race had those eyes. Lily never thought she’d see royalty. She certainly didn’t expect to be taken into the arms of one. It took her a minute to realize that she had just been sold, and that settled into her cold and heavy. It was a stark comparison to the warm chest she was now nestled against.

Her heart was hammering in her chest. She saw him glancing down at her, and soon they were in a carriage. They had brought their own horse like creatures, that cannibalized their own, and they were also unearthly beautiful. Stronger, living longer, and the aliens couldn’t stand cars. The irony is she knew that they took better care of this planet than humans ever did, but whenever she had to think about it, she pushed it back, telling herself it still gave them no right to the planet.

What right do we have to destroy something older than us like our planet, though? Her inner voice would counter. She thought that now, but only briefly as the alien sat across from her. Who are you? She thought. He was smiling at her in an almost perverse pleasure, and when he smiled, she saw the glint of fangs. Something she was also told was a trait of royalty, but only for a select few.

She knew he had to be high up, but Lily tried to not let panic take hold of her. He pricked his finger, and she saw the red blood pool up before he placed it on the collar, and then suddenly a silky voice was speaking to her, ordering the collar around. It must be controlled by blood. She thought. Now it’s controlled by you. She mused over the thought. It was hard to place that silky voice with the terrifying man before her. No creature. She tried to correct herself.

“You may relax and speak freely. I will freeze you at any time if you do something stupid, woman.” He said, saying woman as if she should be happy to be addressed at all. The words were cool despite the silky, soft tone that they were spoken. She felt her body finally belonging to herself again as Lily’s muscles relaxed. She looked at him for a long minute. There was a part of her that wanted to scream, to run, but all she could do was stare at him in silent fascination.

“Who are you?” Was the only question that Lily allowed to slip out of her mouth.

“Your new master.” Was all he said with amusement in his voice. Something sparked in his eyes, and Lily watched as they changed from that glittering rainbow, settling on a deep blue that reminded her of the ocean waves.

“Why do your eyes do that?” She asked. Lily knew that it should be of no consequence to her, but her curiosity was all consuming. I should know about my captor. She reasoned, but there was no hiding that it was genuine curiosity.

“The royal lines show their emotions in their eyes.” He said, seeming happy to indulge her fascination. It was as if he was looking at her like she was a little girl, and then she looked at where his eyes were landing. They would flick to her breast before settling back on her face. No not a little girl. She thought. A woman, but a woman completely under his control. She corrected.

“What does blue mean?” She asked, and he laughed. It was a deep, throaty chuckle. One that made heat flush through her and a tingle spark between her legs. She knew what arousal was, but Lily tried to deny as she stared at him, hoping he’d answer.

“It means I am content. I’ve wanted you since I saw you at the market, and now you are mine, woman.” He said, and she felt cold. She knew that going to the market was dangerous, and she tried to push away the thoughts that now someone else in her family would have to risk that danger now that she was gone.

“What is your name?” The man before her asked, and it startled her. Somehow, Lily didn’t expect him to ask her questions or have curiosity himself.

  “Lily…” She answered, trailing off.

“Lily.” The man repeated, rolling it off of his tongue as if it was exotic. To him, she was sure it was. “Humans are so odd. I suppose I can see why they’d name you after such a beautiful flower.” He said, and there was that deep, silky voice again giving her a compliment that she would never have expected. She felt herself blush and that tingle happen again, but she tried to push all of those feelings deep down. He isn’t human. The voice in her head yelled at her. He’s your master now. A more feral voice yelled, and so she went quiet. Lily was shaken, and she didn’t know what to do. The man just looked at her, still amused. She expected him to ask more questions or to say something, but the rest of the ride was done in silence.

  Chapter Three

Lily shook a little as she looked around the room that she was given. It wasn’t what she was expecting. She was expecting to be thrown into a room with the bare essentials. She expected to be treated like a slave or a prisoner at the very least, but this was different. This was almost kind, and she bit her lip a little in worry as she looked around. She checked the door, but of course her new Master had locked her in. she cringed even thinking of calling someone master. It bothered her, but she knew that is exactly what he legally was, and so she tried to force herself to think of him in that way. At least until I can get away. She thought to herself. If I can get away. Lily bit her bottom lip, trying to chase the worrisome thought with pain.

“Why would he give me this?” She thought to herself, looking around the room.

It was grand. It was bigger than her whole home before. The wood was a deep, rich mahogany, and it took her breath away. Lily knew that if she jumped on the bed to rest she’d be resting on a cloud. It’s why she didn’t allow herself to lay down. I’m not just going to sleep yet. If this is my new home, I should know what I’ll be living with. She thought to herself before looking at the two doors that were at the edges of her room.

Lily thought they’d be locked as well, but she still couldn’t stop herself from walking over. Her curiosity was too much. In the first one, she opened up a closet that was full of robes and gowns of the same class she often sewed, but she was never able to wear them herself. She caught her fingers grazing the material in awe before yanking her fingers away.

No, they can’t be for me. There has to be a mistake. Lily shook her head, going to the next door, but her gaze lingered before she was able to pull it away. The clothes were truly beautiful. The other door was also unlocked, and it was cold marble floors. It’s a bathroom. She thought, but it didn’t do the room justice. This room can’t be for me. It does have to be a mistake. She thought, but Lily also knew better. The man that had bought her didn’t make mistakes. That was something she was certain of.

Lily walked in, looking at the claw foot tub and walk in shower. She looked at the beautiful expanse of carvings and space. She was sure that it would be luxurious. There were rows of scents, oils, soaps, candles, perfumes all for the taking on the shelf as well. Lily didn’t hear him come in behind her. He looked at her with curiosity and a small smile playing over his dark lips.

“Do you like it?” he asked, startling her.

“This can’t be for me.” She said, blurting it out before she meant to. Lily had no opportunity to take the words back.

“Why can’t it be?” He asked, clearly amused by her reaction. It made Lily purse her lips anger boiling up with the confusion that she was feeling inside.

“Because it’s too grand. It’s for a woman not a slave.” She said pointedly.

“Are you not a woman?” He quipped quickly. “Lily.” He added, as if her name were something exotic. Her name made her shiver when he said it, but Lily pushed on with the conversation despite it.

“I am your slave.” Lily wanted to yell, but it came out as a breathless whisper for reasons that she didn’t want to fathom at that moment.

“Good.” He said, leaning in close to whisper in her ear with one rough hand on her cheek to make sure that she didn’t move away as he placed a gentle kiss on her neck. “You recogn
ize that.” He said, placing another gentle kiss, making her shiver. She could feel his sharp teeth grazing her delicate skin as her heart started to pound.

“What are you doing?” She asked, but the only thing he said in response was a small chuckle that she could feel on her skin. His lips seemed to burn her in a strange way everywhere they touched, and her breasts rose and fell.

“What do you want me to be doing, little girl?” He teased her, testing the waters.

“I want you to let me go.” She said, but her voice wavered.

“You like what I’ve given you.” He said, nipping her skin sharply. “Don’t lie to me. You should never lie to me.” He told her.

“Now, I own you. Call me Master and I’ll also give you my real name.” He said, putting a distinction on every word, making it quite clear that he was giving her something but it didn’t make it any less of a command. Lily started to tremble, trying to force herself to form the word, but she wasn’t just trembling from fear. Arousal? She thought in shock before forcing the traitorous word away and spitting the word out of from between clenched teeth.

  “Master.” She said.

“Say it again.” He said, pressing his teeth into her skin in a long, slow nip. He still didn’t break skin, but Lily was all too aware that it was simply because he didn’t want to.

“Master.” She groaned as he bit again.

“That’s a good girl.” He said, smiling at her before pulling away completely.

“I am King Milan.” He said, eyes darkening as he looked at her. She could have sworn she saw all the stars in those eyes of his, but she chose to say nothing. Lily was too stunned. The idea that this man was a kind of his race was almost too much for her.
