  Recap of Episode 13

Rita runs from the FBI, heading straight for Christo. But along the way, she comes across an old barn, which holds devastating memories of the Donatelli twins raping her and Jagger. Her remaining memories start flooding back, resulting in her attacking Christo, the man who murdered her parents and ruined her life.

Alessandro grows closer to Andriena, passion sparking between them. He offers Matteo money to stop her from being sent to the Black Russian, but Matteo turns it down due to Christo. Matteo instead continues to come onto Alessandro, who vehemently rebuffs his advances. In retaliation, Matteo tells Alessandro he’s going to seduce one of his brothers, who he knows is pansexual.

Thierry wills himself to suffocate the Padre while the priest is sleeping, but cannot bring himself to do it. To his horror, he realizes he’s becoming attached to his brother’s abuser. When the Padre’s doctor comes to check on him, he tells Thierry that he has another brother, one who murdered his father.

Matteo sells his soldier to a Japanese client, then hands Alessandro back to the Santini for a ransom. During the exchange, the Donatelli are attacked, losing two of their cars along with the ransom and most of their soldiers. Matteo escapes with Andriena, meeting up with his uncles and Thierry at an airstrip. After the Black Russian arrives in his jet, Christo leaves, not realizing he’s led the others into a trap. As a result, Matteo, Andriena, the Padre, and Thierry are all enslaved by the Black Russian.

  FRANO

I stared out of the car window as we neared my home, the Mediterranean Sea glistening like stained glass under the afternoon sun. I’d searched most of the day for Rita, but had come up with nothing. She’d disappeared without a trace. I didn’t know what to think—or preferred not to think the obvious: that she’d led me around like a fool, using me to get information for the FBI. All the evidence she’d left behind pointed to it. My desk had been rifled through while my computer had been turned on. Still, there was a chance that she hadn’t betrayed me, because she couldn’t possibly have faked the way she’d touched and reacted to me. Or maybe that was just wishful thinking on my behalf.

My driver steered the car into my driveway. Numerous soldiers were out front, getting ready to leave. We’d been radioed about it. Pedro Landi was removing his men from my house. I had no idea why, nor did the soldiers in my car, other than they had to get back fast. I just hoped it had to do with the Donatelli and not the Santini.

As the car came to a stop, I jumped out and headed for Jagger. He was standing in front of the entrance dressed in smart pants and a shirt, which was left open. He had his arms locked around Camila, the two glued together. I grimaced, unhappy with the open display of affection. It undermined what I’d told Pedro about my supposed relationship with the troia. Though, the Landi soldiers didn’t appear to care, their focus on leaving. One of their three cars drove off, while the second one’s engine started. Two of the three soldiers who had helped me search for Rita jumped into the back of it, leaving behind only four soldiers, my driver one of them.

I stopped in front of Jagger and Camila. “Do you know why the Landi are pulling out?”

“No,” Jagger replied, his eyes following the second Landi vehicle as it left. “I just hope it doesn’t have to do with the Santini.”

  “Likewise.”

One of the four remaining soldiers called out “Don!” capturing my attention. He headed across the driveway, stopping in front of me. He was a hard-looking man, with wide shoulders and a pocked face. He gave me a respectful nod. “Three of my soldiers will stay to guard the Donatelli woman,” he said, “while I’ll help you search for the FBI agent. I’ve been instructed to take her to the Landi compound. My Don wishes to talk to her about my colleague’s death.”

  “No, he’ll kill her.”

“That’s not the case; he just wants to question her.”

  “Don’t try to play me.”

“I assure you, I’m not. We no longer think she killed Phillipo.”

  “Then who did?”

  “The blonde woman.”

  “Honey?”

  He nodded.

“You have got to be joking, that woman couldn’t kill a fly.”

“All the evidence points to her.”

  “What evidence?”

“One of my soldiers found her dead in her bathroom with a head injury and blood on her clothes. I think Phillipo tried to rape her and she defended herself, stabbing him in the neck with a letter opener. You saw him; he had his cock hanging out of his pants. After killing him, she would’ve gone back to her room to clean herself.”

“But my desk was rifled through.” I paused, hope now filling me. “Maybe she was the one stealing information, not Rita.”

  “What for?”

“The FBI. She was a plant.”

“Why weren’t we told about this?”

  “I only recently found out.”

“Then it looks like your woman was involved after all. The two were probably working together.”

“No, I don’t think they were,” I said, not wanting it to be true, regardless of the strong possibility. Plus, if Rita was tied to the soldier’s death, the Landi would kill her… I stopped mid thought, my mind going to what she’d said about Christo, another possibility rolling around in my head. “There’s a strong chance she went after the Donatelli.”

  “Why?”

“For vengeance. Her real name’s Sophia Salvi. The Donatelli twins attacked her whe
n she was younger, almost killing her. She wanted to send out word to Christo that she was still alive so he would come after her, but I refused to let her. That’s probably why she took off without telling me.”

“Does she know where the Donatelli Don is?”

“No idea.” I turned to Camila, holding my phone out for her to take. “Contact your uncle. If he has Rita, I need to know.”

She took it and rung through. After several seconds, she hung up. “He’s not answering.”

  “Try your other uncle.”

She entered the Padre’s number, then put the phone to her ear. “Zio,” she said, saying uncle. She paused, a frown creasing her brow. “Who is this?” Her eyes widened. “Why do you have my uncle’s phone?” Her face dropped, then rage took over her features. “You give her back or I’ll hunt you down and kill you!” A burst of curse words shot out of her mouth. She removed the phone from her ear and keyed in a number.

  “What’s happened?” I asked.

“The Black Russian has my sister, Matteo, and my uncle Michael. He said he owns them, then hung up.” She put the phone to her ear.

  “What about Christo and Thierry?”

“He didn’t mention them.” She started talking into the phone: “I will pay for my sister’s return. Call me,” she said, sounding like she was leaving a message. She hung up a second later, her attention returning to me. “If he doesn’t call back, you have to help me save my sister. I don’t care about the others, but Andriena’s too sweet to be with a man like that. She’s already been brutalized by the Santini soldiers.”

“I’ll get her back for you,” Jagger said.

  “How?”

“The Black Russian likes me. I can work out a deal in exchange for her return.”

“Then call him,” she said, holding out my phone.

I snatched it out of her hand before Jagger could take it.

“Frano! Give it back,” she yelled, trying to get it off me.

I stepped back and stuffed it into my pocket, snapping, “Stop it! I’ll deal with the Black Freak when I get back.”

“I can do it,” Jagger replied.

“No. Only I can speak to him.”

“Then phone him,” Camila said. “It’ll only take a few minutes.”

“It’ll take much longer than that, plus Rita’s in worse danger if she’s gone looking for Christo. It can wait for now.”

“No!” She turned to Jagger. “Please, baby, you have to call him for me.”

I pointed a finger at him. “If you listen to her, you’ll end up with the Black Russian’s cock up your culo.”

Jagger’s eyes widened. “Watch what you say to me!”

“I’m not insulting you. That Black Freak will lie through his teeth to get you, like he did with Raphael. I bet he’ll offer Andriena as long as you go collect her, then once you set foot inside his home he won’t let you leave.”

“He let me leave the last time we visited.”

“Only because I agreed that the Black Guards could come with us, otherwise you would still be there.”

Jagger frowned. “I thought they came to protect me from the Padre.”

“I led the Black Freak to believe that so he’d let you leave. I gave him the impression you’d return with them. When he realized it wasn’t going to happen and his guards were powerless here, he started offering all that money for one night with you.”

“Fuck, I had no idea. Then how are we going to get Andriena back?”

My mind went to Alessandro’s brother. Brando was a hired gun, who could get in and out of the most secure places without being detected, even high security prisons. He’d killed a convict in a hit, then had broken a crime boss out, the escape sheer brilliance.

“I have someone in mind who can help us,” I said, “but before I talk to him I must find Rita. I can’t concentrate on anything until I have her back.”

“But the Black Russian will be hurting my sister,” Camila cut in.

“My woman first, Andriena second, so be patient. The rescue will take time to plan. When I get back, I’ll call my contact straight away.”

“Then find that FBI troia and get back fast.”

“Watch what you say about my woman or I’ll throw you to the Landi.” I sneered at her. “And by the way, our fake engagement is off.”

Her eyes shot to the soldiers, who were now standing several feet away.

“They fucking know I lied about our relationship,” I said, thinking she was a stupid troia. “You two hugging like lovebirds sealed the deal. Now, I’ll have to answer to Pedro because you two fucking idiots couldn’t keep your hands off each other.”

“You racing off after Rita is enough proof you’re not with me. Not to mention, you constantly call her your woman in front of them.”

“I’m a Don, I can have lots of woman. I can have a fiancée, a mistress, and a harem full of fucking puttane if I wanted and they wouldn’t bat an eyelash. But if you so much as look at another cock, they would know you weren’t with me, because no Don would allow their woman to make a fool of them and get away with it.”

“Well, I don’t care, because I don’t want you anymore. All I want is Jagger.” Her eyes moved to the Landi soldiers, who were clearly listening in. “I’m still pregnant with a D’Angelo baby, it’s just Jagger’s instead of Frano’s, so you can’t kill me.”

“That’s not up to us,” the head soldier with the pocked face said, “and I think my boss has more important things to worry about than a Donatelli puttana.”

Jagger’s back straightened, his eyes flashing angrily. “Apologize to her!”

“I tell it as I see it.”

Jagger let go of Camila and went for the soldier. I stepped in front of him, shoving him back. “Don’t be stupid! He can take you out in the blink of an eye.”

“He insulted my woman! You would’ve attacked him if he insulted Rita.”

  “So, she’s your woman now?”

“Sì. And no one touches her but me.”

I snorted. “No one wants to, she’s toxic. Just put us out of our misery and take her inside. Go fuck her brains out, because she’s obviously fucked yours out if you want her. She’s a blood sucking leech, who will bleed you dry.”

He gritted his teeth, his eyes flashing. “At least she’s by my side—unlike your woman.” He turned Camila towards the door. Two of the four soldiers followed them inside.

I shifted my gaze to the head soldier. “We need to grab some water and food before we head out again.”

“Do you have any other ideas where your female could’ve gone?” he replied.

I frowned, trying to think... My eyes widened. I shot inside the house, yelling, “Camila!”

Jagger and Camila came to a stop in front of the staircase.

I headed for her. “Did you talk to your uncle about Rita?”

  “I...”

  “Did you?!”

  “Sì.”

Jagger shot in front of me as I reared up. “Back off, Frano!”

“Not until she tells me what she said to Christo about Rita!”

Jagger turned to her. “Tell him.”

  She went silent.

  “Tell him!”

She cleared her throat. “He has her brother. I think he’s using him as bait.”

“And you didn’t tell me this!” I yelled.

  “I didn’t think to.”

“More like you didn’t want to.”

“No, it wasn’t like that. I didn’t think she would go after him without your help. Christo phoned last night. I just told her what he said. I thought she’d tell you.”

“I asked you if you’d seen her and you said you hadn’t, so don’t give me that bullshit. I’ve been running around this fucking island like a madman looking for her, yet you didn’t say a word when you knew all along where she went.”

She shook her head vigorously. “No, I don’t know where she went.”

“You must’ve told her a meeting place.” />
“Christo mentioned Marco’s Mall, that’s all. But if she did go to him, that would’ve been during the middle of the night. I honestly didn’t know she’d be stupid enough to go there alone. And when she disappeared, there was no way I was going to tell you what I knew; you would’ve blamed me.”

“I do blame you! And you’re a lying troia, so don’t fucking tell me you thought she would’ve taken me with her. Your psychotic uncle would’ve made sure she came alone.” I pointed at her. “And after I get back, I’m going to—”

“—stay away from her,” Jagger cut in. “I told you, you’re not to touch her.”

“Then make sure she’s gone by the time I return.”

  “No, she stays with me.”

I sneered. “Fuck, she’s really got you by the balls.”

Jagger glared at me. “It’s not like that. Unlike everyone else, she treats me like a human being, not some useless piece of merda. And she can’t go anywhere with the Landi imprisoning her. So, go find your woman and let me deal with mine. End of story.”

  “Is that so?”

Jagger straightened. “Sì. You owe me for what you did with Sophia. I was still with her when you fucked her, so now this makes us even. You stay away from Camila and the slate is wiped clean.”

“I fucking killed my brother for you.”

“You did what needed to be done, like I’m doing what needs to be done. I deserve happiness, and so far Camila’s the only person who has made me smile in years. And if you truly care for my well-being, you’ll leave her alone.”

I frowned, preferring to make the troia pay, but … Jagger was right. After all the pain he’d been through, he deserved happiness, it was just a pity it had to be with a ravenous piranha.

“Okay, I won’t touch her,” I replied. “Just keep her away from me.” My eyes went to the head soldier, who’d gone to get some supplies. He was heading our way, carrying a couple bottles of water and a bag of food.

“We’ll leave you to it,” Jagger said, turning Camila toward the staircase, the two heading up it.
