“Oh, I know that. I told dad that wasn’t going to happen, at all. Just like little Miss Monica’s days are numbered.”

Dream chuckled but didn’t respond. She didn’t want to spend her day with her favorite girl discussing Carmelo or Monica, so she said nothing.

The two shopped in silence until Dream noticed the look Summer was giving her. She knew that look all too well.

"Spit it out, Summer," Dream told her.

"How you know I have something to say?" Summer laughed.

"Because I know you, so just ask away," Dream urged her.

"How long did it take you before you knew you loved my dad? Like, you knew for sure that you were really in love with him and not just infatuated?" Summer asked.

"Whew, girl! You just went deep on me. Okay, umm, let me see," Dream sighed. "I knew I was in love with Carmelo when I seen the good as well as the bad in him but I still wanted to be with him. There were days where my whole day would be completely thrown off if I didn't talk to him. I knew for sure I loved him when I couldn't imagine my life without him," Dream informed her.

Summer stood there with a bright smile on her face. She loved hearing love stories.

"Why? Let me find out you got some puppy love going on," Dream accused with a raised eyebrow.

"What? Oh no, you don't have to worry about that. My dad would shut that down before I could even form the thought." Summer shook her head.

Dream laughed. "I'm happy you know that."

"No, but I was just trying to figure out how two people that obviously love each other and are in love with each other, can not be together."

Dream sighed as they walked out of the store they were previously in. Dream led the way to a seat where she and Summer could sit down and talk.

"Sum, look, I understand that you're all for team Dream and Carmelo, but that's not us right now. I'm not going to sit here and act like I don't love or care for your dad because I do, but I already told you that some things might never be the same between us," Dream explained.

"Yea, I know you keep saying that but I just refuse to believe that. You and my dad have been through too much together to just let it go. Do you know how he felt when he woke up from that coma and swore he was in a relationship with you and he didn't even know you? Then he turned around and actually met you. That wasn't just a coincidence. You two met for a reason so I need for you two to get it together because me and CJ need our parents together," Summer told her in a matter-of-fact tone.

Dream was about to respond but a voice stopped her in her tracks.

"I see Carmelo still got this bitch trying to play mommy to my daughter."

While Summer was rolling her eyes, Dream snapped her head around when she heard the word 'bitch'. She chuckled a little when she saw Alexandria standing there looking as stupid as she was.

"Ma, just let it go. Don't even dignify that with a response," Summer said, trying to defuse the situation before it could even start.

"Ma? Summer, this bitch is not your mother, I carried you for nine months and birthed you," Alex spat.

"And that's all your trifling ass did!" Dream said as she got up.

She was going to just let this one ride but Alex had called her out of her name twice already, so the next time she was going to punch this deadbeat bitch right in her mouth. Plus, she remembered the last time Alex tried to step to her in her boutique when she first found out she was pregnant.

"Just because you birthed her don't mean shit. Your deadbeat ass ain't shit but an egg donor. You disappeared on your so-called daughter and didn't come back until she was sixteen. Who the hell does that? On top of that, you had her damn uncle thinking he was her father when you knew the whole time Carmelo was her father."

Alex was so mad that you could literally see the steam coming from her ears. She didn't appreciate Carmelo discussing his business with his bitch.

"Dream, mom, you know she's not worth it. You're way too classy to be stooping down to her level," Summer said.

"Summer Love! I'm not going to tell you again. She is not your mother!" Alex yelled.

"Alexandria, I'm trying to be nice. I really am, but you better watch how you talk to my child."

"Fuck you, bitch!" Alex said before spitting a wad of spit in Dream’s face.

Dream completely blacked out as she wiped her face. Summer stood there in shock as she watched Dream hit Alex with a three piece that ended with an upper cut. Alex fell to the ground and Dream got on top of her as she continued to punch her in her face.

Alex tried to swing back but she was no match for Dream. Dream was releasing all her frustrations on Alex. Her being raped, having CJ prematurely, leaving Carmelo, Carmelo being with Monica. Everything that she had been keeping pent up was being taken out on Alex's face. The bitch should have left her alone.

The next thing Dream knew, she was being picked up roughly and being thrown in handcuffs.

When she snapped back to reality, she looked down at Alex's bloody face then her eyes traveled to Summer. She was staring at Dream while on the phone with whom she assumed to be Carmelo. Dream shook her head because she never expected for things to go that far but when Alex spit on her, she snapped.

The next few hours for Dream went by in a blur. She was sitting in the holding cell staring into space when it was announced she made bail. She got up and walked out of the cell. Since she left her purse and bags with Summer, she didn't really have any belongings.

When she got outside, Carmelo was leaning up against his truck and he didn't look too happy. She knew he was going to chew her ass out by the way his jaw muscles kept flexing. She stepped in front of him like a child that was about to be scolded by her parent.

"If we wasn't in front of the police station, I would knock your ass out. I highly doubt you'll be beating my ass," Carmelo told her and she believed him.

  "But Melo—”

"But Melo, my ass. Just get in the fucking car, Dream!" he barked.

Dream mumbled under her breath as she walked around the truck to get in the truck. When they got in, Carmelo sped away while shaking his head.

He sighed and ran his hand down his face. "Summer told me everything that happened. She should've got her ass whooped for spitting and that ass whooping was long overdue, but I'm not excusing the shit you did. Fractured jaw and broken nose, Dream? Who the fuck you think you are? Mayweather?"

"I didn't mean to do all of that, Carmelo. I just snapped. The only thing I regret is that Summer had to see me show my ass," Dream told him.

"Dream, you're a mother now so you have to start thinking rationally. How do you think CJ would feel if I had to tell him that his mother was locked for murder but she didn't mean to do it, she just snapped?" Carmelo.

"Melo, I get it, alright? Can you please just take me to my baby so I can go home?" Dream asked.

Carmelo ended the conversation right there. Dream knew what he was saying was right but she didn't want to hear all that right now. She did what she did and now it was over. She bet Alex would think twice before she stepped to her ever again. People always underestimated her because she was pretty, not knowing that she was really a beast with her hands. Growing up an only child, she had no choice but to learn how to defend herself.

  Chapter Nineteen

Summer stood in her window with her baby brother propped up on her chest and watched as Dream climbed in her car and disappeared. She looked down at CJ and nearly cried. The way Dream and Carmelo were living and behaving wasn’t the life she wanted for her brother. Summer knew all too well how it was growing up with one parent. Yes, she had Caiden, Carmelo, and her grandparents, but still only one parent. She didn’t want that for CJ and that’s exactly how she saw things ending up. For the moment co-parenting worked, but Summer knew that sooner or later, one would grow tired and they would split indefinitely. There wasn’t a way to split her or CJ, so in her mind, one of them would get Carmelo and one would get Dream. Which would get which was obvious.

  CJ
opened his eyes and let out a soft whine. Summer gently bounced his as she walked away from the window and out of her bedroom in search of her father.

“Shh, baby brother. I’m not going to put you down,” Summer cooed to CJ.

He was extremely spoiled. If he wasn’t in somebody’s arms or in his swing, he was fussing. Summer didn’t mind because she loved holding him and hated when he wasn’t around.

“He sleep?” Carmelo asked, when he spotted Summer walking into the living room.

  She nodded her head.

“Dad, I need to speak to you.”

Carmelo leaned forward from his slouching position. “What’s up, baby girl?”

“Alone,” Summer said before looking over at Monica and cutting her eyes.

Carmelo sighed and released a nervous chuckle before getting up from his seat and following Summer back upstairs to her room.

“Do I even want to know what this is about?” he asked as he closed the door behind them

Summer gave it to him straight without a chaser. She explained how she felt about them living separately.

“Besides living in separate houses, I feel like we neglecting her, Dad.”

Carmelo didn’t understand how they could be neglecting Dream when she was the one who left. Summer broke it down, though. Neither of them knew the exact story of what happened when she was kidnapped. They just knew that she wasn’t the same. Summer knew something had to go down that turned Dream into the person she had become and instead of her and Carmelo at least pretending to understand and trying to be there for her, they let her go. Leaving her to face whatever demons she was facing alone. Once she fully explained her theory, it all started to make sense to Carmelo. He agreed that he could have done a little more to help Dream transition back to being home. He was just so used to her voicing how she felt that when she didn’t, he assumed she didn’t need him.

“She needs us, Dad. We need her, too, believe it or not. Monica has to go. Even if Ma never comes back, you can’t get her back by parading around your ex-girlfriend. It’s tasteless and petty. No, I don’t like her, but this is deeper than that. I know you love Ma. I know that if she showed up on our doorstep right now saying she wants to come home, you would take her in. How fair is that to Monica? You’re using her to fill a void when all you have to do is show Ma that you are there. I’m almost sure she’ll come back.”

CJ stretched his arm out and whined before breaking into a full-out cry. Summer looked at him and shook her head. His eyes were still closed which meant he was probably having a bad dream. She leaned down near his ear and softly whispered, “I’m right here, baby brother. Stop crying. I love you.” And just like that, his crying ceased.

Carmelo walked up to Summer and kissed her forehead.

“What would I do without you?” he asked her.

The question was definitely rhetorical, but of course, Summer Love had an answer. “You would be lost, Dad. Completely lost,” she laughed.

Melo knew that everything Summer had said had made sense. He also knew that he would do anything to have his Dream back. It started with being completely honest with Monica and allowing her to live her life. It was unfair of him to have her put her life on hold to be there for him, when he was one hundred percent certain that nothing would ever come of it. He had to let her go.

After taking a long, hot shower to relax his hind as well as his muscles, Carmelo walked out of the bathroom followed by a cloud of steam. With the towel wrapped around his waist, he sat on the bed and fell back with his arm over his eyes. So much had been going on lately that he didn’t even have time to think straight anymore.

He was still trying to figure out his situation with Dream. He could act like he didn’t miss her all he wanted to and the thought of her being with another nigga didn’t really fly too well with him, but there was nothing he could do. He was a man with pride and his pride wouldn’t let him ask her to come home, especially since it was so easy for her to leave in the first place.

Monica walked in the room and shook her head at Carmelo. He had never been the type to mope around and be in the dumps over a bitch so she was going to have to put his mind at ease. She walked over to the bed, climbed on him and straddled his lap.

“I can help you with that,” she said.

“With what?” he asked, without looking at her.

“With this,” she said as she unwrapped the towel and took his member into her hands.

Carmelo let out a soft moan and instantly got hard at the feel of her touch.

“Oh shit,” Carmelo said as he felt his dick hit the back of Monica’s throat.

His hand went to the back of her head as she sucked him off like she didn’t have any teeth. One thing he always loved about Monica was the fact that she didn’t have any gag reflexes. She had a head game that would put Superhead to shame. Monica wanted to pat herself on the back when she saw Carmelo’s toes curling, just like back in the day. She knew exactly what to do to please him.

Bet that Dream bitch can’t do this, she thought as Carmelo pushed her head all the way down before releasing his kids down her throat. Quickly massaging his dick to make it hard again, she removed her pants and straddled his lap again.

“Damn,” she moaned as Carmelo stretched her to capacity.

It had been years since the last time she and Carmelo had been intimate and it seemed as if his dick had grown over the years. Carmelo’s hands found their way to her hips as she slowly rotated her hips and rode him. Carmelo switched positions and flipped her over. He wasn’t trying to be on the love making shit with her. He just needed to bust a quick nut.

“Aw, damn!” Monica yelled out as Carmelo picked up speed.

“Shut the hell up before Summer hears you.”

Monica felt as if she was about to pull her hair out. She didn’t understand how he wanted to be quiet but he was pounding on her g-spot unmercifully. To keep from yelling out again she was biting down on her lip so hard she could literally taste blood. The only thing she could do was dig her nails in his back.

Carmelo could feel his second nut building up so he quickly pulled out before turning her on her stomach and diving back in with force. Monica had her head buried in the bed, biting the sheets because it felt so good. One of Carmelo’s hands grabbed a handful of her hair while the other hand was on her hips as he went in balls deep.

He could feel her raining down on him before she collapsed on the bed. He pulled her hair back to let her know he wasn’t done with her yet. A few minutes later, he felt himself about to reach his peak. He continued to pump in and out of her until he released his seeds inside her. He was so backed up that his body shook and it felt as if he was releasing buckets.

He plopped down on the bed and laid there for a few minutes, catching his breath. When he finally decided to get up, he looked over to his left and shook his head at the fact that Monica was out cold.

“That’s what good dick will do for you,” he boasted as he went to take another shower.

  Chapter Twenty

Summer happily bounced down the stairs as she went to the front door to open it for Dream and her brother. She had convinced Dream to come over so they could plan her seventeenth birthday party. Of course, Summer could have easily gone over to Dream’s house so they could plan, but she had an ulterior motive.

She needed for Monica to realize that no matter what Dream and her dad went through, Dream would always be around. It took a whole lot of pleading and begging from her to get Dream to come over but in the end she won, just like she knew she would.

“Hey, Ma. Hey, baby,” Summer cooed as she took her brother from Dream.

“Alright, Summer Love. What are you up to?” Dream asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Huh? What you talking about, Ma?” Summer asked, feigning dumb.

“Huh, my ass. You know exactly what I’m talking about, little girl. You know you could have brought your little ass over to my house for this. You think
you’re slick, but I’m on to you,” Dream told her.

Summer stood there with a goofy smile on her face. She knew she couldn’t pull one over on Dream. She always could see right through her.

“Okay, you got me. Let’s go to my room where you can paint my nails while we discuss and then I can tell you how I want my dress.”

“Uhh, where’s your dad and his bi—”

  “Ma!” Summer laughed.

“Ugh, I’m sorry.” Dream shook her head. “Let’s go. You got me showing out already.”

Two hours later, the two ladies were moving around the kitchen cooking while CJ slept in the bouncer Melo had there for him. Dream was supposed to be gone an hour ago but she had somehow let Summer talk her into staying and cooking for her. The two were so caught up in laughing and joking that they didn’t even notice Carmelo standing there watching them.

This was bringing back memories for him. Two of his favorite girls in the kitchen just like they used to be when everything was all good between him and Dream. A couple of times he felt his dick twitch as Dream’s ass moved and bounced in the leggings she had on. Having CJ had really enhanced some her assets. Feeling another presence behind him, he turned to see Monica with a screw face on.

He heard his son whining so he left for the living room to get him. Dream turned around to find Monica standing there. Her first thought was to just leave but then she quickly tossed that thought out of her mind.

  “Problem?” Dream asked.

Summer just stood there silently praying that Dream would smack the shit out of Monica because it was long overdue.

“I’m just trying to figure out why you’re here,” Monica said.

“Why are you here?” Dream threw at her.

“Because Melo wants me here, that’s why.”

“I doubt it,” Summer said under her breath where only Dream could hear her.

“Ehh, if you say so.” Dream shrugged.

Carmelo walked back into the kitchen with his son in his arms. Those two were twins, Carmelo couldn’t deny him even if he wanted to.
