Important Terms and Characters
Ahebban – The god of conflict and bloodshed. Kai's maternal grandfather. Murdered by his son Malgor in the Golden Era.
Alderi – Casually referred to as dark elves. Blue, purple, or blackish in color with black or red eyes. A brutal and crude race suited to the underground and sly dealings.
Altan Marcet – The former first Sentinel of Eteri, falsely accused of traitorous actions and murdered by Kirek Sjors after Hammerton's takeover in 429. His murder was the catalyst for the splitting loyalties of the Eteri Sentinels, leading to Hammerton's (later Fremont's) separation from Eteri.
Alteration magic – A school of magic dealing in the altering of material objects. Used for practical purposes and for battle support.
Amora – The goddess of love.
Ancients – An ancient race of beings that not much is known about. Accredited with the creation of the gods. Said to have existed during the beginning of the Golden Era.
Anto Erikur – The late friend of Kai Sera, killed during the Battle of Highland Pass in 422. Former member of the Seran Renegades.
Arrayis – The world, consisting of all continents and oceans.
Arturian Kilgor – Kai Sera's biological father, and a magical scientist. The discoverer of the Kilgorian Law, and founder of the village of Kilgor.
Azazel Beriah – Kai Sera's right-hand man. Former slave of the underground. Wielder of karambits, a long bow, and alteration magic. Alchemist. Member of the Seran Renegades. Full-blooded Alderi.
Bardarik – The god of the ax.
Battle of Highland Pass - Taking place on the 28th of Red Moon, 422, this was the defense of southern Eteri against a massive Icilic invasion. Otherwise known as the largest land battle in Arrayis’s history, this battle resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of defenders and attackers, including two Seran Renegades. Battle ended in a massacre sparked by Kai Sera’s rage. Catalyst for the Great Glacial Flood of 423.
Battle of the Dead – The battle between Chairel and the Seran Renegades/Naharan Army just north of T'ahal in the year 418. Catalyst for the War of Necromancers.
Battle of the Southern Plains – The battle between Celendar's reinforcements and the Seran Renegades/Eteri Army/Underground Army southwest of Griswald during the seizure of Hammerton in 428. Resulted in the extermination of the royal Galan family of Celendar and the capture of Silas Galan by the Seran Renegades. Battle ended with Celendar's withdrawal.
Beastmen – A term to describe alteration mages who can transform into beasts by will. The term can be used interchangeably with shapeshifter.
Bjorn Berg – The late general of the Seran Army, and the only positive father figure Kai has ever met. Executed by Sirius Sera in the year 417 for his assistance in Cerin Heliot's escape from Sera's dungeons.
Blood-kin – Used to describe the animal beastmen have chosen to mix blood with. (i.e. wolf-kin may describe a werewolf)
Calder Cerberius – King of the underground. Beastman who is blood-kin with a horned lizard. Necromancer. Ally of the Seran Renegades. Sometimes referred to by his given name Alastor. Full-blooded Alderi.
Celdic – Casually referred to as wood elves. A peace-seeking race not prone to battle. Most reside in the tree city of Celendar.
Celendar – One of Chairel’s four major cities. Home to the Celdic elves and the Knights of Celendar.
Cerin Heliot – Kai Sera's lover. Dual caster of life and death magic. Wielder of scythe. Member of the Seran Renegades. Half-breed of Icilic and human blood.
Chairel – A rich country mostly known for its four major cities of Sera, Comercio, Celendar, and Narangar. Main enemy of the Seran Renegades.
Chance – The god of trade and fortune.
Cicero – The god of chaos. Escaped the dungeons of Mistral in 423.
Cyrus Anil – King of Fremont and former second Sentinel of Eteri. Water mage and wielder of katars. Full-blooded Vhiri.
Dark Star – The season of winter. 90 days in length. Last season of the year.
Dax Romney – The third Fremont Sentinel. Dual caster of life and water magic and wielder of throwing axes. Full-blooded Vhiri.
Dual Caster – A mage capable of wielding two elements.
Elemental magic – Deals in the elements of fire, earth, water, air, life, and death.
Eteri – A nation of highlands and vast plains. Home of the Vhiri elves. Enemy of all nations after breaking the alliance with the Seran Renegades in 429.
Ferris – An herbal drug often smoked rolled in paper. Grown in the wildlands. Said to have pain relieving properties.
Fremont – Formerly known as Hammerton before its seizure in 429. A country to the east of Chairel. A nation of forests and mountains. Allied with the Seran Renegades.
Giants – A race of people ranging from ten to thirty feet tall depending on age. Natives of Eteri. Magnificent architects.
Glacia – An icy continent that was destroyed in the events of the Great Glacial Flood of 423.
Gods – A powerful race of beings of varied skills. The source of most religions on Arrayis. A vengeful and arrogant race.
Golda Orland – Narangar's regent. Wielder of explosive launcher. Full-blooded dwarf.
Golden Era – An era spanning 5782 years before the current Mortal Era.
Great Glacial Flood of 423 – The title granted to the events at the end of Air. Includes the complete destruction of the continent of Glacia by the god Ciro allied with Eteri and the Seran Renegades, and the resulting flood of the northern hemisphere of Arrayis. The flooding destroyed the coastal towns of Esen, Thornwell, and Dagmar and nearly exterminated the Icilic race.
Gwen Alcander – Eldest daughter of Queen Edrys, regent of Comercio, and heir to the Chairel throne. War general. Wielder of sword, shield, and life magic. Full-blooded human.
Hades – The god of the dead. Gifted
the spell enervat to Kai Sera during the destruction of Tal in 421.
Hakan Ramses – Soldier of Fremont. Wielder of hatchet, spiked shield, and dual caster of fire and water. Lover of Uriel Anemone. Full-blooded Vhiri.
Half-breed – A person who carries the blood of two separate races and contains traits from both.
Hammerton – The land of Fremont before its seizure by the Vhiri in 429.
Hasani Samara – King of Nahara. War general. Wielder of an ax, javelins, and water magic. Full-blooded human.
High Star – The season of summer. 90 days in length. Second season of the year.
Hinder – The god of obstruction.
Holter Dunn – Beastman who is blood-kin with the oozlum. Dual caster of earth and death magic. Wielder of alteration magic. Scout, alchemist, archer, and musician. Member of the Seran Renegades. Half-breed of Vhiri and Alderi blood.
Icilic – Casually referred to as snow elves. Natives of Glacia. Nearly exterminated in the Great Glacial Flood of 423.
Illusion magic – A school of magic dealing in the creation of illusions for entertainment or nefarious purposes.
Jakan Yair – The late friend of Kai Sera, killed during the Battle of Highland Pass in 422. Former member of the Seran Renegades.
Kacela – The goddess of the hunt. Assassinated the goddess Nanya in 425. Slain by Azazel Beriah in the year 428.
Kai Sera – Wielder of the six elements and the lesser schools of magic. Adopted daughter of Sirius Sera. Leader of the Seran Renegades. Half-breed of god and human blood.
Kilgorian Law – Named after its discoverer, Arturian Kilgor, it is a scientific law which states a mage's magic energy is pulled from reserves in a natural order: environment, weather, self.
Kirek Sjors – Queen of Eteri and former third Sentinel of Eteri. Earth mage and dual-wielder of axes. Full-blooded Vhiri.
Magnilda (Maggie) Roark – Engineer. Inventor and developer of Eteri's magical warship shielding systems. Wielder of a war hammer. Member of the Seran Renegades. Half-breed of dwarf and giant blood.
Malachi – The messenger of the gods. Slain by Nyx Sephtis in 421.
Malgor – The god of war. Slain by Kai Sera in the year 418 in the Battle of the Gods. Kai Sera's uncle.
Marcus Clay – The fourth Fremont Sentinel. Architect and engineer. Wielder of giant spiked club. Full-blooded giant.
Material element – Another way to describe the elements of fire, earth, water, and air.
Melodi – The goddess of music.
Mirage – The goddess of illusion.
Mirrikh Sly – Offensive-based alchemist with a penchant for developing poisons and caustic materials. Beastman who is blood-kin with the acidic Naharan scorpion. Suffers from multiple personalities. Calder Cerberius’s lead blood mixing scientist. Full-blooded Alderi.
Moons – Another word for seasons, as in, there are four moons in a year.
Mortal Era – The current era, directly following the Golden Era. Any dates referred to in The Six Elements are of the Mortal Era, unless otherwise specified.
Nahara – A country known for its giant beasts and vast deserts. Ally of the Seran Renegades and the underground.
Nanya – The goddess of lust, and Kai's mother. Assassinated by the goddess Kacela in 425.
Narangar – The dwarven capital in southwest Chairel. Its harbor was destroyed by Kai Sera in 422.
Necromancy – Another term for death magic, and the only element that is banned across Chairel.
Nemesis – The goddess of vengeance. Kai's maternal grandmother. Murdered by her son Malgor in the Golden Era.
New Moon – The season of spring. 90 days in length. First season of the year.
Nyx Sephtis – Former assassin. Wielder of dual daggers, throwing stars, and illusion magic. Member of the Seran Renegades. Full-blooded Alderi.
Orders of the Mages – The name that encompasses all of Sera’s mage armies, broken down into different Orders.
Queen Edrys – The ruler of Chairel. Has a regent in each of the four major cities. Resides in Comercio. Full-blooded human.
Queen Tilda – Former ruler of Eteri, assassinated in 428 by contract of Cyrus Anil. Succeeded by Kirek Sjors.
Raphael – The god of healing. Escaped with Terran Sera in the Battle of Hallmar of 428.
Ravage – The goddess of consuming.
Red Moon – The season of autumn. 90 days in length. Third season of the year.
Rek – The god of carnage and brutality.
Saffron Willis – Non-royal Celdic general. Negotiated for the Celdic withdrawal with Kai Sera in the Battle of the Southern Plains in 428.
Sedge Elwood – Eldest son of regent Vipin and father of Thorn. A Celdic elf of royalty from Celendar. Knight of Celendar. Wielder of sword, longsword, and life magic.
Sentinels – A title given to the prestigious war generals of Eteri's army and Fremont's army.
Seran Renegades – Group of rebels started by Kai Sera in the year 418 with the goal of taking over Sera and, by extension, all of Chairel.
Servis Ocean – The ocean which separates the continents of Arrayis.
Silas Galan – Kai Sera's former lover and bodyguard. A Celdic elf of royalty from Celendar. Current prisoner of war of the Seran Renegades.
Sirius Sera – Headmaster of the Seran University and regent of Sera. Wielder of air and life magic. Full-blooded human.
Terran Sera – Biological son of Sirius Sera, and heir to the Seran throne. Wielder of earth magic. Full-blooded human.
Theron Boa – The late friend of Kai Sera, killed during the Battle of the Dead in the year 418. Former member of the Seran Renegades.
Thorn Elwood – Grandson of regent Vipin and son of Sedge. A Celdic elf of royalty from Celendar. Dual caster of earth and water magic. Wielder of sword.
Underground - The nation beneath the earth of Arrayis. A land of underground caverns and tunnels. Home to the brutal Alderi assassins. Liberated in 420. Ally of the Seran Renegades.
Underground Liberation of 420 - The term used to describe the events of Water. Includes the release of hundreds of thousands of enslaved Alderi males through the forcible takeover of the underground by Calder Cerberius and the Seran Renegades.
Uriel Anemone – The second Fremont Sentinel. Life mage and wielder of spear and alteration magic. Lover of Hakan Ramses. Full-blooded Vhiri.
Varian – The god of change and alteration.
Visha – The god of poison.
Vhiri – Casually referred to as high elves. A highly magical race of elves known for their arrogance. Natives of Eteri.
Vipin Elwood – Celendar's regent and the head of the royal Celdic Elwood family.
War of Necromancers – The war started by Kai Sera and the Seran Renegades after her refusal to surrender to Chairel during the Battle of the Dead in the year 418. Devolved into a world war in 422 after Glacia's involvement.
Wildlands – A land of swamps, tropical forests, and wild beasts. Home of the beastmen. Ally of the Seran Renegades.
Zephyr Lian – The first Fremont Sentinel. Dual caster of life and air magic and wielder of chain-sickle. Half-breed of Vhiri and Icilic blood.
Ziarre – The goddess of the skies. Lover of Hades before leaving him for Emil (the god of envy, jealousy, and zeal) to mother the twins Ciro and Vertun. Left Emil to return to Hades. Murdered by the goddess Nemesis by Emil's jealous direction.
