Paranormal Encounters

They must have lain side by side for a few minutes before one of them spoke.

“Well…you don’t see that every day?” she said.

Johnny thought about it for a second and then started to laugh.

“You certainly don’t,” he eventually replied.

  Chapter 5

When Johnny awoke the following day Jenny was nowhere to be found, but she’d left a note on the front door.

“Gone to find supplies, will be back soon,” it said.

They’d had to sleep in a back room, as there were no covers over the main windows yet. Johnny straightened out the bedroom while he waited, and let his mind wander a little. After a couple of hours, Jenny still hadn’t returned.

He wondered how all of this would turn out, and whether they could ever escape the situation that they found themselves in. In hindsight he wished he’d never killed Scar now, but it was obviously too late for that sort of regret. That thought though reminded him of Pam, and it gave him a reason to go out into the night. He wanted to see if they’d left her alone, and that she was all right.

It didn’t take him long to get there, and as it was gone ten in the evening he fully expected to find her getting ready for bed as usual. The rooftop that he used to spy on her was still the same, but he couldn’t see into the apartment, as she didn’t have any lights on.

He ran and jumped from the edge of his building, only this time he made the clearing easily and landed squarely on top of her roof. Entering the building from the top was easy, and as he approached her apartment, he sensed something. Vampires…he immediately kicked the door in only to discover Pam standing just inside and waiting for him.

“We knew you’d return one day soon,” she said, looking around.

There were three more in the room, and he was too late, Pam had been turned.

“Before you try anything you should know that your woman is now our prisoner back at the lair, and we are under orders to kill her if you do not come back with us,” said a vampire stepping out of the shadows.

He’d made one big mistake; he’d told him where Jenny was. In that instant several things happened at once, first he got mad. It was more than just Jenny being taken captive though, it was because of a number of factors. One, they’d turned an innocent female, a female that he liked a lot, into a vampire. Two, they had his girl and nobody was going to harm her. Finally three, these vampires were pissing him off.

He could now feel the strength surging through his body, and as they stood there waiting for his response he made the first move. In a split second, he was on the first and twisting his head around until it snapped off and the body burst into flames. The others tried to converge on him at the same time, including Pam. Johnny took hold of the arm of one of them as he swung his fist towards him and spun him around so that his feet left the floor. Knocking the others down, he then stopped and slammed his hand through his chest. The ash fell to the floor, and while the other two regained their feet he hit the male making him smash into the far wall. Johnny then took hold of a chair leg, snapped it off and drove it into his chest before he could regain his composure.

As he burst into flames, Johnny looked around at Pam who was now standing and facing him.

“I never wanted this, I sought to protect you but I was too late. You could still go your own way and leave this all behind you,” he said, hoping that she would take the offer and go.

Unfortunately, whoever turns you has a strong influence on your behavior, and the one who must have turned Pam was probably now ash on the floor of her apartment. Needless to say, she didn’t take his advice, and instead tried to strike him with her full force. As he dodged away, he thought, ‘I’m sorry,’ and snapped her neck as she passed him before forcing his now talon looking hand through her chest. As she turned to dust, he held her, and watched the wretched procedure of how a vampire dies.

The dust fell to the floor, and a grim determination furrowed his brow. He left the apartment in a strong and violent frame of mind, heading for the lair that was once his home. It wasn’t far from that apartment and after taking out the two inexperienced vampires who were guarding the front door he kicked it in sending splinters and shards of wood flying in all directions.

They were waiting for him, with about fifty vampires in the room. At the end of the room he could see Jenny sitting in a chair with a knife to her throat, by someone he guessed to be the new leader.

“If you try anything I’ll kill the bitch,” said the Guy holding her.

Johnny scanned the room, needing to know what he was up against. Most of the vampires had weapons in their hands, and some were eager to attack. The rage was building inside him, and though he had doubts that he could take on so many vampires he knew that his rage would win out in the end. Whom should he take out first, and how best to protect Jenny? Those were the predominant questions coursing through his mind, and within seconds, the answer came to him.

One of the vampires had had enough of waiting for the attack order and threw a knife at him in a blur of motion he seized the knife out of the air before it struck and threw it in the direction of the leader. By the time the vampires that surrounded him looked around their leader was turning to dust and the knife that had struck his heart dead center was now falling out and onto Jenny’s lap.

The fight was on. Jenny took the knife and slew the vampire nearest to her, and then the room was suddenly a hive of activity. He had three coming towards him holding swords, and one by one, he dispatched them with nothing more than sheer speed and his newly found strength.

None of the vampires could come near to the speed with which he could move, so he had an unfair advantage and he used it to the best of his ability. He made sure he got near to Jenny next, in order to protect her, but she had taken his advice of earlier and was using the knife with a hit and run tactic.

Johnny now had a sword in his hand and was killing them with accuracy and speed, and then a sword passed through his shoulder blade making him falter and turn to see where it had come from. As he did so Jenny dispatched the culprit with her knife and his sword fell to the floor.

Within seconds, Johnny could feel the wound healing up, and felt lucky that it hadn’t been more accurate. With a flurry of activity later, the room was swamped with vampire dust, all intermingling with the next fallen victim until at last the final one fell to his blade.

They both stood back to back waiting for the dust to settle, and when it did, the room fell quiet. They both looked around the room, and saw no movement.

  “Is that it?” said Jenny.

“I think so, but I have one more thing to do before this is all over,” he replied, taking her by the hand and leading her out of there.

After dropping Jenny off, he told her he would be back before dawn and that she should stay there. She wasn’t happy about that, but he needed to know that she was safe. With that, out of the way he continued to travel over to the only other lair in the city. When he arrived, the Soothsayer was waiting for him.

“The leader has been waiting for you defect,” he said, with distain.

Johnny ignored his comment and followed him inside.

“Ah…our much talked about renegade vampire, so we finally get to meet. What can I do for you vampire?” said what was clearly their leader.

“I’ve just taken out my own lair, and when I didn’t see snowflake here,” he said, pointing to the Soothsayer who had to be the palest vampire he’d ever seen. “I figured he came from this lair originally, now I have a question.”

“Let me guess, you want to know if we will come after you. The answer to that is no we will not, we may from time to time lend out a valued member of our lair but we tend not to get involved with revenge if we can avoid it. You and your woman are safe from us, however you must know that there are other lairs in this country that have ties to the lair you have just destroyed and we cannot speak for them.”

“That’s all I needed to know, as for these other lairs it
might be wise for them to be told what I am capable of, for I wouldn’t want them to get you involved again.”

“I do hope that wasn’t a threat, it would be a shame to mar these talks with anything other than good intentions.”

“No threat, just an observation,” replied Johnny turning to leave.

He looked the Soothsayer in the eye as he passed him, watching him cower back a step before leaving the room. He felt sure that that was the last they would ever see one another again.

  Chapter 6

  The Bond

She slipped through the night silently, unseen by human eyes. Dressed completely in black in a leather bustier, skintight slacks and high heel boots that hugged the curves of her body, she was a young man’s wet dream. The swing in her hips was mesmerizing to watch and as she passed by the unseen voyeur sitting on top of the building, her footsteps stopped and caution appeared on her face. Oops, he’d gotten too close, it was time to retreat before she honed in on his presence. No sooner than he had the thought, he saw her body turn and in that instant, he was gone.

Michael ran swiftly through the night and with every second that passed, he drew away from her presence. Zig zagging across the roof tops he dropped to the street below and stopped in a secluded patch of trees in a playground, waiting to see if she had been quick enough to lock in on his escape route. Minutes passed, silently he waited, patience was the key and he didn’t want to scare her off before he had a chance to explain his presence in what was clearly her hunting ground. Time passed and when he next checked his watch two hours had gone by. He felt safe enough to emerge from the woods and headed back to his hiding place reminiscing on how he first met her.

A week before he had been running for his life away from his creator and the lair that had initially accepted him. When he arose from his death sleep, a ravenous hunger gripped him. The need was all consuming and his eyes were blinded by the blood lust when his creator placed in front of him his first meal. He could see nothing but the pulse in the victim’s neck and heard nothing but the heartbeat that fueled it when he jumped forward and sank his fangs deeply. He began to drink and gripped the offering closer when suddenly a terrible feeling came over him.

His insides were being torn in two and he fell off gasping for air as the blood that he had consumed began to revolt against his body. The master threw away the dying body of the man he had brought for his child and gripped his arms fiercely. His shouts and commands could not control the shuddering and heaving of the body he gripped so tightly. Each minute seemed an hour. When his reasoning began to return their eyes met…his with fear and the master’s with dismay and regret. It wasn’t every day that a vampire was born allergic to the blood he so desperately needed to survive.

This was a first for their lair, a vampire born who could not feed; the efforts to find someone, anyone, that Michael could feed off were exhausted. They tried young and old women, even younger and older men, and finally as a last resort took a sample of blood from an infant to see if that would work. Their patience was exhausted.

They were a progressive lair and had decided at the inception of the group that they would only feast on criminals and the dregs of society. If necessary, they would feed on the good, but just enough to keep them going, never to kill or turn. Michael had been an exception in that he had been turned by accident. Now this, a vampire that couldn’t feed, who’s very consumption of human blood made him sick to the point of death.

He must be destroyed and by the vampire who created him. James didn’t want to kill him but he had no choice. He had to follow the decision of the lair’s leader Falcon or forfeit both their lives. Michael sensing what was about to happen broke free of the group and fled into the night. James followed after and wrestled with his conscience as he watched the distance between them increase. He stopped and bowed his head overcome with regret and despair knowing that the end would be painful. James looked at his vanishing creation and turned back to face his own dilemma.

  Chapter 7

Michael wandered the endless nights, his hunger growing. He soon became desperate from the pain and weakness of his thirst and after many days had passed, he made the decision to meet the sun. He lay next to final death when a young woman happened upon him on the roof of a deserted building. He looked up to see a vision before him and wondered if he was hallucinating before he suffered the final death because surely she must be an angel. The long blonde hair and moss colored eyes were exposed by the moonlight falling down on the rooftop. His thoughts as his eyes closed were confusion and dismay as he felt himself being dragged along the roof. The screech of metal was painful to his ears as was the slamming of a door. He came too as droplets fell on his parted lips and his tongue lapped at the moisture. Blood? He tried to turn his head away but he was merely a husk by now and there was no strength left in his body. Her hands forced his mouth wider and the droplets from her wrist became a trickle. Awareness was slowly returning and he tried to stop her. He wanted to die; he wondered how a human knew of their kind and even more, why she was trying to help. He flapped his hands weakly to stop her, not wanting to experience the pain of his body rejecting the essence of life.

He did not realize that she was a vampire, until her soft murmurs cajoled him not to fight. His strength was slowly coming back; his skin previously dry and wrinkled like a raisin left to die on the vine began filling out again. The hollow sockets of his eyes began to fill in and he saw more clearly her face. His awareness brought her to a halt.

Jenny was crouched over the dying vampire when he began to return to life. She saw the questions, the awareness of what she was, suddenly fill his eyes. He was showing the first signs of filling out, quite nicely she thought as she gazed down. She stopped and wondered if she should speak. Jenny had placed herself in danger to help him; knowing that he was suffering from the same ailment as Johnny, would not save her if he attacked her in a feeding frenzy. Would he be able to stop if she gave him any more blood?

“My name is Jenny and I believe I know the cause of your illness and what is needed to save you. Do you understand me? If you cannot speak just nod your head yes or no.”

Michael slowly nodded his head yes in reply then fell back in exhaustion, but his eyes remained open and fixed on her face.

“My best friend Johnny suffers your illness, he is also a vampire and cannot feed on human blood as it makes him deathly sick. His body rejects it completely. Is that what has happened to you?”

Michael managed to raise his head enough to nod yes.

Jenny smiled. She would be able to help him. She explained everything to him. How Johnny wasn’t able to consume human blood and how an accident of fate led him to the discovery that he could drink a vampire’s blood to survive. How she herself had suffered because of their lifelong friendship, and how he turned her to save her life, when the pack of his former lair hunted him down to kill him. She went on to tell him how they were on the run and must keep moving to stay alive. She went on to promise she’d help him by giving him some of her own blood but that was it. She explained how Johnny had to kill every one of his former lair just to survive and how they feared retaliation when the other lairs found out. He must not follow her; they had enough problems trying to evade the other lairs.

Michael’s eyes grew larger with each word she uttered. She made him swear; promise he would not follow her if she helped him. He was so weary and grateful he would have agreed to anything she asked, if she would just help him. She shook him back awake and asked if he understood if he promised. He nodded his head yes, already knowing he was lying to the person who would save his life.

  Chapter 8

Jenny’s lips twisted into a wry smile, she would at least make it pleasurable for him and herself. She watched his eyes as she unlaced her bustier allowing the plump sides of her breasts to become visible. She became entranced by the look in his eyes as he followed her every movement until the moment that her pink rosy nipples came into view. His mouth parted in a s
light gasp as he realized how she intended to feed him. His eyes turned red with hunger and lust as he saw her breasts completely exposed inches from his face. They were creamy white and full to the point of bursting it seemed. Every lush inch was bared before his gaze and he grew faint with desire. He felt the last of the blood in his body descend to his cock as it began to swell at the very thought of his fangs piercing the feast before him.

Jenny watched the expressions crossing his face and felt the lips of her womanhood swell in anticipation and her nipples harden in excitement. She tenderly placed her hands around his head to bring him closer to her exposed breasts and offered the right nipple to him, saying, “Please be gentle.”

He closed his eyes and carefully held himself in check as he felt his fangs descend even further. He extended his tongue to lap fiercely at the tip before he suckled her into his mouth. Carefully he pierced her nipple and breast, and the rich flow of blood and her personal essence began to fill his mouth. He drank greedily.

Jenny’s hands gripped his face tightly in response to the overwhelming sexual response she was feeling. The tug and pull at her breast was exquisite and she wanted more. Her womanhood was readying itself for sex, the moisture weeping between her legs at the feel of his hands pulling her tighter.

Michael was consumed by lust. The taste and sight of her drew him closer and as the blood filled his body his strength began to return. He buried his hands into her hair and slipped one down to pry the zipper of her pants open. He had to have her, just like this, her breast-feeding him and his cock inside her.

She was lost in the pleasure of his touch. It had been so long since she’d felt this way. She and Johnny were more friends than lovers and in her mind; they didn’t quite connect that way. Yes, the sex had been good, but it was nothing like this. She felt faint from excitement when she felt his first probing into her body, by then it was too late. Shocked she couldn’t believe that she was naked, exposed to him. The hot full head of his cock met little resistance as it primed itself on her body’s moisture. She felt his fullness at her entrance and as she tried to stand, her widen stance gave him complete entry. He slid into her depths and groaned with the pleasure of her heat and wetness. He grew longer and wider with each pull at her breast until the fit of his cock in her began to meet resistance. He drank and filled out completely until the fit was so snug she cried out in pleasure.
