“Course I can. I know plenty of people. Rich people. Who is interested in you and throwing their cash at you.”

“Gosh, you make it sound like I’m a stripper,” I mumble.

He laughs hoarsely. “You in for the underground shit, too?”

  “Hell yeah!” I exclaim.

Now I can finally quit my shit job!

“Glad to hear you happy, kid.” I can practically see his gold teeth as he beams at me.

“Yeah, thanks.” I end the call and excitedly slap against the leather wheel and shout. I can’t believe this. Not only am I going to live out my dream of stepping into the UFC ring, but I am going to be regularly doing what I love every week—fighting. Things could not get any fucking better. I am so pumped to tell Liv! And throw my tie at Harvey’s face when I quit.

Actually…I don’t want to go back there. Ever again.

I dial his number as I spot and drive into a parking slot.

  “H-hello?” Harvey answers.

“Guess what, Harv?” I smirk, stepping out of the car and jumping merrily onto the sidewalk.

“Um, w-what?” he stutters. The fucker’s most likely tugging at his collar like a monster’s going to gobble him up at any second. Oh, wait…

“I quit, motherfucker.” I chuckle, bringing my head back in laughter. I saunter into the building and add, “Oh, and I know you pissed yourself scared when you interviewed me.” I end the call and bark in laughter, gaining the attention of some snooty people with briefcases.

“Excuse me, I need to see an ID,” a tall man with a bored expression says, holding up his hand.

  I scoff. “No, you don’t.”

I try to walk through, but he steps in my way and sighs like I’m tiring him out.

“Sir, if you don’t show me you belong here, I’m gonna have to ask you to leave.” He speaks as slow as a sloth and looks like one, too.

“I’m just here to take my girlfriend out for lunch, so if you will—” I smile sarcastically.

I try to step to the side, but he follows me and takes one forward.

“Sir, I’m asking you to leave now.” He sounds irritated.

“Fuck that!” I look around wildly for an actual security guard that isn’t eight hundred years old with the ability to take me down. But I find one better. “Michael!” I scream. The guy Liv was chatting with during the summer is walking toward the elevator. The dude is wearing a freaking sweater vest. A fucking sweater vest! My God.

He doesn’t look back as he presses the elevator button and waits.

I roll my eyes. I never did learn his correct name, because I didn’t fucking care to. “Dude that knows Olivia Westerfield! Turn the fuck ‘round, man!”

He whips around and looks confused, pouting. “Grey? What are you doing here?”

“Why should I tell you?” I ask, annoyed, and glance at the security guard eyeing me down. “Tell this guy I can go up to her.”

“Hank, it’s okay. Let him through,” Mitchell says.

Hank huffs but takes a step back. “Just this once.”

“Just this once,” I mock him, making up my face.

He glares at me, and I wink at him before jogging to the open elevator Morgan is holding open for me.

“Thanks,” I mutter, stepping back as the doors close.

“No problem.” He grins at me, and I am blatantly reminded of how much of a nerd he is. He actually looks like SpongeBob SquarePants with glasses. It’s ridiculous. Does he know what he looks like?

“So can I ask why you’re here?” he asks.

“No.” I face the elevator doors.

He chuckles, pushing his glasses up his nose. “You’re quite rude, aren’t you?”

“You quite look like Jake from State Farm, don’t you?” I mock his “polite” voice, and he laughs again. Why is he okay with me making fun of him? Why am I smirking at him because of it? Ugh.

“I’m sure Liv will be glad to see you,” he says after a few seconds of silence.

  “Duh.” I shrug.

He smiles and shakes his head. “She’s been a tad stressed, trying to understand the work and everything. You’ll relieve the tension, I think. Plus I think she’s having some trouble, considering you know what…” He clears his throat, and I raise a brow.

  “Yes, I do.” The incident.

The elevator finally comes to a stop after what feels like a million years.

He steps out, and I follow him. I look around at the all-white scheme and high-tech shit. This place is definitely better than the place I worked at.

“Delilah, h-hey,” he says, suddenly stopping. I almost bump into him.

I step to the side and look a cute blonde up and down. Not my taste; she isn’t Liv.

“Who’s this?” I ask, tilting my head.

She smiles at me and blushes. “I’m Delilah, Garrett’s assistant.”

“Who the fuck is that?” I scoff. Sounds like a name you’d give your pet squirrel.

“Our boss,” Miguel explains, voice jittery.

I follow his eyes to the girl who is shamelessly checking me out.

Oh…he likes her. But she does not know, with the way she’s looking at me.

“Stop it,” I tell her, and she blushes, glancing at Manuel’s obvious gushing smile. I roll my eyes. “Any one of you can point me to Liv’s desk?”

  Danielle or whatever frowns. “Who?”

“Olivia Westerfield,” I say with a sigh.

This is boring, and I want to see my girl already.

“Right. Follow me.” She nods and turns around.

I shake my head at Marshall. “Never in a million years, bud.” I pat his shoulder, and he frowns, blushing. He scurries away, and I laugh. I follow the girl to a large glass room. I spot my girl sitting behind a huge desk, eyes trained toward her computer, her mouth moving. Well, damn…I didn’t expect this. A cubicle, maybe. But an office of her own? Color me damn impressed.

The “D” girl knocks before opening the tall door.

“Olivia, a…” Blondie glances at me.

“Grey,” I grumble. I step through the door, and she bows her head before backing out, shutting the door behind her.

“Grey!” Liv beams up at me, shooting up to her feet. She rounds the desk and jumps into my arms.

“Princesa.” I catch her in my arms and rock her from side to side. I finally pull back and peck her lips but do it again and stay a little longer. I’ve missed these lips, and other ones…“You didn’t tell me you’re a hotshot,” I tease as she pulls away, and I look around, stunned by the view of downtown her office has.

She blushes, fiddling with my charm. “Yeah, that was what I wanted to tell you on the phone. My boss gave me this office.”

“Fucking sick,” I mutter as I glance at the leather couches, large white rug, and coffee table. I look back at her; she is perched on her glass desk, cheeks pink and reddened lips pursed. “Proud of you, babe.” I walk over to her, and she blushes some more. I splay my hands on the cool glass behind her, caging her with my body.

  “Thank you,” she whispers.

“I think it’s only right if I give you a congratulations present, don’t you?” I whisper haughtily, pecking her lips lingeringly, tender.

She moans and bites her lip, pulling away slightly. “You know what the doctor said. No sex.”

“Who said anything about sex?” I smirk, and her eyes widen.

  Chapter Five

  Liv

“What do you—?” I gasp, and my eyes widen as his smirk turns wicked. I feel my skin flush, and I shake my head. “Grey, no.” I splay my hands into his chest to push him away, but he just presses against them. I groan as he grabs my hips and lifts me onto my desk. I gasp and nervously look around. What is he doing? We can’t do anything sexually…I think. The doctor just said no sex. But he never said anything about other things…I won’t tell Grey that for obvious reasons. If he hasn’t noticed, we are in a glass-surrounded office, meaning anyone can walk by and s
ee us doing whatever his insane mind wants us to do.

“There are more ways to feel pleasure besides sex,” he says, voice low and raspy. “You’re my girl. You should know that better than anyone…” I bite my lip and feel myself grow wet as he kisses along my jaw, his beard scraping against my cheek. I giggle because it’s tickling me, and he smiles against my skin, pressing a tender kiss just under my ear, where my light laughter turns into a deep moan.

“See?” he continues, hands pushing my blue dress up my thighs. “You want me, but I won’t jeopardize your health. But I will show you how proud I am of you.” My breath hitches, and my chest aches as his rough fingertips massage my thighs, my dress bunched up at my hips. He stares at my lacy blue underwear, lust swirling in his dark eyes.

“But someone can come in at any time,” I try to defend, but my voice is shaky, my resolve slowly slipping.

“Oh, someone will be coming soon.” He lightly nibbles on my earlobe and whispers, voice hot, “You…”

“No, Grey.” I pull back. I can’t get caught in a compromising position. I would get kicked out of the program for sure.

“I think you mean yes, Grey.” He slides his hand in my panties, and I suck in a deep breath. “Fuck, you’re so wet for me.”

  “But—”

“Has anyone come to your office since you got it?” he asks, circling his thumb against my clit. I moan and grip his shoulders, too wrapped up in the overwhelming pleasure. It’s been forever since he last touched me like this. I forgot how freaking amazing it is.

“Liv, answer me.” He bites my neck gently, and I gasp, shaking my head.

  “N-no. But what if—”

“Shut up and let me taste you,” he grunts, and I am momentarily confused. But then he removes his hand, and I am cold. I frown and reach for him, but he smirks and picks me up and sets me on the ground. He turns me around and pushes me down on the table, bending behind me. I gasp as he drags my panties down my leg and holds my dress up. I bite my lip to keep from moaning as his mouth clamps around my dripping sex.

“Oh, Grey,” I moan, closing my eyes in bliss.

“Mmmm, you taste so fucking good.”

His tongue is slow as it circles me like he’s been hungry for me for so long and he wants to savor me. His warm, wet tongue presses into me, sliding, slipping, slowly caressing my sensitive bud. I moan and feel my limbs relax against his mouth. I circle my hips a little, and he smiles against me, amused by my greediness. But can he blame me? I’ve gone so long without his touch, his…tongue because he’s been so focused on my healing process and just so careful with me, too scared to break me. But I want him and everyone else to know that I am not on my death bed, that I am perfectly fine.

I almost scream his name when he slides a finger into me. He adds another before I can even get used to the first one. A little muffled yelp does leave my mouth when he pumps them in me, while his tongue swirls and lays flat against me. I move my hips more, desperate for his dangerous assault. I want more, so much more. I want him. But I can’t. I have no problem with this either, though.

“Grey, please.” I grip the edge of the glass desk, shivering from the cool surface beneath my upper thighs. I breathe roughly and moan as quietly as I can.

“Look who’s moaning now,” he grumbles as he rubs my clit while pumping his fingers faster, curling them and pressing them against my G-spot. I shudder and slap my hand across my mouth to keep from screaming out. “Doesn’t look so against being caught…I bet you’d like that, huh? The possibility of people finding out how bad of a girl you are.”

“Grey, I—” I am cut off and nearly scream my head off when he adds yet another finger, stretching me out in the best way.

“Do you like it, princesa?” he groans before picking up the speed of his fingers and tongue.

“Yes. Oh my gosh, yes, Grey.” I moan and bite so hard on my lip, I taste blood.

He smirks while his tongue swirls and swirls. “Such a naughty girl, and all mine.”

The pressure of utmost pleasure builds up to the point where I can’t take it anymore. I nearly scream my name, but luckily Grey’s hand reaches up and covers my mouth. I gasp as he sticks the three fingers that he wielded in me in my mouth.

“Taste yourself, princess, and keep quiet. Wouldn’t want someone to find you.” His voice is teasing, and I moan as I suck his fingers. “Holy shit.” His voice grows tight, and I blush as I imagine him hard.

I gasp for air when his bittersweet fingers leave my tongue. I stand up and turn around as he gets up, dragging my panties up as he does. He kisses me, hard. I moan against his tongue that is dripping with my release. He groans, and I am placed on my desk again, him between my parted legs. I grip his hair and tug him close by his collar. He doesn’t like the way he dresses for work, but I think he looks incredibly sexy in the button-down shirt. Even better with his sleeves rolled up and a few buttons open…

“I think we should get something to eat, don’t you?” he says, tipping my head back.

I bite my lip, suppressing my naughty thoughts. “You’re right.”

He smirks and trails a fingertip down my jaw. “Though I might not be able to eat much after the meal I just had.”

I flush and press my forehead against his hard chest. “Grey,” I groan, clutching his leather jacket.

He chuckles, swiftly kissing my hair. “For real, I have some big news I want to tell you over expensive-ass food that won’t compare to your puss—”

“Olivia, am I interrupting?” a loud, familiar voice booms behind us.

  Oh my God.

I jump off the desk, pushing past Grey and whirling around. “N-no, of course not. I’m sorry.”

Garrett chuckles and glances at Grey. “No, I’m sorry for interrupting.”

“Y-you weren’t.” I smile nervously. My heart is pounding dangerously hard and fast against my chest.

Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.

Grey frowns at me, confused, but thankfully doesn’t say anything. Anything he said would have no doubt worsened this. My boss catching me. Well, not really. If he had come two, even one minute earlier, I most definitely would be packing up my very little things.

“Right.” He clears his throat and nods, gazing between Grey and me. “Have a nice lunch.”

“Y-you too…” My voice is small as he backs out of the office and walks away. “My God. That was horrible.”

Grey shrugs. “Dude shouldn’t have barged in.”

“He could have caught us, Grey.” I throw my hands up in frustration.

“But he didn’t. Stop worrying, please.” He takes my hands and gently kisses my knuckles while staring at me with heavy emotion. “I don’t like to see you worry. You know what the doctor said about worrying or stressing yourself out.”

  “I know, but still—”

“Shhh,” he hushes me, a smile playing on his lips. “I have big news to tell you. I don’t want you worked up over this.”

  I sigh and shrug. “Fine.”

“Okay?” he prods, kissing my palm.

I shudder under his mouth’s gentle assault and grin. “Okay.”

  ***

Lily was right about the restaurant across the street. The food, the pasta especially, is incredible. You could tell by the fancy name: Jean Georges. And you can also tell how expensive the food is. I suggested we go to a diner or something, but Grey insisted we eat well since he has huge news I just have to know.

“Are you ready to hear the best thing in the existence of mankind?” Grey asks, eyes hooded and lips turned up in a wide, dimpled grin.

“Kind of dramatic, but I am as ready as I’ll ever be.” I laugh and cough a little. He watches me as I cough into a napkin, but I gesture for him to speak. I’ve been having little coughing fits recently, but it’s probably just the fall weather messing with me.

He waits a few seconds, then blurts out, “I got into UFC!”

I gasp, and my eyes widen in shock. “Oh my God…really? Ca
de finally got back to you?”

He rolls his eyes, but his excited smile doesn’t go away. “Finally. I thought I was gonna have to castrate the fucker.”

“Grey!” I berate him but laugh anyway. “I am so proud of you!”

This is his dream. It’s finally come true. He’s going to be an official MMA fighter. I am dating a fighter. Wow. Who would have seen that coming? Not exactly what I had planned, but not everything goes according to plan. I hadn’t planned on falling in love. Only settling down with a stable man, nothing about being in love. And although he came out of nowhere and turned my life completely upside down, I couldn’t be happier.

“Did you hear me, or are you too busy undressing me with your eyes?” Grey jokes as he squeezes my left hand that’s rested on the table.

I blush. “Sorry, what were you saying?”

“He also guarantees me regular underground gigs every week.”

“But what about your job?” I look down at his tie.

He chuckles, squeezing my hand. “I quit before I came to get you.”

“That was fast…” My smile drops, and I frown. “W-what if he can’t really guarantee it?”

He shrugs. “I’ll still have the UFC to rely on. He says I’ve gotten lots of buzz from the tournament and even from before.” He exhales as he leans back in his chair. “I’m kind of a celebrity. No need to freak out.”

“I wasn’t going to. Come down from your cloud, Mayweather.” I kick his boot with my shoe, and he sits up laughing.

“He wishes he could be like me,” he scoffs arrogantly.

“Who knows? Maybe you’ll fight with him one day.”

“He boxes, babe. We’re in two different categories.” He laughs at my ignorance.

“Sorry I don’t know—know everything.” I cough into my napkin and hold up a finger.

“Hey, are you okay?” he asks, rubbing the back of my hand with his thumb.

I nod wordlessly as I draw the napkin back slightly. Dark red blood is splattered on the cloth. My heart stammers, and the busy hustle of the restaurant, chatting, and laughter collide together into one big hum of noise. What the hell? I can’t—it’s probably nothing. This has to be nothing. Grey can’t see it. Everything is just coming together for him; his dreams are coming true. And so are mine. I have an office, I’m doing amazing at the program, and my career is just around the corner. I have to be okay, and appearing so is also important.
