“You and me both.”

The duo lapsed into comfortable silence as Quinn pressed his eyes shut and enjoyed the feeling of Rowan’s body pressed against his. After a few minutes of quiet contemplation, Rowan broke the silence first.

“I figured out the hopping death omen, if that matters to you, by the way.”

Quinn stirred, surprised. “You did? How?”

“Penny said that Jamie and Gary wanted to kill Claire right away when they arrived on the ship,” Rowan volunteered. “That’s how she earned the death omen that day. Penny talked them out of it and then blackmailed Claire, who I think was planning on killing Penny to keep her secret safe.

“You know that night she claimed someone attacked her? I’m pretty sure she made it up,” she continued. “She was laying the groundwork for something to happen to Penny. She wanted us to believe the sales representatives were at risk.”

“I guess that makes sense,” Quinn mused. “What about Madison Montgomery?”

“I’m not sure on that one,” Rowan conceded. “Perhaps she was due to find out the secret, too. Maybe she already knows, for that matter. Maybe she was going to join in on the blackmail. I’m not sure it matters. She’s safe now.”

“She is,” Quinn agreed, pulling Rowan’s hair behind her shoulder so he could kiss the tender spot behind her ear. “I’m happy to put this one behind us.”

“Me, too. Now we can focus on us.”

  “Yup.”

“Does that mean you want to have sex?”

Quinn was taken aback by the blunt nature of the question. “Right now? I think I’d like to wait until we have a bit of privacy. I would rather not be arrested for indecency.”

Rowan chuckled, genuinely amused. “Not right now. Sally asked me over breakfast if we celebrated last night’s death-defying antics with sex. She’s very disappointed in us.”

“Well, as big of a fan as I am of … um … sex, I would prefer waiting a bit,” Quinn admitted. “I would rather get to know you better before worrying about that. There’s no need to rush.”

“Really?” Rowan couldn’t hide the relief from her voice. “You don’t mind that everyone will be watching us?”

Quinn pursed his lips as he shook his head. “I don’t mind at all. In fact, I insist on it. I’m happy learning everything there is to know about you and getting to that point when we’re both ready. I’m not living my life on someone else’s schedule.”

  “I agree.”

“I figured you would.” Quinn brushed his lips over her ear. “That doesn’t mean I’m not interested in you assaulting me with kisses whenever the mood strikes.”

  “That goes double for me.”

“Good.” Quinn and Rowan exchanged a sweet kiss before Quinn shifted to get a bit more comfortable. “Okay, where did we leave off?”

“What’s your favorite television show?” Rowan asked, not missing a beat.

  “Old or new?”

  “Does it matter?”

  “Absolutely.”

  “Old.”

“MacGyver. I always loved that show. I thought I could make a bomb out of a gum wrapper when I was six and was terribly upset when nothing happened.”

Rowan snickered, amused. “This is kind of nice, right?”

“It’s very nice. Your turn. What’s your favorite old television show?”

  “Little House on the Prairie.”

  “Seriously?”

  “Yup.”

  “Huh. You’re a complicated woman.”

“That’s probably not going to change,” Rowan pointed out. “The death omens aren’t going anywhere.”

“I don’t care about that,” Quinn said, and he honestly meant it. “I happen to like my women complicated.”

  “And addicted to crab legs.”

“That, too.” Quinn heaved out a sigh. “What’s your favorite new television show?”

Rowan giggled as she shifted on his lap. “Do you think this will ever get old?”

“Nope. For some reason I think this will always feel new.”

Rowan didn’t know why, but she agreed with him. She couldn’t wait to find out, though. For them, the adventure had just begun.

  Acknowledgments

I’m a romantic at heart. A true romantic. I love the idea of a happy ending, so much so I have trouble writing a sad one. The world is sad enough. I like escaping in fiction. That’s just me. I like sarcasm and snark – but I’m not sure a sad ending is in me. If you’re looking for an edge like that, you’re probably looking in the wrong place. Just FYI.

If you’re interested in upcoming releases, follow me on Facebook and Twitter. I do not spam. I don’t believe it and, as a reader, I find it annoying. Only new release information and special sales promotions will be posted.
