  Owen chuckled at the exchange and said to Cali, “You aren’t going to find out, not yet. I already told you. Even the pilot has been instructed not to say a word.”

  “Great,” she muttered.

  Climbing the steps to the jet, she slowly stepped into the plane. The jet was small with light tan, leather seats on one side and a beige couch with a few throw pillows on the other. Cali and Owen made their way toward the rear of the plane and Steven and Adeline chose to sit across from the couch. There was enough space between the two so they could have some privacy.

  It was one o’clock when the plane finally took off and headed west. She still didn’t have a clue where the plane was going, but had butterflies in her stomach from the excitement. Looking to the front of the jet she saw Steven and his wife were no longer talking and Adeline had closed her eyes.

  Chuckling, he said, “I have a house here. I’m sorry we are only staying for a few days, but I promise to bring you here another time for a nice, long stay.”

  “A few days is perfect, Owen. Thank you for bringing me here. Although, I don’t know if I’m more excited about being here or being able to have some uninterrupted time with you.”

  “That’s why we’re here.” He kissed her softly on the lips. The plane landed, they departed and went to a waiting SUV. Steven looked like he slept about as well as Owen did, but both women seemed well rested.

  The time difference would throw everyone off, but they could live on whatever schedule they wanted and not bother to adjust since the trip was short. Besides, Owen’s main purpose of the trip was to get Cali alone, in his bed and to fuck her senseless. He didn’t want anyone ruining the moment he’d been waiting ten years for.

  The SUV took them right to his house on the beach. He made sure to call ahead and asked his maid if she could go grocery shopping. He didn’t want to have to leave the house upon arrival and knew everyone would be hungry since the meal on the jet was light.

  He had been scrolling through email and wasn’t paying attention when the SUV pulled into the driveway. He only looked up when he heard Cali gasp. “What’s wrong?” Her eyes were wide, but she didn’t look afraid.

  Pointing in front of her, she asked, “This is your house? You own this house?”

  Owen chuckled and said, “Yes, this is my house. Do you want to get out of the SUV and go inside?”

  He opened the door, grabbing Cali’s hand. The house was two stories with a light tan exterior. The bottom level was raised and open in spots with two wings. Walking in the front door was a beautiful entryway that flowed into a formal living room. The entire interior had cherry wood beams and high ceilings.

  Through the formal living room was a deck that had a high roof like the rest of the house. Then, down a flight of wide, wood stairs was an infinity edge pool surrounded by coral colored pavers and a black wrought iron fence. There was an amazing view of the beach and ocean. The house sat up a little and there were stairs on the side that led to the beach.

  Palm trees were spread throughout the land and the deck had what looked like a comfortable seating area. While she walked around the pool area, Owen helped Adeline prepare a quick meal. To them it was early in the morning, but in Hawaii it was late in the evening.

  He wanted to eat fast then get Cali into bed. He never invited any other women with him to the house in Kauai and loved that he could share one of his favorite places with her. He bought the best money could buy, but flaunting it wasn’t his style.

  She walked up the stairs as the food was being set out. Steven joined them and they all relaxed to enjoy each other’s company and the view of the ocean. When they finished eating, Adeline was quick to shoo them away, insisting she will clean everything. Owen really lucked out finding her and Steven. He never took either of them for granted.

  Grabbing Cali’s hand he led her to the east wing of the house. Steven and Adeline stayed on the other side. He knew even if Cali screamed his name in ecstasy they wouldn’t hear. Unless all of the windows were open, but they weren’t since the temperature was high. Central air was on, cooling the house down.

  Smiling, Cali squeezed him tight and closed her eyes for a few more minutes. She wanted to stay in the warmth of those arms for a little longer, but she remembered they were in Kauai and wanted to look out of the window. Maybe she could see the ocean from the bedroom.

  Cali sat up, stretched, looked outside and froze. Owen turned to look in the same direction. “Do you like the view?”

  “Um, hell yes I like the view!” She turned to him, excitement in her voice. “Can we have breakfast outside?”

  “We can eat wherever you want.”

  When they arrived the night before the sky was dark and while you could see the ocean, the waves during the day were amazing. He went to the kitchen and reappeared with coffee for two and jumped in the shower. He was standing with his muscular back to the water when she stepped into the bathroom. The house was enormous. She wasn’t even sure how many bedrooms there were, but thought all of her family and friends could sleep under its roof.

  When Cali reached the main living room she saw him out on the deck. He was setting out breakfast for the two of them. She stood in the doorway watching him.

  He didn’t seem to notice her standing there. Her mind drifted, wondering why Owen wanted her, what he saw. No job, not even looking for a new one, but what she did have was a huge heart and the man in front of her was taking more and more of it.

  Owen was placing food on plates. He was wearing a dark olive green t-shirt and khaki shorts. The way the shirt clung to his muscular arms with each movement made her hot all over.   Mumbling she said, “I hate surprises.” But he heard and laughed.

  They ate breakfast while watching the waves gently lap the shore. A light breeze was blowing causing the palm trees to rustle. Cali could see a couple of sailboats out on the water. She was mentally etching the moment into her memory, not wanting to forget a single minute of the trip.

  Owen kept her on her toes and she was starting to like it. He was always moving. She usually preferred more of a schedule, a routine. To know what every day held.

  Before, all of the surprises and spontaneity would have driven her crazy, but she was learning to relax and go wherever Owen wanted. The way he took care of her, always thinking of her needs, she felt like she was in a dream, waiting to wake up.

  After breakfast they descended the front steps to a waiting sport utility vehicle. Steven was in the driver’s seat and his wife was in the passenger side. “Are they coming with us?” Cali asked, not minding if the answer was yes.

  “No, they are going out for lunch. They’re dropping us off on the way. We slept in much later than them,” Owen said with a bit of huskiness to his voice. Hearing that tone from him sent shivers down her spine.

  Opening the door to the SUV, Owen smacked her ass slightly when she stepped to get in. The drive didn’t take long for them to reach the destination. She was surprised to see a helicopter waiting when they pulled in.

  She looked over to Owen who wore a smile. “We’re taking a tour of Kauai from the air.”

  Shaking her head, she said, “You’re spoiling me. I don’t know how to repay you for all of the wonderful things you’ve done.”

  Owen leaned down and whispered in her ear, “I do.”

  She lightly smacked him on the chest and whispered for him to stop teasing. Steven and Adeline were in the car and she became a little embarrassed.
