“I have to know what was bothering you,” he whispered in her ear.

“I had a crazy daydream… Caiden showed up and shot me. He killed me. I watched you cry over my…”

Tears started to fall again and Carmelo didn’t want to hear it anymore. He was tired of seeing his Dream in pain. He wanted that all left in the past.

“Stop crying. You don’t have to worry about that, Dream. I promise, I will never let someone hurt you again. Don’t worry about that.” He kissed her tears away.

Dream believed every word Carmelo told her and decided to leave the past where it was. Following their wedding, they immediately boarded a flight to Turks and Caicos where they spent the best seven days of their lives. Neither Carmelo nor Dream wanted the honeymoon to end, but they couldn’t wait to make it back home to their kids.

Of course, Carmelo and Dream’s lives wouldn’t be their lives if a lemon wasn’t tossed in every now and then. The lemon that waited for them was bittersweet. They returned to the news of Caiden’s body being found with a suicide note. It was bitter for them both because they had to deal with the pain they knew Summer was in even though she tried to pretend she was okay. At the end of the day, he raised her, and was her father until she was sixteen. Regardless of the wrong he had done, she was still affected by his death. On the same token, it was sweet because they could finally say that all of their demons had been laid to rest, and rest assured that they could move forward without someone from their past popping up. Carmelo even decided to leave the game. Not because Dream pressured him to, but because he saw what it did to his family, and to him it just wasn’t worth it. Not everybody was lucky enough to have their dream girl, and he had all that and more.
