The Raunchy Ranch

Love on the Ranch
Renee had been married for 15 years before her husband had been killed in a freak accident. She had held that flame that kept the home fires burning for the last 3 years. She had cattle to show at the local rodeo. She never knew that showing a few bulls would bring a rider into her world that would take her for longer than a 8 second ride. Renee would risk her heart of the past to bring forth love of the future on a lone cowboy whose life had only consisted of riding bulls, hard liquor and wild women. Would she be willing to bet the ranch on a new chance at love?
Memories
Renee looked at the memory book. Her tears fell freely as she remembered what she and Chet had. It was a story book wedding and marriage and then he was gone and she was left with the memories in the book and the children they had. She always pulled the memory book out on their anniversary. They had gotten married on Valentine’s Day so that they would never forget the love that they had. She wiped the tears away with the back of her hand as she remembered the last holiday they had together before he had the accident in the Gorge.
She sniffled as she remembered how he brought home blue roses and a new horse named Rosie. She rode Rosie everyday just to remember Chet. The roses were still the vase that they were placed in when she got them. She looked around the living room and everything reminded her of him. She could not let go of what they had. Her friends Abby and Anna wanted Renee to come out of her shell. Renee had focused completely on the ranch that was now hers.
Her life was full of her children’s lives, animals and crops. She had schedules that had to be taken care of, employees to take care of and a house to keep up. She had put off Abby and Anna long enough. They were headed out on Friday, Anna had even gotten her daughter, Cheryl to take Ralph, Breana and Kyle out to go bowling and go to the movies after. That way Renee would relax as they went to the Rodeo. She knew the kids really did not want to go to the Rodeo since their dad had passed.
This year Renee also had to show her bulls for breeding possibilities. She had the pedigrees and the work hands had agreed to help to show them. She did not want to sell them, just their seed. That was one thing about the ranch, their bulls were the best breeders around and when Chet was alive, that breeding kept the ranch afloat many years. Renee was much like the kids and did not want to go to the Rodeo after Chet passed, however it was something she had to do to stay alive.
Standing up she went to her room and looked at the outfit that Abby had helped her pick out. It was a jean dress that flared out, white boots and matching hat. She looked in her jewelry box for earrings and a necklace to wear for the night. Sitting on the edge of her bed, she knew that Friday was not that far away. She heard her door open. Breana looked around the door.
“Mom,” she started to come in and waited. Renee motioned her to come sit beside her on the bed. “you know daddy would want you happy.” Breana put her hands around Renee’s thin waist.
“I know hun.” Renee sighed and ran her hand through Breana’s sandy hair. “I want you to have a good time Friday with the boys and Cheryl. Don’t be too much trouble.”
“Us, never.” Breana teased and hugged Renee tight.
“Yes, all three of you.” Renee teased back. “I don’t want any phone calls that the bowling alley has been burned down or a fire alarm pulled at the theater.”
“Mom, that was years ago.” Breana replied remembering when Ralph pulled the alarm at store and created chaos. Ralph said he wanted to find out how fast the police and fire department would get there. He was grounded for 3 months and had to do community service after that. Renee remembered it well and never let any of the kids forget. Now is was almost the family joke before anyone went out.
“Night mom.” Breana got up and headed back to her room. “I need a ride to school Friday remember. Science fair.”
“I know, I know.” Renee threw a kiss to Breana with her hand. “It is written on every calendar on the house and in my phone, my calendar on the phone, and so on and so forth.”
“Well, I didn’t want you to forget.” Breana smiled and left the room. “And Friday is a busy day for everyone here, especially you.”
“I am just showing a bull, no big deal.” Renee said back. “Done it longer than you have been alive.”
“Yeah, but you haven’t done it alone for a long time mom.” Breana said back. “And who knows who you might find to stud him to, could be a sexy cowboy.” Breana stuck her tongue out.
“Breana, I think you are a little young to be discussing that with me don’t you?” Renee commented and rose her eyebrow.
“No, I think it is time you started to date and find someone who is going to make you happy mom.” Brea
na stated clearly. “After all, we eventually are going to grow up and you need someone to take care of.”
Renee looked at her daughter and smiled. She knew Breana was right of course, she just did not want to face that fact. It was a nightmare staring her in the face. She and Chet had been together for so long, she didn’t even know how to date anymore. Breana shut the door behind her and left her mom to think about the weekend.
“Night mom.” Breana said through the door. “I love you, Friday, Science Fair.”
“Night Breana, love you.” Renee said without looking up. She crawled into bed and hugged Chet’s pillow to her body. Finally falling into a fitful sleep, she saw herself at the rodeo with a man who was not Chet. His blue hazel eyes sparkled while he spoke to her and the Stetson covered his hair. She could not make much out of it, except he was rather handsome under that hat. When she woke to the alarm going off, she found that she was moister than normal between her thighs. She wondered who the man was in her dreams and was sure it was just a dream.
Rodeo Excitement
Everyone was running around the kitchen as Renee made her coffee. She had instructed for Silver to be separated from the heard and ready to go for the showing that night. Three were going to be plenty of men looking for a good stud and Silver was the best in the tri-state area. Abby and Anna were due around 10 am to help Renee get ready for the weekend. Their area was the first location that the Rodeo season began. It was important for Renee to have everything ready to show Silver.
“Breana, get your project in the truck.” Renee stated as she got her coffee ready to go. “Boys, help your sister.”
“Mom, really?” Ralph groaned and sighed.
“Yes, really.” Renee tussled his hair as he passed by. Out of the three kids, he looked the most like Chet. Kyle grabbed one of the boxes that held Breana’s science project. “Breana you are bringing all this home with Cheryl right?”
“Yes mom.” Breana grabbed the last box she needed for the project. She was setting her project up at the science fair. “You will be there right mom?”
“Breana,” Renee started looking over the coffee mug, “I do not think there is one thing in this house or in my purse that will not remind me to be there.” Breana smiled and chuckled as she headed out to the truck. Renee joined Ralph, Breana and Kyle in the truck. As they pulled up to the school, Renee noticed that there was a truck with a trailer there. She also noticed it came with Texas plates.
Getting out of the truck, the boys helped Breana carry in her project as Renee looked at the trailer. She saw there were two bulls inside. Knowing the rodeo grounds were not far off, she figured they were for the bull riding tonight. She smiled as she walked up to the trailer. She always admired healthy livestock. She didn’t notice him at first, he did notice her through the slats. Tipping his hat, he walked around the back of the trailer.
“Howdie ma’am.” He said as his boot toe kicked in the ground.
“Oh, hello.” Renee turned to face the stranger. She saw the belt buckle that covered most of his midsection. She knew the build, he rode bulls and probably broke a few women in his time. She held out her hand and looked up at him. His black Stetson covered his hair, just like in her dreams. Then he looked at her, the eyes, she knew the eyes already.
“I am Dutch.” He shook her hand. She felt a tingle go through her body when he smiled and his dimples came out.
“I am,” she caught her breath and pushed her dark blonde locks out of her face, “I am Renee. You must be in for the rodeo tonight Dutch.”
“Yes, ma’am.” He blushed. “That obvious?”
“Well it is either that or a rider is looking for his buckle.” She pointed to the metal he wore.
“Yup, am looking for one to replace it this weekend.” He looked between the slats and the two bulls.
“I haven’t seen you around the circuit before.” He commented. “Believe me I would have remembered.” He looked her up and down. She still looked good after 3 children and she knew that.
“Well I have not been on the circuit for a long time.” She winked.
“Are you going to be there tonight?” He asked with anticipation.
“Actually yes.” She commented as she noticed Breana coming back out of the school. “I have to go.” She shook his hand again.
“I will look for you.” He commented as he got into the cab and turned the engine. He watched her as she hugged Briana and kissed her on the forehead. He had traveled the circuit for the last 5 years and had never seen her here and he knew he would have spotted her in a second.
“Come on Dutch, we got to go.” Dan got in the cab with Dutch. “Get your head out of your ass and your dick back in your pants. That’s Chet’s wife, forget it.” Dutch rose an eyebrow. He wanted to know more about her, he did not notice a ring and that was always the first thing he looked for. He only had one tumble in his life with a situation of a wife and a husband and that was a bull by the horns he never wanted to take again. As the truck pulled out of the driveway of the school, Dan hollered out.
“See you tonight Renee and Bre.” He waved. They looked at him and Breana stuck her tongue out at Dan, Renee waved. Dan had grown up down the road from Renee and Chet and was not there when the accident happened, he had worked on the ranch to help Renee keep the stock and crops going for the last 2 years of High School then he went on the circuit like his dad did.
Dutch and he had met in Texas where Dutch was from. They instantly hit it off and had been connected by the hip since. Dan felt Dutch hit him in the arm.
“Come on, that is my riding hand.” Dan looked over at Dutch.
“She is married?” Dutch stated without taking his eyes off the road to the corrals to unload the two bulls. “You sure.”
“Well she is a rancher’s widow if you must know the truth.” Dan spatted as they got out of the truck and began to unload the bulls. “No you mind yourself and go after one of the small town girls at the bar. You won’t find Renee at one in a million years.”
“Widowed huh?” Dutch was only 24, however he was ready to find the woman that would make him happy. He was getting a bit old for the circuit in his mind and wanted to go home and take care of his family’s ranch.
“Dutch, you best keep your mind on tonight.” Dan commented. “Ben is going to be here with Sidewinder.”
“Doesn’t mean I will draw the beast.” Dutch commented as he got Mr. Money out of the trailer and led him to the holding pen. The hand took the lead and walked Mr. Money to his pen to lock him in.
“Every time Sidewinder shows up, you draw him.” Dan looked at him. “You will get him. Just be prepared.”
“Well then I will just have to get that buckle won’t I?” Dutch muttered as all he could think about was Renee. He had seen her before in his thoughts. He knew she was who he was looking for.
“Well get your mind off that filly and back to the work at hand.” Dan commented, “You need the money rather than another buckle that will cover your belly.”
“Speaking of which,” Dutch started, “let’s get some chow.” They walked off to find the tent with food and talked along the way.
8 Seconds
Things moved quickly during the day and Renee barely had time to get ready with everything to do. Abby and Anna helped her get ready for the night. She didn’t talk about meeting Dutch. She did not want to jinx any chance with him before it even started. They knew something was up.
“Well Cheryl will have the kids overnight, so you are going to the bar with us tonight.” Anna finally stated as the trio packed the cab with what they needed.
“You didn’t tell me Dan would be in tonight Anna.” Renee finally said as they got in the truck.
“Well it was bound to happen he would have to ride in his hometown.” Anna said as she shut the door and they left to go to the night’s events.
“I see.” Renee stated. “Well we should have a barbeque tomorrow to celebrate him finding his way home from Texas.”
“Sure, however let’s have it Sunday.” Anna agreed. “I plan on waking up with a hangover and a Stetson that is not my own in my bed.” She laughed. Out of the three, Anna was the one who would pick up cowboys at the rodeo and take them home to ride.
“Works for me.” Abby finally said. “I mean the barbeque, not the Stetson and hangover. Bill is enough for me. That man still looks good in his chaps.” They all laughed as they met with Hank at the stockade. He was unloading Silver.
“Make sure you get a good deal for his donation.” Renee told him. He had a vested interest in the breeding of Silver because Renee had agreed to help split the stud fee.
“Yes Miss Renee.” Hank tipped his hat and started to walk away. “Miss Renee, there is a young man looking for you so I have heard.” Renee’s heart skipped a beat as she was hoping that it was Dutch.
“A young man?” Anna questioned. Renee waved her off.
“Oh, someone has a secret admirer.” Abby bumped into Renee as they walked towards the arena. The opening show was about to begin. They found their seats. As the rodeo went on through the night, Renee looked for Dutch and did not see him. That was until the announcer came over the sound system.
“And now riding Sidewinder, the Texan that calls himself simply Dutch.” The voice boomed. "Now this young man has been in rodeo for a long time, this is his last year we were just told tonight.” Renee sat up and watched as Dutch settled himself in the chute on the bull called Sidewinder. She knew of this bull. Since he was sired, he had only been ridden 4 times for the full 8 seconds. She clasped her hands together as the gate was opened after Dutch nodded his head.
“Now Sidewinder has kicked off all but one rider in his lifetime.” The announcer continued. “And ladies and gentleman you are looking at that one rider. Seems they have quite the Texas two-step going on.” The buzzer sounded after what seemed like forever. Renee saw why the bull was called Sidewinder, he only seemed to move sideways and Dutch seemed to know how manage that movement. As Sidewinder was distracted by the clown in the ring, Dutch worked his way off the massive bull finally getting his hand free.
