by Paul Richardson

Two gunshots went off and Johnny Kobayashi went to cover Mary Adams up from the blast. The would be thief ran off. Johnny Kobayashi would have gone after him, but Mary Adams collapsed in his arms.

"Oh, no! No! No!" yelled Johnny Kobayashi as he tried desperately and futilely to keep her on her feet. Johnny Kobayashi then held Mary Adams in his arms as he sat on the sidewalk. "You can't die, I just found you!"

"Shh, my love. Trust... in the Lord." said Mary Adams. "Hold me!"

Johnny Kobayashi did hold her until she died. Johnny Kobayashi put her down, got out his cell phone to call 9-1-1, and scooted back until he hit a signpost. When Johnny Kobayashi looked up, even more tears poured from his eyes when he read "Gun Free Zone" in bold red letters.

  Trident Force #3

  (2015/11/05 and 2015/11/06)

To show the city that he has not abandon them and to win them over again, Westgate Sentinel decided to get back into the game of actually being a superhero to his city. Westgate Sentinel tapped into the WCPD radio and started arriving at the scene ahead of the police officers. Westgate Sentinel seemed to be everywhere, stopping hold-ups, catching purse snatchers, and getting a kitty out of the tree.

Of course the media, including Eyewitness News Channel Seven, caught wind of what was happening and went bananas! They sent out their reporters everywhere and news helicopters were up there with the WCPD helicopters.

Westgate Sentinel was waiting about a hundred feet above the city when Hawkfox Delta came up behind him. "How are you doing, sir! Good to see to out here."

"Indeed." said Westgate Sentinel. "That drug bust woke me up that I have been too relax on the criminal element of Westgate City. It is time I showed them that the good people of the city is in control, not criminal thugs."

"If you need me, I will be around as always!" said Hawkfox Delta with a smile. He then flew off.

"Indeed..." answered Westgate Sentinel. Then a report came in that a black teen had taken part in a strong arm robbery in the Leftover Hills sector of Westgate City and so the Westgate Sentinel headed over there.

  ***

In Johnny Kobayashi's personal gym, members of the newly formed Trident Force was working out in the morning. Red Spade was strength training by lifting weights. Blue Star was keeping up her endurance by running on a treadmill. And Mantis Skin was practicing his moves in front of a mirror.

Suddenly, Blue Star's voice broke the silence. "Hey guys, something is happening!"

On Eyewitness News Channel Seven, Amy Parker muted voice was saying something. Blue Star moved to unmute the TV. "...this was the scene late yesterday."

Video switch over to prerecorded video. It look like the same intersection that Amy Parker was just at during her live broadcast. There was the Westgate Sentinel handing over a black teenager to a WCPD officer. After the teenager is taken into police custody, Amy Parker speaks up. "Westgate Sentinel! Westgate Sentinel! What has caused you to step up enforcement of the streets of Westgate City."

"The drug bust," said Westgate Sentinel stepping closer to Amy Parker. "By those Trident Force people. It opened up my eyes. I have been too soft on these thugs who think they own the streets. It is time they understood that."

And the prerecorded video ended and switch back to a live broadcast of Amy Parker. "And now that teen is dead."

"Oh my God." said Patricia Johansen putting her hand on her mouth.

"Community leaders," continued Amy Parker. "Are already calling on the arresting WCPD police officers and the Westgate Sentinel to be arrested for allegedly murdering that teen-"

Johnny Kobayashi muted the TV with a remote. "I have a bad feeling about this."

"You think?" asked Jack Spade. "Crime is on the rise? Remember? That is why you said you recruited me and Patricia Johansen here to team up."

"I think this will blow over in a week or two." said Patricia Johansen. "I sympathize with the community, but I remember seeing that arrest last night. That arrest was clean."

Johnny Kobayashi un-muted the TV. Amy Parker's voice could be heard once again in the gym. "-community organizers are planning a protest this weekend to show support for the teen that just died. I'm Amy Parker, reporting live on Eyewitness News Channel Seven."

"Well," said Johnny Kobayashi as he turned off the TV. "Training is over. I know we did not go over riot control, but we need to pick a field commander for this weekend. Thoughts?"

"It has to be Blue Star." said Jack Spade. "She is, after all, a part-time auxiliary police officer."

"Agree." nodded Johnny Kobayashi. Both Jack Spade and Johnny Kobayashi looked at Patricia Johansen waiting for her answer and then she too nodded. "Okay then, it is decided. The time is now to go home and kiss your love ones. Tell them you love them. We'll meet back here a day before the protests begin."

  Chief Hiawatha #4

  (2015/11/09)

Chief Hiawatha turned into the Red-Tailed Boa as the Black Bear sailed over him. When the Black Bear landed, it slowly turned to Chief Hiawatha who was still in the Red-Tailed Boa form.

"You..." growled the Black Bear in a low voice. This took Chief Hiawatha back a little.

"Me?" asked Chief Hiawatha. He did not realized that he could speak in one of his animal forms.

"Yes," answered the Black Bear. "Yes, you! Spawn of the traitor! Those powers belong to the Iroquois Confederacy, not a cowardly clan of-"

Before anything else was said or done, a gunshot rang out and a bullet ricochet off a tree trunk near the Black Bear. Both Chief Hiawatha and the Black Bear looked in the direction of the gunshot. Ranger Jones was coming up the hill towards him with gun drawn. The Black Bear turned to Chief Hiawatha, roared, and then ran off.

"You okay?" asked Ranger Jones to Chief Hiawatha as the Mohawk Indian changed back into a human.

"Yes," answered Chief Hiawatha. "Let's take care of these hikers."

"Are you two hurt anywhere?" asked Ranger Jones. both Chief Hiawatha and Ranger Jones help the two hikers up. "Anything broken?"

"No sir!" answered both hikers at the same time. Beyond a few scrapes and bruises, they were completely unharmed. The female hiker threw her arms around Chief Hiawatha's neck. "Oh thank you! You scared us at first, but if not for you, we would have been torn limb from limb!"

"Yes, thank you very much! That beast even told us as much when it started chasing us. We were on the trail when he appeared out of nowhere." said the male hiker. "I can not believe there are talking animals out there."

"I do not believe he was an animal. Did he say anything else to you?" asked Chief Hiawatha, hoping to get more info.

"No, but now that you mention it, I think the bear was playing with us." said the male hiker.

  "How so?" asked Ranger Jones.

"Well, every time it seemed like it would catch up with us, it just failed to do so." said the male hiker as Ranger Jones and Chief Hiawatha looked at each other. "I was even given enough time to call for help."

"You think you should go after him?" asked Ranger Jones to Chief Hiawatha. The Mohawk looked into the forest where the Black Bear had ran off.

"No, that guy is long gone. Whoever he was." answered Chief Hiawatha as he turned back to Ranger Jones. "I rather check out that trail and to see if there are any other victims or if there is any reason he would chase these two."

"A mile north from here and it makes a loop right by White Cap Lake." said Ranger Jones pointed north. "I will take these two back and get them on their way."

Chief Hiawatha turned back into the Bald Eagle and took off.

"Wow!" said the female hiker as she watched Chief Hiawatha take off. "Incredible!"

"You can say that again." said Ranger Jones. As soon as Chief Hiawatha was out of sight, Ranger Jones turned back to the hikers. "Okay, let us get you back to your car now."

High above, Chief Hiawatha was able to follow the path Ranger Jones told him about. It was not very long, but it did go right by White Cap Lake. Chief Hiawatha did see a few more hikers on the trai
l, but none of them seem to be bothered by anything. Chief Hiawatha also did not see anything out of the ordinarily from so up high.

Chief Hiawatha return to the Ranger Station and trailhead just as the hiker couple took off in their car.

"Find anything?" asked Ranger Jones, even if he did know the answer. "Thanksgiving is coming up and I have every cabin by White Cap Lake rented out."

"Unfortunately no." said Chief Hiawatha who had winced at the mention of Thanksgiving, however for now Chief Hiawatha let the matter go. "That does not mean that there is not anything going on, I just did not see it in the air. I will have to search on the ground and that will take me a while."

  Engelhard #4

  (2015/07/08)

Fidel Estrada turned over operations of the restaurant to his general manager and went out into Little Quezon to tell the people instead of calling people. Fidel Estrada needed the fresh air and could still briskly walk Little Quezon in no time. Fidel Estrada mainly meet with landlords or the superintendents, then asked them to pass along the information. Fidel Estrada also own two apartment buildings on the same block as his restaurant, so Fidel Estrada first stop to talk with his superintendents to make sure they pass the information to the tenants in his buildings. Then Fidel Estrada went clear across the neighborhood to make his way back to his restaurant.

There was one superintendent that Fidel Estrada was not looking forward to see. Just as he walked up to the door to ring the buzzer, Fidel Estrada had a bad feeling about this place. Like Fidel Estrada knew this was the building that was going to be attack. The name of this building superintendent is Antonio "Smokey" Estrada, Fidel Estrada's younger brother.

"(Oh no. What do you want, older brother?)" said Smokey Estrada through the intercom.

"Smokey? Smokey? (I have to talk to you. Let me in!)" yelled Fidel Estrada to the intercom. "(It might be a matter of life and death!)"

"(How many times have I told you not to yell through the intercom!)" yelled Smokey Estrada back through the intercom. "(I can here you just find through the intercom. You can tell me what is up from there.)"

"(The Leyak. It has returned. Let me in.)" said Fidel Estrada into the intercom. A few heart beats went by with no one saying anything. Suddenly the door buzzer went off and Fidel Estrada went inside. Smokey Estrada's apartment was the first one, marked 'S' for superintendent. Fidel Estrada let himself in and found Smokey Estrada fiddling what looked like a light switch.

"(Sit down.)" said Smokey Estrada, not looking up from his light switch. Fidel Estrada, seeing the nearest chair, sat down without making a single word or noise. Smokey Estrada was five years younger than Fidel Estrada and did not believe in magic much. "(Two years. Your daughter-in-law died after an illegal abortion to cover up her infidelity, your son runs off to Venezuela, and I do not see you for two years. Why now again?)"

"(You are a 'pendejo' you know that? The Leyak that killed my daughter-in-law has returned! Did you not read what happen two days ago?)"

"(Meh, another illegal abortion. You don't think I am dumb enough to believe in that old world mumbo jumbo?)" asked Smokey Estrada looking up to Fidel Estrada for the first time.

"(Look, brother, I tell you surely that the Leyak is very real. After walking up to this building, an overwhelming sense of dread overtook me. She is going to attack here.)" a question that Fidel Estrada had been fearing to asked now poured out. "(Are there any pregnant women in this seven story apartment building?)"

"(Two, actually.)" At that, Fidel Estrada stood up.

"(In case I am wrong, I want to warn the other buildings that I have not yet gotten to. May I return and we look out for the two pregnant women?)" asked Fidel Estrada to his younger brother.

"(Why should I humor you on this?)"

"(I have been saving up for a vacation to the Philippines. I have been meaning to ask you to come with me anyway. Come on, let us bury the hatchet. We are getting long in the years and it does us no good to fight.)"

"(Oh the Philippines!)" said a weary Smokey Estrada as he lean back in his chair. "(Alright, older brother. Try as I might, I cannot say no to you. I don't believe in this Leyak thing, however I will humor you tonight.)"

"(Thank you brother!)" said Fidel Estrada as he shook Smokey Estrada's hand. "(I will return before dusk!)"

  Hawkfox Delta #4

  (2015/11/06)

"You're wrong, you know." said Hawkfox Delta as he landed next to Amy Parker after she wrap up her report. "Westgate Sentinel and those WCPD officers did not kill that kid. I am the first black Hawkfox Paramedic in Westgate City. I have seen racism, but not from any of them!"

Amy Parker looked at Hawkfox Delta and after a second to think about it, held up her mic to Hawkfox Delta. "You want to go on the record with that statement?"

"I better not." said Hawkfox Delta looking a little bit uncomfortable. "If I was a private citizen, maybe. However I am an employee of Westgate EMS-"

"-an employee of Westgate EMS, yeah, I get it." said Amy Parker as she put her mic away and motion to crew to give her a couple of minutes. "And yes, I agree with you. I also do not think Westgate Sentinel and those WCPD officers killed that kid. I am only reading statements made by other people. I am sure this will blow over in time. After some peaceful protests and after the medical examiner clears everyone, people will move on to the next outrage."

"I am glad that Eyewitness News Channel Seven hired you right out of Westgate Tech." said Hawkfox Delta with a smile. "I am sorry I did not get to tell you earlier."

"Thank you." said Amy Parker with a smile of her own. "I am still getting my Masters at Westgate L&J State University. Only part time."

"Hey Amy Parker!" yelled Amy Parker's producer. This took Amy Parker and Hawkfox Delta out of their trace. "We have to get going!"

Hawkfox Delta. We have a possible Nine at 11157 Lincoln Drive, Apt 3 in Leftover Hills. Ambulance is inbound. ETA, twenty minutes. Please advise.

  "A Nine?" ask Amy Parker.

"Diabetic. Likely low blood sugar. This happens a lot. I have to go!" said Hawkfox Delta as he reached for his radio and took off. "Affirmative Dispatch. Over."

He arrived at the apartment and the people let him in. He went to apartment and a young man answered the door.

"You called in a diabetic attack?" said Hawkfox Delta as he entered the apartment.

"Oh my God! Hawkfox Delta!" explain the man. "Yes- yes, my grandmother! Right this way! I woke up and found her this way!"

They went to the master bedroom. There, an elderly lady was laying on the bed. She still had her bed clothes on. She acted confused and when she spoke, sounded like she was drunk. "Are you my son?"

"Oh yeah, low blood sugar all right." said Hawkfox Delta as he sat down next the elderly lady. "What's your name and her name?"

"Umm, Daniel Scott." said the young man Daniel Scott, stuttering somewhat. "And this is Emily Scott."

"Mrs. Scott. I need to prick your finger, okay?" said Hawkfox Delta as he got out the blood testing kit. First he put the blood testing strip into the meter and made sure it was ready. Setting the meter to the side, Hawkfox Delta got out a pricking device. "Help me hold her hand."

They both held her hand as Hawkfox Delta pricked Emily Scott's finger. Emily Scott made an "ouch" as Hawkfox Delta drew some blood on the meter. The meter read 35. Hawkfox Delta popped a bottle with some sugar and Emily Scott began to suck on it. In a few minutes she began to come out of it.

"Dispatch," said Hawkfox Delta. "Low blood sugar confirmed."

Affirmative Hawkfox Delta. Ambulance is inbound. ETA, five minutes. Please advise.

"Thank you, Dispatch. Over." said Hawkfox Delta into the radio. "I am going to stay with you until the Ambulance comes. You can refuse to go to with them if you want, but we'll make that call when they get here."

"Thank you Hawkfox Delta! You are my hero, homie!" said Daniel Scott as he threw his arms around Hawkfox Delta.

  Sooper Zoom #4

  (2015/11/06)

&nbs
p; "Community leaders," said Amy Parker on the TV at the Westgate City Correctional visitors lounge. "Are already calling on the arresting WCPD police officers and the Westgate Sentinel to be arrested for allegedly murdering that teen-"

"Sooper Zoom?" ask Detective Heddings as she entered through the correction officer's entrance. Her partner Detective Dowd followed her. It had taken Sooper Zoom several days to get clearance without giving out his name. However with a good word from Westgate Sentinel, burning his one favor, the WCPD finally relented. Sooper Zoom was able to keep his red and blue Lucha Libre mask on, but had to wear civilian clothes otherwise. He kept his two way communicator with Saint Matt, and the super hacker assured Sooper Zoom that the steel structure would not cut them off. "If you still want to talk to Montana Bull, now is the time. Welcome to the Iron Zoo."
